- Review: AHS first sent out a service tech who spent 5 minutes to diagnos an issue with iour HVAC system. He diagnosed a problem that was not covered (go figure). We had a "PROFESSIONAL" service tech out who correctly diagnosed the problem which would have been covered under the warranty. AHS says they will not cover the $277 cost because we did not get prior approval for the repair. My advice is save your money or use a different Warranty company because AHS does not take care of their customers. Also I would not use the sister companies either because this seems to be a corporate culture issue.

- Review: The first issue we had was with our old trash compactor- a 1970's model. The door wouldn't close, so while it would work, technically speaking, you couldn't use it and it was dangerous. It was covered in our contract, but when the tech came out, he took my 60 dollars and told me there was nothing he could do because it worked. He literally walked in my kitchen, turned it on, picked up the check off the counter that I'd just filled out, said "it works honey, there's nothing I can do", and left (but not before he made several overt sexual passes at me, and asked when my husband would be home). I called AHS and told them about this, and their response was "sorry, but that's all we can do". A few months later, we had another issue with an appliance and I called, making sure they knew they could not send the same repairman. What did they do? Sent the same guy. This time my husband was home and refused to let him in. So the repair wasn't done, but we STILL GOT A BILL...yes, they billed us for the service call even though the guy didn't even step into the house. The last straw was regarding a bathroom sink that was leaking. Our contract doesn't cover the faucet/faucet repairs, but it does cover the drain. The drain needed to be replaced, so we called, paid the 60 dollars, and when the tech (a really nice guy) came out, he confirmed that it was the drain that needed replacing and he needed to go buy a part for it. Before he could buy the part, he had to call to get prior approval, which he did in front of me. He started arguing with the rep on the phone, saying, "I'm telling you it's the drain, I think I know what I'm talking about...I do this for a living you know..." Apparently, the rep was telling him that it wasn't the drain, but the faucet and they wouldn't reimburse him for anything, or pay for his time. He was furious and told them not to call him with anymore service calls, he was done dealing with them. Then he did the repair for almost nothing...again, very nice and honest tech- which is why they couldn't keep him. You'd be better off putting aside what you'd spend on premiums and service charges each month, in some interest bearing savings account, to pay for repairs. If you have a repair that's going to cost the company more than what they're squeezing out of you, they'll never approve it.

- Review: yes thats the way it works, no body wants to pay full price for any thing, you get what you pay for, dont blame the contracter, blame your warranty co, blame the fat cats on top, all they want is to make a bib fat profit, contracters have to make aliving to. you have to pay a co pay at the docters, any they are the biggest rip offs , but when it comes to the contracter, it means nothing to some people, think about what it costs to run a small bussiness, company insurance, fuel equiptment, workers comp, thats right, so the next time some of you stingy, cheap, penny pinchers start talking crap about any hard working contracter in any craft, think about taking your sorry butts to work every day and not get a pay check on friday and see if you feel like doing anyting, p.s good luck with any warranty co

- Review: My husband and I bought our house 5 yrs ago with an existing warranty with Advantage which we maintained for the next 4 yrs. When 2010 started and we had not received a renewal I contacted the company and was told we had been dropped as clients. Even though we had never missed a payment or used our warranty more than a few times we were dropped without explanation or even notice. Upon asking for a reason I was told that due to the age of our house and appliances we were "statistically a loss" meaning "your stuff is old and we don't want to pay for new stuff even though you're good customers in a down economy".One month later, in February, our heat pump died and we had to pay for a new one out of pocket. The company we used told me they had terminated their contracts with Advantage due to unprofessional behavior and failure to pay for work that had been pre-approved. We also had a problem when our sump pump died and our basement began filling with water. I called to report it on a Saturday and was told it wasnt an emergency so I would have to wait til Monday, but on Monday no-one called or came out and the water continued to rise. I called every day that week with no results until Friday when I asked to speak with someone in charge. Suddenly a plumber was calling to come fix the problem. Although he did a terrific job and was courteous and thorough we suffered water damage to the wooden structures that hold up the house and have had mildew and mold as well as wall/ceiling cracks due to shifting. We counted on our warranty to protect us against expensive repairs and sudden problems but were let down. They took our money and gave very little in return. I would never recommend this or any company who cares so little for the people who make their jobs possible and who count on them for peace of mind.

- Review: When we bought our home, the seller purchased the warranty for us. The first time we had trouble with our home A/C, Warrentech did an okay job getting someone out in a timely manner. Then, 2 days before our warranty expired, the coil on the A/C unit went out. Since we were still under contract, we called Warrantech. THIS WENT ON FOR MONTHS. They never had a manager to speak with and customer service was horrible. Finally my husband contacted the corporate office. It was 6 months + before the A/C unit was actually fixed. I would never recommend this company. In fact, when we sell our house, we will use someone else.

- Review: Choice Home Warranty has an 'F' rating on the BBB.org website. In my experience, they deserve it. This company exists only to take your money. This was my experience: I called them regarding a plumbing leak. They called a contractor who was suppose to call me but never did. Then, to their credit, they followed up with me and then called another contractor. No explanation as to why the original contractor didn't call. Then, I received a call from the other plumber who I met with. He said that he would come back out once he gets approval from Choice Home Warranty. I didn't hear anything for about three to five days. So I called the plumber. He said that he sent them the quote but they didn't approve it. No one bothered to call me. So I call the company and asked what was going on and the rep. said that she would check on it and get back with me. I didn't receive a call back. So I called again and told spoke with another rep. This time I explained that the leak was STILL leaking... At this point, I explained to the rep.- who was giving a me a song and dance about why I hadn't heard anything- that I was NOT going to be patient any longer and that they'd better call that plumber and approve his price right now! And then they did. All of this ended up taking at least a week. I think it was longer. Then the plumber disappears for three for four days. No call. No nothing. I called him directly several times. Then I called Choice and complained. I spoke with a lady there who apologised and assured me that she would deal with it and call me back. There was no call back. Eventually I get a call from the plumber that he had fallen and gone to the hospital but was okay now and could come in a few days or so. When he came he offered to re-caulk a portion of the caulk around my tub if I would go and get it from the store. I went and got it and after he'd finished and left, I realized that he kept the caulk. It was just the icing on the cake. I never had a follow-up from Choice. Not once in this hole affair. Not even after the service ticket was completed to see if I was satisfied. Please do not use this company and spread the word.

- Review: southcarolina residents, beware big scam, all contractors are forced to work flat rate, with many calls that are multiples, flat rate at 125.00, now how can the contracter make any money when a garbage disposal needs replacing and tub fixture needs replacing, people are better off staying away from warranties, budget your money for repairs, and call who you want. and for all those people out there that believe what the realtor said about everything being covered, you deserve what you get. keep in mind they get there kick backs, good luck

- Review: What a nightmare. It only took 10 minutes and 1 phone call with an enthusiastic sales rep to get 2 warranties: 1 for my home, 1 for my rental. It has since taken me over one week of my time and 8 different phone calls to cancel. My credit card was charged the next day for both contracts, yet when I called to place a service request, they knew nothing about one of the properties. And where did that exuberant sales person go? Now I was dealing with folks that clearly kicked a few cats, kids and old people before they got to work that day. WHen I wanted to cancel the warranty on the rental, the attitudes got worse. I was put on endless holds, and at least 2 different "sales" people tried to talk me out of it. When i got my mortgage statement and saw the payment was added to it in addition to the credit card, I was really hot. AHS blamed the mortgage company, the mortgage company blamed AHS. All I wanted to do was cancel and be done with them. I of course had to listen to someone try and talk me out out that too. Never again.
