- Review: AHS Sucks! A/C unit has been out a week...they sent the first tech out and his report claimed it was our fault compressor went out so didn't wanna pay the claim, we call out two more companies out of our pocket for 2nd and 3rd opinion and they both say AHS technician was full of it and there is no basis for his report, so five days later they decide on they need to send another tech for 2nd opinion on their behalf and this tech agrees with the two we paid for out of our pocket so first guy was full of crap...however this tech was going to send report in right then and now here we are three more days and tech hasn't sent in report, but yet this was suppose to be an "Emergency Call" because we have now been without A/C for a week. Just like all the other reports you call and stay on hold forever and then you get someone and they are laughing having a good time in the back ground and really don't care what you are saying or you will need to call back again because they don't have all the facts together or they will call you back and that never happens....So "DON'T EVER USE THIS COMPANY"...will be canceling two policies we have with them. SCAMMERS and don't care about their customers at all...just like to take their money and deny claims!

- Review: I had just enrolled in the warranty plan in October 2011 and I was told the contract date would be Jan 2012 due to me paying via mortgage payment, which I was fine with. The problem comes in when I received a bill saying I owe them for Dec 2011 payment. Why is that? When the contract begin date should be Jan 2012. Well I called cutomer service and they were pretty much unwilling to listen and do any thing about it. So, I said please cancel my contract. I was totally frustrated and upset at this point. I had to call several times to get someone that would actually look at record and tell me what happend. Well apparently the initital rep changed the effective date of the contract to Dec 2011 a couple days later after our call and they can see clear documentation of such. One rep advised would have call pulled for review to see what was said during initial sales call when i signed up. Remarkably so, there was no call record to be found. This rep left me a message saying I was basically out of luck. No record of call and contract date will remain Dec 2011. I have yet to speak to an acutal person of authority. ******************They do not care---Do Not give them your business*************

- Review: The worst customer service I have ever received. Reported faulty dishwasher more than 6 weeks ago. Still not fixed and customer service refuse to give answers and frequently hang up when I ask for explanation for delay or when I can expect to have a working dishwasher. There is no maximum time limit for the company to fix the broken product and replace with new. We have had three contractors visiting. All changing different parts. Still they refuse to replace the dishwasher. I will cancel the insurance the moment the dishwasher is fixed, which unfortunately could be a long time. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

- Review: This company will patch and jerry-rig solutions -- anything but truly FIX the problem. They lied and delayed. It took six months, umpteen calls, etc., to get them to fix a problem; and even then, it wasn't done correctly. I had been with this company for over 15 years and when I really needed their help and service, they did not treat me well. I did not renew my contract.

- Review: This company will do everything possible to avoid completely replacing something that is obviously broken. Our pool/spa heater worked great for the first 2 weeks we owned our new home and then went out. We contacted HWA and they did send a repair guy out right away. He came out 4 or 5 times replaced multiple parts and still could not get the spa heater to heat to the appropriate temperature of 104 it would only get to 99 or 100 which is not very hot. The heater is meant to heat to 104-105 and there is a big difference in the water temp. Called the HWA rep KIM for the 5th or 6th time and she sent a different inspector out, THIS TIME A CERTIFIED HAYWARD SPA REPAIRMAN (why wasnt he sent from day 1?). He did something to "tweak" the spa heater and it worked...one time and then died again. Called Kim again about the heater not working and just got a message from her to call back to "Discuss my claim". Called and had to talk to someone else who told me that I only have 182.00 left of the $1000. cap for fixing pools. So now I get a check for 182.00 for a heater that should have been replaced all along. WHAT A RIP OFF!!!! BUYER BE WARE!!!! DO NOT BUY A POLICY FROM HOME WARRANTY OF AMERICA. The service man told me from the very beginning no matter what condition the component is in, if it will turn on they wont replace it even if it wont work at all .They will replace every part possible and eat up the cap. Then say sorry....

- Review: This was my first claim. Toilet in the master bath was leaking clean water at the base. Filed the claim online and got a response the next day from the plumber (Billy's Rebuilds). He came by and evaluated the situation and told me how the claim process works with HWA. I gave him the deductible and a few days later I called HWA to see if they had approved the claim. The customer service agent put me on hold to call the plumber on another line to verify the situation and about 10 mins later came back on line to tell me the claim was indeed approved. Billy came back to the house the next day to change out a defective gasket at the base of the toilet. He said HWA wouldn't consider caulking the seam at the base of the toilet as part of plumbing (he said it would be a flooring claim) so I had to pay an additional $20 for him to do it. Overall experience with my first claim is positive. Hope this continues in the future.

In my 11-year-old house my HWA home warranty has saved my "you-know-what" more times than I can count from having a budget busting nightmare on my hands, and I recommend them highly to anyone who owns a home.

- Review: I have used three home warranty companies over the last 15 years. Old Republic has had several techs come out for various reasons. I have never any problems getting something repaired or replaced. I have read my contracts closely and understand the dollar limits ahead of time. Since my husband travels for a living, the peace of mind that I can something repaired for a small fee has been great. Within a week of moving into my house the tub stopped draining. They had a plumber out the next day who spent all morning tracking down the sewer blockage, cleared and never had a problem since. My disposal went out and I wanted to replace it with a better one. This wasn't going to be covered and I knew that ahead of time. I went and bought the one I wanted and replaced it myself. The shelf in my freezer broke. This could have gone either way with some companies. This company never questioned it. The repairman ordered the shelf and a week later came and put it in. Garage door opener stopped working, due to age. They simply replaced and again never hesitated to cover it. I have always felt like they treated us very fairly.

- Review: "Service, Value, Integrity" are the words these people use to talk about themselves, but they have NONE! If you have a choice avoid them at all costs. The "insurance" is worthless. They are proposing to replace a motor in a dishwasher that is fourteen years old!!! They sent a contractor in to our home to replace a garbage disposal that was worn out. The guy broke a fitting on a filter system under the sink and refuses to accept responsibility! First American says - "hire an attorney and take him to small claims court!" They are heartless, uncaring and once they have your money, their only interest is in ignoring your needs. They should not even be allowed to do business.

- Review: Have had Ev.Res. for 4 years now and will not be renewing. The company moved from Irving to Austin earlier this year. Spoke to Tommie Little of Ev.Res. about my A/C unit (again!) and told that because they were moving to go ahead and use the contractor of my choice and submit my bill to them for reimbursement, subject to their requirements. That was in August and have not heard from them since despite several phone calls. Tommie no longer works for the company and Jeremy has not returned my calls. In previous years whenever I had an A/C problem it took several days for a contractor to come out and despite saying it was a circuit board problem, always replaced the thermostat and replaced it with a much cheaper version. Hubby annoyed at this but not present when the contractors were there. (I think a lot of contractors take advantage of women anyway.) Later find out that our expensive super-duper thermostats are for sale via the internet. The company never did leave the old one with us. Beware!

- Review: They assigned me a contractor - Fantastech of Houston - whose ratings are abysmal. Basically when Fantastech didn't show up to make the repairs, they shrugged as if there was nothing they could do about it but keep calling, you got it, Fantastech! In other words, their crummy contractor had them - and me - by the shorthairs. They offered "cash in lieu," which was significantly less than the repairs cost. I am a real estate agent, and I have come to the conclusion that these warranties are worthless. Instead, just get the seller to give you $350 in cash.

- Review: I have had an AHS warranty for several years. With few exceptions their service is horrendous. Dealing with the people in their call center is a joke. They are rude, incompetent and some can barely speak intelligible English. Once I do get through to them & place a service request I have found the quality of the service reps to be mixed. Some are outright fraudulent. They have sent an air conditioning contractor (Barker's) & a pool contractor who took my deductible, did no work whatsoever & then lied to AHS to make the problem I had with my equipment uncoverable. In every case this has happened I have paid a real contractor to assess the diagnosis of the AHS contractor & in every case they have given me a written estimate which stated that the AHS contractors either did not know what they were doing or lied. I have filed reports with the Texas Department of Consumer Affairs & the Better Business Bureau to report these contractors. The only reason I keep AHS is from what I can tell all the other home warranty companies are as big or bigger crooks than AHS. What a sad state of affairs.

- Review: Can I rate lower than POOR!! Recently renewed policy despite being unhappy in the past...always seemed to find “reasons” to deny coverage! Found out their premium has gone WAY up (DOUBLE!) supposedly to cover additional issues. Called about a leaky toilet and was confirmed that it was covered. However their plumber claims it was improperly installed (news to me, we've lived here 20 years and it hasnt leaked before) Improper installation is supposed to be covered... but they are denying it based on "pre-existing condition". How can you cover "improper installation" but then deny it if it is pre-existing if you don't do an inspection before you take my money?? Everything in my house has been installed (properly or improperly) BEFORE I purchased the policy. So how can you cover improper installation and then deny based on pre-existing??? Tried to cancel policy, but was convinced to get a second opinion ONLY after they PROMISED the second plumber would be out on Friday... ANOTHER broken promise by this company! Tried again to cancel policy but cancellation department is already closed (not even 4:00 pm!!??)

- Review: Had AHS in the past and did not renew due to bad service and most claims we filed ended up costing way over their published $60 deductible. But recently decided to renew. Found out their premium had gone WAY up (you need to update your information at the top of this page - it's not $360, try $639!!!) But SUPPOSEDLY covered more issues... at least that's the broken promise they make when they sell you the policy!! Called them for a leaky toilet. Called first and verified that it WAS covered. Then their plumber said it was "improperly installed" (news to me, but that's supposedly covered) However said it's pre-existing! HELLO everything in my house has been installed "preexisting" to the policy. Said it was easily detectible that it was improperly installed...detectible by WHO?? I never noticed and have no idea how to properly install a toilet even if I noticed...they don't require an inspection before taking your money... so detectible by WHO??? How can you sell a policy that includes "improperly installed" equipment, and then deny it if it's pre-existing? Everything in my house that is supposed to be covered was installed before I bought the policy and I assume everything was properly installed. Called their "disputes" number and go round and round with them and they don't even listen or give a logical explanation! Just keep repeating what they already said, which makes no sense! BAD DECISION - Cancelling if they don't do this repair!
