- Review: Certainly do not recommend. Have had FA since we moved into our home in 2005. We have repeatedly been accused of "owner negligence" and "owner abuse" for dishwasher and refrigerator problems. We even have photographic evidence that problems resulted from latent defect from careless installation on the dishwasher, when we had to replace it at our own expense--after the $55 servcie call. FA is slow to respond, there is no such thing as an emergency (e.g. no heating when outside temp is < 40F), so nearly all calls take 48 hrs before repairman arrives. If we'd get a decent repairman, he'd say replace the fridge. Nope, we just keep getting taken for another repair, $55 at a time. On this site to find another company that has better ratings--doesn't look like it will be hard to do.

- Review: They will not replace anything ever. Their vendors are only allowed to repair until it burns up. I have 2 contracts with them. On one they repaired the furnace 4 times until it burned up in the middle of Summer with 110 degrees outside and they will not send someone out for 3 days. I told them that I have someone on that will replace the furnace and keep it for inspection but they could care less, they need that furnace repaired the 5th time even burned. So there you have it. Now I am a lawsuit with them.

- Review: I have been pleased with the service of HWA. I have been with them for a few years and have had to call in claims several times. I have had an AC replaced in a home I was selling. Have had an ice maker and washing machine fixed in the last several months. The only issue I have had was with one of the companies they selected to fix my ice maker. It took several calls and almost two weeks for them to fix it. But HWA stayed on top of the issue and followed up with the company and me to make sure it got fixed. I was pleased with that. Their reps are always kind and professional.

- Review: HWA has always been very courteous and professional. I prefer to call in my request instead of going online. The wait-time is usually quite short and the representatives are very courteous. The service technicians are thorough and very qualified. I appreciate the good customer service and I appreciate having such a short wait time until a technician arrives to resolve my problems. All of the work done so far has been "repairs". I hope to experience the same quality of service when something needs to be replaced.

- Review: I am bit surprised that people are so negative to the company. My only experience with the company is a couple of weeks back, when the de filter of my swimming pool started to leak. I called customer service, and they responded very quickly by providing a phone number to their contractor. it was fixed very quick. I can only say for myself, I am quite happy about this company for this repair experience.

- Review: This was my first claim with HWA. I filed out my claim on line - very simple & easy (a/c was out). The contractor called me within about 1 hour or so & scheduled the technician to be out that day. This was the week the temperatures were over 100 degrees. I was surprised they were able to get a tech out so quickly. The blower motor needed to be replaced & the contractor ordered the part. I think the part was in the next day but I asked the tech to come out the following day instead (since I was able to stay at a friend's & the following day worked better for me to meet the tech). The tech arrived as scheduled & immediatly replaced the blower motor. Both times the tech was friendly but still worked diligently. I am VERY pleased.

- Review: They SUCK, SUCK, SUCK!!! DO NOT use this company!!!! If you want to sue this company and need a testimony on how terrible they are I would be glad to help. I pray at night, every night, that this company goes out of business, the founders name is stricken from the records of humanity and his grave is desecrated for all of eternity.

- Review: The Customer Service at HWA was excellent. Cy-Fair Mechanical was on time, knowledgeable, and wonderful. My only "complaint" is the excessive wait time when calling in a request for service at HWA. I tried to do an online request but it would not take my request. I got a message that it could not process the request and I would have to call customer service. I was on hold for 45 minutes.

- Review: This company had always been fairly reliable for our home issues but the past two weeks have been a nightmare. Our air conditioner went out (in 100 degree + weather! )and they sent a technician out three days later to take a look. We were told the compressor needed to be replaced and the technician would let AHS know what the issue was. After many calls to both the air conditioning company and AHS, I am now told it will be another week before we "possibly" have air! That is 10 to 12 days MINIMUM with no air conditioning in South Texas summer heat! I have four children and remain stranded in a home with 90 degrees INDOORS! I cannot leave because if they should call to schedule the time to come repair my unit and I do not answer, they will place me back at the end of the queue for repair adding more days to my misery - and we all know that cell phones are not 100% reliable! I find it amazing that American Home Shield would consider this acceptable service! Our contract is up for renewal next month and I will happily be looking elsewhere for my home warranty needs.

- Review: Very fast, honest and inexpensive. Our air conditioning stopped working on a Thursday afternoon. My wife called and they sent someone out the following day. $45 service fee and it was fixed. Thank you for being so prompt....it makes my family and I feel good about our purchase. This was right before a 3 day holiday weekend too.

- Review: We bought our Home 10 mo ago we are havn problems with our plumbing and our garage door. they sent the plumber 2 weeks ago tuesday then call me and cancel cause they had a truck break down then they come today and was suppose to be here between 9-1pm I called them at 1pm and they said it would be up till 6pm then they show at 3:30 and charge me 60.00 to tell me that my warrenty doesnt cover anything. the plumbing company is Lonestar do not use them they are not dependable and are just scaming poeople along with Allied Home Warranty they dont know nothing and lie I talked to a lady and told her all my problems and she said it would be covered and it wasnt it was just a waste I took off work to be here waiting to get my stuff fixed to find out I just wasted $60.00 for a guy to walk in for 20min and tell me its not covered and that will be $60.00. Now i have a garage door not working and they want to charge me another $60.00 and when i called Allied to tell them what happend they didnt care. and the person said also that they will fight me about getting my garage door fixed when its suppose to be covered. its a joke do not use either you will regret it promise you !!!wish we could figure out a way to really make them see they cant do this to people mayb the B B B i will try there to.

- Review: Sensible Home Warranty was very fast and efficient in handling my leak problem. Within 48 hours of placing my call the problem had been identified and corrected. I had shopped around before deciding on S.H.W. I heard nothing but positive things and the overall cost was way below what I was paying with my previous warranty company.

- Review: My furnace showed signs of backdraft. The tech (ARS) came within 48 hours after my service call and ordered a new furnace which was fully covered by AHS. ARS came after a few days to install the new furnace. I didnt have to pay for the new furnace but I had to pay $1050 for miscellaneous not covered under the contract namely a door for the transition box ($350), a new vent pipe ($350) and roofer's service ($350). I wonder if all those miscellaneous charges are necessary .... I will probably recommend AHS but not ARS as the service company. I do not think the miscellaneous charges were necessary.

- Review: I requested for an electric fittings in my house 3 days ago, they call and fix a date. The repairer showed up and went through and fix the problem timely and orderly. It was a good experience.

- Review: After signing on to this warranty for a few months, our A/C went out Memorial Day weekend. Initially, customer service was helpful in setting up the claim and finding an A/C repair service. However, due to the holiday apparently no one could come out for a few days. The temp in our home was in the upper 80's to 90's, and since we have a baby we had to stay in a hotel. Two days later, a repairman came out the house, stayed very briefly, and said that he would have to send in the estimate to totalprotect. Well we had another couple of days of no call-backs from totalprotect or the repair people, and the repair people kept claiming that they did not know the model of our A/C unit and so could not order the parts (WHAT??) but were trying to figure it out. Totalprotect stated that it would be another 48-72 hours to reach a decision on our claim, once they received the estimate from the A/C repairman. We tried to explain many times that this was an emergency, since we have a baby and could not stay in our home, nor could we afford to continue to stay in a hotel. Finally we had enough and called a local A/C repair company. They came out the next day and repaired it with parts that were in their van. They also reported that the first company's assessment of the problem was completely wrong, and they could not understand how they could not figure out what A/C model we had since it was labeled on the side of the unit. We paid out of pocket but were finally able to live in our house again. Stay away from this "warranty" company.

- Review: This is the most worst company I have ever dealt with as far as the customer service goes. I had been hooked up with them when I bought my house when the seller provided the warranty for one year. I have not used much since the home did not give any problem during my first year. I continued with First American the second year since I did not get to experience their customer service. I had a plumbing issue later with my shower head leaking. When I called them, the customer service agent mentioned that shower head leaks are not covered. I also had issue with my whirlpool tub and they mentioned a contractor will come to check. The contractor came and he mentioned that he cannot repair it until we remove the outer covering of the tub and leave him with bare pipes to work with which was not possible at that time. He left. They sent me a bill for service charge of $55. It was bad from their part that without fixing the issue or even working on anything I had to pay the service fee just for the "visit of the technician". They asked me to read the contract carefully. The service fee is not for fixing the problem, it is due the time "a technician steps at my door". I disputed the charge, but they sent it to a collection agency. Since I am busy with my work and cannot spend my time fighting with these guys and don't want to screw up my credit rating, I finally ended up paying the service fee without any service being performed. I immediately canceled my contract with them. PLEASE PLEASE BE CAREFUL BEFORE SIGNING UP ANY WARRANTY CONTRACT WITH FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY. THEY CAN CHANGE THE CONTRACT ANY TIME WITHOUT PROPER NOTICE.

- Review: I just purchased the home warranty about 2 months ago. This weekend my dishwasher stopped working. I could hear the motor running, but no water was coming in. I called CHW on Sunday. They lady immediately gave me a claim number and the name of the service company that would be coming out. I called them on monday to schedule the appoitment when they told me that they didn't service dishwashers. I called CHW back and the lady was very courteous, offered her apologies and sounded surprised that the company they referred had said that, she immediately gave me the number of another company. M and M appliance. They called me within the hour and set up an appointment for tuesday. The gentlemen were on time and had the problem diagnosed within about 45 min. They had to check back with CHW and get an approval and order a part. They called the next day to say they got the approval and made an appointment for thursday to come fix it. They were on time and fixed it within 30 minutes. A rep from CHW called twice over the days to check that everything was ok and to notify me that the claim had been approved. Overall I was extremely satisfied with my first experience. Thanks Choice!

- Review: AHS has the worst customer service that I have ever seen. I've had coverage since 1995 and have have so many issues that I can't count anymore. The latest fiasco is the AC. In Texas, AC is a must but these people just don't care. Thier technicians are incompetent and slow to respond. They tell you that they will arrive at a certain time, but they don't. No calls from anyone. I have complained and asked to speak with supervisors at AHS but they give me the run around and never connect me. Put me on hold for over 20 minutes and then hung up on me. I am done with this company...I am cancelling this contract ASAP.
