  • Review: Very poor. Had them for two years. First year, great. Second year, changed the contract without letting us know, then when we had same problems the next year (because the service provided wasn't adequate), it wasn't covered! So, because it wasn't covered, they made us pay for the home visit and told us we were on our own for repairs! Do yourself a favor and pay a bit more for a fairer more ethical company.

  • Review: I have had a contract with AHS for 4 yrs you would think they value that. We have only had to call them around 4-5times in 4yrs for things that have had to be repaired and I have been patient when we have waited on the repairs even as long as 2 days. When its your airconditioner thats a long time to wait. But this is a rental property and we waited. Aparently my card which was set up for automatic payments expired in July and they were sending bills to rental property and not to my billing address. So last week they called me asking for my current address stating the bills had been returned. So I gave them my billing address again. Which they had the correct phone # but waited 3 months for no reply untill they decide to contact me. So Today i recived a notice/bill stating that it would be turned over to collections. I immediately call and speak to Carla(no Help) and then her supervisor Jerry Williams. They both confirmed that the bills had been returned but even thou this was a month by month contract that I owed them from JULY till September unless i called and cancelled the contract. I told them this was not good business or customer relationship and I felt this was not handled appropiately. I should have been contacted immediately or the they should just assume the i no longer wished to have their services since it was month by month bases. Jerry stated i should have realized it wasn't coming out of my account and contacted them. I don't take it lightly that it will be turned over to collections even though Jerry said "it was just to get my attention and it worked you called us" Wow I told him i would be cancelling my contract due to this poor way to handle this and reporting this to the BBB. Don't use AHS. Use another company I am.

  • Review: The customer service is hedious. There is no other way to describe it. The best illustration I can give is after having a frustrating conversation with an office manager she invited me to file a complaint on the company's website. Of course i did this and of course no one from the company ever replied. The basis for my complaint was simple. They refused to send a technician to asses i had with the A/C unit. The manager was so rude. The warranty is cheap but like with anything else you get what you pay for. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!!!!

A class action suit needs to be taken against this company. Lawyers! take notice! here is a cash cow for you!

  • Review: Even though I have a feeling most the reviews on this website sound like they are from companies themselves, I still wanted to have a voice. American Residential Warranty is a good company that I have used 3 times in 2 years. They don't make false promises, and have definitely lived up to my expectations. They didn't fix my toilet because it was a fixture, but the whole leak which was insane they took care of, this was 457$ The contractor was polite, educated, and clean shaven, much different than those I am used too.

  • Review: I had my A/C go out several years ago. 2-10 replaced it with a new but, cheap one. Now the "new" one has broken down and a repairman was sent to fix it. They replaced the blower motor and a circuit board that was fried. The thing still does not work. I called 2-10 back and told them that the thermostat doesn't respond and that the unit shuts off when put on "cool". They told me the claim was denied because of improper wiring and some mumbo jumbo about the thermostat. The unit had not been touched until it went out and the service repairman came out to look at it. The wiring and thermostat were the exact ones that were attached and working prior to the failure. A new thermostat was installed and the unit still did not work. I still do not have the unit fixed and I intend to explore the possibility of legal action. This company needs to be reported to the proper licensing or review board.

  • Review: My girlfriend has been ripped-off by American Home Shield 3 times. It is a shame how companies like this advertise great service and then send rude people to service. As a single woman she replies on people to not have an attitude that she is dumb and you can run all over her simply because she is a WOMAN. The 1st instance was a call to repair a non operational. OK...They sold her a unit and then wired it wrong that caused another service call for $60. Then wired it wrong again and then used another $60 of her money to fix it again. This time they even acknowledged they were wrong and had wired it wrong....but you must still pay $60. Now a dishwasher quit working and they sent out a $60 man that was there 30 seconds and said she broke it, After a very heated and frustrating conversation with an upper management type at AHS...they sent another man out for a second eval. He told her there was no way he can prove she did anything wrong and he recomande AHS fix the unit. They refused her again. So what good is having AMERICAN HOME SHIELD if it does not SHIEL YOU???...SO is you want to pay your hard earned money to a company that is interested in taking your hard earned money without giving any thing in return you should sign up to give it to AHS. I personally am canceling my own SHE policy Monday and telling all of the 350 people I work with to avoid American Home Shield. A Pure American Rip Off Indeed!!!

  • Review: I agree with most people on this site; their customer service department leaves a lot to be desired. I purchased my new home in 2004 and have religiously renewed my warranty each year. I've never contacted them until now, and at first they tried to give me the run around. My a/c went out and I was unable to find my 2009 agreement and the rep said he couldn't find it by my address. I was instructed to call accounts payable and be prepared to show proof of payment. Thank goodness for online banking! Honestly, the accounts payable rep was very helpful and apologized for the confusion caused by the rude rep that I initially spoke with. Once they located my account, it was really smooth sailing from that point. Within 10 minutes of filing the claim with 2-10, the local contractor contacted me. By 3 pm the same day, the contractor was at my home. The tech was very kind and seemed knowledable about the system. My coils had frozen over, so the tech turned off the unit and returned the next day to service it (which was a Friday). I paid my $50 service charge and was assured that I would not be charged this again. The next day, the tech returned and did a test to discover that the coils were leaking. He explained that they would need to be replaced. In the meantime, the unit was operating at full capacity, so my family would not be uncomfortable. Anyway, the contractor contacted 2-10, got the replacement approved and once they order the part, they returned the next week for installation. Now there was a $100 charge to "remove the old freon," but from what I understand from most people, this service would normally cost upwards of $1800-$2000. With this being the case, I'm basically pleased at the process.

  • Review: Everything that all the prior reviews have said is completely true. The company seems to do everything they can to slow this process down and screw the customer. If you have this company as your home warranty provider, you have to call everyday and do all the coordination with the repair company. If they say they'll call, they won't, so be on top of things.

  • Review: i am giving everyone a fair WARNING!! This company is very screwy! They give you the run around about not being covering you when clearly in the terms and conditions a problem should have been covered. I have had to fax in one piece of paper work 3 dfferent times because they always seem to "misplace" the paper. Customer Service was extremly rude and unhelpuful. They have taken our money for a year because we sign a contract with them but have yet to help us out with any problem! DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY AWAY TO THEIS CROOKED COMPANY!!

  • Review: Our water heater went out a little over 2 weeks ago. I did not realize that I was supposed to call Old Republic first. I called a plumber and had our water heater replaced, THEN read my warranty info, oops. Realizing my mistake, I started to look for info online about Old Republic and came across this site. My hopes of recovering the money we'd just paid for a new water heater were greatly diminished after reading many of these reviews. However, I mentioned my mistake to our realtor, who suggested I send the invoice anyway. Old Republic covered a little more than half what we paid. (They told us they were willing to pay us what it would've cost them to fix the problem) According their contract they weren't obligated to pay anything, since I had not called them first. I am very pleased with how Old Republic handled the situation. I had to rate them above simply because there was not an N/A choice, however, when I did talk to people in their call center they were very helpful and nice. As I stated in the beginning of this review, the problem occurred just over 2 weeks ago. We received a check from them yesterday!

  • Review: All in the span of 3 months...hot water heater went out and they said it was not installed correctly, so nothing was covered - $1100. Beginning of December (highs in the 20's and 30's), heater/AC unit goes out and after 2 days, my repair was still not approved. When finally approved, it would take 6-10 business days to receive the unit at the repair office. This means AT LEAST 2 weeks before it is replaced. Also, if I used their co., there were $1100 in uncovered expenses. I said forget it, send me the cash payout. The amount they approved for the payout is $1730 (2 independent estimates I got were $4600). Independent co. had it replaced the same day. I requested payout on 12/06/08 and as of 12/27/08 I am still waiting on the check. I would cancel this policy if I could. Absolutely the biggest scam I have ever been a participant in.
