  • Review: I have been trying to get my dryer fixed since late September. It has now been more than ONE MONTH and absolutely NOTHING has been resolved. This is the most aggravating experience i've had in dealing with a warranty company. Zip Appliance service is who you guys contracted out to me on SEPT 30TH!!! Every time they say they are coming, SOMETHING comes up. When we were finally scheduled last Wednesday October 26th, I get a call (after i've taken 1/2 a day off of work) to say that the part is broken in the box and they need to reorder. i finally call at 1 pm (they were supposed to come between 9 & 1 pm and they tell me this part is BROKEN AGAIN. I get a call this afternoon and say that they've "expedited the part" and its due in tomorrow NOVEMBER 1. honestly, 30 days+ to order a part and fix a simple problem with a clothes dryer is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. My question is why was this part NOT expedited 2 WEEKS AGO.I really am just furious and fed up. I have back problems and hauling all my we laundry to and from the laundromat is reaking havoc on my back and I am at the point where I am about to cancel my policy with you folks and just buy a new dryer. I'd rather spend my money on that and leave behind this aggrevation. I spoke with your rep by the name of matt twice today who said that someone would send me an email confirming that sensible would cover ALL services rendered by an outside service of my choice. I have YET to received any emails and nothing is in my spam folder. I just can't understand what sort of business you or these contractors you work with are running. I have again, never in my life experienced such horrible service

Zip Appliance service is who they contracted out to me on SEPT 30TH!!! Everytime they say they are coming, SOMETHING comes up. The 1st was the key pad not being ordered. Ok..so that took an extra week. 2. When we were finally scheduled last Wednesday October 26th, I get a call (after i've taken 1/2 a day off of work) to say that the part is broken in the box and they need to reorder. I asked if they had expedited shipment which they DID NOT as the part did not come in until FRIDAY Oct 28 thus my appt was scheduled for today. 3. TODAY, I get NO PHONE CALL and i finally call at 1 pm (they were supposed to come between 9 & 1 pm and they tell me this part is BROKEN AGAIN!!! Honestly, I think these people aren't even putting any orders in and are just playing a crule joke on me. • Review: It is better if you don't carry this home warranty b/c you need to pay the $75 deductible before you can talk about the coverage. The contractor they sent to our house was rude, arrogant and unprofessional. I was told by HSA, twice, that the problem was not covered. It seems to me that nothing is covered by this warranty. I will never use it again. And please don't buy it.

  • Review: I had SHW for a year and a half and found them to be rude with terrible customer service. I had them come out 4 times I believe, and 3 of the times that problems still persisted. We had coverage for both of our places, and one of them lapsed (without us knowing and without them reminding us). When I contacted them about an issue (two weeks after it had lapsed, but while still paying them for my other place) they made no exceptions and said we have to treat you like a first time customer. They became belligerent when I questioned their policy.

  • Review: This program is really a life saver no joke. I just bought a house while I was getting my Masters degree in DC and I rent it out to a few other college friends who live with me. 2 months in my friends broke my dishwasher, refridge was going out, and I had electric problems (COLLEGE RETARDED FRIENDS!) so ARW came out and fixed it right away and saved me over 1 thousand dollars... Honestly I would recommend this to anyone... If you have any questions you can email me at [email protected] and I would more then be happy to refer you and get the 75$ gift card, also so people can believe this is a real review and know how good American Residential is if you have any questions feel free to contact me... -John O

  • Review: Well, I've been in my house just shy of a year (by a couple months) and my heater has stopped working. So far, I've been told I'd get emergency service — haven't heard from anyone. I called the next day (this morning) and was given the number for the company that would be servicing the house. The phone number was 214 area code, but I live in 215 (different states). I asked her to confirm the 214 and she did. I called 214-xxx-xxxx and the number did not exist. I called 215-xxx-xxxx and the number went to an anonymous voicemail box. I called and spoke with someone else who has seemingly gone the extra mile, but I won't know that for sure for another half-hour or more. As you can tell, I'm not impressed with AHS at all. They certainly got the "we never graduated high school" representatives who, so far, all say in their greeting: "To whom am I speaking with?" Uh, it's "To whom am I speaking?" Their lack of educated reps in general gives me little hope that this is a legitimate company. Might be time to call the BBB.

  • Review: I must say Choice has a GREAT customer service staff, however, service for home repair is another question. On a few occasions when I place a service call on a WEEKDAY, I was told that the staff had left for the day. How do you run a company and allow the staff to leave hours before you stop placing service calls. They are not available on weekends to approve ANY claims. I have had technicians come out on the weekends, only to leave without fixing anything because no claims could be approved. You can call in service calls but no one will be assigned until the next business day.

  • Review: I have had many problems with my 100 year old house this year. The best thing I ever did was get Sensible home warranty. I had another warranty group and once they made a decision it was final, SHW at least listen to me and went back to their underwritters and changed their mind. You alway get your orginal call picked up by a real person and the customer service rep will give you their direct extension if you ask for it. MB Philly

  • Review: It's weird that HSA even sells policies in my area, because they had one company under contract to look at my roof. It turned out he didn't have insurance, so he called me right before my appointment (when I had already come home just for that) to tell me he couldn't come. When I called HSA, they said just get anyone in the area to come and have him call while at my house. When I called after the guy had checked out my roof, the "lady" was somewhat angry that I had done this, because HSA had assigned me to another company...so apparently communication is not one of their best skills. We had the home inspected before we bought it, and the inspector said it was nicely done. Now it is leaking, but HSA says that the fact that it started leaking 9 months after we bought the house is a pre-existing condition, because the guy wants to redo it to fix the problem...awesome. Too bad for HSA they don't realize that we are military and will be buying lots of houses over our lifetime as we move around. This means they have lost quite a bit of money from us because we will never buy another policy. This also means they have lost quite a bit of money from our friends, because they are also military and move a lot and we will advise them not to get tangled up in this shady business. The insurance game is not to pay to fix anything. The guy who came out to look at our roof said warranty companies will call him 6 or 7 times per claims that they deem to be covered, just to make sure he really thinks the fix is necessary. Bottom line- HSA is shady ops.

  • Review: I was a little skeptical reading other responses from this company until I recently had a problem with my water heater. The water heater was 19 yrs old and in good shape, had minimum rust and was leaking water from the bottom. I called Choice and they sent the claim to the review board (not sure who they are) and I was told that the it was not covered under their warranty due to it not holding water in the holding tank, which is not covered under the warranty. Be sure to look at your policy, this company will do anything to avoid a claim if possible.

  • Review: I received the HSA Home Warranty when I purchased my first home last year. I input a claim on my roof about 8 months later and was told the process by the CSR. I located a roofer who contacted HSA and the claim was approved. The work on the roof was done; I paid the roofer and submitted the bill for reimbursement. I was paid, minus the deductible, within a month. Since that process went smoothly, I renewed my contract for another year. Now I have some water issues and submitted another claim. After reading these complaints, I am leery about that decision. With this recent claim submitted, I was assigned a plumber, and the CSR stated "normal wear and tear". This makes me think that they're plumber will come out and state something other than normal wear and tear and therefore the claim will be denied. I do not have a problem with continuously renewing my contract and never having the need to submit a claim. But I want a company to be objective and willing to honor a claim if submitted. I read the CEO's message and did not see where he addressed the complaints of "normal wear and tear." I challenge the company to be objective and responsible in looking at each case and honor claims submitted, as most people purchased a contract for the security of knowing that the options they signed up for are covered. This is the first time I wrote an online review on anything, but my first home is important to me and I felt secure with knowing that I had a home warranty, and I want to continue to have that feeling. I will post again after the water issue. Thanks

  • Review: We've had 2 claims. Roof - Our contractor came out and based on what he told them, they decided it was a pre-existing leak and not under contract. We've lived through an extremly rainy summer and the leak did not start until 3 months after we moved in. I'm angry that money was spent on a warranty to cover something like this and now it's denied. I had to go through a month of sending them information like home inspection, sellers disclosure and none of it is good enough - they won't even talk to the contractor again. The only proof they'll accept is receipts from the former owners, one who is no longer living. Heater - the closest contractor they had to us was 40 miles away (we're 5 miles from Philadelphia). This caused a little conflict, but was OK in the end. The system is like HMO for your house. You can't do anything without a referral. We'll problably get another home warranty once this one is over, but definitely not with HSA.

  • Review: HSA sold the sellers of our home a warranty. We were not provided with a contract, just a false sense of security from thinking that the house's systems were sound. 1 month later when our furnace broke (in the dead of winter), HSA wanted to take 3 days to send a service company. Due to my objections, we received a house call that day. However, it took 23 additional days (with no heat) for HSA to tell me that they would not cover the damage because it was caused by "corrosion." I received this response only after numerous phone calls that were not returned. A second opinion would cost me $$ out-of-pocket. Then their local contractor tried to tell me that I needed $400 in uncovered repairs. I declined and replaced the pipe myself for $15. Today they sent me a renewal notice. I don't think so. Buyer Beware: A home warranty is essentially worthless as any problems can be blamed on corrosion or poor maintenance. It is merely window dressing added to make a house on the market seem more attractive.
