  • Review: I've filed two claims with HWA since the purchase of our policy. Our experience on the first claim definitely doesn't deserve an excellent rating, but it was not HWA's fault. The vendor was not on time, considerate, caring, nor did they submit the claim to HWA immediately. Had a broken dishwasher for THREE weeks!! Our second claim was exactly the opposite. I complained about the last vendor and HWA sent out a better one. Had my oven fixed in literally three days. Unbelievable! Everytime I call, HWA customer service reps are amazing. They are professional, courteous, and respectful. They care about you and strive to get the job done fast. I highly recommend HWA for my area and definitely plan to renew our policy. I hope they continue to work hard and stay in business; there are not many home warranty companies worthy of this type of commendation.

  • Review: Our air conditioner stopped working on the hottest day of the year. We called in a claim and wondered how long it would take till we would be cool in our home again. The service company called the next morning and came out to fix the problem. It only took two days and the guys that they sent were professional and friendly. They fixed the problem in a couple of hours and we were back to normal. Great service we couldn't be happier.

  • Review: Horrible service. I called because a pipe cracked near the side of the house. The CSR just kept repeating that it wasn't covered because it didn't happen within the four walls of the home. I finally got him to read that section in the contract & it stated "within the perimeter of the main foundation of the home." Which at that time I explained to him that the pipe was within the perimeter & then he just kept repeating four walls over & over again. I spoke to a lead & same thing. I got so frustrated that I decided to call back again later. I think their main purpose is not to help you & piss you off.

  • Review: Oh I am so mad. I called to renew my coverage with them (despite being unhappy, someone told me that no Home Warranty company is good - they have sent me crappy technicians, slow technicians, I called and complained about several and said never send them to me again) but the worst was when they told me that my dishwasher racks were covered. I was incensed as I had gone around with this company about my dishwasher racks and we wound up purchasing a new dishwasher b/c they said that they did not cover racks, and yet now, when I go to renew, they say that they do. Plus the claims dept is closed so I can't chat with them and absolutely no interest in keeping my business. So I am going to find another company. I am furious.

  • Review: Avoid AHS for Heating / cooling issue. my issue is this... they're cheap - they contract with the "cheapest" service companies - where the technicians are not trained or qualified to work on high efficiency units. all the tech's do in guess and replace pieces hoping that something will fix the issue. in the - they quickly hit the $1500 limit replacing components and the unit still didn't work.

  • Review: Horrible!!! First we had trouble with our breaker box it smelled completely burned when we called OR they stated that their contractors would'nt be able to make it out for a few dayS! So instead of risk a fire we hired someone and then tried to get reimbursed...did not happen even showed them a work order with the chargers and the contractors info. and typed a letter explaining why we needed to go with someone who could make it out right away. Next, our A/C unit gave out (the compressor) but their technician was sent out and stated to the agent that the A/C unit should be replaced it was very old and they simply said to just replace the compressor, the tech then stated that would temporarily solve the problem but no telling how long it would last? OR still insisted on having them go the cheap route...so 3-5 days later we should have the compressor in. Oh and we live in South Texas where it is hot as hell and sooo humid!!! This co. is horrible they are always trying to find ways NOT to pay!

  • Review: I have been a customer of this company's for almost 3 years. I am sad to say that I will be transferring to a different home warranty company. Over the past couple of years the price has increased and they are not competitive with other warranty companies available. I have had two minor claims in the past two years, one was for a part for my oven, it took almost a month for them to get it operating and the other was work on a toilet. The company they sent out for the oven I refuse to ever use again and when the toilet was repaired they sent me a check to have the wall repaired where the company had cut into it. It has been more effort than benefit using Old Republic so I am moving to a different company.

  • Review: We had AHS for over a year and were due to renew but we decided against it. Mainly because of a situation I encountered with my hot tub. I had a couple of small repairs with my pool pump etc. None were very complicated. A heater circuit board malfunctioned on my hot tub/spa and AHS sent a repair person out he checked it told us he would find the part and call us back when it arrived. We waited Weeks and tried calling him back he never called back. We called AHS and they stated the company stated they could find the part. SO my husband searched for the part. He found it, called AHS back told them where the part could be found (the cost was $500). They claimed that none of their service companies could order through their catalogs so we would have to buy the part then pay someone else to install it. Then ask AHS to reimburse the repair. If your repair is too costly, AHS will do everything in their power to avoid having the repair done. The service they provide is not worth the hassle. If I wanted to pay 750 to have things repaired why would I have a home warranty policy?

  • Company Name: 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty

  • Review: We simply cannot justify paying any amount of money to continue with 2-10 Home Warranty any longer. We have used 2-10 for the following services: a leaking toilet, a clogged kitchen sink, and a broken dishwasher. NONE of these items were EVER fixed through the use of our home warranty despite paying the service fees for the multiple visits. #1) When the toilet was leaking, it took several days for a plumber to come out to look at it. When the plumber came out they informed us that they did not have the proper items/tools to fix the leak, as it was coming from the tank, and they were under the impression that the leak was coming from elsewhere (how they got the wrong impression here is beyond me, as I told 2-10 exactly where the leak was coming from). They collected the $55 service fee from us and said that they would contact us the next day to send someone out with the right equipment. After a week without any contact, we contacted 2-10 again about the problem. The company contacted us with a new date for a new plumber to come out again. Several days later, the new plumber came out and said that there was a leak coming from a crack in our tank (which obviously we were aware of, as that is why we called!) and that the leak was not covered by our home warranty and there was nothing they could do to fix it. During all this time, we went through several bath towels and a moldy smelling bathroom due to the ongoing steady drip from the tank. I finally went to Home Depot and talked to an employee there who directed me to marine epoxy that fixed the leak for $5 in a matter of minutes. That was several months ago and the leak has not returned. #2) Our kitchen sink was clogged and we contacted 2-10, this time asking for a different company to come out, as we were dissatisfied with the toilet situation. The new company came out and the plumber said that he could not fix our clog, after about three hours of trying and making a mess all over the place that he never cleaned up. He complained the whole time about his company and used foul language to describe his boss and wore ratty clothes because he said he "refused to wear their stupid uniforms." He said that maybe he could fix the clog "if his company wasn't so cheap that they could afford a decent pipe snake." After giving up on the clog, he said that he just "suddenly realized" that our pipes under the sink were not up to code and that was probably the problem. Our house is a new home that passed inspection for everything before we bought it. Because this plumber said our pipes were not up to code, 2-10 said that they would not send out another plumber to look at the problem. Again, the $55 was collected, and nothing was fixed and the plumber left a mess all over our hardwood floors. I contacted a rooter company that cost me only $80 ($25 more than I just paid) and the plumber responded the same day and fixed the clog in less than 30 minutes. This plumber made very little mess at all and cleaned up after himself where water was left. I asked him to look at our pipes, because the previous plumber said that they were not to code. He said that our pipes were installed the only way that he's ever seen pipes under a sink and that they were to code and there was nothing wrong with them. This was a journeyman plumber. #3) The heating element on our dishwasher went out. When 2-10 had the plumber contact us, they said it would be about a week out. I complained about the previous plumber they sent regarding the sink and they told me "if if makes you feel any better, that guy was fired." It doesn't really make me feel any better that he lied to my home warranty company and because of that I had to pay the $55 for nothing, plus an additional $80 to have someone competent fix my drain. The dishwasher guy finally came out and collected the $55 and said that a part needed to be ordered that would take a while to come in. Over a full month later, the heating element came in and was installed. After he took apart the dishwasher, and put it back together, the dial now sticks. I contacted the company again and they said that because it's a new problem, I have to submit a new claim with 2-10 first. This problem didn't exist before they took apart the dishwasher to begin with! Called 2-10 again. This fact didn't matter to 2-10. I also told them that the previous time they used this company, the plumber said our pipes weren't to code (which I later learned was not true) and he spent 3 hours making a mess when a privately hired rooter company fixed the problem in 30 minutes. 2-10 didn't seem to care. ANOTHER $55 later, the guy came out to try and fix it. He couldn't figure out why it was sticking and decided to order another part. He ended coming out about three more times to try and fix this one problem, with anywhere between 2 weeks and 5 weeks between visits, ordering new parts each time. From the first day that he came out to look at the dishwasher until the last time, the process took OVER THREE MONTHS. Three months without a working dishwasher is unacceptable! AND it never was fixed. We ended up buying a whole new machine, simply because we were tired of dealing with the headaches. I cannot recommend 2-10 home warranty to anyone and have been very displeased with their service and choice of local companies used. Both companies used had completely incompetent workers and delayed response and 2-10 did not seem to care.

  • Review: *REALTORS* STOP RECOMMENDING THIS COMPANY JUST SO YOU CAN SELL A HOUSE! Our furnace went out a week ago. We have two sick kids, one with chronic bronchitis. We called HWA and they contacted a contractor to come out. He did, the next day. He told us that he would recommend a replacement part to HWA and it shouldn't be long. The contractor was great. The owner of the company has been trying to help us. HWA is a nightmare! First, Brenda, couldn't tell me why the claim was denied. When I told her I wanted a quote from my warranty that describes why, she quickly put me on hold while she came up with something. The excuse she came up with was not at all applicable to us. I shot that down only to be put on hold again. She came back and told us that our claim would be approved. She was going to check rates and get back to me. When she called back, she told me that they were going to "buy out" our claim. They would issue a check for the full amount quoted for the repair, but we wouldn't get the check for 4-6 weeks. I called the furnace company to verify the amount and they were upset as well. They had worked very hard to find the part for our old furnace expecting to get paid to fix it. Now, they don't get a thing, we still have no heat and we have to pay up front to fix this thing ourselves and hope that they are actually sending a check. The real kicker is that the contractor took the part with him and says he can't return it to us without authorization for HWA. So, we can't even have anyone else look at it until they do their jobs. NOTE TO BRENDA AT HWA: JUST BECAUSE YOUR CONTRACT SAYS YOU CAN, DOESN'T MEAN THAT IT IS ETHICAL OR EVEN GOOD BUSINESS! THE HUMANE THING TO DO WOULD BE TO REPAIR THE FURNACE AND PAY THE CONTRACTOR. IT'S THE MIDDLE OF JANUARY.

  • Review: My first experience with Fidelity Home Warranty has been very poor. I recieved a telephone call from Fidelity to authorize a service call that had been made the day before. The Authorizing agent from Fidelity was hostile from the beginning of the conversation. When I politely asked a question the tone in which I was answered was condisending. I was forced to ask 3 seperate times for another representative to speak to. Although the second representative was more helpful the taste left in my mouth is still bitter. I would not suggest this company to any friend or family.
