- Review: We purchased 2 policies at the end of Dec 2011, recommended by our friend who has been with Arkidus for over a year, at their year end special! When our tenant moved out in January, we did a walkthrough of the house and found several issues with plumbing. We called Ray Berges, our agent to file a claim. Ray was very professional and handled the claim right away. The plumber came the next morning and fixed two leaking faucets. The entire process was painless and we highly recommend this company to any homeowners who are looking for home warranty services.

- Review: I would like to echo the poor reviews of CMHW protraying a company they are not. I thought i was getting a home warranty from CMHW and instead got paperwork for Prime Home Plans/Choice Plans LLC. This is a very deceptive practice and hopefully there will be legal repercussions to this deceptive practice that CMHW is perpetrating. Folks need to know this info up front that they are not getting a warranty from CMHW, but that from a company they sell their leads too.

- Review: After making a service request to fix a hot water heater, I had to get contact the repair company to have it fixed. After paying out of pocket, it has taken 5 months to get a refund (which I am still waiting on), all because Sensible did not process my claim! I should have stayed with AHS. I had 4 claims with them, and not 1 issue. I will be going back to AHS when my contract ends with Sensible. Very disappointed!!

- Review: I called this company at 9am on Tuesday morning to flow up on a request I had submitted the previous day. The man that answered the phone - Alex, asked me several questions about my claim and then said he was an off site receptionist and I would have to wait for someone to call me back. Unfortunatley for him, I had read reviews about sensible and how slow they are in responding to call backs that I was unwilling to wait for this to happen. After being on the phone with him for 15 minutes where he was not able to get someone to address my issue; I then asked if I should go ahead and call back myself where I might have better luck speaking with a rep. Lo and behold, the "director of customer service" Simon answers the phone. He is so rude, no wonder the reps are also just as unpleasant; he actually stated that if I wanted to cancel the warranty he was more than happy to do that for me (before they repair the HVAC? I don't think so!!!). I called in over 24 hours ago to report a broken HVAC with no heat with temps in the low 30s. I have 2 small kids and asked them to expedited service because of this. It seems like they will not be able to get anyone here until 72 hours after the initial request. Their service sucks! BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!! and I will definately NOT renew this contract!!!

- Review: Several reasons not to use AHS American Home Shield. 1st, they said my number was dissconnected when they tried to call (wrong), 2nd it took two days to get a plumber here, and 3rd finally the AHS (once again) said this issue was not covered under the warrenty. This was the second time they said a plumbing issue was not covered and they were not related. Save your money, and pay for the services out right. Fred in Raleigh, NC

They are scam artist and their customer service is the worst I have ever seen. Twice now I have called for my ac issue and no one has called me! They say they have a 24hr turn around time but that it bull&%#^. Save yourself some money and some stress and do not buy a home warrenty from these scam artist. I hope who ever runs this company is locked up.

- Review: Terrible customer service - had an appliance fail, they have had me schedule FOUR visits by techs - and now out of the air claim the problem is due to a power surge and want a 3rd company (5th visit) to come investigate further. This has been going on for almost 2 months. They keep you on hold, lie, misdirect and stall. Very dishonest company.

- Review: My a/c outside unit quit the first day of the summer season. It took a couple days to get someone out, but I don't blame Sensible, just the timing of the year and the fact that the service techs were busy making calls. Luckily for me I have two units in my house so it was no big deal. All I expect for a warranty company is that they will cover what they say they cover and that it is fixed in a reasonable amount of time. They blew away expectations and I would recommend them to anyone.

- Review: I understand that during the winter months, there is an increase in appliance failures - that being said, I have been waiting for 11 days for my furnace to be repaired. And if that wasn't enough, the hot water heater then started leaking. A technician came out, took one look and said it could not be fixed, it would have to be replaced. He told me First Am would be contacting me regarding the replacement. That was 6 days ago. I have called them 4 times to inquire about the price they would reimburse me if I decided to cash out, and replace the hot water heater with a better one. I have been told that they are busy. I have been hung up on (after waiting on hold for 24 minutes). I have been told that once the claim goes to "Purchasing" it will take 24-48 hours. I have been snapped at because they are in California, and I am in North Carolina (I'm sorry - but by the time they drag themselves into their offices at 9:00am PST, I have already been up for 6 hours!). I have children and an elderly parent living with me (85 years old!). The plumbing company is wanting to work with me - but I can't tell them anything until I hear from First Am. This is not the first incident - I have had their contractors come out and tell me something was not covered (still had to pay the $60 though!); I have had their contractors come out and just "jimmy-rig" something so it would work, and then never come back to fix it properly; I have had their contractors come out and spend hours - then tell me it is all fixed, only to have the same problem two days later. This is the company that covered the house when I bought it two years ago. I will NOT be renewing my coverage with them - it looks like there are plenty of good companies out there, some even on the East Coast!

- Review: I am a real estate broker and have used several warranty companies over the years, both persoanally and for my clients. I decided to try a different company when I was purchasing a warranty for my personall residence recently. What a HUGE mistake I made in making the choice to go with Colonial! I was told one thing when I was interviewing them prior to purchase and then was met with a completely different story when a claim was made. I am still in the process of trying to get a refund for the warranty I purchased, and I expect it to be as difficult as anything else I've encountered to date. Whatever you do, if you are looking for a home warranty company, please save yourselves the headache and look elsewhere.

- Review: AHS contracts are not clear in many areas and their representatives have no clue. I have had a problem where a technition servicing my A/C unit said a part was about to fail and it needed to be replaced. We called and made the situation clear. They dispatched their approved technition and then said they wouldn't cover it until after it failed completely. Recently had the same problem with a dripping water dispenser in the fridge. They contract was clear that it was not covered but we made the mistake of calling AHS instead of reviewing the contract. Again we made it clear what the problem was. They said OK, dispatched a technition only to call me after the fact and tell me it wasn't covered. That is poor customer service of the worst kind in my book. Be very careful about getting an approved authorization before you proceed.

- Review: Avoid this company like the plague. They use any excuse to avoid paying any claims. I filed a claim for a water heater that was not heating properly. There was no leak. The service technician arrived and said that the heater needed to be replaced. Choice Home Warranty denied the claims stating that since there was a leak the hot water heater was not covered. The hot water heater has never leaked. The representative stated that the repair techncian's report stated there is a leak. I told her that I should know if my hot water heater leaked and she replied that I should take it up with the technician.

They have collected possibly millions and now it time they pay up and stand behind their work and the warantees they push for consumers like you and I to buy.

- Review: The list "in network" contractors that AHS had to service our refrigerator was so small every company had a 4-5 day service call lead time! We had an appointment scheduled with Sears, to have them come out and service our refrigerator, but American Home Shield canceled that appointment when they declared we had been upgraded to an "emergency status" yet they didn't have another appointment with a new company! Now we have to wait an additional 3 days to have a different company come out and do the repair! This repair could have been done in the same day had we not had to use their "in network" contractor (i.e. if we opened up the phone and called any contractor). This home warranty policy is a huge waste of our money and time!

- Review: I was an AHS customer for several years and switched to Choice Home Warranty last December 2009. 3 months later the performance of one of my heat pumps went down and I submitted a claim with CHW. Only then I got to see what they are about: It took them several days to send a contractor out. The contractor came looked at the heat pump and said it had a leak and he was going to contact CHW and to determine the course of action. It took couple more days and we didn't hear back. When we called, we were told that they consider it a pre-existing condition and it was not covered. I called back and demanded to talk to a manager/supervisor. After a lengthy discussion, I was patched througha man who said his name was Patrick, who was totally un-professional. He said from the get go: "Sir, you signed up with CHW, and the first day you needed your AC, you submitted a claim. This is a pre-existing condition and it is not covered." implying that I had lied to them. I told him that first of all, my unit is a heat pump and not an AC. Secondly, it has been running perfectly well all winter long. He wasn't impressed. He kept restating that my AC had a leak and the Freon had drained long before I signed up with Choice Home Warranty. Today (April 27th), I called them to cancel my contracts (I have two properties) and all they did was telling me that they will get back to me". I will be looking for people who are interested in filing/joining a Class Action Suit against Choice Home Warranty which I hope will protect others.

- Review: I have made three claims over the three years I have had the warranty. One was fixed by the serviceman when he came to evaluate my HVAC problem and the trip charge covered that. The second was a garage door opener which was replaced, no problem. The third was a hot water tank. In the last case be aware that there are a lot of items that are not covered (permits, bimetal couplings, and expansion tanks). The repair cost me $400 but it was substantially cheaper than if I had to pay for the whole thing. All I can say is read the contract, so far they are meeting that.
