  • Review: i have american home shield, my ac quit on june 5, i put in a request to have it looked at, they did not call me to set up an appointment, i had to call the ac people to get the appointment. they were unable to come out till june 8, the service man came out and replaced the run cap for the fan motor, took him 2 min. tops. so my air was on but not cooling the house, so i called the company back on (a-us air conditioning of texas) june 13 because the fan started stopping then restarting again. they could not come out till the 15, well they came out today and replaced the fan and the motor, now its 85 deg in my home and it is still not working, it only worked for approx. 1 1/2 hour, then stopped the motor is still running and the fan is not. the repair man that came out stated when he left, that if we had any problems he would come out and fix the unit, to call him personally, well we have called twice, and he has yet to return our call. and i called the company and they have yet to return our call. this is very poor service. i hope by tommorrow i will get my ac fixed. but i am not holding my breath.

  • Review: Have had FA for several years. As someone else (sic) said, "When they're good, they're very, very good, and when they're bad they're horrible." We have had several claims with some exceptional service (I teach customer service) and several with incompetent vendors (I have also headed up city and county building inspection departments and have some knowledge of contractor competence). In general, FA has tried to correct the deficiencies by sending out an alternate vendor, so I could fault their initial contractor selection process. Finally, know that they replace plumbing fixtures with so-called "builder standard" ones, so if you have upgraded fixtures you will not get them replaced nor will you be able to have the contractor install one of your choice.

  • Review: I called because the electricity had gone out in my entire upstairs. It took a day for AHS to call the locally contracted electrician, and another day for the electrician to be able to come. He couldn't find the problem at first, so we had to schedule a second time for a longer diagnostic appointment a little over a week later (if you're keeping a tally, this is TWO WEEKS without electricity in my upstairs). He couldn't find anything the second time, so he said he would see what else AHS would let him do. A week later, I hadn't heard from him or AHS, so I finally called him back to see what was going on. He said AHS was giving him conflicting messages about what they would and wouldn't cover, and he had asked AHS to call me directly, which AHS said they would. This was last week, and I still haven't heard from AHS, nor can I get a real person on the phone. It has been THREE WEEKS that I've been surviving on extension cords run up from the basement. I'm finally finding an electrician on my own to fix this. I can't wait around on a company that doesn't care about me or my home.

  • Review: This is the 3rd time i place a service call with Total Protect. The first two were problems with the garage door. Both times, door was fixed in a timely manner with no problems. This last time, there was a water leak in an water line located in the attic. I had water dripping in my master bedroom. I placed the service call and within 5 hours problem was fixed. No hassles whatsoever. I recommend this insurance to anyone despite all the bad reviews.

  • Review: I was told by one of their telephone salesmen that I would have a month to review the details of the service agreement (which by the way are not on their web site!) and that if I didn't like it....I could cancel without any charges and a full refund would be given. I reviewed the policy which states for example that if your refrigerator can't be fixed they will replace it but they will not guatantee that the color, model, or size of the replacement fridge! So I called them to cancel my policies within the 30 day perion and two weeks before the policies were even supposed to start and now 6 months later I'm still fighting with them to refund my money. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for home warranty insurance.
