- Review: I bought my first home 7 years ago and had an existing American Home Shield warranty when I bought it. I was pretty ignorant of home warranties and thought it was a good deal at the time. I knew nothing of contracting or what it meant to read the fine print. But I am wiser now after having oversight of government contracts for the past 5 years. I have kept renewing the contract year after year for the peace of mind knowing that things would be fixed. Everything was okay until this summer when oen of my AC units went out in the middle of 100+ degree weather. This AC unit serviced an extension that I have on my home where my family room is located. First of all I am single and have a mon-fri job. It was on a Friday when i called it in. I expected to hear from the AC repair place on Saturday to set up appointment. I called and they were closed on Saturday and only open until 5 mon-fri. I called AHS to see if they could refer me to someone who could come out on weekends...answer was NO. Took a week to get appointment. Technician shows up 4 hours late after i took off work. Serviced unit with refrigerant and was rushing around to get home on a friday night..performed no leak check. Leaked down again in about 3 days. Called and had to wait 30 minutes for them to answer. Same Mom and Pop AC repair place came out. The technician said the previous guy left something loose...the reserviced and still did not perform leak check of system. 3 days later leaked down again. Here it was friday night again and AC not working. I called and the girl from AHS said that since this was the third time it was upgraded to emergency status (i had taken off work twice). Said if the company wouldnt come out they would refer me to another one. Never heard a word back that night. Called next morning and the lady I spoke to was very rude and said there was no way that i was getting emergency service. I asked to speak to supervisor...she was very rude as well. Pretty much told me tough luck, did not care that I had taken off work 5 hours already. After i threatened to cancel service if they did not reference me to another company that would actually repair my AC they sent another company out 4 days later. This company said that the compressor was bad (they think). AHS decided to change entire condenser unit (covered under warranty) but wanted to charge me $250 disposal fee and $200 refrigerant reclamation fee. When i called the manager of AC company to question process he was unable to explain. I stated that i would dispose of the unit myself and would pay the refrigerant reclamation fee, he said he had to talk to AHS. I said "What do they have to do with it?" You know if you can let me dispose of the unit or not...it is your business. Come to find out after speaking to other AC repairmen it is just a scam to recoup money. They will not only charge you to dispose of the unit but actually sell it for about 100 scrap metal. After i said i would dispose of it myself they never called me back. I have no idea of the status of my claim. My AC has been out for a month and i have missed a total of 13 hours of work.

- Review: The time they allow themselves to schedule service for you is ridiculous especially for heating and ac problems. Five service calls and eight days later my ac is still not working. I live in the south and the heat index has been >100 degrees most days. Other comments are accurate...they do not advocate for their customers and provide the bare minimum. I would rather pay more on my own and get decent service. Live and learn.............

- Review: Do not use this company!! I have never used a company who was so unprofessional, worthless, time comsuming in the manner that they operate. Air Conditioner went out, took 1 month to fix. Broke down 2 more times still got run around, fixed, lasted 3 months and now compressor is out again. Stilling waiting after a week and still not fixed.

- Review: Absolutely awful!!! I cannot offer any positive reinforcement for this company. We have kept our warranty for three years. Every year in or around August our central air unit would break down. The first two years the problem was fixed by one of their a/c repair companies. We had to wait at least three days each time. (August in Eastern South Carolina can be terminal if you do not have adequate means of keeping cool) We endured and the problem was repaired until the next August. Well this time it was Sept before the AC shut down again. A1 Affordable came out per 2/10s' request. They told my husband that the unit was not draining properly and it caused the unit to shut down as a safety. Then they left. They removed one gallon of water from the unit tray in the attic. The next day the unit shuts down again. My ceiling in my kitchen is now covered in water spots from the attic ac unit. My husband goes up in the attic and removes the remaining water. Several gallons. Two weeks later when we are using the unit again, after a cool spell, the unit stops working. I call 2 10. They advise I have to allow A1 an opportunity to fix the problem because they did not fix it the first time. That was on a Friday. Mon A1 calls to schedule. I advised I cannot be there but on Wed or Thurs due to a new job. They can't be there until the following Wed, 10 days later. Well the weather has been comfortable so fine. The appointment day arrives and the repairman has broken down. A1 office calls and says they cannot make it until Mon. Again I explain Wed or Thurs. Ok, one more week before they will come. I called a professional hvac company to come out and fix my problem. Now I am happy but not with 2 10 or their contractors. Take the money for you would spend on this home warranty and put it into a savings account until a problem arises. You will then be able to fix your problem without the frustration of dealing with a company that does not stand behind their service.

- Review: Horrible customer service. Made me wait 4 months to get my dishwasher repaired… sent the same bad repairman twice. After he couldn’t fix it, they said, and I am literally quoting, that “You must have broken it on purpose. We won’t cover it”. We then spent the day convincing them to send out someone for a second opinion, which they only promised to do after making us promise we would pay a VERY high fee if the second guy said we abused the dishwasher. When the second guy fixed the dishwasher and said we were not at fault, they said “We can’t prove that” and would not apologize. I’m in my 30s and have been around the block with customer service people, and this is the worst I’ve ever seen. DO NOT USE.
