- Review: I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I had an AHS home warranty purchased for us by our realtor, as all of the agents with that company do so, per their policy, for buying clients. In the first year we have lived in our new, used home, we have called on the AC twice, and an electrical issue. The two AC calls alone paid for the yearly contract fee. The unit was wired in an odd way, and he had to figure it out and then came back out to let us know the door on our furnace was a little lose, hence the reason the AC wasn't working again. Both times he was very quick to get here as the temperatures were over 90 and it was quite uncomfortable in the house. (The AC is routed through the gas furnace central vent system and apparently it is a safety feature that it will not turn on if the door is not fully shut.) The service technician they sent for this issue was very friendly and helpful. The technician sent for the electrical issue informed us of something that we never expected, as we had a home inspection: our built-in microwave was wired into the wiring for the kids' bedrooms (illegally) and therefore the issue was not covered because it fell under the clause of not up to code. I was not thrilled to hear this, but as we did not pay for the extra code coverage, they had good basis for denial of the claim. The technician this time informed me the warranty company was a waste of my money and to let them go. I weigh this advice against my experience with the AC issues and the fact that if I had not had their coverage, I would have paid at least twice as much to have an electrician let me know the same news. All but one time I have called to place a claim, the phone staff have been pleasant. The only time I had a problem was when I tried to place a claim online. They never received it. I would not recommend this type of claim placement as a result. The only other issue I have had is that this year (the second year we have lived here) the fee to have the same coverage when up by $150. They claim that the original $350 was a discounted rate for the realtor. I don't buy it. I think they raised the rates because we made a couple of claims. As a result, I am trying to shop around. However, thus far I am having a difficult time finding another company that will not deny a claim due to "lack of maintenance" and has no claim limits. Even with these limitations, the other companies are just as costly. Overall, I guess I would reccomend them. I just wish they didn't raise their fees so much. I may not renew as a result.

- Review: I didn't even get the chance to find out how well they handled claims here. I called them as a potential customer to ask about their coverage policies and the man I spoke with was belligerent, rude, and yelled at me when I informed him I was currently with a home warranty company that does not require "proper maintenance" to fix things. He raised his voice to inform me that no warranty company does that and I need to read the contract, like I was short sighted enough to not do so already. When I informed him that our current company had repaired our AC unit, which we had no record of maintenance on, he said "well all warranty companies are going to require that" and hung up on me. If this is how the people who are trying to woo me into paying their company for the privilege of being a client treat me, I hate to see how those already dangling from their sharp hooks are jerked around.
