  • Review: I have been a customer of AHS for 4 years. In October 2011 my microwave just stopped working and I placed a service call. The technician came and said he needed to order parts; the parts were replaced and for 3 days everything was fine until, once again, the microwave stopped working. I forgot to mention that the microwave is 4 years old. I called AHS again, and the technician was re-dispatch and new parts ordered. Well I am not in my 6th visit and 5th time that parts are ordered my microwave is still not working and they tell me they cannot do anything until the technician said it cannot be fixed and the technician said he needs to order new parts. I would never recommend AHS.

  • Company Name: Total Protect

  • Review: I've had Total Protect for just about 3 1/2 years. This would have been my third time using them. The first time was an electrical issue with a blown breaker. They were responsive and it was resolved quickly with just the deductible and the one visit. The second time was with my dryer. The claim dragged on for over a week if I recall correctly as the claims department debated internally with whether to repair or replace. They decided to repair and it has worked fine since then. Recently my AC went down. This has been a fiasco. In South Florida, it is hot - an AC unit is necessary, not optional. The first company they called was non-responsive in calling us back until we called the warranty company back for the third time. The second company they called - yikes! Told us our compressor was broken and our air handler worked fine. Truth was, our handler was broken and the compressor was fine. Total Protect offered us a $665 credit to replace the compressor but that we would have to pay $2k and change to replace the air handler as that wasn't their responsibility as it wasn't broken. We called another AC company who came out and showed us, not told us but showed us our compressor was not broken and our AC handler was. Called the warranty company, asked them to send someone else out, they told us they would (now on day 6)but the next day when we still did not receive a scheduling call I called back and was told we were misinformed, they would not be sending anyone else out. They also told me I had the option of having the first people come back out (who I specifically requested to not have come out as they were so clearly off-base, even to a lay person)or moving forward with the repair. We decided to call an AC guy not affiliated with Total Protect and had the unit repaired for 10% of what it would have cost us had we gone with Total Protect's option. We are cancelling today. Unfortunately, we have paid them for over 3 years at this point. Wish we would have caught on sooner. It's tough to realize what is going on as they are so nice on the phone. Really, the only red flag I had was with the supervisor I spoke with who told me I had been misinformed. It's a shame because it could be a great product if it worked the way it is supposed to.

  • Review: I wish I could are Globe Home Warranty lower than "Poor". These guys are the worst company I have ever dealt with. I had an A/C go down and needed to be replaced. Their contractor quoted over $3K, I had my own contractor replace the unit for just under $2K. GHW told me that if I paid the contractor I would be reimbursed within 30 days. It has been over 6 months and they keep lying to me...the latest is that the check was already sent...that was over 2 weeks ago. To make it better...they won't pay the total claim saying that the whole unit didn't need to be replaced, even though both contractors (one sent by them) said there was no other option. They can't even tell me what the amount of the check they "sent" was. This company is a scam!!! DO NOT PURCHASE!!!

  • Company Name: Sensible Home Warranty

  • Review: I researched the home warranty market for ratings and reviews before finally choosing to go with Sensible Home Warranty to cover a Florida home I planned to rent for a couple of years until the market hopefully allows me to sell it at a fair price. Their warranty fee was not the cheapest, but was competitive with many other warranty offerings. But I was influenced by web comments on personal experiences posted at a few review sites that were more often than not superior/favorable. A few months after I procured the warranty and a family rented my home, a water heater problem arose. After reviewing the circumstances to assure that the leak was not the result of negligence or abuse, the water heater was promptly replaced. Within a week, a similar problem with the pool pump resulted in inspection to confirm proper prior maintenance, followed by repair by local agents for Sensible Home Warranty. I had a chance to discuss general warranty issues with the head of customer service at Sensible HW, being concerned that such a short time into coverage, I was already far ahead on the cost/benefit curve, and Sensible was now far behind, since the first repair exceeded the cost of the premium. He did explain that while they, like any insurance agency, must make careful efforts not to be abused by fraud or being set-up to fix a bunch of unmaintained equipment (e.g., AC units, pumps, heaters, etc. that do require regular maintenance to avoid early failure), Sensible was also quite conscientious about the poor services and coverage avoidance engaged in by less honorable warranty firms, and was taking pains to maintain their superior performance and reputation with homeowners. While I acknowledge that some records of prior maintenance should be maintained on certain appliances to assure a prompt response, I, for one, have been impressed enough to provide these comments, and while I certainly hope my tenants do not encounter any other problems while renting my home, I am much more comfortable knowing that I have a Sensible Home Warranty to back me up!
