  • Review: I am thinking the service must be different based on where you live. Our service was excellent. The day I placed my order online, I had a phone call from the electrician within 5 minutes and scheduled an appointment. He even came to my house a day early and was here at 8 am on the dot. They replace my exhaust/heater in my bathroom within an hour and were done. I am very happy with the service.

  • Review: I purchased this warranty company based on their "best of Arizona award" come to find out the award they boost about is a scam! The commerce award is issued to any company that will pay the money for a plaque or a press release. Google the award they rave about and you will understand what I am talking about. I wish I thought about this as a business idea, what a joke! Their service, if they actually don't deny the claim is as much "BS" as the paid award they advertise! Stay away from American Home Guardian and any small business that claims they are a commerce association award winner! Trust me! The 3 time award winner, American Home Guardian and this award company are both worthless! I should have known when they were claming they were a 2011 award winner in February of 2011, how do you win an award for 2011 in the 2nd month of the year. Do not buy!!

  • Review: This company terrible. I had a home warranty with them. My hot water heater went out and because I could not prove to their satisfaction that I properly maintained my hot water heater it was not covered. When I asked them to clarify "properly maintain" they pointed me to vague language in the contract that also referenced "properly maintain". I feel that any company that cannot give you anything beyond a PO Box as a point of contact is probably not reputable. I would also suggest that you read the feedback on this business and then make your decision. My error was I did not do my research first.

  • Review: My air conditioner broke in August 2011 and I called the company and received approval to have it repaired by my own service company as it was very minor problem. I submitted the claim for reimbursement on August 29th. After waiting over 60 days for the check, I emailed the company. No response. I emailed again. No response. I called, spoke with someone who transferred me to someone who was supposed to be able to help. Got voicemail, left a message, no call back. Next time I called I was told a check was to be mailed November 26th. By the end of December, no check, started emailing and calling again. Got the same run around as above. After several more emails someone finally got back with me and said a check would be mailed January 13th. Today is February 4 and still no check. I emailed and called again four times this past week. No one has gotten back to me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The aggravation over the $200 reimbursement is not worth it.

  • Review: Just moved into our home and our first issue was the leak from the dishwasher and cold water faucet in shower. Old Republic rep put me through the grill asking when escrow closed and when we noticed it and said it would require 2 work orders (1 for dishwasher & 1 for shower) @ $60 each. I decided to cancel the dishwasher work order & bought a new one (saving $60). Plumber called & said he couldn't come out until Monday (5 days after request). Then we noticed hose bib (attached w/hose) could not shut off - had to turn the main line off as water was gushing from the faucet) - called Old Republic and again got the run-around and they said our policy wouldn't cover this (even though hose bib is attached to house! So I got a plumber from our realtor and he's coming out today (Saturday) - called Old Republic to cancel their plumber for Monday and while I was on "hold" had to listen to their recording about Old Republic's "excellent" customer service (had a good laugh while I was hold for 5 minutes). Save your money - Old Republic home warranty is worthless and will cover nothing!!

  • Review: We had this service as part of our contract to purchase our new home. The air conditioning unit went out within 6 months. AHS response time is horrific - their several day turnaround and the cheap repairman they sent and his unreliability cost us almost a month to the first visit. After two months of trying to get it fixed with their bargain repairman, we demanded a new one we knew who worked great. When we DID have to replace the unit, they tried three different excuses why they wouldn't cover it. Then they only allowed the cheapest, least efficient, off-brand model available (not even exaggerating), so we opted to upgrade. While the model only cost RETAIL about $300 more, we had to pay $1,200 extra and that's with a deal from the appliance salesperson that saves us around $1,000. We MIGHT have saved $1,000 off of buying it new from them ourselves, but, it's better than nothing. We're trying to get two more appliances fixed/replaced, but it's only been a month of calling on them, so no repairmen have showed yet. They also have a WHOLE SLEW of exceptions and reasons they won't cover. My recommendation: if you pay for it, don't waste your money - you'll save money in Excedrin, but if you are buying a house, have the seller buy it for that first year to protect yourself - if you have an option, however, I would definitely choose another company.

  • Review: The worst customer service I have ever received. Reported faulty dishwasher more than 6 weeks ago. Still not fixed and customer service refuse to give answers and frequently hang up when I ask for explanation for delay or when I can expect to have a working dishwasher. There is no maximum time limit for the company to fix the broken product and replace with new. We have had three contractors visiting. All changing different parts. Still they refuse to replace the dishwasher. I will cancel the insurance the moment the dishwasher is fixed, which unfortunately could be a long time. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

  • Review: The people on the 800 Support line are quite nice and do their job well; however they will not go to extremes to assist you if you have a problem that isn't 'standard'. AHS has the worst contractors and communication with said contractors. I reported a AC problem on a Sunday (which is a plus) however it's now been 12 days since I reported that problem and my AC is still broken while I sweat in my bed when I try to sleep at 94% humidity. My orders were cancelled without my authorization and their contractors try to run scams. AHS will not change contractors once they are assigned to you so no matter how horrible the service is AHS just doesn't care. Supervisors offer no assistance and no one cares to solve your problem or go out of their way to correct mistakes they made. DO NOT choose AHS - They won't care about you, they'll provide the "bare minimum required" (quoted by a supervisor) to get your problem fixed, and they've leave you with your issue without a care in the world.

  • Review: My issue is not as petty as most of the issues listed on this page. LIke some said they AHS could not make it on friday so i had to wait a weekend.. BOOHOO... I have been a happy client for 12 years. 4 years ago a AHS contracter broke my AC Coil and AHS had a brand new unit installed 4 days later. The failure was my dishwasher Inner Door Seal fell out and AHS sent Sears to fix it.. They fix it but damaged the door latch in the process. Sears comes out a second time to fix the door latch and then broke the hinges on the door when they fixed the door latch. 3rd time they came and did not bring the proper parts. So 2 months broken dishwasher and i demanded AHS to send someone new and sears was not allowed at my house again. AHS is refusing to send someone new. I said simply give me a new contracter, i will pay the service fee again and they still refuse. It seems that AHS now would rather keep a contracter happy even after 3 failed attempts than a customer of 12 years.

  • Review: These guys are scam artists of the highest order. They called out of the blue looking for a swimming pool contractor and we agreed to do the work. We were promised a credit card number shortly to pay for our work, but never got anything. The work was done 9/2/2011 and it's now 2/3/2012 and it's impossible to get a response from them. They owe us $434.03 and I've personally made probably 10 calls to them. They actually had the gall to come to us 5 weeks later looking for more work to be done and I told them I'd be happy to as soon as they paid the money owed and it went silent again. In talking to the homeowner she let us know we are not the only ones in this situation and her electrician had never been paid either. We're looking into what our legal recourse can be. Searching for that actually drove me to this site.

  • Review: Just so every one is aware this company also operates as Prime Home Plans or Home Prime Plans. I too like everyone here has been given the run around. My calls are not answered, the customer service state that it is not their end but instead the AC Company that won't take their money. When I called the AC Company to ask why they are having a problem with the hame warranty they stated they had never dealt with the company but that a payment can be made over the phone with no question. It is currently in the 30's and our house is freezing. We are trying to cancel but the site is now lost, the customer line will not answer and the verbage of "If you aren't satisfied with our product or our company within the next 30 days, simply just give us a call at 800-481-1834 or email us at info@PrimeHomePlans.com and we will happily issue a full refund! No hassles, no hard feelings and no questions asked." IS NOT TRUE. Do not deal with this company nor any other company that goes by Prime Home Plans, Home Prime Plans (they are all the same company!).

  • Review: Water heater leaking all over basement @ 6pm. Called my brother (H&AC exp). Got new unit from Home Depot which my husband & brother had installed by 8 pm. At that time, warranty was not even on my mind--just cleaning up the basment & getting a new unit in ASAP. I contacted 2-10 by phone on the 24/7 number, was given another number to call the next am. Called that number was transferred 2 more times. Then I got to speak with Annette, who told me no, because I hadn't notified them first. I told her that I had been a customer for 7 years with 1 claim, paying them appoximately $4000 during that time. I assured her that I only wanted reimbursement for the actual water heater. She told me she ws sorry, she knew how I felt, but no. Requested cancellation of service & refund of prepaid money. No, I had to submit that in writing. I'm done with 2-10, and I'm telling everyone I know. If there are no exceptions to their policies, I'm better off putting my money in savings account in the event I need work done. At that rate I would have been about $3500 ahead. Great customer service!?#@$

  • Review: When we bought our house in Feb 2011, the seller purchased the home warranty for us. I have had 5 call-outs - Microwave, Dishwasher, Electrical socket, HVAC, and Garage door. The two major issues were the microwave, where the control board had to be replaced, and the dishwasher, where the heating element malfunctioned and the entire dishwasher had to be replaced. All but one of the subcontracted technicians responded within 24 hours and all of them called ahead. Some were more prompt than others, but luckily I have a flexible schedule so that wasn't an issue with me. The sub-contractors that had to do the major repairs of the microwave and dishwasher (the same company, Appliance EMT) obviously didn't have the part in stock for the microwave and they don't purchase replacements, so I can't fault them in the least for that. But Appliance EMT ordered the part and installed it as promptly as possible. Alliance sub-contracted the new dishwasher through Sears Commercial whom worked with me to find a suitable replacement and also sub-contracted the removal of the old dishwasher - and disposed of it, and installed the new one. About the only negative thing I can say is it took approximately 2.5-3 weeks from calling Alliance to having a replacement dishwasher. But again, I understand that the process isn't instantaneous - and I did take my time reviewing the different options for a replacement dishwasher. Alliance has been a good company for me, and although I wish the contract prices and work order fees were cheaper, they have definitely saved me money. Now that my "free" year is almost up, I am mulling the idea of purchasing another year and potentially upgrading the service of the contract...

  • Review: AHS is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Their system is horribly flawed and they have every itention to simply deny any claim you may have that is more than your contract amount. I moved into a house and had purchased coverage for a septic sewage ejector pump. Mine failed. I called them for service, and they sent someone out. The plumber catagorized it as a "sewage ejector pump" which AHS says is not covered. I proceeded to spend over 2 hours on the phone discussing this with them, and they refused to contact the plumber to reverify that it is in fact a SEPTIC sewage ejector pump, and thus would be covered. They also refused to contact sales to confirm the coverage I had, stating that their denial stands. On top of it, out of the 5 people I contacted, 4 were incredibly rude and talked "down" to you. Only one was helpful, but she was not empowered to actually DO anything about this. In the end I had to pay hundreds out of pocket for a claim that was valid, because AHS refuses to listen to me. Trust me, stay away, you are better off just hiring your own contractor if anything should happen. In the end its less money and far less hassle.

  • Review: Horrifying. This was once a reliable and dependable company. They now have second or third rate technicians who game the system to keep service calls coming in from them resulting in repairs are delayed, without full disclosure and they do not offer any follow up to make sure your problems have been or are properly handled, or in a timely fashion. I had to fight with them for over 7 weeks to get a water heater replaced - 10 years earlier it was handled by them properly and efficiently. Look elsewhere - they have degenerated into a delinquent service.
