Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |

My garbage disposal went out and it got done in a couple of days. I actually got a new one and it works great
I scheduled an appointment very quick and easy. However, the repair man said that they got a call from CHW canceling out the order, so i never got a call. I ended up calling the repair service and had to call CHW again to send over my information. Repair service was very good. However, the approval for my repair took 24 hours, where as my last Home Warranty company HWA approved right over the phone that same day. My repair was only an $80 garbage disposal. I can handle the miscommuincation about the repair order, but having 24 hours to grant the approval is unacceptable (i am told that 24 hours is the guideline). Grant
The response time was really quick. A technician was contacted immediately to resolve the problem.
I am a very successful realtor in NJ. Until last year I was an avid promoter and personal user of American Home Shield. With the decline in the economy I looked for an alternative to AHS as they were running at over $500/year to service my home and my clients. I found choice home warranty. Thought it was good that they were based in NJ, price was great and they covered more. What a mistake
In fact had a hard time getting anyone at Choice to respond to my calls, did email Troy McDermott the sales guy I gave all the business too and he did not care. I will not go into the gory details it’s too odd that everyone I referred all had the same experience, many of the service providers claimed that choice had not paid their bills and had negative comments on choice. They refused to fix a plumbing problem due to galvanized pipes, often made appoinments and the providers do not show-when I called them they were nasty. Who needs this. AHS is the benchmark for customer service, CHS is the benchmark for failure
I had First American Home Protection insurance on and off for 12 years. I cancelled this insurance multiple times because they would not repair some of the items that were supposed to be covered and the technicians that came to my house were not up to par. All of the CHW people were very courteous and knowledgeable. I would recommend CHW anytime. The technician from Ocean Pool and Spa was extremely good. James Corum.
Our A/C systems didn\’t work and I contacted CHW online. Within 24 hours, a professional technician arrived and fixed the problem. We were very please with the sevice.
After purchasing my home last year, and after searching for a reputable company to purchase a warranty policy, I settled with Choice Home Warranty. According to the home inspection, all appliances were in good condition, some of which were and still are under the manufacturer’s warranty. Shortly thereafter, I began to have problems with my hot water heater and called CHW to report the problem. I found them to be quick to respond and I found the problem to be handled in a very professional manner. Since then, with summer temperatures up in the high 90\’s my air-conditioner quit working and once again I called upon CHW to report the problem. When I did, they were extremely empathic and very quick to take care of the problem. Based on my personal experience with CHW, they have always been excellent, professional and very quick to respond. Personally,I would not dream of doing business with any one else.
I opened a new claim Fri. 07/16/10. Nobody got back to me until Mon. 07/19/10 which is completely un acceptable. My refrigerator will ok but the service technitian spoke really broken English and is very hard to understand. He told me he would be at my house Tues 07/20 between 7:30 and 8pm but never showed so finally I had to call him the next day and he finally showed up and said that he would have to order the part pending approval of the warranty company and would let me know when he will be there to install it. Haven\’t heard anything yet. I am really unhappy with the way these home warranties work as far as the wait time for repairs.
Three cheers to choice & the contractor,ac dude (gilbert) that they assigned call to for service. This was our first time to use CHW & I was very pleased with how everything was handled. Kudos & keep up the great service!
My contracor was extremely prompt in calling me and was able to repair my A/C on a SUnday. This went above and beyond my expectations.
I e-mailed emergency@choicehomewarranty.com almost a week ago and have yet to receive a response. I explained that my refrigerator repair was pertinent, being that I have 2 very small children in the home… but the company has done nothing to help in expediting the repair. Furthermore, upon requesting additional assistance, Jonathan (who claims to be a manager) refuses to allow me to speak with higher management. He has provided me with terrible service from unfulfilled statements, to sarcasm, to unprofessionalism, to being just plain rude… and beyond. I\’ll be more than happy to provide more documented details.
I switched to Choice after reading reviews which are all inaccurate about this company. I previously had first american and they fixed my AC unit when it was out 2 times. My AC unit recently broke and I called Choice for nothing. They would not fix the unit. They send someone out which said the unit was rusted. OF COURSE the unit is rusted it is 30 years old. The contractor also stated that the compressor may be out……I am confident this is the reason they are not repairing the unit. It worked perfectly fine last year and a week ago. They asked me to provide records of maintenance. I provided the last service of 9 months ago reporting that the filters had been clean, unit freon was fine, and they replaced the thermometer. This was not considered routine servicing for them so they denied the claim. WHY PAY THIS TYPE OF INSURANCE? I should

I called about my oven not working. The customer service representative was curtoeus and pleasant to speak too. They gave the number for a technician in my area. Even before I could call them I received a call from them stating Choice Home Warranty informed them of my problem. The tech came over fixed the problem and was off. A very good experience plus a great money saving tool. I am going to recommend Choice Home Warranty to family and friends.
We had repairs on the electrical system and dishwasher with nothing less than 100% satisfaction. the contractors were not only very capable but quite curteous. A truly pleasant experiance considering the dealings with my prior Home Warranty company!
The mechanic from Cool Blew called before he arrived and told me when to expect him. He was right on time. He was very pleasant and knew what the problem was after looking at the unit. It had a bad motor. He had one in his van and installed the new fan and the A/C unit was up and running with-in a half hour. I can not ask for better service and the prompt repair. I will certainly recommend CHOICE HOME WARRANTY
Choice home warrantly have proved to be very competitive. I switched from a different company and have had no regrets so far. They are prompt in answering and reacting to claims.

Excellent pricing and coverage is more extensive than most home warranty companies. Polite customer service reps and very good follow-up by Choice when a service request is made. Companies used are excellent- better than my previous home warranty company. Took a while to get reimbursed for a garagae door opener but received in the end. Only annoying issue I have had is in the renewal process- too many phone calls and emails about renewing early. One person called three times and was quite rude when I said I was not ready to renew; all others have been polite. I do plan to renew but not 2 months early. Have recommended company to a realtor. Positives definitely outweigh the few negatives.

This started back in 11/09. Purchased Warranty from CHW and needed them within 45 days for heating system. The contract has fine print that excuses them from numerous responsibilities. I tried to appeal their decision not to repair and had two servicemen to tell them that my unit was not “neglected”. Uses the pre-existing condition and lack of maintenance clause as an “out”. Refused to honor my claim. I filed with BBB, Consumer Protection. If you have been ripped off, please follow suit. Buyer beware!! Avoid this company at all costs.
Considering the addition of a small amount of refrigerant during a routine maintenance check a month before the failure of an AC compressor as a pre-existing condition is absurd and unethical.
I had American Home Shield and was satisfied with their service. Due to a rate increase, I went on the internet to find my options and found this worthless company. I never really had a problem with AHS. They replaced the hot water heater in my home and fixed the dishwasher and clothes dryer in my guest house. I had NO complaints. All I was trying to do was find a company with a lower monthly premium and I now find myself with NO coverage. Anyway, I called Choice Home and talked to a customer service person named Kevin Micheals. He convinced me to go with Choice Home, telling me what a great company they are and told me that my coverage would be effective immediately. He then told me to cancel my policy with AHS but make sure that I ask for an email from AHS that documented the fact that I had canceled. I did just that but was told by AHS that they would not email or fax me a confirmation of cancellation; I would have to wait and get it through snail-mail. When I called back to Choice Home and told them that, I was informed that because I canceled my policy due to AHS denying a claim that I made, my coverage wouldn’t be effective for 30 days. What in the heck are they talking about!!! I didn’t cancel because of a denied claim, there was NO denied claim, I canceled because Kevin Micheals, their customer service rep told me I had to. If I had known what their game was, I would have left my AHS policy in effect and canceled after 30 days but I was instructed to cancel immediately!! Most likely had I known what was going to happen, I wouldn’t have canceled AHS at all. I guess it goes back to the old saying “You get what you pay for!!!!” I am totally ticked off and haven’t decided what to do now based on the reviews I have read about ALL of these companies.
Choice home warranty has been great to work with. I have several accounts and each claim has been handled very well. I would (and do) recommend choice home warranty to clients and friends.
I had a customer call with a no AC call, they needed a TXV installed not covered by the warranty. I installed the TXV and the customer paid the invoice. The next day the customer called and the unit stopped working again. They call CHW and the covered part would not be covered if the customer didn’t proved the past 10 years of service records. This is a warranty provided to a customer that just purchased a house. How does a customer that just purchased a house provide 10 years of service records. Stay away from this company, they want your money with no service in return.
