Purchased a foreclosed home 12/16/11 with a Home Protect warranty provided by Freddie Mac. Moved in & 3 days later, heating system failed. Filed claim with Home Steps, they sent out a tech who charged me $100 service fee. Home Protect denied my claim & will not pay for the heat to be repaired. This is a total scam. They are collecting $1000 per warranty from Freddie Mac & another $100 for their service tech to come out & inspect the problems. Writing Consumer Affairs in every state plus Attorney General. Will also send letters to Fox News & other news stations to see if anyone will follow up and investigate this scam.

This warranty is a crock of you know what!!!!! Why would I pay $100 for someone to diagnose the problem and not actually repair it??? No other warranty or insurance company works like this. This is a slap in the face to people who just want to own a home and not feel as though they are being ripped off!!! I will be filing a complaint with consumer affairs on Freddie Mac for thinking this plan is great when it’s not!!!! Put the money you would pay for this plan and take that off the purchase price of the home if you want to help people instead of ripping consumers off!!!!!

Thanks for the reviews. I’ll save my $100 dedu. and Fix my own Appliances. Discounts on new GE appliances thru HomeProtect aren’t nothing to right home about either.

These home warranties are total garbage. We just recently purchased a foreclosed home and because of the advertising material in the home about the home warranty and what it covered, we figured there would be no problem having someone fix any problems that arose. Well, as soon as we moved in we found out that our hot water heater was not working. Since it was a part that rusted out and not a mechanical failure its not covered under the warranty, and would be subject to a prexisting, blah blah blah, since it was discovered 6 days after our closing.

We purchased this home with the comfort of knowing that if we had any problems we would have help. Well, that help collect $100 and told us that the services we need are not covered under this warranty.

As I read the reviews, the opinions of the customers are all similar. I recently needed service from AHS it was extremely hot and my AC unit was not working. I was told that it would take 3 days before a technican could come out. I paid the technican $60 deductible to come out and tell me that my unit would not be covered. Also, stated that the unit was installed incorrectly and a safety hazard! American Home Shield is a HAZARD! Before, I purchased the warranty I had many questions about their services. She was very kind and patient when providing the info that I had requested. How can a company offer services to clients without inspecting their product? Then, when services are requested the consumers are not treated fairly. I was told by the resolution team that letter K or another item in the agreement that I had violated. Don’t purchase anything from this company. My mortgage company provided a flyer about their services. So, I assumed that the company provided great service. AHS= HAZARD

I have paid 100.00 ded for service on a 20 year old dishwasher.1of my original complaints hyas still not been resolved.I am being told that I must pay anotherm ded for them to check it again.This is garbage, by the time I get some straight answers I will havepaid enough deductibles to buy a new dishwasher.SHAMEON FREDDIE MACE DOING BUSINESS WITH A BAD WARRANTY CO.

I would not recommend using HomeProtect for any reason. If your new house comes with this warranty, don’t even bother.

HomeProtect is the warranty that came with the purchase of my new FreddieMac property.

My oven stopped working almost a month ago. Three technicians have looked at my oven so far and have not been able to fix it. Now I’m supposed to wait 10 more days for a part that the last repairman told me is no longer available. I have asked for a supervisor to call me back twice and no call. There is no address for this company on their website, or their parent company’s website. It’s been 3 weeks since I’ve had a stove, and now I’m out $100 (for the first repairman copay) plus whatever it’s going to take to replace the stove, because obviously I can’t get my money back from HomeProtect. I won’t use them again.

550 a year premium, 100. co-pay and a total ripoff. My advice is to get a policy from any company but Home Protect. 4 days to send a repairman to fix a gas leak in a stove, and they lied and told me that the part needed was no longer available. They told me to replace the cook top and there was a 500. cap. It would have cost 2,000 to replace the unit, plus the cost of new granite counter tops and cabinet work. I contacted the manufacturer who assured me the part was available. I am having a manufacturer repairman service and repair the cooktop, which Home Protect said voids my warranty. Big whoop. Contacting my district attorney and reporting fraud.
