| Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights
2-10 Home Warranty also administers other warranty programs including HomeTrust home warranty and Freedom home warranty.

I had so many things happen to my residence in one year, it did not make any sense. 2-10 Warranty continued to send contractors out to my house to see why a leak was going on in my master bath and why my air conditioner quick functioning. I admit, I was very upset at the amount of times a different contractor came out to my house to try and fix the issues. But, each time I contacted 2-10 reference the same issues, the Customer Service Rep was always professional and kind, even though I was very upset on the line. Finally, the problems were fixed and I actually called the company back to thank them for their patience. After about a year, I called the A-210 back to find out why no one had contacted me reference renewing my warranty and the Customer Service Rep said I had been dropped from the company. I called back periodically and even today and the Rep again was very professional, but said I had to contact another office to try to get back to using their warranty. Again, I could not help that that particular year, everything seemed to break down. They are honestly a great company.
I entered a claim online for my air conditioning and waited two days to hear back from the warranty companies contractor. I called the contractor directly to find out when I could expect their service. They notified me that they no longer were a contractor for 2-10. I had to call 2-10 back and then they had no idea the contractor was no longer working for them. They contacted another contractor and 7 days after I made my original claim I had a repair person out. They supposedly fixed the problem and the next day my air was out again. After calling and letting them know that I had the same problem they said that it would be at least another week for someone to come back and fix the problem. I told them this was not acceptable. They promised someone out the next day or two. The next morning I received a call from the contractor and they said they never told 2-10 they would be out the next day or two. They had to put me on a list for repair the next week. 2-10 also stated that if they found another problem I would be charged another $50.00. I am disgusted with this program. I think this company needs serious management and policy changes. If I am the customer paying for a service. I should get 100% complete satisfaction. If not, the problem should be fixed immediately by a contractor of my choosing.
Inconsistent reports received on when service will be completed. Called on Monday (5/24) and advised part was on order, now on Thursday advised part was just ordered yesterday (5/26) units stopped working on 5/20. Company issued a service out on Friday (5/21) to problem (after several calls regarding Father in house). First person put me after advising that if I would pay for overtime she would have someone come out to the house, requested to speak to her supervisor as I advised that on Friday it should not be over time. I was then put on hold forever so I called back and spoke with another person who was able to arrange for a service person for the same day. Air conditioner is now broken for a week and being advised by different people on when the part was ordered. Now advised due to holiday part will not be received for 7 more days (called for service on 5/20 and now part not available until 6/2). On all calls continued to state that 88 year old Father is in the house. Advised not an emergency and since it isn’t 95 degrees outside they will not escalate the urgency. This is the South and it will be 90 degrees today and everyone knows that with the humidity is will be over 95 degrees. Advised they have a thousand calls every day so it should be expected to take 2 weeks or more for any repairs.
We are hard working citizens an maybe a class action lawsuit will be the only way to get these so-called people to stand behind this so called waranty. They have collected possibly millions and now it time they pay up and stand behind their work and the warantees they push for consumers like you and I to buy.
More info on the slab. The engineer used the slab that is designed for the soil content on my lot. The 2-10 company said that they require a specific type of a slab to be covered. The engineer is listed with 2-10 but he explained that the slab design they wanted was incorrect and would not hold up. So he designed the slab the way it should have been. This cost me an additional $695 to have the correct slab. I guess I would have to say this is better than having a problem down the road and fighting the warranty company for a settlement. It still does not make sense to mewhy they wanted the wrong design, just because they require it.
My air conditioning has not been fixed for more than a month. According to the repair company, they are still waiting for the parts for the warranty company. Response is bad and no customer service from this company at all. The temperature is almost 100 degree
This warranty was offered to me after buying a home from a bank that would not replace the AC unit or do any further repairs on the home. The unit started sparking several months later, almost catching fire. After an incompetent service tech visited my home and told me he was unable to tell me if anything was wrong with the unit because I was not a cash-paying customer and had a warranty, I called 2-10 to complain. The so-called customer service SUPERVISOR advised me, being pregnant with 2 babies in the house, to “just not use the AC and deal with it.” The heating and cooling company that was sent out basically told me there was nothing they could do because I had a warranty as long as the unit still turned on. Even if it was catching on fire, it still turns on so there was nothing they could do about it. If I requested for them to come back out or if I requested for a different company to come back out, I would have to pay another $50 for each visit. And to top it off, everyone I spoke to in customer service was rude from the get-go, before I even explained myself or my problem. This is a horrible company to deal with and I am just baffled as to how they are in business.
Before purchasing my home I was told by the inspection company that with the age of my 3 A/C units it would be a good idea to have a home warranty put in place. Sure enough 3 weeks into moving in the 1st A/C unit goes out. I called in the claim and was told the repair company would be in contact with me shortly and they got in touch with me the following day. The repair company was friendly and helpful in making sure that I understood the problems of the device. When he was done he said we were going to need to replace the current unit. I asked him if it would be covered under the warranty and he said it should be. 2 days later I receive a call from the home warranty company stating claim denied due to pre-existing conditions.
Pre-existing conditions was the only reason I bought the home warranty to begin with. After discussing in great detail with a representative of the company, it was determined that any problem that they could prove started happening pre me owning the house would fall into the not covered category.
Stay away from this company! They are more often then not going to find a reason you will not be covered.
Last year (June) AC unit went out, contacted 2-10 and they sent repairman out but instead of fixing the problem (leaking unit) he put filler on the line, refilled it and left. Needless to say it is leaking again and the other (new) warranty company will not work on it because it is a pre-existing problem. But, the unit is without A/C in Carrollton, VA because they did not assure that a proper repair was done. I contacted the repair company to have them fix their own mess, will see what happens.
Bad company to deal with. No worth the money
I bought a new home in the DFW Area I have 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty as my warranty company and I very happy with their services.
Wonderful customer service, could not be happier!
I have gone through and read all of these reviews, I am in complete shock that everyone thinks so negatively about a warranty company that I think is wonderful. I had a structural failure on a home a year ago and not only did 2-10 HBW send someone out right away, they fixed the house back to new and never once asked for anything from me. They were a very professional company and I can see why they have been around for 30 years.
Too bad the people that are extremely happy with their service do not write reviews, only the very few upset whiners do.

This home warranty company is a complete joke. The only way you will have a good experience with them is if nothing goes wrong in your house. If you have a problem, you are going to be extremely frustrated with them.
We had a toilet leak. When the plumber came, he grimaced when I told him we had a contract with 2-10. He said that his company did a lot of work for different warranty companies, and that 2-10 is the only one that denies almost all claims. Sure enough, after he fixed it, they denied the claim. When I got on the phone with the rep, he made up some unbelievably ridiculous excuse about why the repair wasn’t covered.
This is not a legitimate company. Avoid it. The only satisfaction I will have with this worthless product is when they call me to get me to renew and I laugh at them.
I have been mostly satisfied with their service
Warranty came with the home when I purchased it.I had trouble with washing machine, over 7 service calls to fix machine. They offered an 80.00 buyouy for the appliance for replacement.Anyone know where I can purchase an 80 dollar washing machine.Funny thing with this company is the regular employees are pleasant and understanding to talk to ,but when you reach the so called supervisors, smug ,nasty, and unapolegetic.I would think long and hard before choosing 2-10 warranty.
If something breaks and needs to be replaced they will price bargain at your expense, my central AC needed repair and they went from company to company sending out diferent ones to try and get a cheaper one. Its been 4 months and system is still not fixed & they are sending another company to “diagnose”, when asked regarding it the customer service rep stated the last company said they could not provide the parts so we are sending another one, I contacted the ac company on my cell phone at the same time and they stated 210 warranty wanted to provide the parts and them to do the labor which is not the ac companies policy, when I asked to speek to a manager from 210 and asked for the phone reps name I realized later she gave me a Phony name…..thats not I warranty compnay I wanna deal with nor should anyone.
Worst company to deal with. They told me a garbage disposal is not designed to grind up food so any clog because of food is my fault for negligence. Food not allowed in a garbage disposal? Their customer service almost drove my wife to tears.
2-10 Came with my home purchase last September. Shortly after, we had a problem with our hot water heater. The element was burned out. It was replaced, but it took over a week before a technician could come out. A week with NO hot water! We had a leak in our roof in November, called to report, and still have not had an appointment with a contractor. I called back in and they changed me from Cook Construction to Just Repair Roofing. But nothing has been done. Finally, I called my homeowner’s ins, and the roof was replaced last week. Now, I’m having AC problems, we’ll see how that works out. So far they’re 1/2.
The 2-10 home warranty company has taken four weeks to date to repair our dishwasher.
Customer service and claims department will tell you a failure is covered and then when the repair service shows up at your door, the contractor tells you that it is not covered.
What 2-10 will not tell you is that they are not required to have service contracts with vendors who will make appointments when homeowners get home from work after 5 PM. Unless you want to take off work to be home to meet with a contractor who may tell you that your repair is not covered and that they have to get the parts through 2-10 instead of from a local supply house, this may not be the plan for you.
The panel on the front of my refrig that controls the temps in the freezer & refrig and the ice maker and light stopped working. 2-10 sent out a repairman who said the problem was the control board in the front panel as well as the mother board in the back of the refrig. I asked him if this was a short because it was working intermittenly. He said this was a process of elimination to find the problem. He ordered the boards, which was approved by 2-10. He came back a week later and repaced the boards. After replacing the boards only some of the components worked. I told him I would give it some time to see how it worked and he left my house for his next appointment. Within one day all the same problems had returned, and by the third day nothing worked again. I called for the tech to return. Upon his return to diagnois the problem he said now I had a short in the wiring harness and he would have to order the part. Later that day 2-10 called and said they would not cover the parts because this was a new problem. I asked them how this could be a new problem when the original service call never fixed the problem. After being on hold for approximately 15 mins I was told the person who made the decision would be contacting me on Monday. I informed 2-10 that I pay $528.00 dollars a year for coverage and that if this problem is not taken care of I would not be renewing my service contract. Do your self a favor and find another company for your warranty service. Dealing with 2-10 is like pulling teeth, and the service people don’t know any more than you do.
Bought property Dec. 24, 2009. Remodeled entire property except Hot Water Heater, AC and Furnace. They all worked fine when purchased property. Ten days ago notice water under hot water heater, slow leak. Called and filed a claim with 210 and they gave me name and number of plumber and said they would call within 4 hours. Plumber David Ryan from Plumbing Service Plus called promptly in approx. 3 hours. Set time for Wednesday, April 21 at 8:30am. He looked at water heater and said it was leaking from shutoff valve at top. Called in to 210 in his vehicle and after few minutes came back and gave me the phone. The 210 person told the repairs would not be covered because it was a pre-existing issue. The water heater was not leaking before and throughout the remodel. The plumbing in the kitchen and bathroom were replaced during the remodel. We (the plumber and I) used the shutoff valves several times and there were no leaks. The gentleman on the end of the line from 210 did not waver, the repair was not going to be repaired under the warranty. Out of courteously I paid the deductable to the plumber. My wife talked with a lady Shanna from 210 and she reiterated that the repair would not be paid for. Why would I use a company that will, without further investigation, call me a liar? Had another plumber look at and said to replace water heater due to rust out at bottom. Shut off valve was not the problem. These warranties are purchased to protect homeowners not to steal from them.
they hae come out at least twice that I recall and fixed stuff for me,. they provided a temporary fix and then came back and fixed the frig. I rented a temp for a day. I aam good with them they just cost a lot. but they work well for me so I am happy.
I have spoken to many people who have used this company and and have had one complaint. I think that the problem here is one of two things. The first is that we have a problem with the providers employees which is a universal problem but does need to be fixed. I think the bigger problem here though is that when you are happy you don’t come to these sites to praise companies you come when you are unhappy.
If I find any more complaints I will be back here to voice that.
I not sure where they find these companies to do the repairs. Remember, you get what you pay for. I have had plumbing, electrical and A/C repair companies out who didn’t have a clue as to what they were doing. I had an A/C company come out and the repair person didn’t even know how to take the cover off the inside unit. They use second rate loser companies. Once my contract is over, I’ll renew with some else
