| Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights
2-10 Home Warranty also administers other warranty programs including HomeTrust home warranty and Freedom home warranty.

This company cares nothing about it’s customers
Noticed a leak in kitchen ceiling. The contractor they sent was very nice, however, when he attempted to do the repair, found it was something else. He found this out by drilling a hole in the kitchen ceiling. Drilled a new hole in the bathroom wall to make the correct repair. At the advise of the contractor, we called 2-10 and advised them of the 2 holes. They were going to charge another service call for someone to come out and repair one hole. 2-10 was then advised, we would fix ourselves so they sent $75 to fix ONE hole not both. I called back to advise there was 2 holes caused by the contractor but they would only supply funds to fix the hole that fixed the plumbing problem. Now our policy is up for renewal and they want to charge almost $200 more for a change in my contract I don’t need or want and the CSR was rude and advised me it was NOT negotiable. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone nor will I renew my contract being they apparently can change your contract at will without notification.
3 years with 2-10. no ac in north carolina in july – going on 6 weeks now. 2-10 could care less. this company is a joke with horrible customer service. stay away from 2-10!!!
I have had this company for 3 years since I moved in. They have fixed every problem I have had and Have been Nice about it. I even have contractors that I request who work for them because I can trust them. Had a few problems with contractors not calling or showing up but 2-10 always got someone else in a short time. Word of advice, get the supreme protection,NOT the basic and you will have a much better time getting OKs for work to be done. They are not cheap, but I am happy and I will renew.
I am on my second year with 2-10 Home Warranty and I still have not had my A/C repaired correctly ( Contractor has stated it needs a TXV valve but cannot seem to get approval to replace it from 2-10) I bet that is a hard decision to make.My air handler freezes up each and every month during the summer months and every time I call it in for repairs I get the same temporary fix with no permenant result. The customer service folks at this company really don’t seem to care if it is 98 degrees outside or that your utility room floods out every time the airhandler freezes up.Also when I purchased the home I had problems with my refridgerator leaking and I finally gave up on that and repaired it myself out of my pocket( The contractor showed up with a cloth hanger and a blow dryer to make the repair. The bottom line is this is a very poorly managed company that looks for the easy fix and not the correct repair (they seem to not want to spend money on the repair but they sure like to collect ours.
I had an A/C leak on the outside unit (The Valves in which I guess the Freon/Puron actually get into the house, within a day all of the Freon/Puron would leak out) It took five trips from four different technicians to actually make the repair. We were without A/C for a good Month and a half(Dog was Miserable). First three Technicians didn’t even do the proper testing, they added Frion and waited for the A/C to kick in inside and they left. The second or third trip I made sure to ask the techs exactly what they were going to do to make sure that all of their ducks were in a row and they had no idea that their visit consisted of more than just adding Freon. It took one of the youngest Contractors in the company (Parrish Services) to actually take the time and do the proper testing on the last visit to actually repair the leak with some kind of Gooey substance called Nylock. Anyway, After the first couple of visits I called 2-10 to complain about the work that the contractors were doing and nobody ever got back to me. I will not be renewing my contract with 2-10.
WARNING WARNING if you have a policy with this company it is not worth the paper its written on.You have wasted your money. I have had a warranty with this company for over 8 years and when I need to use it it is like pulling teeth. My AC unit stopped working on Saturday 7/17/2010 it is now 7/20/2010 and I have still not had a call from any contractor. I have called 2-10 numerous times and get the same BS I have been told the work order has been sent out.I have called the contractor(s) that they said they have sent these too and none have received the work order. One of the companys is ready to go and fix the problem but can’t until this fax is received. The customer service rep’s are nothing but big bags of wind I will cancel this warranty and will do everything I can to let as many people know that this company is a scam No customer service, as a matter of fact NO SERVICE WHAT SO EVER If your thinking about a home warranty with this company DO NOT DO IT IT”S NOT WORTH THE HASSLE
My husband and I had a full warranty including pool with this company and all systems were in working order when we closed on the house in August of 09. In May of 2010 we had begun using our AC and it was running the whole time and reading about 5-10 degrees hotter than our thermostat. We called to report a claim and now, still 2 months later we’ve had 4 different contractors at our house every one of which has stated we needed a new AC system however, Home Trust 2-10 just keeps sending a new contractor out because they don’t want to pay to replace it. We have started a complaint with the Virginia Bureau of Insurance and are looking into taking action in the justice system because their customer service and system service is completely unaccaptable and a scam!!! DO NOT GET A WARRANTY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Poor customer service and follow through. My garage opener went out. Contacted 2-10 warranty and they recommended Colonial Peferred Services. I contacted the contractor and they came to my hone on 6/29/10, and said the opener needed to be replaced. They were suppose to order the part and return the following week to install it. Well it is now 7/14/10, and the work has not been completed. I have contacted both 2-10 and the contractor and have gotten no results from either. I plan to call again today 7/14/10. I have used 2-10 warranty for approximately 9 years and have problems with them in the past, will not recommend them to anyone.
I am a new home owner so I have never dealt with this specific kind of company before. I do know good customer service when I see it and this is certainly not provided by this company. I have been waiting 3 weeks for this company to even send someone to check out my issue and they just keep calling to say that person can’t come for whatever reason, they are sending someone else and no one ever shows. My favorite is when the customer service agent handling my call says “is there anything else I can help you with today?” Wouldn’t that require helping me with something in the first place? I’m so tired of this. I’m about to ask for my money back so I can handle it myself. They have done absolutely nothing for me. I already had to purchase a new refrigerator and dishwasher myself. Don’t use this company, you will want to bang your head against the wall!
2-10 Home Warranty company has poor customer service and poor follow through. They provided strong support the first year, but after that all down hill. Trouble getting a vendor to come out and when they do, 2-10 haggles with fixing problems and instead would rather temporarily fix something and allow it to reoccur. Horrible customer service…the usual answer “i don’t know!”
this company really terrible, poor customer service, no timeliness what so ever, I’ve been waiting a month to get my ac fixed all they do is bounce you around if you don’t call them they don’t call you back, and the companies they work with are just as bad, how on earth are they still in business
Paid for membership for 9 years. Decline the AC claims and fix the system. Call service support never return calls.
Buyer beware. 2-10 home warranty company is your worst nightmare come true. Customer service is nonexistent. When you have a problem you’ll have to wait 4-5 days in best case until they sent someone. Can you imagine how it is if your AC is broken and it’s 100 degrees outside and you have a baby at home. They charge for every call $65. When you have multiple problems they will charge for every single issue $65. Also the technician they sent vandalized our AC unit and it’s not working now. They refuse to fix it. Bad business practices and no ethics what so ever.
90 degrees outside and my AC started giving up on me, It is Saturday. I called my warranty company and they got me a contractor and asked me to give a call if the company not returned within 4 hrs. After 4 hours I gave a call and got a reply that the contractor cannot give any appointment till next thursday. I called back to company again and they createed a new Work order with new contractor. Same, no reply from this company. I have spoken to at least 6 different people including a manager and they asked me search for out of network contractor. They couldn’t care less. Based on the information i may get service after 96 hours if every thing goes well. Nothing else i can do other then waiting.
I have had 2-10 HBW for the past 13 years. They would not renew my policy this year. No letter, no phone call. When I attempted make a claim on my A/C the agent told me my policy was not being renewed. They had no explanation and gave me an email address to contact the renewal manager. The explanation given for not renewing: “There were many business factors considered when deciding not to renew your policy”. I have since emailed them back requesting a real answer as to why I was not renewed. I have received nothing from this company.
After buying our house everything seemed fine for quite a while. Then starting in April our AC Unit stopped working. The warranty company sent out a contractor at our expense of $90. The contractor ruled that the unit was broken. Two weeks later the waranty company sent us a new unit for the installation fee of $600. Two weeks later this unit was broken as well as the other parts of the unit that were not previously replaced. Apparently, the waranty company had sent us the wrong unit. So now, two weeks later we receive a whole new system at a cost of $1,00 dollars. Now, almost three weeks after our whole new system has been installed our AC Unit is broken. When speaking to an agent this morning and having him look at our previous history, he did not really seem to care that this was going to be our thrid unit. There was no “I’m sorry this has happened again” or “I will do everything I can to make sure we take care of this”. He just simply said “I’ll send a contractor when they open”. In my opinion this is a very poor company with very poor service.
I purchased additional coverage from 2-10 in the form of their upgraded R410A coverage. This coverage was sold to us almost as a sort of “gap” plan which would replace our system with the new Puron system in the event of a failure. Our A/C malfunctioned and 2-10 sent a dishonest and sloppy contractor from 50 miles away. They will not honor their own R410 plan and are trying to replace my unit with a cheap freon unit. They have told me that I must accept the labor from the contractor whom I have been able to show lied to both me and 2-10. An independent A/C service provider that I paid stated that the coolant leak is more likely to be in the attic unit rather than the outside condenser unit. 2-10 will not provide me with anything in writing that explains the limitations of the additional R410A coverage I purchased and actually told me that there are no such documents available. Moreover, they actually told me that the information they have given me via telephone about the limitations of my additional coverage is all I need to know. This is not an exaggeration.
my central a/c unit was making a terrible screeching noise. I mean LOUD. I called in the problem to 2-10 . The local heating/cooling company came out and diagnosed the problem “motor casing needs to be replaced.” 2-10 refused to authorize the service to fix the problem because “nothing was broken.” The a/c unit is scheeching so loudly we have to turn it off because the neighbors complain and we can’t sleep! I’ve been on the phone between the contractor and 2-10 four times now, spoken to several people, yet 2-10 refuses to authorize the work “unless it’s broken.” Since when is loud screeching “not broken?” Horrible customer experience. Needless to say, I won’t renew with them.
I had my A/C go out several years ago. 2-10 replaced it with a new but, cheap one. Now the “new” one has broken down and a repairman was sent to fix it. They replaced the blower motor and a circuit board that was fried. The thing still does not work. I called 2-10 back and told them that the thermostat doesn’t respond and that the unit shuts off when put on “cool”. They told me the claim was denied because of improper wiring and some mumbo jumbo about the thermostat. The unit had not been touched until it went out and the service repairman came out to look at it. The wiring and thermostat were the exact ones that were attached and working prior to the failure. A new thermostat was installed and the unit still did not work. I still do not have the unit fixed and I intend to explore the possibility of legal action. This company needs to be reported to the proper licensing or review board.
My upstairs AC went out on May 17th. It is now June 14th and nobody has even been here to look at it. The contractors they are using are terrible. I looked each one up online and they have horrible ratings. I have to wait 48 hours each time they dispatch a new company because the other won’t respond. The dispatch people really couldn’t care less. I have spoken to at least 6 different people including a manager and they sound like they are going to yawn into the phone. They couldn’t care less. So, I looked for a company with a good online review and called them this morning. They have already been out and fixed the unit. It needed freon and that was it. 1 month waiting for 2-10 and a good company fixes it in 4 hours for $160. I will NOT be renewing my 2-10 warranty, that is for sure!
2-10 is not in the customer service buisness. The Friday before Memorial Day my upstairs AC unit stopped working. I contacted 2-10 and they said they would call a repair service and have to my house within 24 hours. They also gave me the name and number of the local repair company. After 24 hours I called the local repair company but was unalble to reach anyone. I called 2-10 back and was told the contractor now had 48 hours to respond. After 48 hours I called the contractor and still did not get an answer. I checked the local BBB and HVAC certification board and was told the contractor did not exist. I then called a local HVAC company to repair the unit. They reponded within a couple of hours and repaired the my AC. When I call 2-10 I was told it was my responsibility to tell them if thier contractor failed to show. Also 2-10 is only obligated to “dispatch” a repair request to a contractor an not responsible if he does not show. I am now looking for a new warranty company.
not even a year and i’m looking for another company
My heating unit went. The repair company recommended replacement of the 30-year-old unit. I thought, “$65 deductible for a new heating system. Wow!” Lots of ups, extras, government disposal fees, code updates, etc. brought it to $750. Still a bargain for total replacement. Last thing they did was to add freon to AC unit (?). Two months later, I turned on the AC, it was broken. Repair company said, “Just a coincidence, even though it worked fine before we touched it.” They recommended total replacement ($65?). Again, ups cost me $900. Still a bargain, but THEY broke it in the first place. Had I had the Supreme coverage for an extra $50 annually, I would have only paid the $65 each time. Bad news is, they replaced by AC with a freon unit, which were phased out by government months later. Each year, it will be harder to get parts. I thought I had a great AC unit for $900, and it’s now the less-desirable one. I can’t say 2-10 ripped me off, but the contractor certainly did. I probably saved $2K or more when all was said and done. If you get a home warranty, get the extra protection.
I’ve been a customer of 2-10 since 2007. The contractors they work with provided fair service. Some contractors arrived in a timely manner and followed up while other contractors could care less and blew off appointments. Last year, my A/C broke and 2-10 had to replace it. Well this year, 2-10 chose not to renew my policy. Moral of the story: they’re a pretty good company as long as you don’t have any MAJOR issues.
