Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. |
Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine.
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. This company is a scam run out of Florida. I bought a home warranty in April of 2012.
They were happy to take my money but when needed were gone. I found out that the supposed owner was wanted by police for scamming people
They went out of business last summer owing me for a $4,000 air conditioner replacement bill. I had to pay the contractor for the replacement as Arkidus did not pay the a/c company. Arkidus’ owner, Ray Berges, did respond to an e-mail I sent him in October and he called me telling me that he would get me repaid within three weeks. Well, it’s been three MONTHS. Haven’t heard anything else despite sending him several more e-mails. Can’t get a response via phone as the main Arkidus number is always busy and Mr. Berges does not answer his phone and it does not have a voice mailbox set up. I filed a complaint with the Florida BBB, which hasn’t gone anywhere as Arkidus is out of business. The Florida AG won’t do anything as I live in Arizona. The Arizona AG won’t do anything as Arkidus is in Florida. Wish I could give Arkidus a NEGATIVE rating!
This is a SCAM. These two guys have created their own positive reviews, spin, etc. I bit last June, and I lost every cent of the $450 I paid when I called in August to request service, only to find that THESE GUYS DON’T EXIST. They’re probably in Barbados right now with a lot of people’s money.
I am not pleased with this company. The claims line is almost always busy and if you do get through and leave a message they are very slow to call you back. My major home systems like the heat pump and the air handler were about 20 years old and when they went they told me that I should of gotten a rider for them because they were over 10 years old (it would of been better if they told me this when I got the policy). Also they did not contact when the policy expired and so now I am without coverage.
I bought this policy in June of this year. Had an issue in July and have never been able to get through. I want to know how to get my money back because this is unbelievable. When I checked them out, there was nothing negative except about filing a claim so I did not think it was a huge scam. I am so upset because I got this policy for my mother in law who lives alone and is 92, and I explained it to them. I have no faith in people when things like this happens and they take advantage of the elderly. Why does this site still exist and come up?
Went out of business. No refund of premium or communication whatsoever. Hoping the owners get a class action suit against them.
After reading others reviews I now understand why my emails, phone calls and text messages have gone unanswered. How does a person get their money back from this company?
Purchased in Feb, had several claims that were paid by company, however in July called to do a claim and number was busy and has been since then. Spoke with the manger who was very rude and tole me that the company owned him money. I never received correspondence from Arkidus about going out of business. i bought this warrenty in march 2012 i have been trying to call and email the phone is always busy and not answering my emails i need help in getting my money back and cancelling it so they dont get anymore money from me when my contract is up im in vegas and the company is in fl. plz help
After making a claim I’m told they are out of business, but will “give me a full refund” after I call the “boss” this week end. I am very suspisious about this. I will call him and try to get my refund and will follow up with a new post afterward.
I had Home Warranty before I purchased this policy. Yes I do beleive the write ups I reviewed in making my decision were false. Very disappointing so I am out some money. I tried to make a claim and all the phones numbers did not work. No response to the emails. Still kicking my self for leaving the other program. Yes they were slow on taking care of things but non-existent is another issue.
DO NOT BUY THIS WARRANTY!!!! Chances are they pillars of the community will open up under a different name- I did not realize the issues with the types of companies could be this bad

This company is out of business! I signed up with them at the beginning of June, paid my yearly premium in full and never received my coverage card. Called them about a month ago to find out what’s going on and can’t reach them. Did some research and discovered that they folded, took all our premiums, and didn’t even pay their employees. DO NOT BUY!

The worst…..signed up in June 2012. I try to make 3 plumbing claims and I couldn’t
through by phone or email. One of which I fixed myself and the last two were fixed by my local water company(I have a plan with them). After thinking about it and never heard back from them I decided to cancel. Well the emails have gone unanswered and the phone lines are always busy. I find out now this company has done to to almost everyone and is probably out business and with my yearly contact payment and also with alot of other people money.
In the beginning they responded to my claims. It was not a prompt response but they responded a few times. However, approximately a month ago I needed help w/ plumbing service & I could not contact them. I called their phone number several times & it would be busy all the time. I also sent a claim on their website a couple of times & I did not get any respond until now. I end up paying for the plumbing service myself, that should have been covered by my home insurance warranty. As I searched online to try to figure out what happened. I came across this site & felt sick to my stomach to know that I have been scammed. Can anyone advise me as what to do now to try to get my refund?
They are under investigation. It is probably a scam. Purchased in March and never seen my money ever since. I still owe a contractor and the firm is out of business now being investigated.
I purchased a contract, paid in full, in May 2012. On recommendation from the Better Business Bureau website I just filed an insurance fraud report to the Texas Insurance Commission. I have been trying to contact them since August to file a claim and the phone number provided is busy and no response to emails. I will let you know if anything happens with the report.
After starting this contract in May 2012, I first tried to contact them on 20 September 2012 for a garbage disposal repair and still as of 24 September 2012 cannot get anyone to answer to phone or e-mail. This is unacceptable and does results in Arkidus Home Protection not living up to there contract.
Based my purchase on numerous internet sources; here, Angie’s list and a couple of other sources. Arkidus’ rating has gone from A+ in May to F in August. Not entirely sure what is going on, but cannot reach via phone or email. Will file a complaint with the Texas Insurance board, but don’t expect to recover anything. Biggest issue is I’m without any coverage right now and really not sure where to go to.
THE WORST! TOTAL SCAM! We stupidly paid in full upfront and called regarding a plumbing issue. Their phone has been busy for three weeks – there has been no response to online requests and no answer from my “personalized agent.” They took our money and ran leaving us with an over $500 bill for our “covered” expense. SO ANGRY! STAY AWAY!!!
Also a scamed customer and just bought my plan in July !!! Was sent an email from the company on 9-11-12 stating the following….
We apologize for not communicating with you sooner. Please understand that due to the high volume of calls the owner is speaking with everyone individually as to how get a full refund since the company has gone out of business.

We purchased home protection with arduous. We paid them, got this cool package in the mail that looks legitimate BUT..when our refrigerator died 3days ago, we haven’t been able to get through on the phone. Its ALWAYS BUSY!!! In trying to file a claim, this company will not even call me back. At first,they were talking to me, but when it came time to pay up, the won’t answer calls, nor call me back. Have sent numerous e-mails, with no response. Wasn’t difficult to get them to talk to you when taking out the policy. I would never recommend this company. They will probably remove this, but maybe it will help at least a few customers before it is removed.
Stay away from them. I don’t think they are in business anymore. No one answers their 877 number. They have too many complaints against them and unpaid service bills of recent. People who have issues with them are talking to the State Attorney’s office in FL and your local Attorney General’s office to get their money back.
WARNING: IT’S A SCAM.
I had two plumbing jobs done under my policy. The plumbing company called me stating that they can’t get in touch with this company and they have not been paid. I tried to call but the number for Arkidus home protection has been busy all the time no matter what time or day. So in short, I beleive it’s a fake business to sign up as many customers as possible and then disappear. I had to pay the plumbing company out of pocket and now the policy is useless. I tried to call Ray Bridges, the guy in charge. His number gave a massage stating box full, now it says massage box not set up yet.
I am planning on contacting BBB and more.
