Purchased a multi-year warranty and when I filled a claim found out they went out of business. Spend several months trying to find out how to get my money back and found out today that Colonial Home Warranty is currently represented by Richard B Honig (http://hlgslaw.com/attorneys/honig-richard/) while the point of contact for those of us trying to recoop our funds is Nancy Issacson (http://www.greenbaumlaw.com/attorneys-Nancy-Isaacson.html). I purchased a years contract and my water heater is now of the fritz. I went to call them and see that they are out of business. The more I read about how they scammed people after 2012 to purchase contracts they would never honor is unbelievable. I just need to know what I need to do to get my money back?

I'm also a disgruntle consumer that fell for Colonial Home Warranty which just filed for bankruptcy. Now I have to deal with XPD Home Warranty who isn't any better. They claim to have 24/7 support but you can't reach anyone after 5pm. The website, they claim is up and running but when I access it to check my claim status, there is nothing there. I tried to submit a claim for my septic system about 3 months ago that was after hours. I waited till the next morning to submit it because they have no after hour service and they said they had no contractors available for 3 weeks. (I would like to see the owner of XPD live without toilets for 3 weeks.) If we wanted to find our own, they would only cover a portion of it since we didn't use their contractor. I just paid myself. I just filed another claim for my well pump that supplies drinking water to our house. It went out after 5pm "of course" and I couldn't wait till morning so I called a local contractor. The local contractor helped me get water for the evening and came out the next morning. I called XPD again and they of course wouldn't cover the call out because it wasn't their contractor. After I was able to get water service again, it was found that the well pump had a broken shaft. My XPD contract states they will cover parts only. That's fine except they decide what parts and how much they should cost, not the actual cost of the well pump. I replaced it with the exact same pump and they only cover 10% of the actual cost of the pump. I've been trying for 3 weeks to get the settlement paperwork for the claim and they for some reason can't send emails with attachments. Stay away from XPD and anything to do with XPD. They are thieves and do everything they can not to pay what they are responsible for. Never do business with XPD. I'm letting everyone I know not to deal with XPD and all the realtors in this area tell their clients not to deal with XPD. view less

Well finally I have some good news to post to this critical site. Several of the warranties I had with colonial were "farmed" out to XPD. Apparently Colonial couldn't operate in TX. I was able to contact XPD a couple weeks ago and cancel 9 policies. I can't believe it I actually got almost half my money back!! SOOO--If your property is in TX you may have a small chance of getting to cancel and get money back. If your property is located in TX and you bought a colonial warranty it will say something about XPD on the warranty paperwork, along with a number for XPD. Call them, its worth it if they are still answering the phone. view less

I too am a victim of this company. Purchased a 3 year contract in advance in April 2013. Needed a water tan replaced and they gave me a song and dance about having to wait 30 days after the contract became active before a replacement could be made. Had to purchase a new water tank with no help from Colonial. Now the plumbing company sending me a letter threatening to sue me if Colonial don't pay for the services. I told them I paid my portion and they need to talk to Colonial for any other monies owed. Talked to the Bankruptcy court and they advised me to file a proof of claim ASAP and seek legal help. view less

XPD may not be the parent company of Colonial. However, they do handle all Colonial Warranties in TX. If you have a property located in TX it will say that on the policy in fine print. XPD handles claims in the same CRAPPY way Colonial does. Stay away!!! And yes XPD will deny all knowledge of Colonial. Imagine that, they handle their claims but don't know a thing about them or even how to reach them. view less

For those of you looking for a place to call, XPD actually owned Colonial Home Warranty. They don't answer the phones either but the presidents name is Robert Levy and his direct line is 302-884-6727. He doesn't respond but I'm thinking if enough of us call at least he will be just as annoyed as all of the people they hung out to dry.

OK. So I started calling XPD since they apparently took over the claims from Colonial. Now you can't get through to them either. I have had a claim outstanding for 5 months. How do we file a class action suit against them?

I wish i could give them -5. I have 3 homes all insured by them. I too fell in their trap of buying 3 year plan. They wiggled out of every claim I have made so far on any of my properties.
This last one was a straw on the camel's back.
Our Microwave broke and we were leaving for the weekend. We came back and reported the claim on Tuesday. They accepted the claim sent the contractor, and once they figured out that magnetron was broken and needed replacement, they rejected the claim on the ground that we did not file the claim within 24 hours of the failure. The contract does not say that claim needs to be filed within 24 hrs. When I called back, I was asked to write a letter and the agent said they cannot reopen the case once rejected. I complied, but as expected no response came from colonial. So i decided to call them last week.

Looks like they have closed the shop and run away with my prepaid premium for 3 years worth of service (1 year on each home). Website does not allow login to look up case history or print contract details...

I am planning to report to BBB. Anyone else has a suggestion how we can report this highway robbery to the law? view less

Just got a call from the contractor saying the warranty company never paid and they are sending it to a collections agency against us. This company is completely a scam. I made several claims in past weeks, and never got a singal approval. They always made a reason to deny. I totally agree that Colonial is a complete SCAM. However, what most of you may not know is that XPD Home Warranty is the parent company of Colonial. Colonial does not even answer their phone now, as of Mid March 2014. Nobody tells you to read the fine print in your policy and learn that XPD really runs things, AND now you have to call them for service--However, they and Colonial are one and the same, so same crappy service etc. Like many of you I'm currently trying to cancel my policies, and even this is going to take forever, and I'll believe when I see a refund check. ALL WARRANTYS MAY NOT BE BAD--BUT LOOK AT THE FINE PRINT AND IF COLONIAL OR XPD IS ON ANYTHING-----STAY AWAY FROM THE SCAM. view less

Today is 3/19/14, I cancelled my policy over a month ago due to Colonial not wanting to pay for septic service & I have yet to receive an email from them confirming cancellation much less my reimbursement for the rest of the coverage I've paid that's owed to me! This company is the worst home warranty I have had water heater went out called Colonial they stated that I did not turn it in in time so they refused to pay after I had been paying this faithfully for over a YEAR.

Customer Service is rude. The contact times are horrible. I waited 60 days and still haven't gotten my oven repaired. They told me I should have reported the claim within 24 hours of discovering the problem after I waited patiently. However, my claim status on the account shows it's still open. Colonial needs to close down and start anew!!!

Colonial will not pay for any major issue with your A/C or heater. If you read the fine print unless it is new they will not pay. They will pay for the little things that don't cost much. Beware! put the Premium into a Home sav account and pay for the repairs your self, Your going to pay anyway.

Their Customer Service is HORRIBLE! They randomly assign contractors that may or may not work in your area. They don't check to see if it has been completed. Being a Landlord I often don't find out until later that it hasn't been fixed. Contractors refuse to come to my house because they say Colonial does not pay them on time and pay horrible rates and it doesn't pay for them to work for them. Every service call I initiated had to be reassigned at least 2 times to find someone willing to work with Colonial. Run don't walk away from this company!! view less

STAY AWAY from colonial. Denied claim for no apparent reason for a water heater and refuses to e-mail us as to why they are refusing my claim. I am still waiting for a technician visit for more than a year old claim.

All I got is an anger and frustration after signing up for 3 year service. argh.....

with their attitude, I won't be surprised if their is a class action suit against them. time for a small claims court proceeding and BBB reviews.. view less

If I could give zero stars I would. Nothing much to say except what everyone has said. Four claims, all denied. The cover of the contract, which you see before signing said they were covered, but they have so many weasel clauses in the contract, nothing is covered. I had a lawyer read the contract and they literally could not find anything that was covered, but because I am in CA and they are in DE, I have no recourse, which actually turned out not to be true. I won't go into details, but this company is in a lot of trouble and they know it. view less

I have had Conial Home Warranty for about 5 years. I had a couple small claims with no issues but i have not had a claim in over 3 years. I had a problem with my dryer and they are refusing the claim because they said i had a foil vent on it. I took pictures and had to have the tech they sent out write a letter stating it was not foil. I had to file an appeal and wait weeks. They then responded and said the dryer vent was not properly maintained and cleaned??? I have to appeal again. DO NOT do business with this company They will try to find ways not to pay their claims. Read other blogs on home warranty companies and you will see MANY comp[laints about this company. WE FOUND THE SERVICE, CUSTOMER CARE AND REPAIRS CONTROLLED BY COLONIAL LESS THAN ADEQUATE AND IN OUR CASE NON-EXISTANT!

WE FOUND COLONIAL TO BE SOMEWHAT ABUSIVE AND CALLUS WHEN DEALING WITH US AS CUSTOMER.

WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE NEEDING HOME WARRANTY.

Second claim i have made first one i waited 2 weeks for them to call me and got nothing had to pay out of pocket for it, this is my second claim and they still have NO one to come out to my house 5 dys later! I am so disappointed! This is a company you make a donation to basically because you get nothing you paid for!

Called in repair of clothes dryer 21 Nov 2013. Today is 16 Dec 2013, still without use of my dryer. This could almost be considered breach of contract.
