Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights

This is the first part of a review.
New owner, with the policy purchased in July as a gift to me.
Overnight my furnace kicked in and the motor begain making noise as if it is locking up.
I’ve called several times now to place a claim with no response.
09am EST – Left Voice to claims.
10am EST – Follow-up Call, went to voice mail (Left no message)
11am EST – Follow-up Call, left voice mail to claims.
11am EST – Called again, and chose Operator to determine if claims was avail;able, went to Kay’s voicemail. Left a message.
So far, very un-impressed.
I’ll post more and a review rating when, if, but, someday, if maybe I recieve any response or service.
We can recommend Globe Home Warranty. We had a clogged drain on Friday just after Thanksgiving. The contractor sent out was tidy and professional, and he cleaned out the lines very quickly. I am so glad we have the warranty, especially with our house full of visiting family at the moment.
I have the 4 Star warranty from Globe and have never used it for anything until just last week. On monday, just before Thanksgiving, our stove would not turn on. I checked the breakers but that wasn’t the issue so i called to have someone come look at it. My wife was almost hysterical as we were having some relatives in from Glen Burnie for dinner on thursday. Anyways, we talked to someone named Kay and she had one of their providers come out to the house and look at it. I am not sure of what the guy said the issue was, but it couldnt be fixed for a reasonable price, so Globe actually got us a new stove. Its not the same one we had, but a new model from Sears and I like it better.
Well, I wanted to let people know that they really came through for us and had everything up and running by wednesday, just in time for Thanksgiving. Thanks again Globe!
I have Globe home warranty for my house and I had a problem recently and the company after i told them, had a company called Standard plumbing come to my house. The response time was as quick as if i did not have a warranty. My only issue is with the plumbing company, Standard Plumbing. Globe should not use them to fix the warranty itmes because they tried to get me to upgrade and have Globe pay for it. This caused a delay in getting my repair done because globe would not pay for the upgrade, only fix what i already had, which is fine. I will keep using globe home warranty, but the next time something breaks, I don’t want Standard Plumbing to come fix it. I’m giving a 4 star because the plumber was no good, i know its not Globe’s fault but i had to deal with them.
As a contractor, had to wait about 4 months to be paid for a single invoice. Nobody answered the phone, Kay was a name quite often used when I did get a voice. It was only after informing Glove the Pa and FGlorida Attorney General and Insurance Commissions would be notified that we were paid. Contractors stay far away.
We just moved in into our new home back in July 09′ The seller offered to buy us the premium Global Home Warranty. Sun. night, the garbage disposal started to make an awful noise. Looked inside it and found parts broken off the unit. I called GLobal the same night and I was able to speak with a person on a Sun. night. I told him what happened and he told me that a contracted plumber will call within 4 business day. The next day, the plumber called and was ready to check the unit Tue. morning at 9:30.
Tue. morning, the plumber came and said that the whole unit needs to replaced. He called GLobal and they said that it would cover the parts and labor. The plumber went to Lowe’s and got an new garbage disposal unit, installed it and he asked for $50. Wrote the check and that was it!!
VERY HAPPY with the service and how quickly Global contacted the plumber.

This is nonsense. Every time a claim is denied, the cry of “I’ve been cheated” is screamed. No, you can’t go out and buy all new appliances and send the bill to the warranty company. That’s not the way it works, read your contract.
As a realtor, I’ve used Globe for years, and so have thousands of other realtors. Warranty companies are regulated just the same as insurance companies are. There is so much fraud from “consumers”, but no protection for the warranty companies except for their contracts. Every time I see a “problem” with one of the top 4 warranty companies, its because of a legitimate mistake, an unscrupulous realtor, seller or homeowner.
This is a good company and I am tired of the “Everyone is a victim” mentality so many people seem to have. For every claim denied, there are 100 approved and these happy clients don’t go running to an internet “complaint site” to brag about how great their service was. Think about it.
I purchased a home warrenty in Oct and I have yet to recieve my paperwork. I called for the 2nd or third time inquiring about my paperwork. Here it is about a month later and I have not received my paperwork. I called and was treated very poorly. I asked to speak to a superviser and she treated me nasty. I asked for a refund she said that she would give me a refund by check I paid by credit card why can’t you credit my card? I have had warrenty shields before and it doesn’t take this long to send out paperwork. The supervisor asked me if I had a claim no I just wanted my paperwork. She would not let me speak out talking me. I am just wondering if I will be credit. If not I am going to call again. If you are looking for a home warrenty don’t go with this one customer service is terrible!!!!!
We are a plumbing contractor in Northwest Indiana. We signed a contract with Globe Home Warranty to do Plumbing Repairs. The contract we signed with them says “We pay all invoice 30 days from receipt of invoice.” We did a service call for them on 5/13/09. Today is 11/04/09 and we still have not gotten paid. We have called them at least once a week asking for payment. Every time the woman “Kay” acts like she doesnt know what we are talking about. She has told us on 3 different occasions that a check was cut or mailed out, in August, September, and October. Nothing yet! I am going to file a complaint with the BBB.
WOW,
This is so sad that in the mist of crisis a warranty company is taking advantage of the people. People that work hard for there money and trust that a company is going to keep there part as a service provider. I as a subcontractor find a company like this with low standards and no values of no worth. Please be very careful when purchasing a warranty
for your home. Landamerica Home Warranty is a place to go. They get there tech’s out nextday and have a deductible of 50 dollars. The contact relations persons are excellant and have great customer service skills available.
I made a huge mistake getting a warranty with Globe. They are impossible to get a hold of, they NEVER return your calls, and God forbid if you have to pay for something and get them to reimburse you, it will only happen after you report them to the BBB.
I had an issue with my dishwasher in January this year, and it wasn’t until I lodged a formal complaint with the BBB in JUNE that Globe re-imbursed me. I called and left countless messages for Kaye and spoke with Josh and nothing happened, even though I was told I was approved for the re-imbursement. When I was at the end of my rope, I spoke with Josh and said that if I didn’t get a call back from Kaye that day, I would complain to the BBB. Josh’s response was, “I’m not going to sit here and listen to your threats.”
What a jerk!
When I signed up with Globe in November ‘08, I never got a copy of my policy. I asked for it repeatedly over several months, and I did not get it until August this year.
I cannot wait until my warranty runs out in December to switch to another company. I dread calling them if anything else happens. They are worse than useless because they promise to deliver a lot, then once they have your money, they are nothing but stress and heartache. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!
Don’t expect to get anything resolved in a timely manner. Never recieved a single phone call from claims adjuster after HVAC tech came out to look at problem. Hint: Keep your mouth shut when they start asking questions because your getting ready to get screwed! And when asked if you had a home inspection reply “NO”. Policy wasn’t worth the paper they printed the contract on.
Hi everyone. I just wanted to post something on here since I ran across this site on my way to the Globe web site. I have some personal experience with this company and wanted to share it as all I see on here is complaints.
I am a realtor in Miami and actually use this company, and have been for several years. I put a Globe warranty on all the houses I list and it is better for the potential buys and for me as well. I was using several different companies at first (been realtor for 6 years now) and now have gravitated towards Globe as they have done good by me over the years. There have been a couple of times where the home buyer did not understand the warranty and in every case, something amicable was worked out. At least twice I think Globe extended me a professional courtesy and paid for something they did not have to, just to make my client happy and of course, me also. I do sell alot of their warrantys, but I would not continue to do so if I thought there was an issue with them.

Story way to long to write, but this company is a complete scam. They are rude, and totally committed to not paying claims. It was a total waste of $400, as we were forced to pay for our A/C repairs out of pocket.
I have been sitting here reading all these reviews and have something to add myself. Globe has been my provider for the past 7 years. They have saved me money time and time again over the years. Reading these complaints have me stunned! It’s apparent that alot of people don’t understand what their warranty covers. It does cover failure due to wear and tear. My neighbor paid over $4000 to an A/C company for a replacement unit. I paid a little over $280 because of my warranty. I think this site allows their competitors to talk trash about Globe.
This company, on 2 separate occasions, did everything they could to deny a claim, so I had to eat the loss myself both times to keep my clients happy. I will never write another. I was offended when calling them that they play Christian music on hold, though the way they acted was not in good faith.
Just bought my first place and inherited this Globe Warranty. What everyone here said about this company is right on. Their customer service is rude. They act like you’re doing something wrong and creating this conspiracy to suck them dry. I have called about my air conditioner not cooling the 2nd floor of my house. I even paid to have my own tech come out and submitted the findings to Globe. They told me someone has been dispatched and wait to hear from them. A week later I am still waiting for a phone call. I am 26 years old and have a major heart condition. My bedroom is 90 degrees which isn’t good for me. Is there anyone we could report this company too? I will write a letter a day if I have too.
If you like to waste time and money, this is the company for you. I filed a claim for a problem with a built in microwave on 05/28/09. Of course they had to have the entire home inspection report faxed to them before they would agree we were entitled to make a claim. They informed us they had contacted a repair service and we should wait to hear from them. (WAIT being the operative word.) It is now over 2 weeks later and we have made repeated phone calls to Globe with no results. Our seller paid $379.00 for this “insurance”. What a waste. I intend to tell every realtor in town and contact the BBB.
If you enjoy not getting called back and being spoken to rudely then you would like this company. I spoke to a first class jerk named “Jeff”. I’m going to call my realtor and let him know not to recommend this company in the future.
This service is a scam!!! Do Not BUY
As a Broker I often recommended this company, along with a couple others, to my clients. In the beginning – about 5 years ago – they appeared to be good. In the last 2 years they have become so bad that I no longer recommend this company to ANYONE!
Customer service is no service at all and not customer focused, actually rude. I have a “cash out” for a dishwasher I replaced following their confirmation it would be paid and after mailing, faxing and calling with the receipt (from January through April 2009) I have no check and no return calls.
I wish I could say anything positive about Globe Home. I can’t. I’m just lucky that we only had to use them once, and only for a broken washing machine.
In late November 2008, my husband and I found that our washer’s transmission had blown. We called this warranty company, who had been recommended by our broker (Hah!). They waited two weeks to send someone out to look at it. He told us, “The transmission is dead and you’ll need a new machine.” Fine. We paid $80 for that. We were told we’d get $300 in reimbursement. So we went online to Sears with my husband’s emergency credit card, and ordered a washer on sale for $399, plus $65 delivery and installation. We thought, hey, we’d only be paying $164 for a new washer! The reimbursement check didn’t come. I called them. They said it would get to us at the end of February 2009. Okay, then. February came. No check. March came and went. No check. I called them again in April. The lady I spoke with sounded very annoyed and told me, “The check will be mailed out any day now” – and hung up on me. WHAT?
So, right, we still don’t have that $300 and my husband has already paid his credit card balance. But that money would have been really nice, you know?
I will not be renewing our yearly 5-star service (pardon me while I laugh at this). I’ll be going with a different company. This is ridiculous.
