| Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights

Globe Home Warranty Company responded quickly and professionaly to my heater claim. My heater did not come on last friday. Globe sent a technician that confirmed a cracked heat exchaner. It was changed out on monday and we have a new Carrier 110,000 btu heater. Thank you Globe Home Warranty Company
Globe is a Great company. I have had great service from them. I have been with them 3 years now and just had a my furnace fail. They dispatched a good HVAC contractor and they repaired the furnace which cost me just the $55 service fee and it was quick and painless. I recommend Globe to everyone. Great company.
I wish I could are Globe Home Warranty lower than “Poor”. These guys are the worst company I have ever dealt with. I had an A/C go down and needed to be replaced. Their contractor quoted over $3K, I had my own contractor replace the unit for just under $2K. GHW told me that if I paid the contractor I would be reimbursed within 30 days. It has been over 6 months and they keep lying to me…the latest is that the check was already sent…that was over 2 weeks ago. To make it better…they won’t pay the total claim saying that the whole unit didn’t need to be replaced, even though both contractors (one sent by them) said there was no other option. They can’t even tell me what the amount of the check they “sent” was. This company is a scam!!! DO NOT PURCHASE!!!
KNOW YOUR STATE LAWS: I am a contractor and ADVICE to anyone considering this or any/home warranty company. We were called and executed the service call within 24hrs notice, very timely manner. We were advised from their sales dept. it will take up to 45 days to be paid from GHW. We are closing in on 90days and I have made countless phone calls to the company, leaving messages, being told someone will call me back, and routed to answering machines. FYI in the State of Floria, a contractor hired by a homeowner has 90days to file a lien on your house. If you let me into your house you have authorized my work!
I submitted a claim for repair back in May. Globe refused to pay the fee of the serviceguy THEY sent out and told me to hire my own repair person and would be reimbursed, but could not tell me up to what amount they would cover or if it was all of the cost…I am still waiting for reimbursement. I have over a dozen calls to them and I get the same speach every time, claims tak3 6 weeks. It has been 4 months!! Every extension I dial, gets routed to “claims” when they pick up the phone which is like every 8th time I try to call. They have never gotten back to me with status on my check. They have refused to respond to BBB. Don’t use them, it is a scam and a rip off!!!!
I bought a home and paid for a home warranty with Globe. In the June my AC went out. I called to place a claim and after two weeks of unreturned calls and the run around I spoke with Kay who said that the claim was being denied, and that they would reimburse my premiums… but only because it was far cheaper to do that than replace my unit. I requested a reimbursement of my $79 service fee as well becuase the reason for the denial was based on information provided to them prior to the service call being made. Kay agreed. I have called Kay several times between then and now to verify that a check will be sent and she assured me it is processed and the check will be sent. Now I call today and she denies that she told me I would receive a reimbursement and they never reimburse service fees. She told me that I have to speak with somebody else in the accounting dept named Sarah…although she claims she is the accounting manager. I think my case will end up in court before long.
Our Air conditioner stopped working, and my 2 year old son has asthsma and it’s triggered by the heat. I called several times about this, and 3 months later a contracted company came out to address and diagnose the problem, only to find we had leaky valves on our outside unit, and our coils inside the house were inefficient. I called everyday only to get an automated answering machine where I would leave my name, and number, and they never once returned a single call. Finally I told my husband to call from his work, and he was able to talk to someone, and they told him that they filed our claim away because our air conditioning unit was over 20 years old. When I requested a copy of our contract they were very rude and would hang up on me, then when I would call back immediately, I again received the automated message line. They’re very rude, very unprofessional, and unwilling to stand good on their word that they’ll repair or replace whatever is broken and covered within the time of the warranty. My son was hospitalized 3 times for his normally “seasonal” asthsma. I would NEVER recommend this corporation to anyone, and yet when I contacted my ReMax agent in Illinois, who recommended this company to our seller, to let her know about them, but she must not care, because she’s still recommending them.
Do not purchase a warranty from Globe Home warranty. They cancelled my warranty when the first (only) claim was placed for AC repair.
I purchased a home in August 2007, and was not familiar with Home Globe Warranty Company. I dealt with American Home Shield for ten years, and decided to switch to HGWC. The company was authorized to deduct the fee from my checking account, and I never used them. The house is fairly new, and was built in 2000. In July 2010 I opened my garage door, and could not close it. I emailed the company, and never got a reply. It was Friday night, so I waited for Monday and I call the company. I was told that I was not covered, and my policy was cancelled by HGWC. I re-applied, and gave my bank’s information. I got a call from the company, and it was confirmed. The company will deduct $79 in July, and the monthly payment will start in August. I got a letter dated “June 21, 2010″ on “July 26, 2010″, and it states: The Underwriting Department has declined coverage for the above property. No funds have been taken for premium using the bank information submitted over the internet. At this time we are not able to place coverage. It is signed by Mr. Alexander Peyton, and HGWC gave me no reasons. I do not know excactly what to do next, but intend to complain because this is grossly unfair. I paid this company for three years, and was dropped for no particular reasons. It seems that insurance companies in Central Florida can pretty much do whatever they want without any consequences, and it is wrong. I would like to hear from others with similar problems with HOME GLOBE WARRANTY CORPORATION, and what can I do as a consumer to correct the wrong.
We moved into our new home which was covered (or NOT covered, as I am finding out very quickly) by Globe Home Warranty. The first time we ran our dishwasher, we had flooding under the kitchen sink that leaked down to the basement and caused a lot of damage. We called Globe immediately, but they claimed that they had no proof of payment, so we had to contact our title company who then sent them our proof of payment from 2 months prior that Globe should have had. It took three days of being on the phone with very rude customer service reps for them to even file a claim. Then it took another several days for them to send over a plumber. Mind you, we could not use our dishwasher or kitchen sink for a full week, which is a big deal when you have kids. The plumber came and fixed the problem, but the next day after the work was complete, we found out that Globe would not cover us. When we tried to call and inquire about what was going on, we were met with much resistance and, again, horrible customer service. We explained that we understand that certain things are not covered but wondered why they didn’t have protocol set up to let us know BEFORE the work is done. Also, we tried to explain that we were dissatisfied that it took them several days to file the claim and another several days to send over a plumber for an emergency issue. We now have extensive damage under the sink, through the floorboards, all the way into the basement where it dripped all over our carpet and furniture. We would have hired a plumber to come over the day we had the problem but were told we had to wait on Globe if we wanted it to be covered, and now it’s not covered anyhow. My biggest concern is with the HORRIBLE lack of any courtesy or decency from their customer service. One lady thought she had clicked off the call with me and started trashing me while I was still on the phone! Unbelievable! We are going with a different home warranty service and advise anyone else to do the same.
I have had my home for many years and as things began to show signs of ware about 10 years ago I decided to purchase home warranty insurance while everything was still in good working order. A Realtor friend suggested Globe Home Warranty. At that time he said they were reliable and would relieve any concerns about being hit by large unexpected repairs or replacements. And they would help me decide what still had life and what needed replacing.
My most recent experience was two weeks ago on a 90degree day, my a/c continued to run but was not cooling my home. The problems began late on a Friday night, I did my best to remedy the problem myself by switching things on and off but to no avail. By Saturday night we were melting. The temperature on the second floor was over 95degrees. I placed a call to Globe thinking I would leave a message for Monday morning. To my surprise the phone was answered by an efficient company representative who asked me a series of questions which determined that a service person would have to come out to check things out. They offered to have someone come out the next day (Sunday) but I said we had waited this long Monday would be fine. Before 8:00 AM a call came and the service person was there within the hour. It was decided that a whole new system was needed. This was reported back to Globe from my home. Before 5:00 PM a brand new 13 seer puron quality system was installed, My cost for all of this was $79.00. Cool and happy again!
This was the most expensive thing replaced in my home to date. Globe has come out for plumbing leeks, appliance repairs and now the replacement of the a/c unit. I am more that satisfied with my decision to purchase a warranty from Globe Home Warranty and will continue to have one for years to come.
I have to agree with all the negative comments about this company! They are very nice when they are telling you about their services (and that is why I choose them) then when you call in a claim they put you through this questioner that is all to personalable and when I asked why they need to know all my business they told me that the service tech needed to know (do I live there permantantly, are we away from the home for lengths of time, we need to see the inspection report). If there are things that they would choose not to cover based on an inspection report then they should of asked for that before I paid for a contract, and no one needs to know when I’m home or not. So now they have you sold and now is the time for the otherside of these people to show. They are rood as can be, they put you on hold for long periods of times, hang up on you, and don’t answer your phone calls or e-mails. Sarah is one rood women, without going into detail about the whole thing, basically I cancelled within the 10 days of signing in Dec. 2009 it is now June 2010 and they still have not come through for me. They have refunded some of the $704, but has yet to send me an explination of cost incurred to me. When I called to get the information (mind you it was a miricale that they answered my call, although I was on a good hold)Sarah said “OK this is what it is and no matter what you say it isn’t going to change things” then she explained the charges…the amount of days we had the warrenty, the amount they paid out to the A/C company, a service fee to them of $75.00. So when I asked what the service fee was for she told me “this is something I don’t have to explain to you” OK (it’s my money and I have no right knowing what I’m paying for)so then I asked why they are charging me for the service from the company they said because you used the warrenty, OK so why are you charging for the warranty if I have to pay for the service rendered, couldn’t get a really good answer, so here is the kicker, I asked, Not So Nice Sarah if they have paid the A/C company for their service, her response “that is none of your buisness!” I said that I think it is because you haven’t paid them yet and you are collecting form me what they should of already had been paid back in Dec/Jan. I don’t know about you all but I think this is fraud!!! So I called back a few minutes later to ask her to send me an e-mail of the charges and credits (not the first time I have asked for conformation), she answers the phone, I tell her who I am and Not So Nice Sarah lets out a great big sigh, now I call that great customer service (it has been over a week now and still no e-mail). So if you want this kind of service company on your side, well all I can say is you asked for it. I say STAY AWAY from Globe Home Warranty and GO WITH American Home Sheild they are the best!! They are nice they don’t have a 9-5 Mon-Fri only service company, American Home Sheild is avaliable 24/7 with no questions asked. I have used AHS for years shame on me for trying someone new.
This company is nothing more than an insurance scam. They will sell you the insurance for your home appliances, then when something breaks, they will do everything in their power to deny your claim. Do anything else but use these insurance scam artists. Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To anyone else having issues with Globe Home Warranty, please do as I have been instructed by the Pennsylvania Consumer Protection Agency.
Contact the Federal Trade Commision, your State’s Consumer Protection Agency, your State’s Insurance Commissioner, the BBB and any one else that your state may have instituted.
I am also going to put in a call to Dunn and Bradstreet! If they owe you money then you are a creditor and have the right to put a negative mark on their corporate risk rating!
Globe Home Warranty, don’t forget Kay I have that voicemail too
and I have phone records to PROVE I called on Friday which meant over 24 hours had passed since the vendor came. I also have a check of the day the heater was repaired AND a copy of the check with the date of payment to that vendor. None the reason GHW wanted to do a buy out was because NO VENDOR WANTS TO DEAL WITH THEM IN MY AREA because they either don’t pay at all or take SEVERAL MONTHS to pay and I have physical proof…anyone can email me for it!
Any one reading this, just think about how professional this company must be…seriously. I’ve been emailing them and calling them for WEEKS since they PROMISED (and publically admit so here on this very website) to send that check in the amount of $537 yet how did I find out they are not going to honor their promise? By reading a reply to my complaint about having not received it! That’s REAL professional, seriously GHW you just shot yourself in the foot!
Globe Home Warranty, you’ve lied about everything and you don’t even realize that your own response PROVES to myself, my attorney and EVERYONE ELSE THAT READS YOUR REPLY TO ME.
First, you ADMIT to stating you were going to send the check but have NOW decided to renig on that agreement…meaning you made an agreement and are taking back and have PUBLICALLY ADMITTED IT and what’s great is that you thought by posting that information it would help you in some way?!?
Second, you are a LIAR!!! I posted the claim on the heater on a FRIDAY and it didn’t get fixed until Monday which was OUT OF CONTRACT!!!!
Not all of the unpaid claims are within contract, and not all of the complaints here are unwarranted…after dealing with you I will make sure to tell everyone I know about your company…social media is a wonderful thing.
We handle thousands of claims every year and pay out on about 95% of them. The remainder of the claims filed are not contingent with our contract, or the homeowner is making a false claim. Only the ones that don’t get paid end on internet complaint sites purporting Globe Home Warranty to be a bad company. Rarely do people run to the internet to post about what a good experience they have had. The posts that are made can be easily defended so long as both sides of the argument are heard and not skewed in an effort to bash the other party. Globe Home Warranty only has a fraction of the complaints that every other warranty company has with the BBB and we satisfactorily settle every single one.
In the case with B. Mahan (Edit: full name removed for privacy concerns), she has driveled off her side of the argument, exaggerating many of the facts. She called in a heating claim on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 11:23am. We had a vendor at her house the same day at 3:00pm. The part required to repair the furnace was available but since most parts houses are not open on weekends, it would be arriving on Monday. The part arrived Monday, January 25, 2010 and was installed, thus repairing the malfunctioning furnace. This was as expeditious as any independent vendor could have possibly handled the issue.
The $537 reimbursement check was for a buyout on a water heater. The normal procedure in this case is to have the homeowner purchase the item, then send us the receipt for reimbursement. Globe was willing to send her the money first, but now has decided to abide by the contract and wait for the appropriate receipt.
Here at Globe, we understand the homeowner’s frustration with having appliances or other systems malfunctioning and we do our best to resolve the issues. Sometimes, homeowners don’t understand that we have to wait for vendors to make time to schedule appointments and to order parts. A warranty is not a magic ticket to instant repairs, but we strive to keep the red tape to a minimum so everyone walks away happy.
Well Globe Home Warranty I am glad you took the time to comment on ONE of hundreds of different complaints about your company. Have you take the time to respond to your F rating on BBB? No, I didn’t think so.
Here is a real review of Globe Home Warranty with ALL OF THE FACTS.
This company still owes me $537. Kay called me after we had a yelling match about why they refused to have a contractor come to my house and cover the water heater that was within warranty guidelines to cover. The reason they refused to send a contractor out was because NO ONE in my area wants to deal with them. All of the HVAC/PLUMBER people that have dealt with them won’t take them unless the customer pre pays and waits for reimbursement, the reason for this? Because Globe takes MONTHS to pay people. So no contractor will take their promise to pay and now I have first hand experience as to why. And Kay you can’t LIE your way out of this, I have a VOICEMAIL from you stating (over two weeks ago) that a ‘check would be in the mail’ and to my house in ONE week that was over two weeks ago. There are no other facts here other then what you may attempt to make up. I’ve called and left two messages with Lisa since last week and you’ve not returned my calls, why? Yet you can reply to this website?!? Why not reply to me, or the countless others that have had issues?
Let me tell you the FACTS about another issue with Globe Home Warranty. They tell you that if your heater doesn’t work and it IS or expected to be below 32 degrees call their so called emergency line. I called 8 TIMES on a friday night in a the DEAD OF WINTER and no return call. Saturday morning my husband and I call several more times leaving more and more message on their emergency line and still no return call. Finally, I sent them an online claim where it states not to send emergency claims but I did it anyways. Kay calls me about an hour later and says ‘ma’am, your not supposed to submit claims on the internet for an emergency’…I was floored! I know this, you moron, I’ve been leaving message for 24 hours now and can’t get a response from your crappy emergency line yet someone was available to answer messages but CHOSE to ignore it. It was in the low 20′s that evening and we had a child fresh hoome from ICU at CHOP with a heart surgery…nice~ Then the guy shows up on Sunday telling us that he doesn’t have the part and KAY refused to pay for overnight shipping for the part so that we didn’t have to go a few days without heat. We had to stay in a hotel for three days and Kay couldn’t be bothered. The heater did eventually get fixed but NOT ACCORDING TO CONTRACT.
So Kay when you want to use ‘it’s in our contract’ and just try to throw that in people’s faces maybe you and your company should practice what you preach. You can’t hold everyone else to your contract if you don’t uphold it either.
I want the $537 that you said was in the mail. You got it Katherine Vickery Hicks, I want my money…I need to replace my water heater. Besides, remember when I told you that the reason I didn’t want to PRE pay for this repair? I said it was because I knew I would never get repaid…THISS is exactly why I and countless others feel that way because despite whatever lies you come up with its TRUE…
This is in response to post #81 by Debbie King of San Antonio, TX. She leaves out all of the details of her situation and creates a very one-sided review despite knowing the issues in question.
The facts are as follows: Debbie called in an AC claim last August and we sent an AC company to her house to look at it. When the AC company got there, they discovered there was no physical access to the AC unit in the attic. The homeowner had to actually cut a hole in the ceiling big enough for someone to access the unit. The initial diagnosis of the AC unit was that it was 70% filled with dirt and debris. The filter was NEVER changed, ever. No maintenance was ever done on this unit and now it was malfunctioning. The warranty plan that the homeowner purchased does not cover lack of routine maintenance. Globe does offer a higher plan which would have covered this situation. The claim was denied and that was it.
Another claim was filed in April of this year for leaking freon. The leaking freon was caused by the unit being filled with dirt and causing corrosion and holes, thus allowing the freon to leave the system. Since this is a situation caused by the home owner’s lack of routine maintenance, the claim was also denied. Debbie says no one returns her calls, but they were returned and everything was explained as per the contract. How much time shall we dedicate to someone after a claim has been denied and they keep making harassing calls?
What is not mentioned is that this homeowner has had claims taken care of in the past. This is not her first claim with us and Globe has spent more on this homeowner than was paid for the warranty. Globe Home Warranty takes care of thousands of claims each year, but only the ones that are denied because they do not fall under the conditions of the contract end up on these internet review sites. We really do strive to provide the best service and product for our customers.
This company will not answer the phone or hangs up on you. We have been without A/C for aproximately a month. They say someone is scheduled to come out and noboby comes. They have been running us around in circles and continue to avoid the claim. This company needs to be put out of business. I have generally the same complaints as the other postings do. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
I had my compressor in my Air conditioner go out a few months ago. Globe sent 2 different ac guys out since the first one was taking so long. I eventually got everything fixed, but my only real complaint is the ac guys who were slow. It happened in January so it really didnt affect anything, but Im glad it wasnt in the middle of the summer. Overall, the warranty more than paid for itself.
I had a water heater go out and it took me getting my agent involved(5 days)to get anything done. Know I am getting calls from the plumber upset that he has not been paid. I agree with everything the bad reviews claim. The good reviews are VERY obviously Globe Warranty posting them themselves. Do not buy from this company, you will regret it.
I have been using Globe for over 10 years. During that time, my clients have had good solid warranty service from them. We all have different clients from time to time but Globe has served me well.
As a contractor, we did 1 call for this company. The water heater was bad (leaking). We called and got an authorization number from Globe. We finished the work 8/9/2007 and have never been able to get paid. We have had numerous contacts with them and have even used a collection agency. They are the worst warranty company we have ever encountered.
I am submitting this as a courtesy to Globe Home Warranty since they took care of us last week. I normally don’t do this, but since we had a good experience, I thought it would only be proper. Last week as some others may know, we had quite a bad storm here in Indiana and got almost 12″ of snow where we live. Bad timing, but our furnace would not start the morning of the 28th. We have had a Globe warranty for 2 years now and have never used it, but I called and Kay actually managed to find a heating guy in our area and he was at our house the same day. Rob (heating guy) found the issue and got it fixed by about 6pm on Thursday , so it wasn’t too bad for the day. I was at work anyways and the kids were at school for the most part. It did cost me $75 for the service fee, but I beleive it would have cost me much more to get someone on my own. Thanks Globe.
