I purchased this 5 Star warranty for a pre owned home in May of last year, to cover my bases on a home I had no prior experience with service records for.
Last month the door on my combination built-in microwave/oven started to fall apart, with the bottom door piece cracked and pulling away from the unit. The glass in the door itself is now sliding down and out of the assembly. I believe this has caused the seal in the unit itself to become compromised, and as a result the microwave is rusting on the inside and becoming unusable.
After having a technician representing TSA come out and look at the unit, he determined the door needed to be replaced. They requested 10-12 days to find a replacement and then would come out to repair it.
10 days later I have received a call from TSA that they were unable to find a door assembly for my unit (It was the original in the house, roughly 1999), and cannot fix the unit, have a nice day.
After speaking with the rep from TSA, the wont cover the repair because they can't find the parts needed, and they won't cover the cost a new unit because it's only the door that needs replacing.
They said it's a "trim" piece that is broken (when it's half of the actual door) and they don't cover trim. ALSO, now that this claim has been logged, any claims moving forward on the unit will be automatically denied because a piece of "trim" that isn't covered would cause further damage, and they won't cover damage cause by something that was not covered in the first place.
This was my first experience with a home warranty company, I felt the need to pass it on in case anyone out there was looking at TSA for the same reason I did, and encourage them to look elsewhere.
They didn't cover a major appliance because they couldn’t find the part and were not going to replace the unit as a result, so buying a warranty from TSA in my case was a complete waste of money.
Please learn from my experience and look elsewhere, avoid the mistake I made.

DO NOT CHOOSE FOR YOUR HOME!!!

I purchased this 5 Star warranty for a pre owned home in May of last year, to cover my bases on a home I had no prior experience with service records for.

Last month the door on my combination built-in microwave/oven started to fall apart, with the bottom door piece cracked and pulling away from the unit. I bought a home in Feb 2011 and one of the "bonuses" of the sale was the in-place home warranty "thrown in" by the seller...for one year.....I should have insisted o the 500 dollars. I immediately upgraded to the 5-star plan for an additional 60-dollars. Then in the summer, the air condiditoning unit did not work.....no air. /found out no freon in it, and unit not working....so, guess what...it's on me...despite the fact that the paperwork says it is operable...has central air....I could not check it in the winter as I was told that it would not be smart to run it in February...and was assured by the agent, and the seller and this home warranty company that anything she had covered the last year, would continue to be covered....Ubelieveable ---why have a home warranty --especially as a buyer, if nothing is covered even though it is clearly listed in the paperwork that it would be? After reading all of these from the Pittsburgh Area/Washington County....it figures....they're a rip off. Now, they are calling to sell me the same 5-star plan ....for 150-dollars more....yeah, right.

I too, after reading these reviews…must post. Inflation adjusted it is probably worth $9.000-10.000.
I used them as an overpriced concierge service.
Unfortunately often it leads to higher costs. Deductible of $75 is more than trade call in my area so if nothing is really broken I paid more.
Some companies they send were horrible and not equipped to deal with a problem.
They will pay for small stuff like a faucet which would cost you little to fix yourself.
When you have expensive failure, they will weasel their way out of paying for that. Even if they would pay they will make you pay bigger part.
Lastly they did not fulfill their contract obligations and that was it for me.
They should be happy I did not sue them.
I pay insurance regularly, so I do not have to pay up big chunk of money when bad luck strikes. That what insurance is for.
HSA does not work for that purpose.
For concierge service I will hopefully be better of just calling BBB for referral.

I purchased 14 contracts from HSA with 5 star upgrades.

Will try and find anything wrong with your problem to void your warranty. I completed every requirement required by home inspection and had the furnace inspection up to code. The carbon Monoxide tester went out and a Heating and air company said to replace it. They tried to work with the warranty company. They told the warranty company it was a cracked heat exchanger. After talking and getting 2nd opinions from another Heating and air co. They told me the furnace wasn't up to code. In which my furnace techniacian never said anything about. I asked teh furnace guy and they said it was fine plenty of room. Had the Home inspector come out and put Air combustion vents in. Then HSA told me it was denied because of remodeling of my basement and it was causing a soot build-up, so it was voided.
They are weasels and bad company do not use them.
Worst experience of my home owning experience. Just frustrating.
Disgruntled customer,

Living in Las Vegas a/c is a must, we called because the house was warm. HSA sent a person out who just came in the house and shot temp readinds off the vent and told the wife that because the closet door was off and other doors were open that was why it was warm. The tech never even put gauges on the unit to check freon levels. When I called HSA back they denied the claim for repairs. I called someone else and they found unit was low on freon.
I paid extra for hot tub insurance. I had a leak that was draining the tub, I called for service. They would pay for the jets but not to get to the damaged parts. If you have a warranty on your car and a fan goes bad in the vehicle, you have to open the car door to get in the car, then you have to take the dash apart to fix the fan.
HSA indicates that is not covered, I am very disgusted with this company.
O yeah they did fix my microwave, they spent almost $500.00 to fix that when I could have bought one for $200.00.
This company is totally disfunctional.
Thank you,

We have contacted the company three times for service, two out of the three have been horriable experinces. This company should not be in business and they should inform customer that they can not cancel warranty if you pay the whole year coverage in full. They trick you to pay in full and once paid cannot be cancelled. They are the worst home warranty company out there and i'll advice you stay away from them.

The company refused to service our garage door opener because they claim it failed as a result of wear and tear. If you paid your premium in full like i did, you cannot cancel it, they keep your money. The supervisor Ben is incompetent. I paid two full years without any claims and when my AC went, the company claim the system was old and refused to service it. After that, I was done with them. Please don't be cheated by this company like I did. The better business bureau has nothing but negative things about this company. Grab $500, open your window, and throw it out. It will create the same effect as purchasing this warranty. The company provides poor service. First, their telephone response time is poor (15-30 minute waits). Second, the service people they provide are incompetent and do not fix problems effectively. Additionally, I could not understand the last service person's speech. Finally, they will find any reason possible in the fine print to deny claims. I spoke with a manager who was condescending and refused to work with me on my issues. Overall, I really would not recommend you buy a warranty from them. I am telling everyone I know about my bad experience with them. IF YOU ARE A REALTOR, PLEASE DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM. YOU WILL BE HEARING FROM THE BUYER ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS. Please read other reviews. Many people have the same sad story. I wish that I would have gone with another more reputable company. I am stuck because I did not do enough research. My advice, if you do not believe me, is to look at all the reviews posted about this company. We need better consumer protection from companies like this one.

If you are considering buying this home warranty then please consider an alternative.
