| Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights
Liberty Warranty offers a flexible plan and pricing; some plans cover home office equipments such as personal computer, printer etc. Please review the policy offering for more details

My AC unit is on the downhill slide and when I called to inform Liberty Home Protection, the maximum they would pay would be $500. It will cost $2600 for another unit and installation. I told the claims person that I was told from the sales rep that it would be replaced. The claims rep stated to me that I was incorrect and they would have never said that. I terminated my account. After doing so, I called as if to be a new customer and used the AC unit example and was told again that it would be paid for 100%. I asked to speak to a manager and was transfered to customer service. The rep from customer service offered little to help the situation and would not let me go to the next level. I WOULD CAUTION ANYONE AGAINST THIS COMPANY. READ THE FINE PRINT AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST!

I purchased Liberty without seeing this site. I have a plumbing issue in my house. We live in a town of 100,000 people in Kansas, and they have not been able to find a plumber who is willing to come to our house. The ones in our town don’t want to work with them (go figure!) and the ones in the nearby towns won’t come to our town. (makes sense because there are plenty of plumbers in our town.) Finally, after lots of wasted time on the phone, and two weeks with the plumbing issue, the representative told me I could have it fixed and they would reimburse me.
We’ll see if they do. At present, I would recommend against this company, especially if you live in a smallish town where they might have trouble finding a provider.
I called Liberty Home Protection on a Friday afternoon, (4:45 pm), due to my A/C unit not running. They told me someone would call in 4-8 “business hours”. Come to find out “business hours” doesn’t include Saturday/Sunday for an A/C repair man… Finally once they came out, my A/C unit needed the coils cleaned. This is a maintenance issue and not covered. Which I understood. However, I was charged $50.00 for the service call/deductible and $214.00 for the cleaning. Come to find out, when I contacted my usual A/C person, he indicated that a coil cleaning would be around $150.00.
Go figure, I use the people Liberty Home Protection recommends, I pay $114.00 more.
I will not renew my warranty with this company.
I had problems at rental property with AC the contractor they sent was kinda shady he was trying to get money from me and the warranty company but the warranty company found him out and they paid for the repairs, they were very helpful and the work is still not complete because the contractor didnt finish the job but they are working on trying to get the ac running to full capacity. It is working but the upstairs isnt cooling like the downstair which they promise to fix I can say I am pleasantly surprised with the company
Oh Boy!! This is a total rip off company. They not only charged me $50 from my deductible but also charged me $350/- to clean the ducts and central A/C. My local handy man told me that they usually charge $150/- and is a routine thing that they do for their customers. I was charged so much more by these rip off’s. Note: Maintainence is not part of their contract.
The problem that I have is that the company does not send reminders when your contract has expired. This presents problems because I had three contracts with them. One for my home and two for my rentals. Another situatioin is that they did not have a vendor for repair of my bathtub/spa. They paid someone over $400 to replace a motor, but it would have cost me more than an additional $350.00 for them to tear up the tile to get to the motor. My electrician came to repair the electrical circuit. At that time the spa began to work and I informed the company but they had already paid for the repair and therefore the Spa company just kept the $475.00 for a motor that was not replaced. Since, they my contract has expired. I am hoping that I can get the spa company to come and fix the two jets that are not working for the $475.00 that was paid.
First time I used the service, they were very prompt, job done, very pleased. Then AC failed, phoned and was advised that they did not have a contracted service company in the area. Phoned daily, they asked that I get my own service company, and after receiving results of problem, phone them and get approval. Phoned them 3 days in a row, and was advised they had not yet made a decision.
Reported problem, advised no company in area, get my own and phoned them with problem and repair estimate. I did and every day I phoned, was advised they had not made a decision, this was on AC repair. Very dissatisfied.
Did not get service man out after 2 weeks of phoning them.
After 2 weeks, the had not given me an answer on repair of AC.
lhp yes liberty home protection says they offer piece of mind well dont do it they have lied and strung me along for 2 months and still havent sent me the check for my furnace wonder if i will ever get it at all after they prorated it oh yeah their contract doesn’t mention proration at all but it does mention a max pay out per year of $1500 per repairs on boiler style heating systems i got $500 the new boiler cost almost $5000 i din’t buy a policy for only 10% coverage WORST COMPANY EVER.
My understanding was that they would replace a covered item if it could not be repaired.
First experience was my AC. When I phoned for claim, they advised they had no service people in area, and I could pay to have it done, and be reimbursed. When the service person phoned he could not get through. I finally purchased new unit. After writing to corporate, they agreed to pay for the previous repair quote, about 20% of the cost of the new unit. About a year later my range went out. I phoned them, they promptly sent a repair person. 2 days after arriving, he phoned to advise a part was no longer available, and Liberty would contact me within 5 days. They never contacted me, I phoned them twice a week, I was advised it was in committee for a decision, for 2 months. Finally when I called they advised me they would pay me $200. towards a new unit. The replacement unit was $1100. They advised me that they had the option of replacing the unit or giving me the marked value of the existing working unit. I was very unhappy, at the end of this term, I will change companies.
I’ve been a customer of Liberty for 2 years and evertime I placed a call, they would state that my payments were not up to date. I would have to pull my banking statement and fax it to them everytime to prove I was up to date. This is especially frustrating due to me being setup with an automatic payment. The last time I placed a call, they sent a tech out to check out my AC. When the tech called them to aprove the call, they stated it would not be approved. I asked them why and they stated that they decided to drop all coverage in Virginia and my policy was closed. They didn’t call me or send an email or anything to alert me of this they were alos still pulling the money out of my account. So, I had to pay the tech to fix my AC, stop payment to Liberty and am still waiting for a refund from them of the money they pulled for 4 months that apparently my coverage was cancelled.
I would not call this company a scam but a poor quality company…yes. I had them for a year and experienced 3 issues. It did take them a while to find service personnel to come to the house. After some investigation, this is because the service personnel need to agree to the work before they get paid (1-4 weeks later). Although, the work was done to a good quality. So after I had seen one of my quarterly payments (the 4th) for my second year of service had not been withdrawn, I called to see if there was an issue. Here is where they told me their “computer” had taken out three extra payments, and my chosen plan was not even in existence any longer. I explained my disapproval with the company after (1) not informing me of the expiration date (2) taking out payments and not noticing until I called to see what the issue was, (3) the representative could not call me back on three separate occasions as stated she would, (4) I was told a year previously that the plan would automatically renew itself, and obviously it didn’t…only the taking of my money renewed. I offered to stay with the company if they gave me some deal on my next plan. After all the company did, I was willing to let them redeem themselves. They would not even give me a small percentage off. I have just hung up the phone to receive my refund of over $200 and I was still being lied to about the female calling me this morning. I have one number on my account, there was no missed call nor voice mail on my cell…I hate being lied to!!!! (PS this chicks name was Jennifer.) I would have recommended this business a year and a half ago but now…sorry go somewhere else.
We have wasted many hours on the phone with them to resolve two seperate issues. The first was finally resolved by us finding our own repairmen through our own research. The second issue was strung out by them for 3-4 weeks. We double checked everything we were told and found out they were not always right about the information they offered. Poor quality, questionable service reps, and they will screen your claims for high cost service and will find a way not to cover it.
On Friday, we noticed our garage door spring broke and since we have Platinum Covereate with Liberty Home Protection, we attempted to call them. No matter what number we called and pressed #2 for service, the phone line comes up with a busy tone. I have tried calling over 200 times on the weekend and still have gotten this tone. What would happen if our AC was out? This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE for a warranty company. I even tried calling Saveology who apparently manages their sales and NO ONE could help. As soon as we get our garage fixed we are dumping this group because of their TERRIBLE customer service.. non-existent for the weekend!
I have been with this company for two years and each year has gotten worse. I pay in full at the first of each year and when I call for service request they tell me, that my account is not active and the nightmare begins. Several times they claimed to have straighten out the mix up, but to no avail. I am waiting for a plumber to come out now. Their solution to service request is for the customer to find and pay for the repairs out of pocket and then be reimbursed.I thought that is what I paid for them to do.. CUSTOMERS BEWARE THIS IS NOT THE COMPANY YOU CAN TRUST!!!!
I have had them for awhile now and I must admit that each time I call for service, they tell me my contract has expired though it is a monthly renewable. They also don’t seem to have providers in my area for my air system (they wound up paying me the $500 max) and my now plumbing problem (they need to locate a contractor which can take up to 48 hours!). They were very apologetic and sympathetic but that doesn’t solve my problem! I’m afraid I have to agree … BEWARE! I’m looking for a new company as I type.
