| Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights
This company is now defunct. NY Attorney General has won the lawsuit against this company. If you were a customer, you might be eligible to receive the proceedings from the settlement. For more details read the following article: NY AG wins lawsuit against National Home Protection

This company has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I had an emergency claim that was never escalated appropriately. Once the contractor they chose called it was 4 days after the original claim. The contractor never showed and then I was told by the customer service representative they were not responsible for contractors not showing. They gave me a number for the next contractor rather than making the call themselves. I feel this company is very unprofessional. I escalated my issues to management and never received a call back from them.
This organization is the cloest thing to a gang of crooks that there is in home warranty business. I threatened to sue and called the stat attorney on them to get my money back when they refused to even answer the phone or return calls when I called for service.
Customers service reps were rude. When you call you sit on hold for 30-45 minutes. When I finally did talk to someone they were short with me and explained nothing. I was referred to one company that came to my house and told me what the problem was, then I received an email from NHP about a different company handling the problem. When I called the second company he had no idea what I was talking about so I called the first company and they were still handling my claim and were going to fix the problem. The company that fixed the problem was nice and very helpful but the rude people at NHP were no help at all, sorry I bothered them, I would hate for them to have to do their jobs. I will definitely keep a home warranty but will call other companies customer service first before I choose my next one.
They yelled at me, discriminated against me calling me lady in rude terms, laughed at me, hung up on me and told me good luck and have fun with that when I said I was filing a complaint with the NY Attorney General. Denied my claim saying I didn’t take care of my a/c unit which we did. Excuse after excuse and extremely rude. They threatened to take money out of my account in excess of $300 for canceling. So with that I’ve had to cancel my checking account and credit cards and filed a fraud complaint with my bank on them. Their Home Depot gift card is a fraud too. You can find complaints all over the internet about them. Please stay away from them!
Very very bad service. Found that they canncelled the service without informing me and have not credit the account. Having a hard time to get the money back, they dont pick up the phone and when you ask about to the money, they put you on hold and slam the phone. I have spent more than few hours trying to get a rep to help.. no luck
We are a service provider for National Home Protection and we have experienced the same poor quality of customer service from this company when calling in for authorizations. We have completed approximately 25 service calls for this company and there hasn’t been one single service that has actually be authorized/approved by NHP. It is always turned down due to pre-existing conditions, poor service records, etc. We will no longer accept any calls from National Home Protection and will tell everyone we know about this company. I am sorry for all of the people who have spent their hard earned money on a warranty which is completely useless.
The biggest bunch of thieves imaginable. Rude, unrepentant LIARS who refuse to answer or return phone calls and NEVER send promised reimbursements. The initial call people are nice because they ARE AN ANSWERING SERVICE – not anyone who actually works at the FRAUD known as National Home Protection. The subhuman who routinely denies ANY submitted claim – and who continually changes his name from “Andy” to whatever – is the most obnoxious SLIMEBALL you will ever have the misfortune of dealing with. DO NOT FORK OVER A PENNY TO THIS EVIL COMPANY!
We are a contractor who performed work once for National Home Protection. It’s four months later and we ahve not been paid. This company has lied to us and has not paid a bill and is now avoiding our phone calls.
Turned out to be a complete Fraud. My AC unit needs a fan motor replaced for month and a half now. As of yet they are of no help..giving all kind of excuses. I have been calling them everyday and they keep making these empty promises like”Oh we will call you in an hour etc”. THe vendor is tired of them too.. they never call him, etc.
The operator was extremely rude..as a matter fo fact laughing at me and I could hear bunch of other ladies laughing at my phone conversation. This company must be taken to legal authorities.
National Home Protection is a fraudulent company. They deny legitimate claims and use contractors that are not properly licensed or insured. The contractor they sent to my home admitted that he has never been paid by NHP, nor has he seen them pay a claim in any of his dealing with them. NHP is not qualified to sell insurance in the state of NY, or the state of FL (where I am located). According to the state insurance offices of New York and Florida, In order to sell home warranties, a company needs to be licensed to sell insurance, which Nation Home Protection is not. They will be hearing from the proper authorities as I have reported them to the BBB, the NY District attorney, the office of insurance regulation in both FL and NY, the Internet Crime Complaint Center and the FBI Internet Fraud Division. I also reported them to be flagged by my credit card company and all three credit rating agencies.
This company is horrible. I called about 10 times and never received my warranty packet or the $50 gift card. They told me that I would get 2 free service calls but failed to explain that it would be when my policy was up for renewal 8 MONTHS from that date. So I had to pay $60 bucks.Makes no sense. My A/C went out in 90 degree weather and I have a scik 2 year old who will convulse if her body temp goes up. They were extremely slow to get the approval and technician out, promised me multiple phone calls to check in and see if the technician came. I got neither and when I called to talk to a manager he was very bland, uncaring and unresposive. I told them I wanted to cancel and they didn’t care. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life and each time I called in the wait time is always between 15-30 minutes. Unbelievable.
I called in a claim only to get referred to a string of indepedent contractors who refused to provide service. National Home Protection seemed to think it was okay for me to have to continue to follow up with contractors and come back to them for more referrals after I got turned down.
This may not be a real cmpany but it is like scam! They do anything not respond your calls and deny any legitimate coverage.
Yep, They’re worthless scammers! $50.00 gift card incentive is a scam. They denied me because I submitted for the card too early? Then I submitted two more times and was told they didnt’ have any record of the second or third submittal. Finally I was told that they would not send my card because I filed with the NY BBB.
I am new Home owner did a home inspection before purchase and everything was working. Our oven and dish washer stopped working after couple of weeks. They rejected the claim saying it is a preexisting condition with no more info.
This is a scam –this company does everything it can to avoid paying a claim from putting you on hold for 20 minutes at a time to claiming new rules that are only on their online contract–not the one they mail to you. Their employees can only read from a script unless you are talking with “a manager”–they demand more and more service background information to avoid having to really handle a claim. DO NOT EVER SEND ONE PENNY TO THIS COMPANY!!!!
Please, never use this company. They are a complete scam. I never received the $50 gift card they promised. When I did have a plumbing claim, it took the contractor three days to arrive. The plumber they fixed dropped and broke toilet and flooded my bathroom and hallway. It ruined my flooring. They vacuumed up the water, dropped off a new toilet, but refused to pay for repairs. They even insisted I pay them an additional $300 for some other repair. Same day, my A/C went out. Took days for someone to arrive. I was told I need a new unit. Faxed over maintenance records and was denied stating I did not properly maintain my unit. Your better off just not keeping a warranty. You end up paying the monthly fee for the warranty, the service fee to the contractor, and then full price of the repair when they deny it.
They are very unprofessional, uneducated and full of excuses. DO NOT USE THEM. I am canceling them today!
Do not choose these guys no matter what. Tried using this in Michigan, they have contracted with very few repair companies, and when they cannot find one, they push everything back on you.
Example: After them telling me no-one was available to come out for 2 months…so they told me to get my own. Then when I did find one, and the work was done, they would not re-imburse the repair company, so the repair company came after me. For me, we had an issue with the computer on a stove, that needed to be replaced. They ended up giving us $212 for a replacement stove (original was $800). You are better going without rather than going with this company.
Do not choose this company by no means. I’ve called to have the refrigerator fixed and came up with excuses to pay only for a portion of the problem. When I had agreed to their terms, then they decided not to fix the refrigerator at all. Their customer service is pretty poor and they put you on hold without anybody answering thier phone. I can’t imagine a company like this providing services to homeowners. I will put a claim with the NY Attorney General.
they find any reason to deny your claim. don’t waste your money on them.
I wish I had found this website BEFORE I signed on with National Home Protection. Now I am stuck with them for a year since they won’t let me out of my contract without a $250 cancellation fee. I have made 2 claims and both times the customer service was horrid. I had to call over 10 times each to get anything moving forward. In both cases, they only called me once. They paid one claim (finally) and denied the other claim. My main reason for giving them the worst rating possible is because of how much time I have had to invest to get anything done. It just shouldn’t be this difficult. Please whatever you do…don’t go with this company. I’m trapped with them until 6/24/09 (It’s on my calendar). Don’t make my same mistake.
When I tried to use my warranty for a leak I got a lot of red tape, a dishonest contractor and rough treatment from the warranty company who ultimately denied my claim (for a leaking PVC pipe!) I was able to get them to reimburse me $100 of the $425 I spent having the leak repaired on my own – but they really should have covered the entire expense – with the exception of the deductible. I will not be renewing this policy!
I have my doubts that this is even really a company. Talk about runaround. They are unprofessional, unorganized and will go to great lengths to not assist you, let alone fix your problem. Stay away from this company! They are the worst of the worst. I have had a home warranty company for the past 20 years and have never had any difficulties. Since I switched to National Home Protection, it’s been nothing but trouble. BUYER BEWARE!!!!
NHP(National Home Protection) is by far, the worst service company I have ever dealt with. They DO NOT keep their promises, their service is horrible, and they don’t pay what they promise. What lured me in was thier $50 Home Depot card, which I never got. I have had multiple experiences where the contractor’s they use have to call in for approval because the repair needed is over $100 and the poor contractor has remailed on hold endlessly, never getting through, for me to then be told to use a different contractor, given an approval #, then having to pay that contractor and then, not get reimbursed for my out-of-pocket expenses. So effectively, I’ve paid for a contract that’s useless. Additionally, they DO NOT respond to emails or faxes. This is the 1st time I have ever wasted my time writing an opinion about any vendor on the internet, but it would be irresponsible of me to not try to warn others so they don’t get caught in the same mess. This company is not reliable and does not do what they promise. Not only did they cost me a substantial amount of money, they wasted hours of my time.
They appear to be an old defunct company (which was being investigated for fraud) operating under a new name…at least according to this article:
http://www.nj.com/business/index.ssf/2008/04/warranty_firm_probed_for_fraud.html
they will find a reason not to pay. They will take your money very fast. File a claim not so fast. They will not pay. Anything you think is covered, will be not get paid for due to age or some other reason. These people are panhandlers hired off the streets and should be put out of business and in prison for fraud.
They denied my claim without properly explaning it. I never got the $50 Home Depot card they promised. When calling, they put you on hold for 30-50 minutes, and then transfer you again for another 30 minutes if you want a supervisor. They are not helpful, and will not cover a claim you put it. Do not use National Home Protection. They’re a bunch of crooks.
National home warranty is a FRAUD. Google National Home Warranty Fraud and see for yourself. They ripped me off (and thousands of others)
After over a year with this company, I submitted my first claim. Took 3 days for the tech to come out. Payed him the required amount and he started looking. Problem…pilot on heater won’t stay lit. His diagnosis, bad heat exchanger. The company promptly denied the claim. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, they would only give me the email address of their Dispute Department. I can’t get anyone from there to get back with me. Absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. They would get a 0 (zero) rating from me if it was available. This is a scam and the company is a FRAUD. Absolutely Pathetic!!!!
This is the worst company I have ever done business with. They make used car salesmen look ethical. NHP cancelled my service and still kept the money. When I disputed with the credit card they lied and said I could get a repair. When I tried to get a repair they said my warranty was cancelled. Now I am out $800 and am filing with the NY atty general to have action brought against them.
************** READ THIS************* STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY On Aug 11, 2008 I contacted someone named Jeffrey at national home protection located in the city of New York City, NY: 42 West 38th Street 8th floor suite 800 New York, NY 10018. I have two properties in the State of California that I was considering home warranties for. I wanted to know if there were discounts for multiple properties. Jeffrey told me he had special pricing for multiple homes called the “realtor pack “which was 15% off quoted prices with a 45.00 Dollar service call deduction. He told me in order to receive these discounts I had to purchase a minimum three year policy. My main concern was what the policy exclusions were. I call it a policy because that’s how national home protection advertised their service on the internet as an insurance policy. I asked if I could review the policy first and Jeffrey told me that once I purchased the policy he would immediately e-mail me a copy of the policy to review and also send me a copy through the U.S. mail that I would receive in about three days, along with 300.00 Dollars in Home Depot gift cards (50.00 per property per year) that were part of a promotional link to their web site and that I had 30 days to review the policy before it went into effect and that I could cancel at any time and keep the gilt cards, and after 30 days I could cancel with a pro-rated refund .I then gave Jeffrey my credit card number over the phone to complete the purchase. On Aug 13, 2008 I checked my e-mail and had not received the policy from Jeffrey, I did receive an e-mail from someone named Victor Hakim Sales Manager at national home protection (nhp) who offered me the same so-called “realtor pack” deal (see attachment #B) that I had just purchased from jeffrey but without the requirements that I was subjected to earlier. I now realized I had been the victim of false and misleading business practices at nhp. On Aug 18, 2008 I finally received the (2) insurance policies. In the mail from nhp and after further review found that Jeffrey misrepresented the facts about their cancellation policies and promotions (I received no home Depot card nor could I cancel the policy at anytime). He clearly committed fraud over the phone. I immediately contacted nhp and spoke to someone who refused to give her name, about cancelling the policies. I was told my request was being forwarded to a manager for review and a decision would take 72 hours then someone would call me. On Aug 20, 2008 I sent two e-mails as a reply to victor hakim about dissatisfaction with nhp and demanded a full refund. I explained that Jeffrey had not explained the terms or conditions to me as stated in their policy, and that as I looked further into their company I found out that it was common for his employees to deceive the public. Further nhp does not make assurances that the public understands their cancellation policies, nor do they provide reasonable time to review or an opportunity sign their policies. My e-mails were never answered. On Aug 20, 2008 I faxed to nhp a formal notice to cancel all policies and continued to call. All faxes were verified as received. On Aug 22, 2008 I called nhp and again spoke to someone who told me that my cancellation request was still being processed and my final call to nhp was on Aug 25, 2008 when I was told nhp will not accept my request to cancel the policies. It’s very clear based on the sampling of hundreds of complaints which I have enclosed with this letter that National home Protection engages in deceptive business practices to obtain their customers. Consider that fact that a policy that takes seven days to reach a customer via U.S. mail would be impossible to review with three day (72 hour) clause or the fact that nhp employees do not inform their customers of the importance of these conditions and assures that they fully understand them. Nhp has an extensive history of deception and fraud and has an unsatisfactory rating with every known consumer protection agency, and was doing business under the name of United Home Warranty, and are currently under criminal investigation in the state of New Jersey for consumer fraud. They have now changed their name to National Home warranty and are currently doing business in the state of New York. Their customers are being denied service for no reason, hundreds of customers never receiving their (Home Depot) promotions and cancellation requests denied. I hope this information will encourage you to do what’s necessary to protect thousands of Americans from consumer fraud and deception by National home Protection as witnessed at: 1. Complaints.com 6.Abclocal.go.com 2. Scams.com 7.The squeakwheel.com 3. My3cents.com 8.Consumeraffairs.com 4. Complaintboard.com 9.thestuccocompany.com 5. Ripoffreport.com 10.viewpoint.com
I have been contacted by the New York Attorney general’s office requesting a sworn affidavit of my complaint. This is really good news, and anyone who has not contacted the Attorney General should do so now because I think something my start to happen, and the more complaints the better. NY Attorney General (212-416-8300)
What a ripoff. This company has more fine print on what is not covered that you do not find out about untill you call. They indicated 24/7 embergency coverage. Not true on hollidays and there 4 hour call back is a lie. After many messages, no call backs. If I could get my money back I would. Do not use this company as it is a ripoff.
Al Erhart P. E.
This company DOES eventually service your home – but the headache of getting them to come out in a timely manner, not giving you your free service calls or Home Depot cards is completely aggravating. I have had this company on a rental home for two years, and am still waiting for two free Home Depot cards and a $45 refund they said they would put right in the mail – to no avail. I will NOT renew with this company. They lie – look elsewhere for your home warranty.
I used to have a policy with first american but after there lack of service no contractors available to come out i switch to national home protection and found a much better policy with the very best service anyone can ask for. i am a picky person when it comes to things like this but when reviewing there policy when i got they cover everything that makes the unit run which is something that other company just do not do plus when i spoke to Jeff Michaels (ext 7229) he knew what he was talking about and did not hesitate on anything i had a question about. All of you people do yourself a favor and go with a company that really covers claim call NHP and buy one of there policy thats one mistake you wont make
The worst service possible. Refused to honor a claim. Came up with every excuss you could imagine. They are complete theives. I paid for a 5 year contract in advance and they did handle several claims but almost every contractor that came out was a complete mess up. They have left my home in worse shape than when they came out. The last straw was when they came out for the ac unit and I was told that it needed a new coil. They asked for another company to come out and they also said that it needed to be replaced. NHP never called us back and we sat in the Texas summer heat 9in the 90′s to 100′s) for over 6 weeks….. fortunately we have 3 units in our home so we did not die but we did have sweat a bit. All I can say is that they are rude, dishonest, liars, and theives that take your money and not live up to their end of the aggreement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT SIGN UP WITH NHP! I wish I had read the other reviews for NHP before I signed up with them. I had trouble from the beginning getting the $50 Home Depot rebate offer. After submitting the “official rebate form” to them THREE times, I have never received the rebate. And trying to get a technician to fix my heater has been a nightmare. I was told by one technician that they no longer serve NHP because they have trouble getting paid. My advice to anyone is never, ever use this company. While the customer service people have been courteous on the phone and it is not their fault they work for such a shady company, the fact of the matter is that the company CEO is making a lot of money off of us and do not deliver what they promise,
THIS COMPANY IS CLEARLY A FRAUDULENT FIRM. I HAVE REQUIRED TWO SERVICE CALLS, ONE FOR MY A/C WHICH THEIR CONTACTOR WOULD NOT GET AUTHORIZATION TO FIX BECAUSE THE PIECE MAY HAVE BEEN UNDER WARRANTY AND HE WOULDN’T GET REIMBURSED. THE OTHER FOR A GARBAGE DISPOSAL. THEY GAVE ME THE NUMBER TO 7 DIFFERENT PLUMBING AND APPLIANCE COMPANIES NONE OF THEM COULD REPAIR AND/OR REPLACE. SOME OF THEM SAID THEY NEVER GET PAID FROM NHP. I STOPPED PAYMENT ON MY AMEX BUT THEY HAVE A NO CANCEL CLAUSE. I AM WRITTING TO BBB, CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND ATTORNEY GENERAL AND HOPE WE CAN CLOSE THESE CRIMINALS DOWN.
Response to Donald Walker:
I work for National Home Protection. I want to clear a few things up. First, we are not United Home Warranty. Second, we have not changed our name to National Home Warranty. Third, we are not being investigated for fraud by any government agency. Fourth, there is a link to our terms of coverage on every page of our website. Your claim that salesperson forced you to purchase prior to allowing you to see the terms is clearly untrue. Fifth, according to our records you did not call to cancel within the 30 day time frame. Sixth, you didn’t receive your home depot rebates because you disputed payment on your account.
If you have any additional questions please email me @ JBradbury@NationalHomeProtection.com
Insurance department slaps National Home Protection with cease and desist:
“After receiving complaints from homeowners, the Arizona Department of Insurance issued a cease and desist order against National Home Protection Inc.”
“This order follows on the heels of a more forceful move in Texas, where the state’s Attorney General charged the home warranty company with unlawfully doing business in Texas. The Texas AG also is seeking restitution for homeowners there who purchased the defendant’s warranties, but did not receive services promised under the contracts. In addition to homeowner restitution, Texas is seeking civil penalties under its Occupations Code and up to $20,000 for each violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act for operating without a license in the state.”

I too got duped. I signed up for a 5 year warranty and was supposed to get the 5 $50.00 Home Depot gift cards. I did everything required. No gift cards we sent. I was treated rudely by their “customer service” rep. I then called American Express about the situation with the cards. During this time I had a frig problem. I called them to get service and they said my contract was canceled, but they would not tell me who did it. When American Express asked them about the cancelation they lied and told them the account was still open. This is for Jonathan Bradbury. Your company is being investigated and sued in TX and AZ. Go to the TX attorney general’s website and you can find out for yourself. Also, they don’t allow you to do business there any more either. I have court documents to prove it. Bottom Line NHP is a scam ran by theives and con-men.
guess what i just tried to Email mr Bradbury at national home protection and it go returned. That seems odd for a wonderful company.
My name is Jonathan Bradbury, I am a claims supervisor at NHP. I can assure you that NHP is a legitimate business, here to serve our customers. Unfortunately not every claim is approved, and this leads customers to believe that the home warranty is a scam, however we help thousands of customers each year and pay millions of dollars in claims. We have many happy customers, and few unhappy customers. We would like to make the few unhappy customers happy again. Our goal is provide excellent service and give our customers the peace of mind they need in these trying times.
If you feel that your claim has been denied wrongfully please contact me at JBradbury@NationalHomeProtection.com and I will be happy to assist you in finding a resolution.
Thank you,
Jonathan Bradbury Claims Supervisor
Kent Harrison, please try my email again, as I have not had any communications problems.
Nothing I could say but theives! Wish I lived in NY to pay these assholes a visit. See the link below, they have been investigated for FRAUD!!!!!!
http://www.nj.com/business/index.ssf/2008/04/warranty_firm_probed_for_fraud.html
Jonathan Bradbury, why do so many people complain about not getting these gift cards that you offer? Why when I called to get service on a refrigerator was I told that my contract was canceled? Why did you say that NHP was not getting investigated by any government organization when the State of TX, AZ, NY, the FBI and the Ocean township of NJ are all investigating or sueing NHP? Why are so many people saying that they got ripped off by your company? If NHP is so honest why was I able to take the company to court in TN and win a judgement against it? Please enlighten us on how so many people and government agencies can be wrong about this company.
Thank you
The service from this company was a joke. They send contractors to my house that are either unqualified or refuse to do work with you because they don’t pay them. I had a minor leak in a seal for my pool pump and NHP denied the claim. No one contacted me to tell me it was denied. I only learned about it because I called in. I was then reprimanded by some guy in the call center for not calling sooner. In the meantime, the motor on the pump stopped running and I was informed that the pump motor was no longer covered because it was being run while the leak was in place. I spoke to a supervisor who was a completely abusive, telling me he was a mechanical expert and not to question his knowledge. Turns out, that according to 2 pool service companies (who have supplied me with written declaration for future use), the motor is air cooled and the breakage had nothing to do with the leak. Still, NHP was planning to use a loophole to deny coverage. Funny thing about talking with the supervisor, he told me the leak had been approved but the motor would not be covered. I called in a day later, and nothing had been approved at all according to the records on the property. He lied to me on the phone about the whole thing. In addition, the rebates that were offered never arrived for Home Depot. Needless to say, I am not surprised.
I contacted 3 lawyers in NY about my judgement against National Home Protection. All three declined to accept the case, stating that the state of NY and several other people had judgement ahead of me and NHP would just crawl back under the rock they came from when the heat got too hot. They told me that chasing my judgement would be throwing good money after bad. I guess we should get a class action together. Mr Bradbury of NHP won’t respond to the Emails that I have sent. He knows that I know he is a fraud. What a way to make money. Hopefully these swindlers will get theirs somehow. Please refute this Mr Bradbury
Do not use this company! Please don’t do it. I’m a person that reads reviews and I regard I did not before I took this company. Before I had HMS and when this way since it was a cheap deductable. Big mistake! The service visit charge is $45 and I’ve paid it 5 times and did not get what was needs fixed repaired! Today was the last draw. I had a tech come out to repair a power outlet that has to be repaired. The came flip the breaker and said my whole break box needs to be rewired! What! I have not had no problems in the past! The outlet needs repair due to water leak from a storm. The tech was lazy! Was too lazy to ask for his $45 fee though! He just did not want to do no work! Hell, he had me waiting on him for 4 weeks! At the end of me giving my input I’m canceling my service! Don’t do it!
They failed to pay most of the cost of repairing a hydronic heater, citing a “water heater exclusion” and a hydronic heating system is not a water heater. They do not pay their bills!
Ditto. lol This place is a joke. I can’t believe I left Old Republic for THIS place. Perfect example of you get what you pay for! I want to kick myself for this being the one time I did not research something! Anyway, I too got duped by the Home Depot gift card scam. I did a 3 yr contract, so 3 $50 cards were to be given. After 6 months I contacted them and they said I did not follow guidelines and they would give me $25. NO WAY! I flipped. I followed the rules to a tee! Right down to a post-it note of when to send! (90 days after start of contract). I have emailed over and over with no response.
On top of that I my AC failed. The company they sent was a JOKE. They misdiagnosed and it broke again. Long story short I got permission to hire my own company on a weekend, 115 in Vegas and a special needs child in the condo. When it came to reimbursement they said that the joke company said there were mismatched parts so they would not cover! WHAT! This was a new unit 2 yrs prior! So they said if my new company verified that they were not mismatched I would be reimbursed. This has been since September… I did finally get a hold of a supervisor who is half ass decent about emails… but now that I have faxed invoices like she wanted… nothing. Bottom line – stay the hell away! If anyone hears about law suits etc please email me! Vegassoftball@hotmail.com
I wish if you have something lower than 1. This company is a kind of fake and just money collectors, they do not care about the customers problems. I have filed the claim on March 1st, 2009 and they asigned three contractors to come down to fix my Dryer, but none of them want to come because this company does not pay their bills. I am cursing my self why I have signed up with this company.
I wish if you have something lower than 1. This company is a kind of fake and just money collectors, they do not care about the customers problems. I have filed the claim on March Nov’2008 and they asigned two contractors to come down to fix equipment, but none of them want to come because this company does not pay their bills. I am cursing my self why I have signed up with this company. Finally they promise to pay me money.I called /send email so many times but they don’t care. The VICTOR who is sales director looks fraud. They all rep attitude is rude.PLEASE DON’T GO WITH NATIONAL HOME PROTECTION INSURANCE.
I am the contractor with NHP. I am ashamed to be connected with NHP. They are Thieves. Public Get smart.
Never received Home depo gift card! Customer service reps came up with a new excuse whenever I call them. The latest one ” Your neighbor used your gift card”.. They even provided a fake neighbor name… Stay away from this firm…..
I got 2 home warranty with (NHP) 12/17/09 . Call on a claim on my dryer . could not get none of their authorized contractors to come out to look at it. All 3 were owe money from (NHP),and will not do any work for them. DO NOT PURCHASE A HOME WARRANTY for (NATIONAL HOME PROTECTION). I”m out of $713.82. AND the law suits are back up. They can not do BUSS. in Tex. With all the complaint to the Attorey General.
This company is Horrible! Not only do their customer service reps leave you on hold and hang up on your regularly but they pass you around from one person the next until you get annoyed enough to hang up. They make promises to get you to sign up with them and never follow-through. Don’t take their word for anything if you choose to go with this low-rate company. In the past year I had to use them one time…both vendors they referred me to said they would not come to my home because NHP doesn’t pay them. They advertised a $50 Home Depot gift card for new customers and I still haven’t received mine 9 months later. It’s obvious that they never intended to honor it! I’ve called a couple other companies today (looking forward to having no offiliation w/ NHP again ever, and found out they NHP has a class action law suite against them and have been aske by the attorney general to close down…but have yet to abide. STAY AWAY FROM THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!
NHP is probably a prime example of how not to do business. Infact they convinced me that I was probably a fool to have given them a chance. The inital Sales talk is all encompassing, friendly and very accomodative. Your first real NHP experience begins when an issue is not resolved with the first service call or if it involves replacement. It sets off a run around schema in pretty rude and often arrogant undertones. Contact Disputes…. Contact Claims…Contact Customer Service…Contact Accounts Payable.. Sorry, we can’t do anything here….Contact Disputes…Try Claims….and so it goes. If you prefer, you could stay amused and go through this cycle again or if you are like me, you might decide to write off the premium and call it quits. If you sincerely ache to give these guys a break stick to a monthly plan, if they offer one. Good Luck
I purchased this warranty when I bought my home. I used it for the first time 12 days ago in order to repair my garage door opener. The service provider came and said I needed a new garage door opener. He needed an authorization from National Home Protection. I payed my $60. We are STILL waiting for the authorization! I called and the customer service reps are rude. They state it is still under review. It’s a garage door opener. What is to review about it. I have left numerous emails and calls, but to no avail have I recieved a call or email nor do I have the authorization code. I am trully disappointed!
Never do business with National Home Protection. They’re thieves.
I just signed up w/NHP on 1/28/09, four units total. My washer is acting up, had a contractor come out on 3/7/09, they assessed it is cheeper to replace. I have been trying to find out status, of the claim, and they keep telling me they are waiting a call back, from the contractor, which is not even the right contractor. The original contractor, they assigned to my claim, will not do business with NHP anymore, so I called back and they gave me a new contractor. Apparently they do not update their revisions. They supposedly have contacted the original contractor, even though I advised them that it is not the contractor that actually came out, assessed the claim, and took my $45.00 check. As of today, 3/26/09,I have not gotten status on my claim, infact, when I called today, Haylee hung up on me. I called my credit card company and am disputing the monthly charges. Also, they have the impression that they cover water heaters, on their websitet, showing the available plans, under “major system plan” they have water heater checked, read their contract, “HOLDING TANKS” are not covered, that is the water heater. These guys are really tacky. I have left several messages, for a manger, good luck on getting one, or anyone to return your calls, once you sign up. My sales rep promised me two free service calls, and $50.00 Home Depot gift card, on each contract, they did not provide. Tried to contact them regarding this, no call back. If you do choose to try your luck, get EVERYTHING, in writing, before you hand out your payment info PLEASE!
I have multiple contracts. I enrolled 3 at one time and another one 2 months later. The company enticed me with a $50 gift card offer. I followed all of the rules regarding paying full year in advance and timing of sending in gift card requests and have copies of the forms. Each was sent in a separate envelope and the company acknowledged receiving them all. Now they give conflicting stories as to why they have not sent any of the 4 cards, no one will call me back. One time I was told 1 of the cards had been mailed and I should get it “any day”. Other times I’ve been told they were being reprocessed. Lately they are saying they didn’t get the forms or it was missing info which is not true. CSR’s have to send a message to management to call back, there is no direct number to the rebate department and they do not respond to my emails. I have been trying to get my cards for more than 6 mos. I was also promised 2 free service calls for the 4th contract (not on the first 3, but only my primary residence)–I tried to use the 2nd one and was denied because it had been less than 6 mos since the prior service call but there remains less than 6 mos on the contract so that means I’m ineligible to ever receive the 2nd one. The contractors who have come out for service calls (on service calls from all the houses) have all said the same thing, they do not like to work with the company because they delay paying the service people and try to find ways to deny claims that are obviously covered by the contract terms. I’ve have more than 3 contractors offer to give me referrals to other warranty companies.
Just had the contractor who replaced our garage door opener call me and say he is sorry but he has to place a lien on our home because NHP will not pay him for the job. NHP needs to be gone. They are absolute thieves and lured many to their plan by offering $50 home depot cards. They never ever intended to give out a single one of these cards. No idea why legally they have not been closed and their doors chained. CROOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it is a big bogus comapany. They denied my claim a lot of times, though it states it covers everything in plan. After cancelling the plan with them they still owe me $200 . they never send me a check. it has been two years. I left voicemail and called them a lot times. but they never refunded the money back. Everything is bad with this company. worst comapny. please don’t trust them anymore. worst company ever seen in my life.
Any one interested in using this company just type national home protection in the search engine and you will be amazed.
It took them 3 weeks to respond for my dishwasher. I ended buying another one in the interim. My contract is over this month and I’m shopping for a new provider. They rate next to AHS
Oddly enough NHP did a great job with me 2 years back regarding repairs on my washing machine and microwave. Now when I look online I am alarmed with the problems NHP is having. So my message to all is that I may have been a fluke. Now they are not even allowed to work in TX. http://www.homewarrantyreviews.com/texas-lawsuit-national-home-protection
Appliance Service Repair contractor, work for NHP 3 month and never got paid from them. This company is Horrible! this is the worst company I have ever done business with. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
This company is a scam. It is very difficult to reach the center. The staff is very unprofessional. When I file a claim, the first contractor refused to do the work because this company didn’t pay. The company refused to replace a fuse for my dryer and ask for proof that the dryer is originally in working condition. Please avoid this company. I am surprised that this company still can survive.
NY AG sues home warranty company for fraud
2 days ago
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The New York attorney general says a New York City-based home warranty company cheated customers in at least 32 states out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said Monday he has obtained a temporary restraining order against National Home Protection Inc. and three of its principals — Leo Serrur, David Seruya and Victor Hakim.
Their home warranty plans promise to repair or replace household appliances and systems if they break. Pending court action, the company can’t sell any more out of New York.
Cuomo isn’t sure how many people are affected. But he says customers often spent hundreds of dollars on a warranty but National refused to honor contracts.
The company didn’t return calls Monday.

I paid for a plumber to come to my house and was charged $65 for the visit. Turns out that it’s not covered under the protection plan and I was never informed until the plumber (Your 1 Plumber) called me a day later. Here’s the kicker, the plumber said my toilet bowl was cracked and needed to be replaced. He reseated it and figured it was the toilet bowl and was charging my $400 to replace it. Called one of my uncle and it turn out that the leak was in the water tank and not the toilet bowl. Bought a $2 sealant to fix it.
Be ready to wait a month before repairs, companies do not want to work with this company. I will never use them again.
Be ready to wait 30 days for repairs…
I signed up with this company 3 months ago. They have collected the monthly premium out of my account on the 1st of each month. My a/c compressor broke the other day. Now I discover they are a bunch of scammers. I could have gone with a different company and would not be sitting here in 100+ degree weather with no a/c. These jerks don’t realize how they affect peoples’ lives.
National Home Protection does not follow through with their promises, nor do they complete the contract agreements, and they mislead the items coverage when you do need to make a claim before you purchase the warranty coverage, so then if something does happen, you are not actually covered. They also do not complete nor pay the promotional agreements for signing up either. No matter how much you follow up you get the run around. The customer service is horrible, no matter what time of day you call or no matter what day of the week, you always have to hold for at least 15-20 minutes to speak to a live person and this is every time, and then still get horrible service, or they just bounce you around from person to person and you never get a straight answer from anyone. Then we were told that if you need to make a service repair call, someone will be at your home within 6 hours, and this is 24 hours a day. This is not true either. Their overall performance gets the lowest rating I have ever had.
Woke up on a Monday morning to water on the floor of my garage from a leaking hot water heater. Called NHP to have it looked at, they were having computer problems and couldn’t help me. Said to call back in the afternoon. I did and no answer. Called Tuesday morning and finally got a name of a plumber they approved to look at my hot water heater. He said he would be over that evening to look at it. He never showed up or called. I left the plumber a message on his phone. Wednesday morning I called the plumber again left a message. Wednesday evening I called back to NHP and let them know what was going on with the plumber, they said he is the only “approved” one in the area. I asked the lady on the phone at NHP if it was going to be a problem to get my hot water heater replaced. She said “no” in her NY accent. Thursday still no response from the plumber after numerous messages to please call me. Friday called NHP back and said that the plumber has not called me back, what can be done. I was then informed that I could get a different licensed plumber out to make an inspection and to have the plumber call them direct. Finally the next Monday, one week later, with no hot water, I was able to get a licensed plumber out to my house. I then got a call from the plumber after he spoke with NHP saying that the cost for replacing the hot water heater was not covered! I then prompted called NHP and asked what was going on that it’s not covered. The lady was very rude and said she could not “speak” with me about it only the plumber. I asked to speak with her supervisor, apparently they weren’t in, I asked when they would be because I would call back. She didn’t know…. As you can guess I continued to call all the next week everyday different times of the day until I got her supervisor. They were just as rude to me. I cancelled the policy and blocked any future monthly charges on my cc to me. Long story short they didn’t pay for anything, and I was out $900, plus the money for the policy that was no good. NEVER use National Home Protection!!
I reviewed numerous home warranty sites and decided to go with National Home Protection. The customer service representative offered an unbeatable payment option, with a below normal monthly payment and deductible. It sold me and I started the warranty. However, four months in, our refrigerator compressor failed. I contact NHP and they informed me that they did not have a contractor in my area, which was strange. I was instructed to contact a repair service of my choice and upon a completion of the diagnostics, the repair man was to call NHP to receive authorization to complete the repair, which was done. I was instructed to fax a copy of the repair invoice along with a document from NHP which depicts my account number and authorization repair number, which was done. One month later, with no reimburshment, I called NHP and was told they never received the fax. I then mailed the same documents via certified mail. One monthe later, I called again and was told they did receive the documents and I should be receiving reimburshment within the week. Two weeks later, I called again and was told a message would be sent to “accounts payable” to resolve my issue. One week later, I began calling and I immediately placed on hold for approximatley two to three minutes after which a out-going message states that my call is being answered by “ACP anwering service”. I have left over twenty voice-messages for a return call and I have even sent over twenty emails, with no responses. On one email, I threatened to contact the New York Attorney General. I’ve had enough, I’ve placed a block on my bank account to not allow NHP to withdraw my monthly premium. In short, I am out over $900 for the repair and approximately $200 in premiums. It obvious; National Home Protection is a complete SCAM.
The worse company that i had to ever deal with. The claim was open for more than 3 weeks and no one came for repair and they assigned 5 Technician but I was told by each one of them that they had problems with the NHP. We Will never do business with them again. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!
This is the worst Home Warranty Co in existance. I’ve had them for 2 years. After extending my policy for a second year, my AC went out in the middle of the summer. Called in my claim, did not get someone until the next day. They said the problem was pre existing and it was not covered, the company that came out said that we needed a new unit, and gave me an estimate for them to replace it. I had been burning up for a week when I called someone else to look at it and all it needed was freon. In December I had a pipe to bust in the ceiling of my garage, water was everywhere. Filed my claim it was denied. They said they do not cover galvanized pipes. I told them that the contract did not state that. They were rude, would not let me speak with a supervisor. I filed a complaint with the BBB here in Houston where I live, eventually it was closed because they (NHP)never responded to it.
This company is a scam. They gave me a claim # and I called a Tech to come out. He did and found that the control panel on a dishwasher was blown. They could not an authorization from NHP and no one would return their calls. I called 16 times and could not get to anyone that could answer a question. I emailed them with no response. I faxed them but the fax numbers had been disconnected. They are a scam. I have contacted the attorney general and am still waiting. Meanwhile I paid for the waranty, I paid the copay to the tech, and now I have to buy a new dishwasher
No answer at any of the phone numbers, fax disconnected. Fraudulent company. Disputed credit card charges as frudulent. DO NOT USE THEM!
I contracted over the internet for this companies services and have yet to hear anything from them. They sent an email telling me my rate and to email them or call. I have called numerous times and have never reached anyone and no one has ever returned my calls or emails. I wiil cancel my policy.
NHP DOES NOT PAY THEIR SERVICE PEOPLE……..05/27/09 THEIR PHONES DO NOT ANSWER, FAX ALSO….
horrible everything, they will take your money and then you can never get i touch with them again ;-(
I had 2 issues since I have had my policy in effect. The first one has been ongoing since 5/08. The 2nd issue was something that I decided since the repair person couldn’t find a problem, I just paid the $300 to purchase a new dishwasher and canceled my service call. The main issue I have with them is that I had called about my air conditioner in May in south Louisiana. Yes it was getting hot by then… The repair person who came out after 3 days, was very nice and the people in their office were also very nice. They told me I needed freon and nicely filled up my freon. I then spoke to them and they stated that I would need to have a leak test done on my own dime per the home warranty company. I did that and a leak was found. I submitted that documentation to the company. The adjuster contacted me and stated he needed service records. I said I have lived here less than a year, I will see what I can do and would an inspection report do if I could find that. He stated yes and I then found a service inspection from August of 2007. I sent that in and was told my claim was denied because I only had one inspection and it was over 6 months old. I basically needed one every 6 months. I had never heard of this and couldn’t find it in my policy. I asked to speak to his supervisor and was told he didn’t have one. He called me a liar and was basically rude to me. I then contacted the disputes center and received no contact until about 3 months later after I threatened to contact BBB and wanted a refund. I then heard back from a person and had contact with her. Found out what else was necessary and have since sent it all in month ago. I have not received any information from anyone and have been e-mailing for over 2 months to both the person I was dealing with via e-mail and the main disputes e-mail address. I have also now filed a complaint with the BBB and see that they have a large amount of no-response claims against them. DO NOT EVER PURCHASE A HOME WARRANTY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! They will take your money, lie to you, call you a liar, and then not respond.
No one answers the phone. They don’t respond to online service requests.
I put in one claim in 11 months and was emailed a name of a company that has never worked for NHP, in fact, had never even heard of them. When I tried to contact NHP by phone, leaving several messages, and by email, leaving over 20 messages, I received no response whatsoever. It was like the company did not exist. It has been 5 weeks now and still no response. Do NOT get a warranty from this company. Like others have said, NHP is a scam. To protect others I reported them to the BBB and Attorney General in NY and Colorado. I paid almost $400. all up front for the year and got no service at all, not even a response back to my numerous messages. In today’s economy no one wants to lose their hard earned money. Live and learn I guess.
We have been calling, and emailing NHP since last Wednesday the phone rings continuesly until it rings busy.No one has attempted to respond to many attempts to reach them. I don’t know what to do like many others we just don’t have the money to make repairs exactly the reason we purchased the warranty. If any one has been sucessful with getting through lately please share Thanks
We thought National Home Protection was a good company until we called them this year. This year their phone line is busy all the time. We have tried to email them and send a fax, but no answer. I have been reading reviews about different Home Warranty companies, because we (my wife and i) want to get a new company, but all the reviews are bad except for that company that only services Colorado. Anyway, that’s it I guess the best thing to do is just save up your money and hope for the best, and that none of your appliances break.
Also if anyone can get in touch with the President of the United States or with Congress tell them that those home warranty companies in New York are all a bunch of scammers. Maybe we can send the Marines over there and bomb the heck out of them.
I have tried now for 3 days to get them to answer their phone and email. My paper work says they can be reached 24/7. Their webb site now says Mon.-Fri 10-5. I have just cancelled their auto deduction on my credit card. This company as far as I am concerned has stolen my money and everone else. Any suggustions how they can be stopped?
They dont answer the phone it is busy or it will ring then goes to a busy signal. They dont respond to email. They are excellent at charging your credit card for there monthly dues. I guess I wont have my home issue problem resolved by them since they dont respond. Basically, if you want to pay for no service then these guys are for you.
They are a total sham. I’ve been calling for weeks to check on the status of things and they have stopped answering their phones! Don’t waste your money!
First of all, Let it be stated that I MAnage a Lcensed, Insured Plumbing Service in Northern Va. near Dulles Airport. We had done a number of jobs for National Home Protection. Not only did they fail to pay for any of our services, they Performed Fraudulant Acts on a number of their paying customers.
After witnessing such and not ever recieving funds for services rendered, I LET YOU HEAR THE TRUTH…
T Plumber
Up until this year I thought the company was doing a good job. Whenever I called they sent a repair man out within 2 days. Then this year April,2009 my washing machine stop working. This happen on a Friday night, I signed up on line, never got a response, then I started calling, after about 3 days I finally got someone. The first people I was referred to told me they stop doing business with them, that should have set off a red flag for me, but it didn’t. Then I called back and they gave me a number to another company. They came out and told me that it would cost less to buy another washer than to fix it. The repair me then told me that he would get in touch with NHP. After a week he called me back and told me that he had been trying to get in touch with with them and he could not. I started calling and when I finally reached them they claim that they had been trying to reach the repair man and they could not. To make a long story short I kept getting the run around from them and the serviceman told me that he had did a number of other jobs for them and he was still waiting to be paid. For about 3 weeks I left message after message and when I finally got someone all they would tell me is that my claim was with the authorization department. Now all I get is a busy signal. As of May 14 I cancelled the policy. I also purchased my own washing machine. I had been with them 4 years.
the worst company i never see in my life. They owe me $180, but they did not send me the check, though it has been two years, i left a lot of times messages, contacted customer service, noone replied nor processed the transaction. It is big bogus company, they always denies the claims, don’t go with this company. They contract agreement does not cover all items. Everthing is bogus, a big scam. Don’t get deceived by this company like me. I purchased a home warranty plan with this company with out knowing any details of this company. It is in newjersey. I wonder whether the company really exists in newjersey. everything is pretty bad with this company.
Crooks Watch out HVAC Contractors they dont pay there bills
DFW Contractor
Company is out of business. Secretary of State (NY) has frozen company’s accounts and filed a fraud lawsuit.
This company is pretty much unreachable…waste of money and time.
I have been fighting a problem for over one year. I have sent them all the additional information they requested and was even told it was approved for payment and the check would be sent. They do not respond to emails or phone calls. I even sent a letter to the president with no response. STAY AWAY
Actually I wanted to share that at least they returned my money… I filed a claim thru Amex since my recent repair complaints were not honored and I did not even get those ‘gift cards’… Anyways..I would suggest for those of you who have the same issues as mine… please contact your credit card issuer … Good Luck!
Don’t waste your time trying to contact this company. File report with BBB and Attorney General of your state and ask to be placed in class action law suit against NHP. Remember anyone working for this company knows what is happening and they, especially the president, are laughing at you. If you get the chance, give them my full appreciation for their lack of concern. I HOPE SOMEDAY i CAN REPAY THEM ALL.
WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DELT WITH. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND IT TO MY WORST ENEMY
When I first got this company (Feb 07), I immediately used their services on my fridge. No problems. 6 months later, my A/C went out during the 90 degree heat. I called to make a claim, and the repairman they sent out said my A/C was broken, but it should DEFINITELY be covered by the warranty. Surprise surprise, NHP disagreed with the repairman THEY sent out. Why don’t they trust the judgment of the repairman they selected? Needless to say, I ended up paying out of pocket to fix it. I haven’t had any issues with my house since then until now. My garbage disposal quit working, and guess who isn’t answering their phones…NHP.
I prepaid for a 3 year policy. I am just counting that up as a wash. Oh, and I never got the free Home Depot gift cards that was promised either. I guess I got duped.
still am waiting on reimbursement for 11/26/08 claim on pool filter. the work was approved, however i had to pay the pool company up front because NHP did not have a pool contractor in our area. I was told to submit the bill. Then the dance began. I was told i had to fax maintence records before i could be reimbursed. We had lived in the house less than a year so the pool company was good enough to give me any records then had for the past 3 years. Still waiting to be reimbursed. They were very verbally abusive on the phone. Told me it was not approved work, however i had the claim number and person who gave approval-as did the folks at the pool company. Was told all of us were lying. Gave a call every month just for fun, but in May the calls stopped being answered. Now we have an AC issue, no phone calls are going thru and the 2 emails have not been replied to. Any idea if there is a class action against these losers? I’m on board.
was just searching and found this:
NATIONAL HOME PROTECTION (NHP) SUED BY NEW YORK STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL ANDREW CUOMO.On APRIL 27, 2009 Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo announced that his office has filed suit against National Home Protection, Inc. and three principals, Leo Serrur, David Seruya and Victor Hakim in New York Supreme Court in Manhattan. To Ensure Restitution for defrauded Consumers, Court Freezes Company and Principal Assets. If you have been “RIPPED OFF” by NHP, IMMEDIATELY go to this Website http://www.oag.state.ny.us and file a complaint.GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! This is a start, it could take years of litigation before this is settled, but we’re on our way!! Report Abuse
These people rip off there customer’s and Service people. I have 5 invoice’s that have never been paid, going on 2.5 years now.
I own an appliance company in CA and have given up trying to collect from this company for the past 2 years.
I have recently mail a letter to the Attorney General’s office. I took out a 5 year policy with this company. First claim or two, all was fine. They sent out service person, I paid my copay and all was good. Since February, 2009, I have not been able to contact them. I purchased a five year plan which was supposed to also include my roof. Well, long story short, since February I have had to replace my garbage disposal, dishwasher, and central air/heat all at my expense. Also, I never received the $250 in Home Depot gift cards I was supposed to receive.
If there was a 0 rating this company would receive it from me. They took my money and when I had a problem with a covered item , they denied it. It took me approximately one week to get in touch with them (because “their computer was down ‘ . They promised to call me, but never did. Then they assigned a contractor that told me he doesn’t service my area. Another contractor came out and when he called them to get approval for the broken item, they denied the claim. I had to get it fixed myself. Now some four months later, their phone is disconnected.
I placed a call to the company and had a technician come out (same day)to give an estimate for the repair. He tried calling them to get an authorization # to complete the work but was unable to get an answer. I was unable to get an answer from the company from that point on. Since that time, I have learned that there are two lawsuits against them. One from the state of NY and the second in TX. They are not (and apparently never were)licensed to do business in the state of Texas. We prepaid on a 3 year contract (and also never received our Home Depot cards!) Since approx 1 1/2 years had passed since we took out the policy, we were issued a refund for the remainder of the plan by our credit card company. We also joined a class action lawsuit here in Texas.
They are the worst company I ever signed with. I gave them all the documents they asked for when my A/C went off and they kept on dragging the case for 3 months just to dispute my claim although I had my machine serviced twice a year and I played everything by their rule but , what can I say, that are a shame on the industry
I also got scammed by this company in May ’07. Had to replace my a/c on my own as they denied claim. Same thing sent records etc., they said had a pre existing condition. 100 degree weather what else could I do. Reason I am posting is NYS atty. general has closed the case, you must file on your own. Was told that today when I called. Woman said there was nothing else left, so we are all probably out of luck.
When i signed with this company for three years, they promised me with a $50 gift certificate from Home Depot. I never got this certificate after mailing all the required documents. When I’m trying to contact them, no luck and nobody can be reached. When i made my complaint to BBB they refer me to NY Attorney General’s office where I filed my complains. Later i found out thay NY AG sued this company and won a $900,000 suit to be paid to the customers. I should get all my money back since i never call and get any service and for all the hasstle and lies they made. This company should payback all the costumers regardless if they did or not call for service. $900,000 is not enough to give back to costumers.
No rating, just wanted to say this company is being sued by the state of Texas. Thought ya’all should know that.
i do work for them now ( well actually they never approve any work. lol they are a scam they don’t pay the contractors and they hide under different names across the country . like they go by cross country and others. they want the contractors to deny everything and they don’t want to pay the contractors anything. what a scam ! BEWARE BUYER DO NOT GO WITH THIS HOME WARRANTY THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN !!!!!!
