| Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights

Any one interested in using this company just type national home protection in the search engine and you will be amazed.
it is a big bogus comapany. They denied my claim a lot of times, though it states it covers everything in plan. After cancelling the plan with them they still owe me $200 . they never send me a check. it has been two years. I left voicemail and called them a lot times. but they never refunded the money back. Everything is bad with this company. worst comapny. please don’t trust them anymore. worst company ever seen in my life.
Just had the contractor who replaced our garage door opener call me and say he is sorry but he has to place a lien on our home because NHP will not pay him for the job. NHP needs to be gone. They are absolute thieves and lured many to their plan by offering $50 home depot cards. They never ever intended to give out a single one of these cards. No idea why legally they have not been closed and their doors chained. CROOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have multiple contracts. I enrolled 3 at one time and another one 2 months later. The company enticed me with a $50 gift card offer. I followed all of the rules regarding paying full year in advance and timing of sending in gift card requests and have copies of the forms. Each was sent in a separate envelope and the company acknowledged receiving them all. Now they give conflicting stories as to why they have not sent any of the 4 cards, no one will call me back. One time I was told 1 of the cards had been mailed and I should get it “any day”. Other times I’ve been told they were being reprocessed. Lately they are saying they didn’t get the forms or it was missing info which is not true. CSR’s have to send a message to management to call back, there is no direct number to the rebate department and they do not respond to my emails. I have been trying to get my cards for more than 6 mos. I was also promised 2 free service calls for the 4th contract (not on the first 3, but only my primary residence)–I tried to use the 2nd one and was denied because it had been less than 6 mos since the prior service call but there remains less than 6 mos on the contract so that means I’m ineligible to ever receive the 2nd one. The contractors who have come out for service calls (on service calls from all the houses) have all said the same thing, they do not like to work with the company because they delay paying the service people and try to find ways to deny claims that are obviously covered by the contract terms. I’ve have more than 3 contractors offer to give me referrals to other warranty companies.
I just signed up w/NHP on 1/28/09, four units total. My washer is acting up, had a contractor come out on 3/7/09, they assessed it is cheeper to replace. I have been trying to find out status, of the claim, and they keep telling me they are waiting a call back, from the contractor, which is not even the right contractor. The original contractor, they assigned to my claim, will not do business with NHP anymore, so I called back and they gave me a new contractor. Apparently they do not update their revisions. They supposedly have contacted the original contractor, even though I advised them that it is not the contractor that actually came out, assessed the claim, and took my $45.00 check. As of today, 3/26/09,I have not gotten status on my claim, infact, when I called today, Haylee hung up on me. I called my credit card company and am disputing the monthly charges. Also, they have the impression that they cover water heaters, on their websitet, showing the available plans, under “major system plan” they have water heater checked, read their contract, “HOLDING TANKS” are not covered, that is the water heater. These guys are really tacky. I have left several messages, for a manger, good luck on getting one, or anyone to return your calls, once you sign up. My sales rep promised me two free service calls, and $50.00 Home Depot gift card, on each contract, they did not provide. Tried to contact them regarding this, no call back. If you do choose to try your luck, get EVERYTHING, in writing, before you hand out your payment info PLEASE!
Never do business with National Home Protection. They’re thieves.
I purchased this warranty when I bought my home. I used it for the first time 12 days ago in order to repair my garage door opener. The service provider came and said I needed a new garage door opener. He needed an authorization from National Home Protection. I payed my $60. We are STILL waiting for the authorization! I called and the customer service reps are rude. They state it is still under review. It’s a garage door opener. What is to review about it. I have left numerous emails and calls, but to no avail have I recieved a call or email nor do I have the authorization code. I am trully disappointed!
NHP is probably a prime example of how not to do business. Infact they convinced me that I was probably a fool to have given them a chance. The inital Sales talk is all encompassing, friendly and very accomodative. Your first real NHP experience begins when an issue is not resolved with the first service call or if it involves replacement. It sets off a run around schema in pretty rude and often arrogant undertones. Contact Disputes…. Contact Claims…Contact Customer Service…Contact Accounts Payable.. Sorry, we can’t do anything here….Contact Disputes…Try Claims….and so it goes. If you prefer, you could stay amused and go through this cycle again or if you are like me, you might decide to write off the premium and call it quits. If you sincerely ache to give these guys a break stick to a monthly plan, if they offer one. Good Luck
This company is Horrible! Not only do their customer service reps leave you on hold and hang up on your regularly but they pass you around from one person the next until you get annoyed enough to hang up. They make promises to get you to sign up with them and never follow-through. Don’t take their word for anything if you choose to go with this low-rate company. In the past year I had to use them one time…both vendors they referred me to said they would not come to my home because NHP doesn’t pay them. They advertised a $50 Home Depot gift card for new customers and I still haven’t received mine 9 months later. It’s obvious that they never intended to honor it! I’ve called a couple other companies today (looking forward to having no offiliation w/ NHP again ever, and found out they NHP has a class action law suite against them and have been aske by the attorney general to close down…but have yet to abide. STAY AWAY FROM THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!
I got 2 home warranty with (NHP) 12/17/09 . Call on a claim on my dryer . could not get none of their authorized contractors to come out to look at it. All 3 were owe money from (NHP),and will not do any work for them. DO NOT PURCHASE A HOME WARRANTY for (NATIONAL HOME PROTECTION). I”m out of $713.82. AND the law suits are back up. They can not do BUSS. in Tex. With all the complaint to the Attorey General.
Never received Home depo gift card! Customer service reps came up with a new excuse whenever I call them. The latest one ” Your neighbor used your gift card”.. They even provided a fake neighbor name… Stay away from this firm…..
I am the contractor with NHP. I am ashamed to be connected with NHP. They are Thieves. Public Get smart.
I wish if you have something lower than 1. This company is a kind of fake and just money collectors, they do not care about the customers problems. I have filed the claim on March Nov’2008 and they asigned two contractors to come down to fix equipment, but none of them want to come because this company does not pay their bills. I am cursing my self why I have signed up with this company. Finally they promise to pay me money.I called /send email so many times but they don’t care. The VICTOR who is sales director looks fraud. They all rep attitude is rude.PLEASE DON’T GO WITH NATIONAL HOME PROTECTION INSURANCE.

Ditto. lol This place is a joke. I can’t believe I left Old Republic for THIS place. Perfect example of you get what you pay for! I want to kick myself for this being the one time I did not research something! Anyway, I too got duped by the Home Depot gift card scam. I did a 3 yr contract, so 3 $50 cards were to be given. After 6 months I contacted them and they said I did not follow guidelines and they would give me $25. NO WAY! I flipped. I followed the rules to a tee! Right down to a post-it note of when to send! (90 days after start of contract). I have emailed over and over with no response.
On top of that I my AC failed. The company they sent was a JOKE. They misdiagnosed and it broke again. Long story short I got permission to hire my own company on a weekend, 115 in Vegas and a special needs child in the condo. When it came to reimbursement they said that the joke company said there were mismatched parts so they would not cover! WHAT! This was a new unit 2 yrs prior! So they said if my new company verified that they were not mismatched I would be reimbursed. This has been since September… I did finally get a hold of a supervisor who is half ass decent about emails… but now that I have faxed invoices like she wanted… nothing. Bottom line – stay the hell away! If anyone hears about law suits etc please email me! Vegassoftball@hotmail.com
They failed to pay most of the cost of repairing a hydronic heater, citing a “water heater exclusion” and a hydronic heating system is not a water heater. They do not pay their bills!
Do not use this company! Please don’t do it. I’m a person that reads reviews and I regard I did not before I took this company. Before I had HMS and when this way since it was a cheap deductable. Big mistake! The service visit charge is $45 and I’ve paid it 5 times and did not get what was needs fixed repaired! Today was the last draw. I had a tech come out to repair a power outlet that has to be repaired. The came flip the breaker and said my whole break box needs to be rewired! What! I have not had no problems in the past! The outlet needs repair due to water leak from a storm. The tech was lazy! Was too lazy to ask for his $45 fee though! He just did not want to do no work! Hell, he had me waiting on him for 4 weeks! At the end of me giving my input I’m canceling my service! Don’t do it!
I contacted 3 lawyers in NY about my judgement against National Home Protection. All three declined to accept the case, stating that the state of NY and several other people had judgement ahead of me and NHP would just crawl back under the rock they came from when the heat got too hot. They told me that chasing my judgement would be throwing good money after bad. I guess we should get a class action together. Mr Bradbury of NHP won’t respond to the Emails that I have sent. He knows that I know he is a fraud. What a way to make money. Hopefully these swindlers will get theirs somehow. Please refute this Mr Bradbury
The service from this company was a joke. They send contractors to my house that are either unqualified or refuse to do work with you because they don’t pay them. I had a minor leak in a seal for my pool pump and NHP denied the claim. No one contacted me to tell me it was denied. I only learned about it because I called in. I was then reprimanded by some guy in the call center for not calling sooner. In the meantime, the motor on the pump stopped running and I was informed that the pump motor was no longer covered because it was being run while the leak was in place. I spoke to a supervisor who was a completely abusive, telling me he was a mechanical expert and not to question his knowledge. Turns out, that according to 2 pool service companies (who have supplied me with written declaration for future use), the motor is air cooled and the breakage had nothing to do with the leak. Still, NHP was planning to use a loophole to deny coverage. Funny thing about talking with the supervisor, he told me the leak had been approved but the motor would not be covered. I called in a day later, and nothing had been approved at all according to the records on the property. He lied to me on the phone about the whole thing. In addition, the rebates that were offered never arrived for Home Depot. Needless to say, I am not surprised.
Jonathan Bradbury, why do so many people complain about not getting these gift cards that you offer? Why when I called to get service on a refrigerator was I told that my contract was canceled? Why did you say that NHP was not getting investigated by any government organization when the State of TX, AZ, NY, the FBI and the Ocean township of NJ are all investigating or sueing NHP? Why are so many people saying that they got ripped off by your company? If NHP is so honest why was I able to take the company to court in TN and win a judgement against it? Please enlighten us on how so many people and government agencies can be wrong about this company.
Thank you
Nothing I could say but theives! Wish I lived in NY to pay these assholes a visit. See the link below, they have been investigated for FRAUD!!!!!!

Our goal is provide excellent service and give our customers the peace of mind they need in these trying times.

guess what i just tried to Email mr Bradbury at national home protection and it go returned. That seems odd for a wonderful company.
I too got duped. I signed up for a 5 year warranty and was supposed to get the 5 $50.00 Home Depot gift cards. I did everything required. No gift cards we sent. I was treated rudely by their “customer service” rep. I then called American Express about the situation with the cards. During this time I had a frig problem. I called them to get service and they said my contract was canceled, but they would not tell me who did it. When American Express asked them about the cancelation they lied and told them the account was still open. This is for Jonathan Bradbury. Your company is being investigated and sued in TX and AZ. Go to the TX attorney general’s website and you can find out for yourself. Also, they don’t allow you to do business there any more either. I have court documents to prove it. Bottom Line NHP is a scam ran by theives and con-men.
