| Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights
Note: This company may have sold warranties using the brand name Champion Home Warranty

This company uses sub-standard service companies who have never repaired anything in my home on the first visit. When making a complaint about the service companies used, Nations Home Warranty did not make any attempts to make things right. Their phone reps simply “made a note” of my complaint. I’ve been highly disappointed since switching from AHS. I wanted to keep my business local, but in doing so, I’m left having the same items repaired a year later and being told that the previous service person didn’t do what they should have done.
I found StateWide Warranty on line and was sold by the simple statement that they have a 24/7 claims center. My 2 previous home warranty companies could not beat that. I recently had 3 service calls within 1 month. In each instance, the breakdown occurred after 3 in the afternoon and on a Sunday. With each request I spoke with Jeffrey Kinsley and I was thrilled that I could call my own repair company out and have repairs done immediately With There preffered technician program instead of waiting for someone to show up that I did not know and not knowing when. Each of the repairs were immediately approved and I promptly received reimbursement less my deductibles. Keep it this easy and I’m keeping State Wide Warranty!!
I had the exact same experience as reported by Jane Sullivan. Going through the BBB and the whole settlement process to receive nothing other than they are no longer in business in the State of New York.
Thanks Jane Sullivan, I will contact your attorney and add my compliant to the list.
This company was hard to reach when needed, but they said they had offices all over the USA. Well when we couldn’t reach them, we had the New York Better Business Bureau run a check on them and after a few emails with our claim, we found out that they actually out of business. The NY BBB gave them a triple F rating I think. Don’t use them.
This company should be ued for the Rip-off policy they provide. I purchased 3 rental policies from at same time. Each time a claim was filed found loop holes to not pay. Customer service is lousy, they are rude and condescending. They promised to pay part of my money back I won a complaint, but they never paid. Atty General says they only will become involved on class-action lawsuit level. Sucks
I had this problem with Nationwide last year. Where is our Attorney Generals when we file complaints against a business?? I filed with the State of New York and also Texas. I wanted my money back from Nationwide’s “so called” warranty. To this day, nothing. Please, please, if you don’t want to “throw your money in the wind” avoid at all cost this company.
We were a vendor for this Company (we are also ashamed to admit it). FYI…………. The same people also own Champion Home Warranty. When you compare the websites they are exact right down to the spelling errors. We quit working for them when we could not reach them regarding payment on 4 invoices. We have already wrote the cost off as uncollectable. We sent each customer that we did work at a copy of the Invoice for their records and advised the customers to cancel their contracts, cancel payments and everything due to their illegal activities. If we could collect that would be awesome, but unfortunately scammers get away with an amazing amount of sh*t.
We repaired two air conditioners in 2007 and 2008. The customer got great service, but we never got paid for our work and materials used from National Home Protection. Why do we as consumers and service agents get riped off by these middle, when we are the end users or servicers?
Terrible company. Got FREE with home purchase at closing but will not renew our contract with them. Our A/C unit went out and we were sent some po-dunk Element Mechanical Contractor Company that replaced the unit and the unit was still not cooling. After 3 calls to their contractor we were told if we called again we would be charged an additional fee for them to fix the problem. Are you kidding me? Their crappy work should leave us having to pay more to them. So we went to a high end A/C company, paid $900 more, but at least we have it working now.
When it came time to renew the coverage, I got a call from Nations Home Warranty explaining the situation and why I may not renew. Rather then trying to keep a customer and make the situation right, the lady simply said, “Well, let us know what you decide.”
So long Nations Home Warranty. Crap company. Do not waste your time. Do your research. There are better companies with better prices and much more professional.
i am a customer and need a phone number besides 888.500.2110 to reach you as i need service, when i call that number all they do is talk about a promtion and if you’re not interested it disconnects.. my cell is 702.592.9922 PLEASE CALL US, THANKS
My home in NJ needed a water heater repair. The cost was $1000 and the company personnel were rude and irresponsible from Nationwide Home Warranty. After several calls and emails, they did not take care of the job. We repaired and fixed our water heater. I asked for refund of the 3 year contract $1349 and they have not refunded yet. I contacted BBB and have complaint number 8090702. BBB did not respond yet and resolve this matter. I am trying reach FTC and file a complaint. Is there a national public law suit against this company? They deserve a court case and refund public money. We should not let such fraud’s flourish in US.
I have had exact same situations as all people on here. I purchased warranty for a new home I bought in October 2009, a few months later they paid for a minor garbage disposal claim. In May 2010 (I had paid for the whole year upfront), my air conditioner went out. That is when they came up with this, sorry we no longer service Indiana. Hah! I said, I have a contract with you! They gave me the run around for a couple of weeks, but since it was 90 degrees out, I ended up getting it fixed on my own. They told me they would pro rate my refund, but that never happened. I filed with New York State Attorney General and the BBB. Nothing happened with that either. Thank you Jane Sullivan, as I just left a message with your attorney because I would very much like to participate in the lawsuit and will help in any way!
I won’t bore you with the details of my dealings with this company other than to tell you that I spent over a year trying to get my dryer fixed/replaced as stated in their contract. After I found out the real address and owners’ names and threatented to take them to court did I receive a phone call from their Claims Manager who promised to repair my garbage disposal (also took a year to get done) and to settle on my dryer for $500. They sent me the Settlement Agreement to sign and notarize which I did. After sending it to them three times and getting their typical BS run around, I still have nothing but the paper it is written on. Since that time I have found out that they are closing many of their offices because, as I also found out, they do not have a license to practice in that state. Florida being one of those states. I have recently renewed my quest against them and have found that their website no longer exists and none of the phone numbers I have are in working order. HA!
I have since contacted an attorney’s office that handle class action lawsuits. PLEASE contact them. They are Cuneo, Gilbert & LaDuca LLP. Go online and look them up. Give them your information.
Thank you.
I and mny management company tried calling National Home Warrant for one week to service my rental property. When I finally got through, the person was rude and told me I had to wait 24 hours for service. I have written emails, letters, etc. and never received a response from the company to refund my money. I paid for 5 years and have nothing from this company. This company is a scam!
Doed anyone have a working # for these peaple. They owe my company thousands for doing repairs.I need my $
Unfortunately, I’ve had the same problems trying to reach them via phone and email. I paid for 3 years up front in order to get the best price, (hah). I’ve had my Viking refridge/freezer leaking and needed to file a claim.
Any suggestions on getting these people would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve experienced the same non-existent service as the other reviews. I purchased a warranty for both my home and my mothers. I had one small claim that they paid. When my mother had a claim, the emailed me that they no longer cover the State of South Carolina. I’ve tried to contact them but no phone service. I’ve sent and email back to the one that told me that coverage no longer avialable. They said they would refund unused portion in July 2010. It is now November and no refund. I tried to turn them into the Better Business Bureau but without an address they can do nothing. I contacted a government site that handles scams and reported them, but the process will be tedious and time consuming even if they can locate the so called company. Please, please, no one use this company.
they do not cover any thing they just get the money you can’t get the hold of them. they are teif stelling peaple money but no service
Unfortunately, a ‘poor’ rating is too good for this company. It is a major scam and I have no idea how the State of New York allows this operation to continue. Thank the Lord I only purchased a one year warranty. I have experience with some good warranty companies, so I know this is a scam. You can’t reach them by phone, they don’t respond to e-mails and their web site in non functional. They refused to agree to standard plumbing repairs, they have no real office and even our plumber called us a week ago, looking for working phone number for Nationwide while he was trying to work a claim by another poor sucker that had insurance with this company. I contacted BBB, State Consumer Affairs office, but there’s nothing they can do since the office is out of State and for all intents and purposes doesn’t even exist!
I purchased a home warranty from Nationwide Home Warranty in October 2009. When my air conditioner failed in July 2010 I called and called and never could speak with anyone at Nationwide Home Warranty. I received a recorded message directed me to their web site. I sent messages which were never returned. My advise to anyone considering this company would be to buy elsewhere. I have filed a complaint with Georgia;s Governor’s Office of Consumer Affairs. They forwarded a copy of my complaint to the Office of the Attorney General – New York City Office. I assume this is where this company is located.
Paid for a contract then found out they no longer service Nj. no phone #,Customer service, I requested by email they send email for refund, A letter, email or refund has not been received and it’s over 30 days. If you are reading this, tell them to call you back then ignore them. Service was also very bad ie. calls were not returned and they are slow to respond. This is the worst of all companies out there. hear is the emailDear, loyal customer, we regret to inform that we no longer offer coverage in your area. A pro rated refund for the unused portion of your premium will be refunded back to you. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Terminated my policy midyear without notice yet never notified me and continued to cash m checks monthly for entire policy term and refuses to refund anything. these guys are crooks. Stay away!!!!!!
Last winter my furnace stop working. I called Nationwide to request service. They gave me the name of a service company to schedule the repair. This company didn’t have any available opening for 2 weeks. That sound suspicious. Then I called NHW to request a different service company because I could not live in Michigan without heathing. NHW told me that they didn’t have any other one but I could call anyone, pay for the service and get reinburstment. And I did so. BIG MISTAKE, I never got my money back from Nationwide. That is how they steal. Be aware of this company. DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT WITH NATIONWIDE. You will loose money and time…..
the first year I used this company they did at least answer complaints after 2 or 3 times. they had to give me more than 3 different companies to call to do the work i needed done. This year when I tried to contact them none of the #’s work and the web site is not at all functional. So sorry I didin’t look at this web site first! I got took
Rip-Off company won’t honor contracts, bad customer service, they never answer the phone i have stayed on the phone waiting for over 3 hrs and was then treated rudely as if i was cheating them, won’t send work orders, refuses to pay service company, lied to BBB, consumer fraud agency of New York state and the AG’s office, promised to give refund and complete all open work orders but never did now they have changed their phone number and website only shows home page, no way to speak with a live person. People in Texas they were not licensed or registered to do business in Texas so this is insurance fraud lets put a end to this and start a class action lawsuit and get what we paid for.
