Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights
Note: This company may have sold warranties using the brand name Champion Home Warranty

I am horrified to hear the hundreds of complaints just like mine. These people running this company should be put out of business, they are a disgrace to Americans. Their fine print, requests for refrigerator records, rudeness, dubious business practice and refusal to pay claims, makes them the bottom feeders of the insurance industry. I am hearing hundreds of people who want to file class action suit—well count me in on this one. Their bbb rating is an F, they have hundreds of compalints of the same nature over and over and do nothing about it. They registered their company to a P.O Box and the court ordered them to give a physical address. Time to contact the insurance commissioner of NY.

Bad customer service – called in for billing questions – rep continued to argue with me and would not give me his name.
Do not and i repeat do not join this fraudulent insurance. You will end up paying for it and they will not repair anything. I had to cancel my insurance with them because they were not willing to repair my broken items even though their contract states they are supposed to replace or repair it…
I wish I reviewed this website before I purchased the warranty. Last year, Sep, I purchased the warranty from them. After that, I had two claims. One was AC, one was Refrigerator. They refused the AC repair, they approved the Refrig, but, I got pay for almost half of the expense. I decided not to continue the service, but, they told me I can not cancel. It was an one year contract, I thought it would be cancelled once it’s matured. Guess what, they charged me for second year without contacting me. Last month, I called, and emailed for cancellation, but, no refund was issued. Today, I called them again, they told me I had two year warranty. Fortuanately, I had my contract with me while I was talking to that lier. He said, Oh, my system made a mistake. We would refund the money within 7-14days. Then, I asked for confirmation number. He gave me a fake number. I asked him to repeat the confirmation number, he gave me a totally different number!!!. I wish someone sued them, this kind of company is just a piece of junk.
I was told that they provided service for Sears (which is what I was trying to reach) they are very smooth and get your credit card information without you even realizing it. Since I felt HAD, as soon as I hung up I got on line and found these reviews, within minutes I called and tried to cancel only to be told that once the charge was made I was not able to cancel. I called my credit card company and they canceled my charge. However, now months later I get a statement from my credit card company with the charge reinstated. They, Nationwide disputed the cancelation saying that I authorized the charge, never saying that I tried to cancel it and they would not allow me. I am now disputing with my credit card company to clarify this. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY! You will spend months trying to get your money back and the hassel of being the one with burden when it is they who are the thives!

I dont even know what to tell about this so called company. I dont think its even doing business to have etics or customer service. All they are doing is a scam. I cant believe people would just setup a company andd offically cheat people and can get away with it in U.S.A in year of 2009.
I have been through all the possible frustration and pain with this people and finally wasted money, time and even humilated by lefting me on to hold for several minutes utill it is disconnected or I ran out of patience.
Please tell me what to do, so that we can stop them doint this to other people
Over Telephone I authorized to charge my credit card in the amount of $350 for Home warranty on 5-26-2009. The contract should start on 6-1-2009. Before that date, I called and requested to cancel the contract. The Customer service cancelled the contract and wanted to issue the credit. Took more than 2 months, then I disputed through my credit card. after failing, I again contacted with Natiowide and they confirmed credit was issued on 9-13-2009. Now, at 10-8-2009, they are telling they are still reviewing. Everytime I called, they confirmed within 2weeks, within 1week, within 4days, within 4 hours, with 48hours credit will be issued. Never got credit. It’s 5months. I already have home warranty under American Home shield. I have following dates and contacted persons
6-26-2009: Jason billing was issuing credit
8-24-2009: Billing department, Jason wanted to issue credit
9-2-2009: Franklin confirmed a credit on 9-9-2009
9-11-2009: Franklin issuing credit by next 4 hours
9-12-2009; Franklin issuing credit next wednesday
9-17-2009: Billing confirmed credit was issued on 9-13-2009
10-2-2009: Billing wanted 3-5days
10-8-1009: Billing wants 48 hours for review
Overall, I haven’t signed any contract. I cancelled on time. They took more than 5 months and I believe, this company is doing injustice to many.
Thank god all they owe us is 70.00, but when calling to collect the money they speak so fast and so low that you can’t understand them. When you ask for a supervisor your put on hold till you hang up. They then had the nerve to call and ask if we would do another call for them. HAHAHAHA Stay away service providers AHS, 2-10 Old Republic, Cross Country Home Services, and 1st American. They pay.
My story is too long and involved to even write out. Basically, if I could rate this company on a negative scale I would. They don’t even deserve the 1 star I gave. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY they are most definitely NOT on your side
Nationwide Home Warranty, NY,NY
This company issued me a policy when I bought my house from a previous owner. I realize the restrictions where they indicate that previous condtions, no maintenance records, etc they have the right to deny claim. I have made 3 claims and all denied. They lie. I had a Microwave that was 2005 model and they said it was on warranty thru the manufacter. It was not covered. I argued with them and showed them documentation and they denied.
I didn’t have maintenance records, because I just bought the home. This company shouldn’t sell a policy, when they know that the homeowner cannot produce maintenance records due to not owning home. They denied claims and will deny for any reason, they think they can get away with.
In my opinion, this company has fraudulenty collected premiums from millions of people who bought re-sale homes, while knowingly the owner could not produce records.
I have filed a complaint Insurance Commission and Attorney General in AZ & NY.
Is there any scores lower than 0??? This company is the biggest disgrace!! They take your money, they DO NOT cover your repairs, then when you try and cancel they say you can’t. Well, I told them that if they didnt cancel, I would report them to the Attorney General and they said they would refund my money but it would be pro-rated for the time not used. I agreed, signed the release 3 months ago!! I have contacted them 6 times in 3 months and told each time my check was going in the mail and to date, I have not received it!! I’m on hold again with them, listening to someone pick up and then put me back on hold. They are avoiding me and I’m ready to contact Attorney General. I would recommend one thing…and that is DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They have no business ethics at all!!!
This so called warranty company is a total rip off to both the customer and and the contractor. Was contacted in July to check on a local house and that they didn’t have any contractors in the area ( can see why). Found several problems with the A/C and all were denied for some excuse. Even though part of the problem was a wrong part by someone that they had sent a couple of weeks prior. 2 months later, still have not received payment, is always going out this Fri. That has been for the last 3-4 weeks. The people are rude, mumble and put on hold forever. This company is a JOKE. Feel sorry for the people that bought their policy. Telling all the agents and real estate companies that I deal with to stay far far away from these people
Their service is awefull! They keep you on hold for 20 minutes and then hang up on you. You can’t get any resolution to a problem. You can’t talk to a manager and if you leave a message, they never call you back.
You will get more satisfaction lighting your money on fire
mark my word please. This company is a scam|||||| Scam||| if you are a thinking about to buy this policy.you will be making a big mistake.i made a mistake not reading a reviews.feel free to contact me bhupinder_singh@usa.com

Just another bad review for NATIONWIDE HOME WARRANTY!!!!
They Take you money and tell you have 3 days to review the contract and cancel within those 3 day. What they don’t tell you that if you don’t like all the “Hoops” you have to jump through thats in the contract for making a claim, it will cost you $50.00 just to cancel. Watch out for Robert, he will sell you a contract at any cost, but knows nothing about what is entailed for making a claim. Once you read the contract, its too late and they won’t give you your money back.
I have preciously filed a review on this website.
This entry is to provide all of you with a website to file a formal complaint with the State of NY, Dept of Insurance.
It is simple and quick.

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! I would also like to be included in a class action against them. The customer service is totally incompetent and does not work. We have called over and over again to no avail. Our dryer has been broken for 4 days and we still do not have a repair request in b/c customer service “cannot help us.” How can they not help us? It’s their job?
like every other review – this company is a scam. without doing my homework, i signed up- then minutes later i read (in horror) the terrible reviews online…i immediately called to cancel my policy and so began the mindnumbing experience of dealing with Nationwide’s customer service. the first time i called they said to send an email to cancel my policy. so i did. no response. so i called. a completely rude ’swtichboard’ operator answered and told me that the billing dept. was busy. i asked if i could hold on the line- she said no. she took my name and number and said i would get a call back. no call. i sent another email. no response. i called again. same story from the SAME rude woman. next day, same thing- same lady. email and phone call. SAME thing. fourth day- my call immediately goes on hold. at this point i am quite sure that the switchboard lady has recognized my number and places me on hold- every 30 sec i hear the phone click, meaning that she has placed me on hold for another cycle. this goes on for 15 min…so while still on hold- i call from my cell phone- a number they do not recognize- after 2 rings I get through- while still on hold on the first line- fortunately I got a different guy who finally said he would cancel the policy.
PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK- do not use this company. I finally went with Sensible Home Warranty- they were courteous and professional- their rates excellent- and delivered their contract as stated.
I would like to address my concerns stated about the fraudulent services Nationwide Home Warranty Services failure to provide after several repeated attempts to have a service repair to my Whirlpool Dryer. I was hung up on after place on hold several times. The phone would ring during business hours and no one answers the calls. When I finally got through, I got the run around about that contract was not signed; therefore no one could dispatch service, although, my contract was signed over a month ago with credit card payment prior to me calling in for service. I was told that they dispatch someone and I will have to wait 24 – 48 hours for someone to call to set a date to come out. I never received that call at all. Long story short… I have to ride this contract out until 2014 for the meantime, I plan on contacting the BBB.
This company is a scam. Signed up for a monthly payment and got charged for the entire amount. Called them several times to correct the issue, told me I will get the refund but never did. Called again to cancel the account and got transferred to different “departments.” All reps were rude. Last rep I spoke to said the account has been cancelled but never got a confirmation. So I called my bank that same day and disputed the amount they charged me. Got my money back!!! Don’t be duped. They are just there to get your money.
HELLO EVERYONE! THEY ARE A RIPP OFF! I TOOK THEM TO COURT IN NEW YORK AND WON. THEY HAVE NOT EVEN PAID THE JUDGMENT FROM THE COURT! IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME WHICH BANK NATIONWIDE USES I MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET THE MARSHALL AFTER THEM. PLEASE EMAIL ME LJLODGE@MSN.COM
THANKS.
This company is a SCAM. I called about a broken ceiling fan. They sent a technician who reported that the fan could not be fixed. Nationwide then denied the claim stating that it was a preexisting condition. I have filed a suit with the state insurance agency in New York where they are based. I suggest that others do the same. I am also filing a law suit against them. Time to put these disreputible companies out of business
Nationwide Home Warranty is a complete SCAM! Don’t waste your time or money (not to mention your sanity) on this poor excuse for a home warranty company. They are in the business of denying claims and have a whole laundry list of requirements and stipulations they’ll throw at you ONLY AFTER you submit a claim.
When you make the initial call to Nationwide to enroll, very professional and helpful individuals answer on the second or third ring and promise that everything is covered (they never once mention the need for “maintenance records” or that only one of your A/Cs will be covered). Had this been disclosed during the rosy sales pitch, I would have never given them my business. I bought a 12 year old home and obviously didn’t have any maintenance records from the previous owner.
When you submit a claim, it quickly goes downhill. The claims department consists of the most disrespectful and rude individuals I have ever encountered. When you finally get to speak with someone after being on hold for 30-45 minutes, they promise you will be contacted within 24-48 hours – 5 days later you still haven’t been contacted. They change the status to “priority” and again say that you’ll be contacted in 24-48 hours. When I contacted the first technician they assigned, the company told me they no longer do business with Nationwide (I now know why).
If a class action lawsuit is ever established, thousands of us who have been taken will jump on that bandwagon.
I have an electrical outlet problem. Technition came out could not fix from the switch plate. He said there was a short somewhere. He called Nationwide and said someone would contact me and left.2 weeks later i finally got a hold of someone and they said it was pre\existing should have been fixed befor warranty began. How can you fix something when it was not broke. Then my garage door began to slip as it went up and down. Repairman came out knew how to fix it said he would call Nationwide be back tommorrow.1 weeks later I called him he said he was tired of waiting on the phone to speak with someone. Told me he would rather fix it without them.Tried to get my money back. Should not have changed from Homeshield to save money They where OK.
