Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights
Note: This company may have sold warranties using the brand name Champion Home Warranty

I can’t see how overall they got a 2 rating and nobody has given them above a 1. It’s 2010 and their story hasn’t changed and it never will. Do not buy their policy no matter how good their advertising is. They do not fix a thing. They just line their own pockets. It’s the greatest form of PONZI scheme out there. Take in all the money they can and make NO payouts.

My experience is same as all of you. They did not send contract agreement. They did not want to fix, instead wanted to settle that was not an acceptable amount. They said 1st call was free and did not honor that too. Stay away from this company ‘Nationwide Home Warranty’. Dont waste your hard earned money to this crooks.
THE COMPANY WAS IM POSSIBLE TO DEAL WITH. OUR OVEN WOULD NOT WORK THEY SENT A COMPANY THAT WAS NOT ABLE TO FIX IT PROPERLY . REPAIR COST WAS $875 AND THEY OFFERED TO PAY $300 SINCE THAY SAID WE HAD NO REPAIR RECORDS BUT OVEN HAD BEEN WORKING FINE FOR THE PAST 9 YEARS.
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS CO!
This is the worst warranty company I’ve ever dealt with. After dealing with them just one time I said forget it and cancelled my warranty. Haven’t heard from them again. Thank GOD!! We should all call the better business bureau.
Complete scam. They deny ALL claims, regardless of what they are. Their “out” for coverage, is asking for maintenance receipts. They said I was suppose to have someone come out yearly too look at ALL myappliances – COMPLETE BS. No one has a service person come out to turn on the bottom to self clean an oven – or look at a DW, refer, or micro – if nothing is wrong with it. They have been shut down from selling in CA. and FL. Wish I had googled them before purchasing a 1 year warranty. Reported them to the BBB in N.Y., (of which BTW, they are NOT a member and also the Atty. General office.
This is my second claim with Nationwide and it has been a nightmare! Customer Service is the worst I have ever dealt with. None of my claims had been resolved, so I still have a broken fan in my family room and a half fixed water heater that has a cap on the drain from keeping it from leaking. Don’t do buisiness with them, you will regeret it, I PROMISE!
This company is a total fraud. They do not cover any claims. And all the reps and managers use fake names. READ THE STORY ON THIS COMPANY ON WARRANTYWEEK.COM… BE AWARE!!!
If anyone is looking for the company’s real name or trying to pursue legal action use this- MOAF CORP… let’s sue and contact the attorney general
I used nationwide home warranty. I had 3 claims- 2 were paid and one i accepted a cash settlement- wish they wouldve paid it all but not compaining
If anyone is looking for their real address — it is

I am a service contractor that had the unfortunate experience of dealing with this company on appliance service. I followed all the the procedures for authoriztion and completed the jobs to the homeowners satisfaction. I have been waiting to be paid for several months now. Always the answer is “your check is in processing” yet we never receive it. I would love to hear the back room meetings for this company no doubt all about how to get new customers and not pay the contractors. WE should all get together and sue this company to the ground. If your a service provider BEWARE you will not be paid, you will just be out the parts and the labor and endless telephone calls to a waste of time company.
Do not do business with this company. This company will take your money and not pay your claims. They have terrible customer service. This company has been a nightmare to do business with.
Nationwide got a “1″ because there was nothing lower. After purchasing a home warranty policy this summer with a fast-talker over the phone, I called in to notify them that on a Sunday evening in early August, I had to call in my plumber for an emergency situation, and wanted to submit a claim for reimbursement, if possible. Well, it’s been over THREE MONTHS of repetitious e-mails, calls (good luck getting the claims dept), and faxes, and thus far I’ve gotten two responses. One was a request to fax in my signed contract sheet, which I did. The second, after finally, FINALLY getting someone on the phone, was a droning rep who simply stated that NONE of my numerous e-mails were received (I finally started keeping copies). To date, no help, no response to the faxes I recently sent. Nothing. This is the lousiest company I’ve ever dealt with.
My water heater went out. Before they would honer there agreement they wanted records of maintenance preformed on my water heater. SAY WHAT!!!!! so these low life crooks got away without paying. I took a 3 year contract out on my 2 houses with them.
nationwide is BAD Just remenber this nationwide…..what goes around comes around. sleep well and dream of me you crooks!!!
This is bad choice to select this company. Hope I have read the reviews before I selected the company. within half hour of talking to them, the cash option of the setelement became half and the reason thy gave is because they can do it.
They deny claims that are completely covered in my contract. They take your money, submit a request for someone to come to your home and survey/estimate the “contracted covered item”, then deny your claim and ask for maintenance receipts for an oven? refrigerator? garage door servicing? Makes no sense. I sent them the dates I cleaned my oven, which had nothing to do w/the control panel burning out. I hope the Attorney General in N.Y. shuts them down for fraud!!
Have filed 3 claims for repairs on our pool/spa heater. (we paid extra for this coverage) Still no response. Pool company still has not received a work order.
Don’t waste your money on a home warranty with this company. The premiums may be low but you get what you pay for and that is nothing.
Thanks Nationwide Home Warranty for stealing my money. I hope you will be out of business soon so that no one else can be scammed.
My story isn’t any different from anyone else. But, I just wanted to share how Nationwide put me through hell about signing a contract that they indicate I received when initiating service a year and a half ago. I went back and forth with their very rude, undereducated reps for four days about this contract that they stated was my responsibility of as a consumer to sign. After I had to explain that legally I was in a contract with them since I have authorized them to deduct their payments from my card and attempted to utilize their services, they still would not provide me with the service that I am paying them for. They were telling me that they could not override their system if a contract wasn’t received. This perplexed me as they had provided me service a few months prior with no contract. I then spoke to one of their managers who I had to explain that I never received this so-called contract to sign, as I still had the original. She then tells me “oh, you would not have received it as it was not implemented until 3/09.” I then asked why I never received notification of this and she indicated that they were not advising people of this until they called to make a claim. Apparently, contractors are refusing to work with Nationwide because of their scamming of customers. This company is ridiculous.
All the comments from people that say their claim was denied, and that the company would say it is a pre-existing condition are true. We tried to file our very first claim with them, it took them days to get someone out, and then they said the problem with the fridge was pre-existing. It was working perfectly up to the day that it wasn’t! The first woman we spoke to could, of course, do nothing, and the supervisor was rude and extremely unprofessional!! I wish we had read these reviews before we signed up with them! We won’t make that mistake ever again! Run, don’t walk away from this company!!!! I gave them 1’s on the rating scale only because there were no ZERO’s!! They really do suck!!!
Our Company has submitted work orders for payment & this Company does not honor home warranty contracts! We are still trying to get paid from this Company. We will no longer honor any service calls from Nationwide Home Warranty until they fulfill full payment to our Company for Services performed! Poor, Poor, Customer Service over the phone as well, cannot understand person on other end (mumbels information) not courteous! Terrible, requests for payment have been made numerous times, with no response.
Everyone’s complaint is the same as mine…they take your money and DO NOT cover anything that needs to be repaired. The customer service is very rude…and the only line that you can call and get through on is the sales department. Don’t even think about getting through on the claims department line…you will be on hold extensively, only to get answered by some incompotent claims advisor. This is truly a horrible company…and I will make absolutely sure I cancel with them as SOON as my contract is up…they may try to pull a scam and charge me for another year without even contacting me if I don’t cancale with them FIRST! Such a horrible company.
HELP >>> DOES ANYONE HAVE A CANCELED CHECK OR A CHECK FROM NATIONWIDE? THEY ARE THIEVES! They sais they would fix my heat. I even have it in writing. I am trying to get them to honor their contract through the court.please email me ljlodge@msn.com – Thanks.
Here is another sucker! I am a senior citizen w/ disability, limited income. Bought the policy for protection, I was promised the moon by the sales rep. A/C went out September 2009 and I have furnished maintance records for the past year. Now, they wont talk, answer e-mails or answer the fax line anymore. Have experienced rudeness, and waiting up to 49 minutes, ony to be disconnected. I have always been polite and courteous to them. And after reading reviews I am concerned that July 2010 they will hit my bank account for another $360.
This company is the worst, I was told when I upgraded the contract that everything was covered, since then I have been turned down on two services requests. In addition I was charged $225.00 two times even though I showed where they chrrged me twice something should be done about th is company,if anyone knows where I can report them to the insurance commission……bad really bad
