This company is bad news! They talk a good show to get you signed-up, but when it comes to follwo through, they are a ZERO.

What a BIG JOKE they are. Now no longer allowed to sell policies in the State of Nevada, Florida & California. Offered me a refund on the remaining time on my contract and asked that I write back with a “cancellation” letter, to be sent to a specific address. Not the address on their website. Send the letter 2/24 and STILL have not received a credit. There such a farce!!

Very unprofessional company. Still have not been sent a check 7 weeks after agreeing to a settlement with them. Have tried to call for 4 straight days. They do not answer the phones. What a joke company, they are stealing peoples money
The Worst….Please do not even think of considering this company..We cannot get them on the phone to even voice a complaint.They owe me 400.00 dollars in a refund they promised …We are going to report them to the Balto.atty.generals office.A real scam company..
We called about our cooktop and we told to wait. IT’s three weeks. They won’t pick up the phone, put us on hold! TERRIBLE!
We MADE a huge MISTAKE by switching companies. This is a total sham company. They lie, and never do anything and most importantly never pick up the phone!
I really wish that they had a 0 rating. I feel bad giving them a 1. This is obviously a fraudulent company and I wish that I had read these reviews before becoming a customer. Everything that is listed in the other reviews is absolutely true. They play horrible call waiting games. While you are on hold, you can actually hear people pick up the phone and put it back down (just to see if you are still on hold). They had agreed to pay a small portion of a claim, but only after I sent them back a notarized release document. I sent the document back 2 months ago and have heard nothing. Occasionally you will get someone on the phone and then the phone call will be disconnected.
I hope people will take note. I did not get a home warranty as described on their website. Very problematic to deal with and never received my service request. Was able to get the money back with the help from my title company. But was not easy. I believe this company is a scam.
This company is a scam. I bought a contract from them in October 2009, and they deducted monthly installments from my checking account through February 2010. In late Feb. my refrigerator stopped cooling so I called to open up a claim. After being put on hold (repeatedly) for more than half an hour, someone finally picked up, took my information and said that a technician would be in touch within 3 days. No technician…no repair…can’t even get in touch with them by phone anymore.
Crooks, Swindlers, Thieves DO NOT PURCHASE A HOME WARRANTY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!! Our washing machine went out and we called Nationwide, after having waited on hold for an eternity they sent a tech out to look at it, he stated that it could be repaired and gave an estimate for the repair. He called it in to Nationwide, and they called us back offering a settlement for less than it would take to buy the parts for the repair. After several calls emails and threats of legal action. We have filed claims with the Missouri Attorney Generals office as well as the New York Attorney Generals Office.
I encourage anyone who has been ripped off by this disreputable company to report there actions to the Attorney General of you state and New York!

I filed a complaint with the Nevada Dept. on Insurance. As a result Nationwide agreed to rebate money to Nevada customers, since they weren’t licensed in Nevada. If you are a victim of their fraudulant practices I would contact your state Attorney General and file a complaint. If you paid by credit card you can file a complaint with them based on fraud. I used this website as evidence they are sham company. In my case they refused to pay for my compressor replacement. They asked for detailed service and maintenance records. I provided them and was told they were insufficient. They will never call you back, they want you to wait on hold to discourage you. When you use their website for “faster service”, you recieve email directing you to call the phone number.
March 19, 2010 — WARNING!!! Do NOT purchase a home warranty with this company. If I can convince future purchasers to NOT buy into their business, then I can at least feel better about being ripped off. This company has the worst service I have ever encountered. All the bad reviews you read above are true. Their staff is incompetent and the delay in service is a waste of your valuable time. Their warranty is a scam and more than likely your service request will be denied and you’ll still pay the $45 visit fee. Hear this, even the repair company they sent us told us that Nationwide is the worst company they have dealt with and already knew we will be denied. The repair company actually advised us to never renew our contract with them. Save your money and don’t be fooled about their good ratings.
they are the worst co. to deal with, put on hold for a long time, listen to their terrible music, and every now and then someone comes on the line (recording ofcourse) that Ann will be right with you and then if you have a claim you must put it on the computer, well now their e-mail line is disconnected as well as their 800 number. 24/7 NO WAY…. waiting for my cancellation monies to be sent, waiting for a garage door repair invoice to be paid for service in Jan.,2010…No one in Las Vegas will do work for them and I too am waiting for an oven part….2 weeks….THE WORST CO.
I tried to file a claim and was told I needed to send back my signed contract. Several days later I’m still waiting for it despite several requests. Besides, they ask me for a maintenance record and I can see they are looking for a way out. I used to be with First American Home Warranty and never had any of this with them. I changed to save a few bucks. Bad mistake.
I have had American Home Shield for several years and have recently switched to Nationwide Home Warranty Services due to their too-good-to-be-true prices. Well, the old adage of – if it’s too good to be true it usually is, is right on the mark with this one. They have the worst customer service department that I have ever had to deal with, and that is if you can even get through to them! Sure, you can hit option 1 and will be immediately transferred to “new customer” accounts, but to get someone to help with a claim – good luck!!! Once you do speak with their anything but customer friendly representatives, good luck getting someone to come to your house. It takes them days to even find a contractor who is stupid enough to want to work with this scam of a company, and once that contractor deals with them, they will never again – unless they are masochistic. I have personally talked to several well established local contractors who, after dutifully completing their work, waited for 6 months to get reimbursed by Nationwide. One is waiting 9 months, and still no pay.
Customers and contractors – stay away from this typical Brooklyn bait-and-switch company!!! You get what you pay for, and in this case you don’t pay too much, but get a whole lot less in return!!!

Bad check received. I have a repair company and nationwide home warranty called me saying we owe you money we are sending you a check. well, they sent me the paycheck but it bounced costing me additional overdraft fees. I cant get anyone on the phone, i also sent faxes and they still wont respond to cover the bad check.
IF YOU ARE A CONTRACTOR DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. THEY ACT AS IF THEY ARE DOING YOU A FAVOR BY GIVING YOU BUSINESS THEN THEY NICKEL AND DIME YOU OUT WHAT IS OWED TO YOU AFTER YOU COLLECT THE DEDCUTIBLE FROM THE CUSTOMER. THEY TELL YOU WHAT YOUR PRICES SHOULD BE AND WHAT YOU SHOULD BE CHARGING FOR SERVICES WHEN YOU TRY TO TELL THEM WHAT IT ACTUALLY COSTS AND IT IS A MONEY LOSING SITUATION. WHEN YOU CALL ABOUT PAYMENT THAT IS OWED TO YOU THEY HAVE SOME MONKEY READING FROM A SCREEN WITH SCRIPTED ANSWERS THAT TELL YOU NOTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW.
Do not do business with Nationwide Home Warranty. They are cheat. They just use some or other excuses not to cover the service. My clothes dryer went out of order and I requested a service call. After a week a repair person came and checked the dryer. He said that there was some problem with the control panel. We purchased this dryer about 5 years back and I had a home warranty with American Home Shield and only 2 times in past I had a problem with the dryer and American Home shield promptly repair it. But Nationwide is asking me to show all the maintenance records that states that the dryer was maintained properly in the past for 5 years. I do not have those records as I had a home warranty and they took care of it. I think Nationwide is just trying to sneak out of the repair services and that’s why they are making excuses. They told me to get it repaired out of pocket expenses and submit the claim for reimbersment and if they found it appropriate then they will pay me back. But after reading all the reviews on the blog, I do not think I am going to take that risk. My sincere advise is to keep away from this company and even though other companies are little more expensive go for them. I had a very good experience with American Home Shield. Any advise about filing a complaint against them??????
Do not do business with Nationwide. They want your money and will not assist you after getting it. I just tried to report a claim. When they finally answered, the young man sounded like I was disturbing him. My hot water heater went out. 3 hours later still no plumber. I called back, was on hold for 55 min. listening to an auto answer. When they finally answered I said I hadn’t heard from a plumber, he asked what is this regarding??? My heater was 11 yrs old…my claim is pending review???? Horrible customer service. They don’t care about you at all!!!!
I do not like having to file a claim on-line. When my heater stopped working in the middle of the winter, 2009, I don’t need to be waiting by my computer for a reply. They advertised 24/7 service, I don’t call this 24/7 service.

Still waiting to hear from them regarding my refund. Run, run very fast from them!!! I may have to contact my local news stations to have Nationwide investigated for the disloyal service they provide to their customers.
As all other pundits – this company is a rip-off – will not repair anything – only send canned replies to the BBB – I am cancelling my contract early so they don’t charge me for next year 3 months before contract ends – I figure its better to cover my losses!
