PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE read reviews and DO NOT use this company. They are a complete scam. STAY AWAY!
File a complaint everywhere you can. BBB in NY has over 450 complaints against them. Will file a complaint with Attorney General.
Just found out this company is a fraud. Everything already posted about them is completely true. Watch out for Cross Country Home Service and National Home Protection they do the same thing as this company. Between all three companys we are out a couple thousand dollars. I feel really sorry for the homeowners who paid these jerks in advance.
this is a scam. Their automated call center is a scam also. Someone just keeps hanging up and none of their options work it keeps resetting. They do not reply to online claims and we’re out lots of money because we were waiting for them to respond and eneded up making matter worse than if we had addressed it immediately. I wish i had read these when i bought our policy in 2009.
I emailed a claim in and they responded within 24 hours with a contractor, but the contractor refuses to do work with them since they haven’t paid them for work that was completed more than 5 months ago. I have been on hold on the phone, keep getting cycled through on the menu until they hang up on me. Looks like I am not the first nor the last, this is a scam.
My grandmother bought a warranty from them June 2009 from “Robert.” Her air conditioner broke down in April 2010. She called them numerous times. She could not reach them. Their voicemal indicates that they are closed though we called during appointed buseness hours they mentioned they are open on the voice recording. I LIVE IN NEW YORK. I went to their offices that are rented to them by a Regus International on 100 Church Street 8th Floor. THIS IS A SCAM. THERE IS NO COMPANY. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. My poor grandmother had to pay for a new air conditioner. This is a scam. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. We are speaking tot he Attorney General of New York and they will be outed.
Wow. Trying to process my first claim ever for a broken oven…and I am currently at the one hour point on hold with the company without talking to anyone yet. Sure do wish I would have researched these clowns first, since now I am apparently out a buncha money and stuck with a broken oven. Their phone tree just constantly resets, and I have re-inputed my options about 10 times now while on hold. I am actually nervous to even attempt to process a claim after reading these 400+ reviews…
HORRIBLE!!!!!! I’ve been waiting for the refund that they promised me since October or November, it’s May and they don’t answer the phone at all. I’ve contacted the better business bureau as well. HORRIBLE!!!!

I get put on hold by their automated phone system and then you can hear someone picking up the phone and hanging up on you!! I can spend hours trying to get a hold of them and cannot get them to pick up!! I e-mail them and they do not reply!! They took my annual fee and have not provided any service!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE – YOU WILL GET NOTHING IN RETURN!! Have I mention how AWEFUL they are???!!! I don’t have enough room to list how AWEFUL !!!!
I wish I would have read the reviews before I signed up with this company. They rebill your credit card for renewal, use fly by night contractors, don’t follow through with repairs (or service that wasn’t completed), and the list goes on. I filed a complaint with Nationwide and after several emails, they called me and tried to “work something out.” I refused to do anything over the phone. I sent them a letter in writing with no response. I finally sent an email and told them I was turning the matter over to my attorney and filing a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General’s Office. They emailed me a legal form with a refund amount. I had to sign it and fax it back. It has been over two months now and I have yet to receive a check. Seems that legal action should be taken against this company.
This company suck. They don’t obey contract. My heating systome has a leak problem. Based on my contrat, they don’t cover air-conditioning leak. I had my layer friend to read my contract. His interpretation is the same as mine.
Blacklist this fraud of a company. On the phone with a Nicole and she said go fix it yourself. Her supervisor was in a meeting her name was Christine Brown. These people are criminals . They know fully of what they are doing. If its company policy to lie and steal that does not relieve them of wrongdoing.THey both now know that they are theives and liars. They can not say they never were aware and its here for anyone to use in a court of class actions for them to be personally liable.. because the company cant have much to sue for better they pay court costs out of their pockets… anyone work for ABC??? Get John Stossel on their butts.
Ditto on all the bad reviews here. I researched this over a year ago when I purchased this instead of American Home Shield which was $150 more. My boyfriend has had AHS for 10 years and they always responded to him with a contractors name and phone within minutes although if one is not available they put it on you also to find one. Thats the catch they say they will look into the charges. Well You should look into another company . I am filing a consumer complaint today on them also. They also auto renew. Funny not only do they not answer service calls but they dont even pick up for a new sales call . The contractor line is even worse how can they be expected to want to deal with being on hold to get authorization?? There is bad service and then there is outright fraud. As far as blacklisting a company I cant believe they have not done this here with Nationwide. Ps its located in NY city and their 800 number has changed to a 718 area code. If that isnt warning enough!
They lied about the contract and got me into 5years contract so I canceled it in 3days for a refund in full and sent a fax of cancelation. They refused to give me cancelation number and acted like I’ve never tried to cancel it. So I sent a prove of cancelation paper and they sent me a release form and promised for a refund but they still haven’t given me a refund. Everytime I call and one person answer the phone in billing dept. and kept changing name around and saying they don’t know why I haven’t gotten a refund and when I will get a refund. I filed the complaint to BBB in NY and General Attoney’s office in NY but they can’t make them to pay my refund. It’s ridiculous that this kind of scam company is still running and stealing everybody’s money. Where is the justice and law?? I’m so angry about this fraud company and more angry that no one can’t do anything to stop them even there’s so many complaints are everywhere on website. It’s really shame!!
Giving them a 1 is too high. I unfortunalty didn’t read these reviews before I signed up with this company. Their website claim service is a joke I don’t think it is actually linked to any data base it probably just posts text where you can see it an you think you have a claim in process. When I called this very unfriendly women said that there was no claim in the system.
I turned in a broken microwave that they refused to fix. The doors were broken and they don’t fix doors but that wasn’t the only reason I turned in the claim. The service tech said it was toast and the ventilation fan didn’t work. After speaking with him for a short while he informed me that they owed him about 4K in unpaid repairs.
I really don’t know how they are allowed to keep their doors open. There is no peice of mind with the company if something big like an AC unit went out I don’t know what I would do. I used my credit card to purchase this so I think a dispute is in order.
Always use a credit card when purchasing anything like this or when purchasing anything online.
You can never reach them and and as a result you never get service
They don’t pay their contractors. They sent us 3 work orders which all had an approved payment amount and we have not been paid for any of them. This was in December 2009. We provided a service to THEIR CUSTOMERS, but cannot get paid for our services. After the fact we checked them out and they have an “F” rating with the BBB.
It’s more than nightmare to deal with this terrible company. I called last to week to place a work order of my clogged sewer, only to be put on hold for a rediculous an hour or so before a reception picked up the phone and she was the most unfriendly ever. She took the order but never followed up with the plumbing company, so i waited and wasted most of my day waiting for nothing and no one called me back for the service. I ended up calling another plumbing company to get the job done but I had to pay full. If anyone considers buying warranty from Nationwide, don’t even dare because you will be treated like shit and waste your money. But most importantly, you will be paying for frustration and maddness and not service or work done!!!!!!!!!
Company is FRAUD. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT opening a contract with them. PATHETIC service.

I am a servicer in Las Vegas Nevada, Nationwide is not continuing in Nevada! I have had policy holders inform me of this. They have mentioned that Nationwide would prorate unused time on polices, and have not done so. Nationwide is crooked. The reason they are pulling out is that they know the jig is up and we all here are on to them. They owe us money too have not paid. Rude So lets shut them down. They need to be fined!!!
WARNING!!! According to the New York Attorney Generals office, Nationwide is out of funds! Suppose to be closed down but still operating like normal! Surprised the don’t authorize the repairs since they DON’T PAY THE BILL!!!!!!!

WARNING- DO NOT USE NATIONWIDE HOME WARRANTY!!! We are a repair company in the DFW metroplex and have had a horrible time dealing with Nationwide Home Warranty. We have yet to receive payment for several service calls! Every time I call to inquire about payment I am transferred to Joy in billing who tells me “your invoice is being processed and the check will be cut in 3-5days” Hog wash! I filed a complaint with the Real Estate Commission of Texas and suggest anyone who has been burned by this company follow suit http://www.trec.state.tx.us/ 800-250-8732 I will also be filing a complaint with the Attorney Generals Office.
We are plumbing contractor’s in the Southern Oregon area and had the misfortune to do business with this company once. Just like the other contractor’s I too got the run around. This company will take your premium but will not authorize any work. They will have you the customer pay the service fee which is due whether or not work was actually performed. But when I billed and rebilled I always get the privilege of speaking to the same gal,( Joy ) who is like a broken record and says the payment is in processing. This has been going on since August 2009. I believe this company is just a store front ripping folks off. My opinion is that no real work ever gets done for the customer. DO NOT BUY THIS CONTRACT WITH THIS FAKE PROTECTION COMPANY. IT”S A SCAM !

I’ve been told that now for 6 months. How long does it take to “process a payment”! As a Homeowner, RUN! Stay far away from this company. You may even be lucky to have them answer a phone call, be prepared to wait! As a customer, class action law suit is recommended! The owner (and employees) should be prosecuted fully. VERY POOR COMPANY!!!
