| Home warranty is a complex insurance product. Unlike home insurance, it does not provide blanket coverage for all appliances. Pre-existing conditions and problems resulting from lack of maintenance of appliance are are generally not covered by home warranty companies. Home warranty sellers may not state these factors clearly, and this will create dissatisfaction among customers. Due to these factors, you will see many negative reviews here. Don't be intimidated by some negative reviews here. If you have maintained your appliances in good condition and go with a reputed home warranty provider, your coverage will be fine. |
We do not endorse any company in particular, however you should ignore the reviews that are overly negative or positive. Such reviews are not likely to offer a balanced view and some of them could be fake reviews posted to promote or demote a company. It is always a good idea to check BBB ratings and make sure the company is licensed to do business in your State by contacting State Insurance Commission. Try to avoid paying annual premium and keep your cancellation rights
Note: This company may have sold warranties using the brand name Champion Home Warranty

I am unable to get a response either to phone calls or e-mail. Warranty is of no use what so ever. How can I get any of the cost of the policy returned?
Nationwide was shut down in Nevada for not having a license. They were supposed to issue a prorata refund in March. Still waiting. I suggest everyone send an email to the Attorney General of the State of New York to prosecute this company. It is truly a criminal enterprise. In addition send a warning to your friends not to use this company.
We are a contractor who is approved with several companies and we signed up with Nationwide to expand our business.
Buyer’s beware….this company does not pay. We went out and completed the work and even obtained authorization from the authorization dept. The work was completed in February and it is now June and we are still waiting to be paid.
The last time we were able to make contact in March we were told the billing was in process. Now we just get stuck in the phone cycle.
Do not buy from them. I actually believe they are probably out of business.
My heat pump stopped working on 6/1/2010. I attempted to reach this company seven times and they kept pushing me through the same circular prompts. Nobody answered my phone! Then I followed their recording filed a claim by email…they didn’t reply me either. I repeatly did same thing in following two days, but still nothing! I absolutely agree with all the other reviews, this is the worst company. Do not do business with them and I would like to kick the owners ass. Now I just wish I can get my money back from my credit card fraud department.
Tried to call in claim – phone system just passes you to next station then routes you back to start. E-mailed claim – never got reply. Just take money and don’t provide service.
Very simple. Do not do business with them. I got really lucky and got all my money back from my credit card fraud department. They do not have a license to sell insurance which basically means they are committing fraud. California and several other states have issued them a cease and desist order but they continue to sell policies regardless. I wish someone would throw them in jail. It took me literally hundreds of hours of being on the phone, emailing, and researching, but I finally got my money back. Good luck to all.
I attempted to arrange for service earlier this month and I became suspicious when I called their 800 number and found it was changed to a toll number and that the office was closed. My contract stated 24/7 service. After sending them an email to request service I did some searching thinking that the company had gone out of business. I even called the repair company that had come previously for a claim. Found out from them that they have been calling Nationwide every two weeks trying to collect payment for services rendered. After that, I figured all of these negative reviews were legit. Check out the BBB’s website: there have been 654 complaints filed, but make that 655 since I just filed one too. DO NOT do business with this company. I should have checked them out more, but I assumed (wrongly) they were part of Nationwide Insurance.
I attempted to reach this company five times and they kept pushing me through the same circular prompts. I have had this company for a year and they are rude and impossible to get a hold of. I have attempted to send numerous emails to this company and I have never recieved a reply. This is absolutely the worst home warranty company I have ever dealt with. I move a lot and I have used a variety of home warranty companies. This company seems like a scam. If you want a reliable home warranty company DO NOT use this company.
The first time they sent someone over to fix the washing machine, the person told US to pay for the repair as he was not aware of any agreement. Huh? Then he was incredibly rude.
I have made three email attempts and called for three consecutive days to reach and file a claim for a new incident. They have yet to answer either, and the phone just keeps pushing me through the same circular prompts. I even tried to access a person for NEW service just to reach ANYone, and no answer. I had to stop payment on the recurring charge they have with my bank. I bet you I will get a call from them now, but too late.
Do NOT use this company.
I’ve tried on several occasions to contact them regarding a claim (phone and e-mail). Their phone systems sends you into a never ending loop back to the main menu regardless of what option you choose. I received no response from the e-mails. I used them a couple years ago for a furnace repair and had no issues, now I’m not even sure if the company still exists (other than the fact they continue to withdrawl payments from my account). I can’t even contact anyone to cancel so I’m just going to put a stop payment on my account and find another home warranty provider.
Have been trying for days to reach them. Never pick up the phone. Haven’t answered my emails. Meanwhile my A/C is out and its 90 degrees.
I agree with all the other reviews. When you would call them, the recording will say that the best way to file a claim is to send them an email or to file a claim online. I did just that. At first, I logged in on my account and filed a claim … I didn’t hear from them. I tried calling after a couple days but no one picked up the call, after an hour of waiting. I sent them an email … and tried calling again … it’s been several days now but still nothing!!!
Awful
this is the worst company I have ever done business with – I have called several times and can’t get through to a person – no way to leave a message just wait on hold for over an hour
This company is the biggest scam around. First our hot water would not work in out bathtub. So we called and they said they didn’t have any technicians in Columbus, Ohio to service. They wanted to know if I lived in a rural area. I told them no that Columbus was the capital of Ohio. Next call came about 3 months later when my stove went out. The oven control board went out and they said it was cosmetic since the clock was on there and they would not cover after we spent the $50 service call. Hours upon hours on the phone with them. Now our refrigerator went out and we call to find out that they don’t service this area anymore. How ironic they just know don’t service this area. This company sucks something terrible and needs to be put out of business. If anyone lives in NY maybe you can go start a class action lawsuit and get everyone’s money back.
***OUT OF BUSINESS???*** We sent an email last week for a claim. Didn’t hear a word. Several days later tried another email. No response. We started trying to call – fell into an endless loop saying their menu options had changed. Finally selected the contractor option, got a live person, asked if they were still in business. We were then, and only then, informed that they “no longer serviced our area”. If we had not tried to file a claim, we would never have been told this. We asked about our pro-rated refund, and were told it would be credited to the credit card we originally paid for the service with…I will believe that when I see it!! If you think you are a customer, you might call to make sure they “still service your area”!!!! Gave them 1′s only because they didn’t offer a lower option!!!
Nationwide home warranty is a total scam. I would like to kick the owners ass. I have nothing to say except they suck. He belongs in prison for theft.
This company is a piece of $%it. Our AC unit went out in our home in Vegas. I spent days trying to get through and hours on the phone trying to get someone to pick up. Finally I get a young man on the phone that was more intersted in talking about himself than working on my claim. He said he would find a contractor and would call me in the afternoon. Big surpise NO call. I did get an e-mail though with the contractors name and phone. So I called and set up the appt. and Nationwide never sent the work order to the contractor. I again tried calling and e-mailing and I can not get any response. This is crap. Yesterday I had to pay $1000 dollars to fix the compressor in the AC unit. What is the purpose of these warranties. I am really leerey about even getting another home warranty with another company. PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT buy any type of warranty with this company.
We bought this warranty when we bought our house two years ago. Our a/c broke and a service provider informed us we would need a fan motor. Nationwide would not consider our claim without service records. We did not have any records! we had not lived in the house long enough! The customer service representitive hung up on us twice and when we did get someone to listen, we were promised a supervisor would call us back! We are still waiting a week later. Texas is hot and Nationwide does not care. However, they do draft your account for payment on time!!
My A/C unit went out…I have been unable to contact by email or phone the Claims Dept. They will not email me back or call me. So I had to call a Heat & Air Co. and pay for the cost of fixing my A/C Unit. This should had only cost me nomore then 60.00, but instead it cost me 150.00, because the Nationwide Home Warranty Plan I have sux’s. THE COMPANY IS NO GOOD ON CUSTOMER SERVICE. I am trying to cancell my plan as of today!!! The only way to cancell is pay the Bank a fee to stop the drafts from Nationwide..that sucks too.
This company is terrible!!! My husband and I got a home warranty to keep from having to pay out anymore money for problems within the home. I WISH i had been a smarter person and read these reviews before I purchased this home warranty. I have automatic payments pulled from my account and had my bank put a stop to these payments…for services undelivered. You would think if enough people complained something would be done about it.
My company is Total Home Repair LLC out of Arizona, and I am a service provider that has done home repairs for over 20 years now. I have worked for many warranty companies, and I have never experienced working for a company as horrible as this. I went out and serviced many calls for them for their customers and have yet to receive not a one payment from them for any of the calls. They are a scam and I wish I would have read into this company before starting to do work for them. It is true about trying to get in contact with anyone at this company. It is virtually impossible. I did talk to someone the other day, but only for them to tell me that their billing dept. was closed. They are a big scam and Home buyers beware & Service Contractors beware too!!!
In October, 2009 I took out a policy on a home I purchased in Las Vegas. I paid the yearly fee of $499.94. (Contract # N1108989). I received the contract at my residence in San Antonio which is my permanent address. The contract simply has my name and address and OWNER above it without stating where the coverage was. In Feb,2010 my water heater went out so I called Nationwide to cover the repair. I then found out I had no coverage for this home but the coverage was on my home in San Antonio which has already been covered for 6 yrs. I canceled the policy and they agreed to return $289. on 2-12-10. After 11 calls and 2 letters-NO MONEY!!!.
Absolutely the worst home warranty company I have ever dealt with and it sounds like we have all tried many. It’s just very frustrating to pay for a service and then receive nothing in return. Good luck if you ever talk to a person, get a response from an email, or any type of quick service or repair.
In the past 3 days I have e-mailed thweir office for a service call but no reply. I spent over 30 minutes on hold and tried every menu option but no answer. I even tried to send a fax but the fax number did not pick up. I called and sent an e-mail inquiry to BBB New York but I think I got my answer from these other postings. I got my credit card company involved and hopefully I will get my money back. They sent me a letter a few months ago and offered to terminate my contract since they will or can’t provide new service in NV I said no as I had a 3 yr contract. I was laso able to get through on the phone but not now.
