I too feel to the scam of paying for warranty and needing washer replaced they never paid after about 100 calls and BBC reporting. Now they are close and have been banned from business with lawsuit in Utah. Check the BBC webpage for details. I am up for a class action law suit but they have or will just fill bankruptcy, if a president wants my vote put CEO of companies such as this behind bars, for God's sake Martha Stewart went to jail for less of a violation.I would even give my over 2k loss of this scam to their political campaign! view less

We bought a two year warranty 0n March 24, 2014. Today (Aug 5, 2016), when the air conditioner stopped working, we attempted to contact the company. We were shocked to learn that the company went out of business in May 2014. In reading comments from other disgruntled "customers" it appears this company continued selling their special discounted two year warranty right up to the moment they closed their doors.

In 2012 we purchased 2 policy's for 2 homes for 2years coverage. Coverage was good until Dec. 2014.... when my microwave stopped working they sent one vendor out. A part was replaced but the microwave was still not working. I was waiting for another part replacement. After a month I called to find out that Sensible was no longer using that vendor. They sent another vendor. That vendor took my microwave to be repaired. Then after several weeks I called the vendor to find out that Sensible had not paid them for several service calls. This vendor would not return my microwave. I accepted a buyout of $650 from Sensible, but they never sent this amount. It has been about 10 months. I have reported them to the BBB and to the Nevada Division of Insurance. actually i would give this company zero stars!!!! They do not answer the phone and promised reimbursement for burse pipe never arrived. They are unethical and at this point since they are never answering calls or emails I can only guess they are out of business. If not don't waste your money, they are worthless.

The company is a complete Fraud. I have had one item taken care of but the vendor was never paid. I also was due 375.00 for the authorizing to get my own technician for the washer and dishwasher that failed on us. The max out dishwasher repairs to 125.00 and 250 for a washing machine. But not only do they limit what they say they will cover the never paid me a dime. I filed a pool claim 3 months ago and am still waiting for a repair. The check promised is still in the mail now for 6 months. Don't waste your time or money this company is a total fraud. I am currently starting litigation to recover my premium for this year last years I am told I can not recover by my attorney. view less

My complaints are very similar to what has already been written here.... Selected Sensible Home Warranty almost 3 years ago based on the customer reviews posted online. But when I actually needed the service, it took over two weeks to get a technician to service my heating unit. (Of course it stopped working as the Polar Vortex hit... and it snowed, snowed, snowed...) After 6 days of not hearing from a technician, I called SHW to inquire about the service. I was told the first technician they contracted was unavailable for SOME reason, the 2nd did not service my area. It took over a week more to hear from a technician. And the technicians.... The hours are NOT convenient with their hours. I was finally able to get a technician, but the company itself was not on one accord. After speaking with someone, supplying my information, & setting up a service appt, I was told they would confirm it on the Monday of the appt. I called several times, got no one & of course they were a no show.

When someone did finally come out, it was the day after back to back snow storms and I had to sleep elsewhere as it was too cold to sleep in my home. I left a message for the technicians to see if they were going to be able to make the call due to the weather. No response to my message, so I did not risk driving to unplowed streets to sit in a cold home on the hopes someone would show up. But they did show up and of course I was not there. I had to then wait another two days. When the technician did look at my heating unit, he identified issues, one of which included carbon monoxide escaping the unit. BUT he said it should not be a problem since my heating unit was in a room off of the patio & the gas fumes could just go outside... The technician "rigged" the heater so that I would have heat, but he had to check with SHW to see if they covered the work that needed to be done. That was Feb 17, 2014.

THIS is the type of company Sensible Home Warranty contracted. I would call SHW at least once every two weeks to check on the status of this claim. The last time I called is when I got the message that the number was not taking calls. And just like others have posted here, I visited the site to see that it has "shuttered" its operations.

Mr. Harris E. Gindy, President of Sensible Home Warranty, you have operated a very dishonest business and we, the hard working home owners that have placed our faith and money in your hands, deserve more. To not even receive written communication of the closing of this business is just another shady practice from this untrustworthy business. view less

I had 2 claims that they asked me to pay out of my own pockets and I have been asking for reimbursements since Jan 2014. They always gave me the runaround. I just noticed that they went out of business. I paid $730 for 2 years contract plus the money they suppose to pay me back around $2000. How can I go after them? as their creditor? any advice?

I filed a claim with them the first week of January to fix a draining problem with my washing machine. It took two weeks and several calls before they told me to get my own vendor and file for reimbursement. I did everything they required. After several weeks I still had not received my reimbursement. I called again. I was told it was approved and should receive my check soon. I never received it. When I called again I was directed to email their billing/reimbursement department, which I did. I never received a response.

Today I went to the website and to my surprise there is a message saying they are now out of business. I tried to call and while you get the initial recordings, once you choose an extension you are informed the number is not assigned and disconnected.

So, not only am I out my reimbursement, I am out my policy payment as well.

I initially chose Sensible Home Warranty based on good reviews from this website. I think I may be better off without a home warranty policy. view less

Sensible Home Warranty is a total scam outfit. I bought a 3-year policy in September, 2012 for $900, and used it twice. The first time I ended up getting my hot water heater replaced, which was good, but found out later that the plumbing company had enormous difficulty getting reimbursed. They ending up calling Sensible Home Warranty multiple times a day for weeks on end until they finally managed to get paid, and of course vowed never to do business with Sensible again. The second time an electrician fixed a wiring problem, but again wasn't getting reimbursed. The electrician sent letters to me and other Sensible customers he'd done work for, threatening to put a Mechanics Lien on our properties. He didn't want to do that, but felt he had no choice; if he had waited any longer the legal deadline would have passed. After enormous efforts, including me making numerous calls to Sensible to demand they pay him, they finally ponied up.

At that point I cancelled my policy which had two years left on it, and asked for a pro-rata refund as specified in my contract. After several email exchanges, their salesman agreed that I was due the money. But of course they never sent it. I called and emailed repeatedly, and was told it was on its, or that it would take 10 business days, or that the service representative would contact the billing department, but nothing ever happened. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, the supervisor was always at lunch or on break and would call me back later but never did. I'd be given the billing department's phone number and always get it's voicemail and never a call back. I considered filing a small claims court lawsuit, but would have had to try to serve notice in New York (I'm in California) at considerable cost. And even after winning such a lawsuit I probably couldn't have attached any assets to get Sensible to pay the judgement.

So it looks like Sensible Home Warranty will get away with screwing another customer (me). I can only hope that they will quickly go bankrupt before they rip off too many more people, and perhaps one day the company officers will go to jail for fraud. In the meantime, I'll add my voice to the many other warnings, so that potential buyers will know the mess they will be in for and potential contractors will know to avoid Sensible Home Warranty like the plague. view less

I will never use you company again. I have had two policies w/ sensible home warranty for over 4 years but will not be renewing. I have been calling and leaving messages for almost two weeks now. No one returns my calls and when i was able to reach someone in sales they were extremely rude and then transferred me...only to be answered by the call center. I did reach Sam Allen (the original man who sold me on the policies) and he just transferred me and seemed completely annoyed that i dared to bother him. I also have a claim in to be reimbursed (i have all the documentation stating that i was directed to hire my own contractor) however, i have no faith that i will be refunded the money that is legitimately owed to me.

I had a plumbing leak in my home, they were unable to get a plumber out in a timely manner and advised me to hire my own plumber they would reimburse me. I did so and faxed the invoices. First the invoices were not accepted because they were not itemized. New to me... It has been over a month that I have been attempting to get this reconciled. I have made approximately 12 phone calls, sent numerous emails and have had absolutely no response from them. You cannot reach an employee, or a supervisor, or a manger, only the answer service. I tried every number to find and now feel they are ignoring my calls. Because of their commitments and propaganda, I changed from my former warranty program to Sensible, which was not a SENBSIBLE move. I am very unhappy, but would prefer them to talk to me and be up front than to ignore me and make me more upset view less

Over the past two years Sensible Home Warrantys has treated me well. They have replaced a few kitchen appliances as well as our furnace. The service was always pretty on par, with the exception of timeliness. Sometimes it will take longer than you want to get the contractor to your house. It's never more than a week, but it can still cause a kink in your expectations. Aside from that, I have been very happy with their services. view less

This is a very dishonest company with a terrible network of repair techs. One tech they recommended did not have an arrangement worked out with Sensible and others were the bottom of the barrel. Sensible then authorizes you to select your own repair tech, documents how much they will reimburse you and then never pay you. My multiple requests for reimbursement were ignored. Avoid Sensible Home Warranty. It is beyond me how they are rated a top company on this website. view less

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY!!! Attempted to file my first claim Thursday. Was told that someone would call me back within 6 hours. Made 3 attempts in 3 days. The telephone number is for their answering service, not the company. Now the 4th day and no one has called me back. I called my credit card company to reverse the payment. They had the company's phone number (not the answering service) and when they attempted to call, there was no answer. So, I've fired them, but now I have a broken air conditioner for which I'll have to pay the full repair. view less

Awful customer service. I called to file a claim. Nobody in claims actually takes your call, rather you get pushed to a central call center that takes a message and says they'll forward your message to the claims department and a representative will call you back "soon." 4 messages and one email later, not a single person has EVER called me back to take the claim request and send out a repair technician. This warranty company is a scam...I'm a new customer as of February 2014. Also, I was told by the message center rep that SHW claims department employees DO NOT work weekends, so I wouldn't be getting a call back till Monday at the earliest. How can a home warranty company operate like this? What if the claim you had was for a major plumbing problem on a Saturday? I'll be terminating my contract with this company as soon as I can actually talk to a manager (which BTW when I asked the call center folks to speak to one was told there were none available...that was at noon on Friday). After shopping around for a new hot water heater I decided to give Sensible a call to see if they could help. Filing the claim only took a little while and was pretty simple. Eventually we scheduled a time and date for one of their people to come out and assess the problem. This took about 4 days, which was a bit longer than I wanted. The man eventually came in and replaced something on the water heater, which did fix it. My only hang up with their service is that it took almost five days to just have someone come to my house. view less

Sensible employs very helpful and courteous telephone representatives. They also do whatever they can to provide a satisfactory customer experience. Claims people are also courteous but appear to lack the sane customer care posture as the telephone customer representatives. So, first impressions are superior but an ongoing relationship with claims can be greatly improved.

I am trying file a claim for the past 1 week and couldn't reach anyone at all. The phone calls are going to a call center where they say " you will get a call back in 6 hrs" , no body will call back. I called several times and no luck, I sent an email to everyone of that company and still no reponse. Please keep away from this company. I had sensible send some people out to look at the central air system a few weeks back. It wasn't working properly, just functioned as a fan without any heat/cool features. The process was nice and fast, took just a few days and two visits from the repair people. It has been up to snuff since then, so no complaining from me!

This company does not return phone calls, will not send repair person out, will not answer basic questions, and will not honor their contracts. I highly recommend avoiding them and not paying them any money. I have four warranties with them for my four properties and they refuse to answer calls, issue a refund or provide any level of customer service on any of them.
