For over 60 years, Lowe’s has been helping homeowners with home improvement services. Since its inception in 1946 as a small hardware store, Lowe’s has shown tremendous growth over the years.

The company was founded by Carl Buchan, part owner of the Wilkesboro Hardware company, who had the foresight to anticipate a building boom post WW II. Although the company began as a part of a chain of hardware stores that would follow in time, the company expanded to provide warranty services too.

The company currently conducts business not only in most states across the U.S, but also in Canada and Mexico. Lowe’s runs over 1,800 stores across the U.S, Canada and Mexico and carries some of the world’s leading brands in the field of hardware and appliances.

Although the company’s main business is hardware and appliance retail, the company also places significant interests in the sale of extended warranty plans. All their extended appliance protection plans come at zero deductibles and are reasonably priced. Yet another attractive feature is that they offer a Sure Service Guarantee on certain plans,which means that if the company fails to fix your device even after 14 days post filing the claim, the customer receives a one time payment of $25. This feature is available only on select plans.

Lowe’s also has a host of online services for their customers. Hardware products, home decoration pieces and appliances can be purchased from their website. In addition to this, users of Lowe’s extended warranty plans can also file their claim and track the status of their claims through the website. All customers can create an account online and manage claims and other records at convenience.

Lowe’s has several appliance extended warranty plans suited for individual classes of appliances, systems and tools. Following is the list of product/ product classes for which Lowe’s offers warranty plans

All plans provide coverage immediately after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. Damages caused due to but not limited to normal wear and tear and power surges are covered. However, damages due to accidents are not covered.  Lowe’s warranty plans are reasonably priced and starts from around $29 for two year plans.

Finally had a service guy come out after 22 days. I have both a faulty condenser fan and a faulty evap fan. Guy claims he can"hear" the evap fan running which is clearly not the case. I pleaded with him to open the panel(4 quick screws) but he refused. Started off by telling me there was no fa n in the freezer and then when i showed him he said he had never seen that before. Then he tried to blame the lack of air flow on a closed damper and after he realized it was infact opened said again that he could "hear it". Now have an app for the 21st(one full month since contacting lowes) and at that time he will be forced to check it when the condenser replacement doesnt fix the problem. Another fan will be ordered and will take another ten days. I am looking at 40 total days without a refrigerator. BEST case scenario at this point. Lowes uses a third party from the phillipines. They cannot even tell me the name of the contractor that a lowes SA supervisor scheduled to come out. Absolutely the worst service. I used to like lowes but I will never shop with them again. They accept zero accountability view less

Don’t do it! Yes I fell for the Lowe’s protection plan on a gas lawn mower. Close to the end of the so call protection plan, I brought it in because it wasn’t running well. First they have you sign a sheet that states you will pay them if they consider the repair is not covered and they won’t send your item for service unless you sign it so you have no choice. So I did and then they tried to charge me $90 because they said the lawn mower got clogged with grass and damaged the filter and spark plug. They called this maintenance work, so is not cover, only normal wear and tear is covered they said so I left the lawn mower there and never looked back. Hopefully they will go bankrupt soon so they stop stealing money. view less

Bought the 5 year warranty from Lowe's for our Samsung French door refrigerator. This model has an ice maker both on the door and in the freezer drawer. We have been dealing with the door ice maker failing to get cold enough to keep the ice frozen resulting in water leaking out the door. Each part of the ice maker has been replaced at least 2x by the same repair company. The last 3 visits the repair company continued to say if they had to come out again, they would report the product as unrepairable. Now, "Reliable Repairs" are saying they cannot say that the product cannot be repaired. So, I will be contacting Lowe's tomorrow to see what they can do. When I bought the warranty, they said if they had to come out more than 3x for the same problem, they would replace the whole refrigerator, no questions asked. When I inquired about it recently...they said that the ice maker would not constitute replacing the whole refrigerator. The problem is that it's leaking water onto my floors. I bought Lowe's 5 year protection plan along with my LG Refrigerator. Few weeks ago, its display panel broke because of manufacturing issue. Now, the bottom area of the panel is hard read. We bought a Samsung washer and dryer from Lowe’s. The washer had a dent in the drum after a few months and it was on the recall list. Lowe’s and Samsung gave us the credit for that. Now on to the dryer. It’s defective and dangerous. It is only 2 years old. Lowe’s sent a tech out and said there was nothing wrong with it. I called Lowe’s again. They sent a second tech out from a different company who said there were multiple things wrong, and he’d order parts. That was over a month ago. No call no show. So I called Lowe’s today, and apparently the “parts are on back order”. Bottom line is they are not honoring this expensive warranty, this is fraud. Husband is a retired firefighter and state fire inspector, and he can attest this is dryer is dangerous. Lowe’s is doing Nothing. Don’t buy appliances or an extended warranty from Lowe’s! If you need to use their extended warranty, they will find a loophole out of their warranty. Not to mention the longggggggg wait times and holds having to call them numerous time! They stall you on the line waiting , at least an hour to then come back with another excuse. They got our money for not only 2 defective appliances, but for an extended warranty too. view less

Awful. I wish I read the reviews prior to purchasing this plan. Save your money and more importantly you time on waiting on service, on phone, etc. They have an excuse for everything. The companies they send are low budget and unprofessional. I'll go to Home Depot from now on. Thanks Lowes

Do not bother with the protection plan. They are terrible with how long they take to fix things. Usually takes more than one visit. They then do not honor what they say they will do for you. The pamphlet and website says it would cover food spoilage up to 300. They refused with proof of loss well over the amount. They twist words, don't call back when they say they will, they lie. They really should be sued for fraud. They scheduled us on a day the repair people were closed. They rescheduled us without telling us so the guy showed up when we weren't home. The only reason we have chosen LOWES so man times is based on their credit program but that's not worth this headache. I see a class action suit in the future. view less

we purchased a pressure washer August 27 of 2017. 3 weeks ago it stopped running after about 60 hours of run time. We also purchased the extended warranty at the original time of purchase . it should be noted we use this equipment fir a small business and spends thousands of dollars a year at this store in Lavake Ms. we returned the equipment on the day if break down and was informed that in replacement could be accomplished and that th equipment would be sent out repair type following Thursday. 7 days. we signed a paper saying that if it was determined that user error was the fault it could cost up to 125 to repair. Today wenwentnto puckmuo the pressure washer and of course it was determined to be user error and 61 dollars in labor charges and 20 dollars in delivery charges and the pressure washer was NOT repaired. Customer service could only give the warranty phone number and provided. No resolution. DO NIT PURCHASE EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM LOWES. view less

Have a Samsung dryer under protection plan warranty. I called when it wouldn’t turn on. It took 1 1/2 weeks for a technician who showed up 2 hours late without parts to fix it and now I have to wait another 1 1/2 weeks for them to come back with parts to hopefully fix (he showed up alone not sure what the oribjem is and sets he has to have help from another technician when he comes back). Very disappointed in Lowe’s. Three weeks !! Won’t be renewing any more with them view less

Samsung front loader has been inop for 2wks with no end in sight. Lowe's' warranty Dept is lame and full of excuses and offer no corrective action. Will not recommend Samsung products nor would I purchase Lowe's Extended Warranties in the future.

Customer service DOES NOT EXIST. Hours on the phone this afternoon getting bounced around and nobody can help me. This is beyond frustrating. The reps I’ve spoken to are mostly idiots. I’ve had to explain the situation over and over to people that are unable to help me. This shouldn’t be my problem, but somehow it is.

There is one star for everything because I could not do half or "0" stars. I am sending a letter to the CEO tomorrow, priority mail.
We have an LG French Door Fridge, <2 yrs. old, and we have a 3-yr. extended warranty. It went out wed night/thurs morning- I called the 24 hr. #, in another country...they had me reset the temps, then said to open the freezer door 3 times, and wait 4-6 hours before calling Lowes.

We are going on 3 days of no fridge, over 2 hours of phone calls to supervisors and lackeys in stores, just TODAY.

The horrible contracted repair company came on day 2, looked for 5 minutes with a flashlight, and said they would order parts but it would be 5-6 days, and even then, they may not be qualified to install. I heard this around 1:30 PST and started calling supervisors...Jason and Maggie, who took our name, phone #, did nothing that was a solution to our lack of fridge. Jason said he would get us a loaner and someone would call me.

That happened, then the (store) appliance lackey wanted all our information, receipt et al, and relayed to me he just got a corporate email telling him to get us a loaner, I followed his instructions, made a copy of the receipt, emailed a sample while on the phone, which he confirmed, then I sent him all he asked of me. No response. Nothing, Nada, zilch.

Maggie, #2 got us another tech, this time an LG one coming Monday, that will be day 5 without a fridge. What is wrong with this picture????

Tomorrow I send a priority mail to the President/CEO (who is stepping down) detailing this sham of a retail SNAFU.
Reimbursing us for food, fine- but what do we do without a fridge? where do we put the broken one if a new one shows up- I was told by Jason supervisor, 'that's my problem.'

And so, we head into the weekend with no solution, no help and no fridge. We spent $2500 on this LG fridge. ARE YOU KIDDING ME, with this customer non-service???

Last but not least, the forever optimist, I tried one more time...this time "Jack" said, 'as bad as I feel for you, no one is available in-Service Advantage until 8am EST Sat.'
And Jason said, '..even one day without a fridge in unacceptable.' Well, it seems that it is!

We will see if I contact newspapers and tv stations, next.
Day 3, a weekend, no fridge. Will we also get paid a per diem for having to eat take out?

Why has no one offered to REPLACE THE FRIDGE???

I have had my Fridgidaire refrigerator worked on many times in the past year. It hasn't been bad but they all say I need to empty my ice so it doesn't drip.
Now the compressor fan will not shut off at all. They sent someone, he didn't know, he said he would call back on Monday. Haven't heard and it's been 2 weeks. Called Lowes and they said the company called them and said it was normal operation so they will not send someone else out to check it. We will need to pay. She told me this morning that they don't have other companies to send, they are all busy. I called one that has been here before and they have openings this week. They are coming tomorrow afternoon and I will need to pay.
I don;t know how it is normal now and wasn't before they put on another part.
I will not do this again with Lowes. view less

I bought a Troy-Bilt TB30R riding lawn mower from Lowes, including a Lowes extended 4-yr. warranty.
It was delivered October 11, 2017, and broke down with a cracked engine block October 12, 2017. I called the warranty service (877-77 LOWES), and they scheduled a pickup for repair date three weeks later, November 3, 2017.
No one showed up to pick up the mower. I called their contact number and it was disconnected. I called Lowes warranty center, they couldn't reach the pickup crew by telephone either, and at first offered another pickup three more weeks later.
I explained to the customer service representative that my lawn was growing, six weeks to pickup is a long time, and she suggested I have the mower repaired by a local Troy-Bilt service under the manufacturer's warranty. Then file for reimbursement via email with Lowes warranty service.
She emailed me a claim form (attached) which I filed via email November 15, 2017. All of those documents are attached.
Lowes warranty service owes me reimbursement for (see claim form):
Delay of repair service beyond two weeks ($50)
Pickup service charge for repair ($45)
Rental of a backup mower (loss of use) ($34.53).

It has been 5 months, many telephone calls, and the claim has not been processed. There is a different excuse each time I call as to why it has been moved to the bottom if the inbox, or has been deactivated.
At the conclusion of one of the telephone calls, the customer service representative told me, "Don't call us again, we will call you when it is settled."
If you look at Lowes feedback on this product, toggle "most relevant" to "lowest to highest rating", you will see a pattern in non-payment/non-processing of extended warramty claims.

There are many great reviews which is why I bought it. But if you select the worst reviews, they are all people who have had problems with the product, and have struggled for months with Lowes warranty service to no avail. See attachment for some of these consumer comments on warranty service.
It seems they collect the warranty fee ($200), maintain a courteous but powerless customer relations department, but never process claims.

All these reviews made me worried till I used it and I am proud to say, my LG is fixed and they paid me for the food loss. I got the plan for 5 years. Nothing last like it use too only reason I took it out. Lowes has nothing to do with how the product is made but they do stand behind their warranties till it is fixed. I had some bad repairman once but it wasn't Lowes fault and I reported them to them so they would know. Next one was good. I still haven't got the ice maker to close automatic but it works good. My compressor went out that is the manufacture faults not Lowes and I got a new one put in and I hope it is made better than the last one. I hope Lowes lets me buy an extended warranty later just in case I need them again. The more advanced we get the less reliable products are that is just a fact. Too much technology makes more problems than when things were made simple and easy to fix. I had to wait about 2 weeks but they aren't God they can't be everyone at an instant you got to wait in line so they can fix as they come in. You wouldn't need a warranty or a fix if things were built to last forever. view less

This is a scam! I have received 2 letters offering to sell me an extended warranty on appliances I have never purchased from Lowe's or anyone else. When I called the number they said just ignore it but I got another letter this week, about 1 month after the first. If I were not more on top of it I could have paid for this and not realized that it was all a scam. I contacted the warranty very sweet took my case had a tech out in 2days..Tech showed up 45mins after 8-12 frame took a pic walked out did not speak. I purchase a refrigerator was knockdown 1 month after i bout it, and it was down for almost 2 moths.
They had me rent a refrigerator, they said i could rent it from any where when i send the reimbursement form they did not want to reimburse me for it.

I have had the worst experience with the lowes extended warranty. told they were coming out one day to fix it and never see them or hear from them. finally got a tech to come out and order the parts to fix my dryer and he ordered the wrong parts and never come back to fix or order the right parts. then called them today and somehow my account doesn't show up anymore and they pretty much tell me I'm a liar. This coverage has so far covered nothing that has gone wrong. Our fridge handle broke off in my hands as I went to open the fridge, and a stove knob broke off as I tried to turn in the stove, plastic parts that I now have to pay to replace. Customer service has cut me off rather than transferring me. So far warranties have covered nothing that's gone wrong. My father in law bought us a washer as a gift when our old one quit working. He purchased a 3 year warranty for us as well. We purchased another year warranty from Lowes as the current one was about to expire. And we are so glad we did. Our washer was malfunctioning and not working as it should. Lowes repair service came out several times and made necessary repairs. Then we received a call from them saying it would cost too much to complete the final repair; and they are refunding the entire purchase price to us; so we can buy a new washer of our choice.
