    Review: I called in to submit my claim and was waiting for the small print as to why my appliance was not covered - it was a second refrigerator located in my garage. But that was not the case at all. The representative said "yes, that is covered" and then asked "are there any other appliances that require repair". Wow - amazing. Then it was the day of the repair. The company that was sent out came within 15 min of the scheduled time, was very polite and helpful about how to maintain appliances properly to extend their lifespan. !00% satisfied.

    Review: The customer service is great while submitting a claim and then letting me know that parts were ordered and when they should arrive. The experience that I had this time was much better than the last time that I had a claim, which tells me that the comments/complaints that I made last time did help. The repair company/technicians were the best that I ever had and explained everything as they replaced parts and repaired the problem. To improve even further and fix the problem faster, it would be nice to get a part locally and a tracking number if it is not at a local supplier for the repair company and the homeowner.

    Review: My last service call dealt with the heater part of my GAS-PAK HVAC. The contractor came immediately but had to order the part. Once the part came in, they were able to work all day and put it in. No more problems there.

    Review: Our contractor, Harbor Point A/C, contacted me early the next morning and had the service agent on his way to correct our problem. Can't ask for better service than that. This is the second time this contractor has responded almost immediately. Very impressive. Problem was solved quickly and the A/C is working properly.

    Review: In the month of December, we had really crazy weather, varying as much as 40-50 degrees from one day to the next. I think this took a hard toll on our heating system and it decided to quit on us. It was my first experience with AHS and I was not sure what to expect as far as service on their end or on their contractor's end. I was going to submit the service request online, but I didn't have any of the details for the equipment. So I decided to call instead. I went through the automated system. I was surprised how easy the process was, and I did not get frustrated with the automated system, as I usually do when calling other businesses. I was told that I would get a call from a contractor within 48 hours. I got a call the next morning from a contractor! I had never heard of this contractor (Harbor Mechanical), so I was unsure of how they would be. He asked if he could come by that day. Of course, I said yes! He came and assessed the situation. I had heard horror stories from neighbors that had the same situation from other contractors. So I was glad that it was a different company. He was very polite and explained the situation very clearly. He also gave me tips on how to keep the house warmer, even with our high ceilings. He wasn't sure how long it would take for the part to come in, but he said he would try to get it by the end of the week (it was then Tuesday). But he said he couldn't promise that, but he would try since I mentioned that I had guests coming to town. I got a call from him on Thursday, asking if he could stop by and install the part! I was in shock! Of course, I again said yes. He was here for about 2 hours. He left and the unit was working again! I would have never expected this quick of service, especially in the winter where this seemed to be happening a lot in our area. I am very impressed and have recommended AHS to my friends and family.

    Review: Our A/C went out and it took over a month for it to be replaced due to insufficient system repairs and inspections, delays in warranty approval, more delays from A/C installers to get everything together. Would have given 5 stars across the board had it just been a week or two quick getting replaced. New system works great and the home warranty is definitely worth the money and patience.

    Review: I recently experienced a problem with my washing machine. I used the on-line feature to notify American Home Shield. The next morning a ptotntial repairman had been located, however due to the projected wait for the service man(2days) i opted for another repairman who came that afternoon. The customer rep. was all about getting my problem taken care of as soon as possible. The repairman was polite and professional. This is the type of service that assures my continuing support of AHS as one of their customers

    Review: CONSUMER BEWARE: American Home Shield Warranty is a waste of your time and money. The only reason I attempted to use them was that a warranty was included in the sale of our house. They use ambiguities in the contract to justify sending out a representative and charging you $75 before any service is provided. Then they proceed to tell you that your repair is not covered, but you still owe the $75. If something is covered, they find a way to cover only portion of the repair limiting their liability. This is a catch-22 because in most cases you do not know whether anything is covered in the first place. Save your time and money and go directly through a licensed repair person. I will never be giving American Home Shield Warranty a penny of my money ever again and suggest you do the same.

    Review: I've had an AHS warranty on for the last 15 years. They replaced the 27-yr-old heat pump after arguing a lot, but I only had to pay $350 for upgrading the wiring ($4K replacement). I almost always have more repairs than the warranty costs me and usually I have no problems with the techs or AHS. I've had an issue since 2008 with a dishwasher and I've had several different contractors say it's just bad engineering. After much arguing with AHS's "customer service" folks and being told they would not be replacing it, I called to cancel and lo and behold, someone from Customer Retention came into the picture. It's taken 2 weeks and another 2 evaluations from contractors and I got the word today they'll be replacing the dishwasher. I have another week to decide if I'm going to let the AHS renew or cancel it and buy elsewhere. In short, they'll replace stuff if you gripe hard enough and threaten to cancel. They did replace my microwave for a bulb connector issue, but only after it took six months to decide they couldn't get the part for repair.

    Review: Had a compressor go out on my refrigerator. Called up my Home shield number and they hooked me up with a contractor. Within a few days he was out and replaced the compressor. Only had to pay for my deductible. /

    Review: This is absolutely the worst warranty company I have ever used. I own 2 homes and AHS has been difficult to deal with from the start. I bought a preventative maintenance contract from them for my heat pump and once that was done, I have had problems with that heat pump for the past 2 winters. As of this date, my heat pump has not been working for 2 days and AHS assigned a contractor that that not only tore up my yard, they have not fixed the problem. After waiting all morning for them to call me, I called them and was told they had to order parts and have no clue when they will be here. This contractor has been to my house no less than 4 times and AHS could care less. Each time that I have called AHS, I am on hold for at least 15 minutes before a representative responds.

    Review: I have only used the warranty once for a washing machine repair. I had no problems calling in the repair and getting a repair man to call, schedule and complete the work to my satisfactory, so far so good! It certainly eases the mind of a homeowner to be able to use this when needed!

    Review: Contractor arrived late but called to advise he was stuck in traffic. When contractor arrived, he was courteous, efficient and quickly diagnosed the problem (garage door malfunctioned). Contractor had the tools and parts to fix the door and noticed another possible problem which I had him repair outside of my home warranty. Contractor advised me of costs for repair and quickly finished the woor. Clean up was complete.

    Review: Furnace died 12/3. AHS instructed us to call a local contractor and they would reimburse us. Contractor came that day and diagnosed the problem. AHS gave him such a runaround he called to say he couldn't help us and would never deal with AHS again. We're now on the hook for his service call but no repair. AHS gave our case to their "preferred contractor on 12/4" They called us on 12/7 to tell us they'd be by on 12/8. This is now our fifth day without heat and no resolution in sight. We call and ask AHS to help us out and the guarantee that we won't be charged two service calls, but all we get is "we're sorry"--after being on hold for up to an hour. A home warranty is a nice idea in concept, but when they deliberately work to drive you away, it's a ripoff! I wouldn't recommend doing business with American Home Shield.

    Review: PURCHASED CHAIN SAW AND ENGINE STALLED AND COULD NOT START. TOOK TO LOWES & SAID ENGINE BAD BECAUSE I LET WATER GET INTO ENGINE. NEVER STORED OUTSIDE OR USED IN THE RAIN. THE CHAIN SET UP FOR 5 MONTHS WITHOUT USE. THIS IS THE 3RD EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED AND NEVER COVERED.
