American Home Shield (AHS)
I requested service for a leaking water heater. The contractor said I would have to pay $325 out of pocket because they want to replace copper pipes that have no damage and do not leak. I said no, let’s wait to see what AHS says about the diagnosis. He said he would submit the info and AHS would call me. Well, that was a week ago and now I have no hot water and had not heard from AHS. I called and was placed on hold while they contacted the contractor. I was told they had not submitted the analysis to AHS yet! So here I sit with no hot water and am STILL waiting a week after my service request for an answer. I don’t agree with the need for pipe replacement but regardless, AHS has not made any attempt to contact the plumber to get a status until today when I called to get a status. Also, I contacted someone via live chat and was told I declined the repair then they disconnected. I absolutely did not decline the repair, I have only stated I wanted to hear from AHS to find out what they wanted to do about being forced to replace working pipes that don’t leak. I am not going to renew my contract and I will be contacting YELP and writing a review so people will know what they can plan on with this company. They claim to cover everything but they really don’t and they don’t follow up on open service requests. Thanks for nothing AHS.

Lowe’s Protection Plans
Run as fast as you can to Home Depot or Spencers. The warranty sucks. We bought the 5 year extended warranty for our Samsung double door refrigerator. It stopped making ice both in the upper ice and the lower ice machine. Water wouldn\'t come out either. Lots of noise in the upper ice part. They had to get ahold of a company in CA that would do the service. First the repairman came out and he determined that the upper ice was freezing but not putting out water or ice. He ordered a part and when it came he put it in and checked it out. It didn't work. So he said he would get ahold of the repair company and have them send the lower ice mechanism hoping that was it. That didn't work. The third try he had them send a computer panel for the for the front of the door as he said it didn't work. A couple of weeks later we got a computer for the back of the refrigerator. Guess what...it didn't work so he said it would a new door. He ordered it and then the fun came. First of all the repair company said there wasn't a work order for the door, but it would take up to 6 weeks to get it. Now they said it wasn't covered under the part that if they can't fix it you would get money or a new refrigerator. They came back with the reason it wasn't coming is because it was 4 different problems, not just one eliminating us from a replacement. The appliance company said they would need a new work order. When we called Lowes they said it would be taken care of. Now today my husband gets an email stating we need a picture of the refrigerator with the model and serial which he did. They left a message to text them. The answer we got was first in spanish? and then they wanted him to call a number which didn't work. I tried later and someone told me that they knew nothing about this. We are so frustrated. Why after talking with Lowes and them they think it was never broken. We're looking into going to small claims court. Don't buy their 5 year warranty. Ours is only 2 years old..

Old Republic Home Protection
We had this company for years. When it finally came time to use them they found any and every loophole to get out of paying for anything. For example they declined a claim for our dishwasher stating that it was installed incorrectly. Not sure how something installed incorrectly worked perfectly for 6 years. They have horrible customer service. I emailed, called, and sent certified letters with no reply. They just ignore you until you go away.

I\'m VERY unhappy with AHS. I live in Arizona with 115 temps and I called in our broken AC unit on Wednesday and Polar Bear tech came to my house on Friday and did nothing. Now it\'s Monday still no word from AHS or Polar Bear. Called AHS and was told "Sorry" Polar Bear didn\'t call in work order yet. Told them I had a different company come out that can repair ASAP and quoted me $1300 and wondered if I would be reimbursed and was told NO since they aren't contracted. So basically my children and animals will suffer the heat. This company is a joke!

WORST EVER... Asked me to pay out of pocket up front and would reimburse me for A/C repairs. This is unacceptable when I have a contract and it defeats the whole purpose of even having a contract, the point being I don't have the money UPFRONT to pay out so American Home Shield can reimburse me. Yeah, right like they would reimburse me...not. Liars, cheats and thieves. Look elsewhere for your home warranty because you won't get one from American Home Shield.

American Home Shield (AHS)
I got a call from my tenant in one of my covered houses stating that there was water leaking from the kitchen sink. I drove the 40 miles to my rental and determined the leak had to be from under the strainer basket. picked one up at local hardware store and properly installed only to find water still leaking. Rubbed a little rust spot on the bottom of a 6 year old stainless steel sink and could see daylight through a pin sized hole. I didn't have my contract so called AHS service department and spoke with an agent named Robert. I specifically told him that the leak was through the sink and not from any pipe. I suspected AHS might not cover the sink. Robert put me on hold twice to verify coverage and then told me that the repair "WOULD BE COVERED" so I went ahead and placed a service request. AHS contacted and scheduled their contractor to make the service call. I again traveled the 40 miles to meet the contractor, who after a total of 5 minutes surveying the problem told me AHS would contact me concerning the repair. The next day AHS called and informed me that sinks were not covered under the contract. I told the agent that the phone agent had told me specifically that the sink was covered. I, of course, was very upset. I asked to speak to a supervisor, the agent replied none were available, that she would pass on my complaint and their standard policy was to pull the tape (they have the standard message that call may be recorded for clarity)and if it was determined that the original service agent had incorrectly told me the repair would be covered then AHS would cover the repair. I asked how long that would take she said "4 hours". Having no reply contact from AHS, I called back the next day, this agent told me it would take four days. Well, it has been over 6 weeks now, I have called weekly threatening to cancel my policy and am told that they haven't reviewed the tapes which I believe is bullcrap and they just hope I will go away. Every time I have called I have asked to speak with a supervisor and none has ever been available, I wonder do they exist. I have Fidelity National coverage on my personal residence and have never had any issue with a claim them. If my AHS issue isn't resolved by the end of the week, I will indeed cancel my policy and make formal complaints to the AZ AG and the BBB.
