Fair and reliable. Always repaired or replaced everything to my satisfaction. There are many reviews online that complain about warranty companies, but my experiences with AHS have all been positive. All transactions are done online and the response times have been really solid, particularly during these difficult times in a post pandemic world.

The repair company called us the same day. They had to wait for a part. The installation was quick. AHS has always sent us professional contractors. We only have to pay on price that makes it easy to budget our repairs.

had AHS do two repairs, one was the garage door computer board in 2017 & the other was the home lock cylinders in 2018 , both companies hired by AHS were excellent with high ratings & did great jobs in fixing the issues, no complaints

American Home Shield (AHS)

I had nothing but problems getting American Home Shield to authorize a repair based on their contracted A/C service company. It took over 2 weeks for them to finally authorize service. Having to wait for service in Phoenix with temps topping 100 degrees is very difficult. This was only after posting several messages on their Facebook page. I strongly doubt when the year is up that I will renew.

I have never had good response when speaking with someone, know one follows up. We made a complaint against a plumber who almost caused severe damage to our recirc pump on our water heater by not turning the water back on and there wasn\'t much good follow up. It was a hassle. We have had good service from most of the contractors that you have sent. We hope the premiums do not continue to climb.

When my air conditioner went down AMS was there for me and that helped me and my Service Dog endure the Summer here in Az. We are both very Thankful to be a customer of AHS. When renew time came along I jumped to renew on-line, but ran into an issue. AHS only allows payment to be made by credit cards. No bank checking account, no Debit Cards, just a lousy credit card. Why hinder your service by limiting payment choices? The best way to protect yourself from heavy repair bills and keeping your home investment safe, secure. Personally, I wouldn't want not to have AHS.

Terrible customer service, they do not follow through with what they say they will, and they changed their story. I called in on a Monday to request maintenance on a leaking hot water heater. I had not gotten a call from a tech until the next day, which is fine because I expected that they would fix it that day as well. When the tech called, they scheduled the plumber to come out on Wednesday. We're now looking at 48 hours with a leaking water heater which is in my garage, which shares a wall with my living room. I called ORHW to express my frustrations with the time it was taking to be taken care of and told them about the water damage (which wouldn't be there if it had been fixed on Monday or early Tuesday). They basically said it's my problem now because water damage is secondary--which I understand, however, the water damage wouldn't be there if they had put a higher priority on the service. Which brings me to my next part: the woman I spoke with on Tuesday admitted that it was processed as "regular" service call when it should have been processed as "priority." She advised that she would change the plumber to a 24 hour plumber and would have a supervisor call me Wednesday morning about my concerns of the water damage. Wednesday morning rolled around and the new plumber showed up right away, however I never received a call from a supervisor. The plumber contacted ORHP to verify that the new water heater would be covered and that removal would be taken care of, which it was. He also advised them of the water damage, and ORHP told him they would contact me. ORHP then called me to verify that the water damage was my problem now even though they took 2 days to get someone to my house. I told her that I was upset that they scheduled it as regular instead of priority, which resulted in my water damage. This is where she changes the story and says that it was scheduled as a "priority" service the entire time and was never "regular." I asked her if I should have placed more urgency on the leak when I called the first time. She said they have standards they go through when placing priorities on service calls, so they will place it as they see fit. I advised her that I will not be renewing my home warranty when the time comes and she said nothing--obviously they do not care about their customers because they already have my money and my service. This company is terrible. Find someone else!

Old Republic Home Protection

This company is a big scam. My first year was free because I just bought my house. I signed up on their premium plan for the second year because I thought it was a good idea. Big mistake. My air conditioner has gone out 5 times now in two summers. The repairman just patch it good enough to get it running. the air conditioning motor is pulling way too many amps and burning up the wire connectors. I've also had to run capacitors burnout and my fuse box blow up. needs a new condenser motor but they won't fix it. Also the racks in my dishwasher are all rusted. I called them up and they said I had the premium membership and the racks are covered for rust. Their technician came out and took one picture of the racks and charge me $55 and left. He didn't ask me if the dishwasher was leaving rust stains on my glasses and he didn't run a cycle to check for rust stains himself. He said old republic would give me a call and let me know what they're going to do. They called me up and said they don't cover rust on the racks. So they just basically ripped me off for another $55. So I spent five hundred and fifty dollars for a year worth of coverage and $270 for their technicians and I still have a bad air conditioner and dishwasher.

This company is a rip off, many of the contractors they use are unreliable and incompetant. I feel that they automatically deny all claims made and if you call them out multiple times you may get lucky where they actually approve something. I have made 5 service calls to them over the last year and only one of them was approved. As of today I am canceling my existing plans with them as they only prolong the repair process which I end up having to pay for anyhow.
