My husband is in the military and has received official DoD orders for us to relocate across country. As such, we are in the process of selling our home. I called AHS to terminate our home warranty, because they do not allow you to terminate service online... The process goes like this: you call, wait on hold, then get transferred around to a few departments, until you finally reach the Cancellation Department. There is apparently only one person who works in this department, he does not have a supervisor, and he has all the power. After explaining my situation, he asked if I wanted to transfer our service to our new home; I do not want to transfer service because a home warranty is included in the purchase of our new home. He then asked if I wanted to transfer service to the people who are buying our home; Again, a home warranty is included for the people buying our home and they specifically requested a different company. Apparently he was displeased with this, so he told me that I would incur a "cancellation fee". I explained that he cannot charge us a cancellation fee per the Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act. He refused to acknowledge this. I asked for his supervisor and he told me that he does not have one. After realizing that this person is unwilling to work with me, I told him to just cancel my policy and I will contest the charge with my credit card company. He then informed me he will be assessing an additional "administrative fee" against my account. I told him again that I would just contest those charges as well. He then started demanding my authorization for these additional charges against my card on file, or he cannot cancel my policy. By the time I ended our phone call, he still refused to cancel my policy. Immediately after, I called my credit card company and had them block this merchant from initiating charges against my card. Buyer beware!

Lowe’s Protection Plans
I purchased 3 major appliances from Lowes, Their Extended warranty sucks, I\'ve my washer has had 3 issues, I had to wait and go without a washer for weeks while waiting for someone just to come out AND look at it. then be told oh we have to order the part another week, and then the drain on the washer went out, a very RUDE REPAIR GUY came out he was an hour late and in a bad mood, and finally found the problem only to tell the warranty people it was our fault the drain motor went out because of neglect ??? so our warranty was void because this guy was in a bad mood . so we called and complained absolutely NO response from Lowes cost us over $300.00 to find a outside repair person to fix our washer, and why buy a warranty then??

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This is the absolute WORST experience I have EVER experienced. I pid $75 separate fees for vendors to come to my home I just purchased. Hardly anything is covered ans when something is covered, your company’s ability at follow through, customer sedvice, claims approval and timely communication is HORRENDOUS. I have spent at least 20 hours this week on the phone between you and just 1 vendor. You cancel my requests, you cancel the vendors part request approvals, and I am the one left to follow up with multiple phone calls to get stuff done. Nothing is covered. I spent over $1300 out of pocket on AC repairs. I have smashed in electoral plugs with live wires exposing in my young children’s rooms that you don’t cover, on top of a million other issues. The wait time on the phone is 30+ minutes each call. You can’t understand the employees. This company is horrible and I’m looking to change ASAP.

My whole house fan was not working properly. AHS referred me to Jaeger Electric. Was not happy with Jaeger Electric. The technician spent less than 5 minutes looking at my house fan and stated I needed a new motor and that he would have to get it approved by AHS. Technician told me to call him in 3 days for the status. I called Jaeger Electric after 3 days and left message and received no call back. Tried calling again for a few days and again did not receive call back. Called AHS explained my problem. AHS informed me that Jaegar Electric closed my work order and stated that my whole house fan was working properly which was not true. AHS referred me to another electrician, City First Electric. They came down the following day and fixed the problem. It was not the motor that needed to be replaced it was the capacitor. I would not recommend Jaeger Electric. Dishonest company and their customer service very poor. Highly recommend City First Electric.

Noticed water coming from the emergency drain pipe near my roof. I logged into my account and placed the claim that evening. It took almost the full 24 hours before I was contacted by the assigned company near me. The appointment was set for the next day. The company made the repair (although the repairs, in the case, was not covered by the warranty) and I was back in business. Overall nearly two days without A/C but it was not miserable and the overall experience was fine. I'm still happy to have AHS even though it cost me the deductible and the cost of the repair.

Had a hot water issue in our second bathroom - turns out it was a cartridge that needed replacing. Plumber came out, identified the problem, ordered the part and promptly stopped by to install. Great service

Called them for a plumbing problem they were fast to get back to me but the plumber that came was not local they cut the hole in the wall and left to get approval. The plumber said that the job required moving pipes to the tune of $485 above what AHS covered (which was not true). 3 weeks later the wall was still not fixed with the plumber saying he needed to order parts. My husband called the Emergency Plumbing to see what was going on and the guy hung up on him. Tired of waiting we called a local plumber who came out the same day did the job for $169 with out modifying any pipes. We called back AHS to cancel the plumber and find out about getting the wall patched which took them 2 more weeks to have them tells us that they could not find a contractor in our area to do the job. I asked for a pay out so I could find someone but it was not enough to cover to have it repaired. Called back to customer service got another person who found someone in our area and it was finally done. It was not a good experience. My sister-in-law has the same company for 20 years and has never had a problem like this I will give it one more try if the same I will leave and try another company. I feel that if Emergency Plumbing did not want to do the job because it was to far away (1 hour 45 minutes)they should have told AHS instead of making us wait and wait and wait! Emergency Plumbing is the worst company ever and they lied about the work that needed to be done and how much they would have charged us if we were not with AHS which was $120. AHS needs to find local workman not ones that are 1 1/2 or more hours away even the drywall company was local to me but all their jobs were 1 to 2 or more hours away.

I was very impressed with the contractor that came last week to service my gas water heater, I received a call to let me know when I could expect the serviceperson. He arrived just as I was told. He also called 30 minutes prior to arriving to confirm again. He was neat, professional and was in a nice clean company vehicle. His company name was on his shirt. Not only did he repair the problem, he gave a reason for the problem. The last individual just re-lit the pilot light when servicing the water heater last fall and apparently did not check to see what may have caused it. In fairness, I may have told him I thought water may have flooded the flame. However, this gentlemen on my most recent service call took the unit apart did a thorough examination cleaned the unit, removed all the soot and I had hot running water for a nice hot shower.

I had American Home Shield for years. However, end of July or very early August in 2014, I requested home service for a dishwasher and refrigerator. I paid the $75 for the repair person. He submitted his report and AHS said the dishwasher was our fault, thus not covered, but the refrigerator qualified and the parts were ordered. The serviceman said they would be out in 10 working days. Two weeks passed and the parts were still not available. On September 5, 2014, we moved 1.5 miles from our old house. On or about September 10 we got a call from the repairman saying our parts came in and wanted to effect the repair. I then advised him that we had just moved and our new address is.... They put me on hold and contact AHS who said the refrigerator was no longer covered because we had moved. Made on difference how far or even the fact the parts took more like a month than the 10 days. Had the parts came in on time, the repair would have been done, but since it was their fault, the problem was we had moved and that negated the contract. American Home Shield took my monthly payment for years, but when it came to actually service the account they FAILED!!!!! miserably. I have filed a complaint with the US Consumer Affairs, along with the Better Business Bureau, and they contacted us saying the complaint would remain in file, but it was up to American Home Shield to make it right. I left many messages with AHS and none were returned. I requested the contract be cancelled and it took them around 6 months to facilitate the request. They only refunded 1 month premium. BEWARE TO ALL WHO WANT TO ENROLL WITH AHS. I have since gone to another company and am extremely happy. They were cheaper on monthly premium, and service call payment.

See my husbands comment. The initial request for service was excellent, very quick and responsive. The field technician was also very polite and efficient. But when it came time to facilitate the repair they said NO!! because we moved even though it was only 1.5 miles away, the refrigerator was still needing the same repairs, the parts did not come in when they said it would, thus it being their fault. In the meantime we had moved, and because we had moved and no other reason, they denied to fix the problem. Even though it was only 1.5 miles and the technician could have verified no further damage was done and the original repairs were still needed and warranted. Like my husband, I also placed numerous calls to sales and they would transfer me to a supervisor who was NEVER IN, thus messages were left and Never answered. I can almost guarantee, the same will happen to you when you move. GOOD LUCK to all who have AHS because one day will affect you. I WOULD NEVER, EVER REFER THEM TO MY FAMILY OR FRIENDS. I care about them too much. Several have wanted to sign with AHS, but when they heard our story they elected not to purchase an AHS contract.
