American Home Shield (and other home warranty companies) are complicit in the home warranty repair service scam. My clothes washer bearing was failing. I filed a claim and was charged $100 for the service call. AHS assigned a service company to the claim. Their technician agreed that the bearing was bad and would order one and replace it later. The appliance service provider then reported to AHS that the washer was working fine and didn't need repairs. AHS then promptly closed the claim. When I asked why, they said the appliance repair company reported the washer was noisy, but working, and that they didn't cover noisy machines (seriously). If I wanted a second opinion, it would be another $100. I received the name of the second company, but declined the service. When I looked up reviews of these two appliance repair companies, the vast majority of complaints were similar to mine. Technicians showing up, diagnosing the problem, then lying to AHS that there was nothing to be done. This practice of assigning poor service companies who simply want to collect a quick fee and not do the repair is very common throughout the country. These service providers know that the home warrant company won't challenge their opinion. The warranty company and the service provider got their service fees and that's all that matters. If they allowed the customer to choose their own service provider, then the scam could be broken. The home warranty industry would lose a great deal of money though having to actually pay for all the repair claims.

Called for a leak coming from the shower head in the front bathroom but the faucets were SO CORRODED that the plumber was unable to fix it (NO fault on HIS part!) until next week after he orders the appropriate parts. However, he was/is a VERY NICE man who presented himself very professionally and I have confidence that, when he comes back, he will complete the job as professionally as he appears.

We have had our home warranty with AHS for over 2 years. Having a home warranty policy has saved us a lot of money with numerous repairs we have had to make in our home. The AHS online system is very efficient. Once I put my request in for service, the response from their vendors is usually very fast. The selection of vendors is usually good. Once in awhile, you will get a vendor who is not very cooperative, but our overall experience has been very positive. My experience with their Customer service representatives has been excellent!

5-10-18 initial call, no hot water, hot water heater tank needed to be replaced. 5-11-18 plumber came out after 3pm to "asses" the problem. Still no hot water. said it might be Monday or Tuesday of the following week. Did I say we have NO HOT WATER!!!! 5-15-18 Tuesday plumber comes out alone, even though last Friday he said its a two man job. Has the wrong hot water heater tank. Won't be back till the next day, really!!! Even I knew to measure, I'm not a plumber, he never bothered to measure on last Friday when he came to "asses" the problem. 5-15-18 my husband on three way call with AHS, and the Plumber Inc. assures him they have the hot water heater tank and will be installed at 8am the following day. 5-16-18 Wednesday I call at 8am no show plumber, they inform me that in fact they do not have that Hot Water Heater Tank at all. As of today, 7 days later still NO HOT WATER....WORST, MOST INVCOMPETENT COMPANY ON EARTH!!! Cancel, this in WORTHLESS WARRANTY, refund all my money and pay for the REAL plumber I had to come out who in fact had no problem finding the Hot Water Heater Tank we needed and install...ALL IN THE SAME DAY!!!! Tried to delete the Stars given, they deserve NO STARS

I am not sure why I was charged the $75.00 for a plumber to come to my house and tell me my garbage disposal issue is not covered by my warranty. I am not sure why it isn\'t covered at all. I pay for home warranty coverage to make sure if I have an issue, it will taken care of. Now I have to find a company and pay out of pocket for what I pay to have coverage take care of.
