I have had AHS for a few years now, with minimal complaints. Well now I have a BIG ONE, and it\'s a doozy..On December 9th, 2021 my refrigerator stopped working. It was the weekend, so I couldn\'t report it until 12/12/2021..I was told then that they couldn\'t get to me until 12/24/2021..there was a HUGE miscommunication with the company because when I called them on Dec. 24th to verify my appointment, I was told that the office was closed for the Christmas holiday, and no one was answering the phone, so I figured I was screwed..well, low and behold, the technician actually showed up as planned. That's a good thing..then I was told that they would have to order the part, and would let me know when it was in. It came in later that week, which was good, but when I called to have them come out again to replace the part, I was told that they couldn't get out until 1/10/2022!!! Now mind you, at this point I have been without my refrigerator for over 1 month!! The Technician showed up on the 10th, worked on my refrigerator for a bit, and then was told that the part they had ordered was defective!!, and they had to order a new one..Now I am back to square !...no refrigerator, and when the part does come in I will have to call and make another appointment, and who knows when they will finally get to me..this is beyond frustrating. They have very, very poor customer service, no one to call and talk to except for the phone bank, and those people only deal with making appointments, they can do nothing for the customer when there is a problem..now I know that companies get busy, expecially around the holidays, but warranty companies make a good portion of money on their customers, and for problems like this, they should have a better plan in place to help their customer. I know I could have called a local repairman, and had my refrigerator up and running in a week, tops, but instead I am heading into my 5th week without any end in sight. If hindsight were an option for me, I would not have purchased a home warranty, and definitely not from American Home Shield, where customers are not a priority, at all..

after buying a new warranty at the time we bought our new home, its been painfully difficult to talk to them on the phone and requires 45 minutes or more on home to reach a customer service contact. First they assigned the wrong contractor for my issue. next they scheduled the right type of company (Pool repair) but he didn\'t work on my type of pool heater - which includes piping for solar water heating, which is common where I live. While waiting for yet another pool repair company to call (following 2 more hours on phone/hold)...i receive a voicemail saying they wont cover this because its solar heating equipment. Below is the exact contract language....they want your $ but don't want to repair anything. In my case, we purchased add on pool/spa contract addendum. The contract clearly notes heater related components - no reference to exclusions for Solar related. just look at the language on pool sweeps...listed as covered and not covered. Its a legal mess of a vague contract written this way to help them wiggle from any repair coverage you seek. POOL EQUIPMENT COVERED ITEMS: Above ground, accessible, and operationally necessary components and parts of the heating, pumping, and filtration system including: Pool sweep motor and pump – Pump motor – Plumbing pipes and wiring. NOT COVERED: Access to pool and spa equipment – Lights – Liners – Structural defects – Jets – Ornamental fountains, waterfalls and their pumping systems – Pool cover and related equipment – Fill line and fill valves – Built-in or detachable cleaning equipment including, without limitation, pool sweeps, pop-up heads, turbo valves, skimmers, chlorinators, and ionizers – Fuel storage tanks – Disposable filtration mediums – Multi-media centers – Dehumidifiers – Salt water generators and components – Heat pump

Fast online appointment, quick vendor response, on time arrival and quick solution (replaced garbage disposer). Couldn\'t be happier with AHS. Worth every dollar of premium paid. Will renew again next year.

After purchasing our home in December, we ran into a heat cycle which caused me to use our ceiling fans. Worked great for about 2 months and one day I hit the switch and nothing happened. Checked to make sure electricity was on and yes it was. Called AHS and within 3 days we had our tech at our front door. It took him about 5 minutes to figure out the motor gave up and it wasn't fixable. Offered me options of asking for a "pay out" meaning having AHS send us a check and we go and buy one and have it installed OR he had one in the truck. Wasn't hard decision as you can imagine. He was in and out in about 30 minutes and the weather inside the house was much better.

Very unhappy with AHS. Had a toilet that keeps running. AHS had a company come out and service the toilet. It keeps leaking and running after the service call. I called AHS to remedy and they are asking for another 75 dollars to fix the same problem. I am looking for a new company.

I’ve had AHS for over 20 years. It’s been a life saver for me many times. I’ve used vendors they sentvout for other jobs not related. My only negative is they are extremely hard to get a hold of if a problem does arrive. Average hold time is a hour.

What I really like about this provider is that they scheduled the service timely, showed up when they said they would, fixed the problem and cleaned up after themselves.

AHW has protected my home and rental properties for approximately 15 years. What keeps me going back is their response time, customer service, reasonable price and professionalism. I wouldn’t trust my properties to anyone else. M. Stewart (Sacramento, CA)

Almost impossible to speak with someone on the phone. Had an issue with garage door opener. Paid my service fee. When the repair man came out he told me my issue was not covered. He said I will probably have an issue getting back my service fee even though they will not be paid. He was right AHS refused to issue me a refund so I paid 100 for nothing. Second issue. My washer needed new shocks. It was vibrating, making loud noises and walking across my floor. When this happened the feet on my washer got tilted (maybe bent) so I removed them so the washer would not be tilted. The repair man said he could not put the feet back on even though it was caused by the bad shocks and even though they might possible be broken. I told him it was caused by the shock problem. So he said he would put them back on when he came back with the parts. He did not. The washer continues to vibrate and move across the floor with the new shocks. I notified AHS of the problem. AHS left me a message stating the missing feet were causing the vibration and moving but they don't put on feet. I called to explain the feet were damaged because of the shock and was on hold over an hour with no answer.

I have always had prompt service with American Home Shield. This year when my AC failed in August. I called expecting quick service and was shocked to be given an appointment 7 days out! I called AHS back and asked for a different repair company. They verified my appt. was outside the acceptable time frame and gave me a different company. Unfortunately, I only shaved off 2 days because my second call was on a Friday and they gave the 2nd company 24 business hrs to respond...which meant I had to wait until Monday. I was pleased with the repair company. The only recommendation I have is to place a customer who has already called multiple times and waited multiple days at the top of the list for repair.

I switched from another company to American Home Shield in 2016 because their premium was lower. That certainly doesn\'t mean their service is lacking. When the dishwasher in my rental house failed, they sent a repairman within 3 days. (The first repair company on the list could have come sooner, but I checked their reviews online and asked AHS to send a different company.) Unfortunately the dishwasher couldn't be repaired due to its age. AHS promptly sent a check so I could buy a new one. I'm very satisfied with this company.

1 star is too much! They are scammers and will make up any excuse possible to not help you in any way and leave you completely screwed! I would never had paid for their Warranty had I known. I am contacting my lawyers to file a suit against them! Stay away!!

I have had several appliance repair issues. I always receive prompt attention in reporting the claim and quick response from the company selected to do the work. The technicians are professional and go above and beyond what a customer would expect from this type of repair service. I am very pleased with American Home Shield (AHS) and would recommend them to anyone.
