I am generally happy with American Home Shield but wish they would monitor contractor performance. I had a bad ice maker an the initial contractor (Accord Appliance) sent out did not have a clue as to what was wrong. They replaced my ice maker with one that was used and did not work. I took many days for me to get through to them that the company they sent out was really bad. The person from Accor left me with a blank work order and reported to AHS that my system did not meet "code" for a access valve in the cooling system. I researched the internet and asked the second contractor about this and found there is no "code" about this. The AHS call center seems like they have people just reading from some scripted response and that hey do not understand what is being said. I think that this was when I realized that the AHS call center was manned b people who knew nothing and understood less. I finally got them to send out another contractor (Zen who not only fixed the problem but showed me where I had been taken advantage of. Still I like American Home Shield and will continue to use them. I just hope they take this review to heart and improve their call center and quality of their Contractors. This review reflects the initial contractor and not AHS.

I bought a home warranty with roof coverage for my client. Roof RX who is a partner of American Home Shield is contacting clients after close of escrow and offering free roof preventive maintenance inspections and then hitting our clients with bids- $1400. They have verbally and in writing told my client that if he doesn\'t get the work done, American Home Shield will not cover potential future leaks. My client endedup having the work done through another roofer. AHS is required to cover the roof if a roof leak occurs! However, by allowing Roof RX to come out & do the inspections its opening a door to items they might call pre existing. Agents please advise other clients to decline any preventative maintenance from a AHS partner!!

I have used AHS for 3 years. Recently I had a washing machine stop working. AHS sent out Accord appliance. The technician, Jorge, opened the front of the washer, gave it a whirl and concluded the I misused my washer, therefore, I was responsible for any and all repairs. AHS sent out a different company for a second opinion. This technician actually did his job. He took the back off, determined that the reason my washer was not working was due to some loose screws on the drum. I called AHS to ask them to change my repair company from Accord to the company that did their job. I was hung up not once, not twice but three times from AHS customer service. Will not be renewing my contract with them.

Very disappointing. Multiple times, including at this moment, have had to hold over an hour to get through. Have been without a fridge for over going on 5 weeks. Repair has failed twice and third repair now involves a part that has been on order going on 2nd week. Lost two loads of food. Bought a dorm size fridge to hold milk and to be able to store food. Not happy customers!

I would give this company -5 stars at this point. As a Real Estate Broker, I have used AHS through home sales, purchases, etc with our company is a couple states. NO MORE. When trying to get service on my home, I have not only had F Rated (by the BBB) Companies come to my home and not know how to fix something - but I cannot get this company to, after almost 2 months of not having a working washing machine, replace the unit. They tell you what you want to hear, and nothing ever materializes. Every time I have to call in as well, I sit on hold up to an hour!!! REALLY??? If our call is "SO IMPORTANT to them" then why am I hold this for this long? This is absolutely been the WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had with a Home Warranty Company, and trust me, I've had some duzzy's!! Our companies in CA, TX, etc will be STOP referring them out and utilizing them for good! VERY Subpar Customer Service...REMINDER TO: AHS....Without Customers you are NOTHING

We were contacted by a repairman almost immediately and he showed up when he said he would. He had to find the parts needed to do the work and got back to us a few days later. He was very clear as to what it would take to do the repairs needed. He cleaned up after himself and was very polite. Your customer service rep knew who to call in our area and was very pleasant on the phone. She obviously obtained all the appropriate information she needed to help us with our problem. I think you provide excellent service and I don't know what else you can do to improve. Bravo!!

My latest service request addressed a heating issue. The contractor was on-time, extremely professional and very knowledgable. He took the time to explain the cause and what he did to correct the issue. The contractor also pointed out another issue that needed to be resolved. Also, I was very impressed with the contractors use of technology. All of the paperwork including the check processing was completed on a mobile device and immediately email to me which was great!

A plumber was sent to address a leak under the kitchen sink. He said the faucet needed replacing. The company replaced the faucet(the type covered by the warranty), but did so incorrectly, resulting in a an even worse leak, which damaged my kitchen floor. When I reported this damage to Old Republic, I was given a telephone number where I listened to a recording telling me that the company did not cover "secondary damage", despite the fact that the damage was caused by the plumber sent by Old Republic. They will not return calls and neither will the company sent to do the plumbing repairs. I have always purchased this type of home warranty when purchasing a home, but have never had to use the coverage prior to this experience. I would not recommend Old Republic to anyone. I have never submitted a negative review about any any company or service provider, but this company deserves a bad review.

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, they will find any reason not to fix your item, on the other hand if they couldn't fix it they will try to replace it with a cheaper item and claim that they only replace the functions of the product not the size, for example, if you have a microwave that 36" wide and worth $800, if they couldn't fix it they will only pay you $250 claiming that the cheaper one does the same thing that the other on does!!! also, they wouldn't fix my pool pump claiming that they only fix one pump, so if you have more than one pump they will not fix it for you plus you wouldn't get you $60 back. you are wasting you money if you choose these guys.
