Lowe’s Protection Plans
Quite possibly the biggest scam. They offer what is called a replacement plan that goes into effect after the manufacturer\'s warranty expires. The only problem, is that when you call to submit a claim, they do everything they can, to not replace.

American Home Shield (AHS)
Have had a broken AC coil for two weeks and still have been replaced. The first one took 3-5 days to arrive and when it did it was crushed so a new one had to ordered. That was four days ago. if the part arrives today it will be at least two weeks without AC. Living in Florida without AC is a major problem.

I\'ve had my home warranty with AHS for over 15 years. Overall good service and repair work over the years. Here\'s the problem. When I purchased my warranty 15-16-17 years ago, not exactly sure of year. My A/C unit was two years old. I live in South Florida where it runs every day of year. Most A/C units down here last 8-12 years I\'m told by A/C techs. Mine is 17-18-19 years old? AHS refuses to replace it. It broke down this year 4 times in a 6 week period. The just keep putting bandaids on it. It is very inefficient do to the age so my electric bills are higher than they should be for my small townhome. My feeling is that they are "waiting me out". As it will keep breaking down and I will get sick and tired of waiting for the repair each time as my home gets hot fast in the Florida heat, and just replace it myself.....This is my only issue with AHS. Which is a "big one"......all other repairs and service has been fine. Hopefully they will do the "right thing" before the 100 degree temperatures hit us in few months.

American Home Shield (AHS)
My home plumbing became clogged at the most inconvenient time, while family was visiting from out of town. Called AHS and a plumber was sent right over with no questions asked and had it fixed that same night. If you carry car insurance in case of an accident, buy insurance for home repairs. Same concept, very low deductible.

We've had an intermittent problem with one of our toilets. Once again we needed service. I called AHS and they immediately handled my problem. Not only did they give me the name of the company they contacted they also gave me the name, phone number and work order number. It gives me the ability of talking directly to the company starting a two-way conversation. In all the years of having AHS we have never had a problem with any company. The plumber explained why we continued having the toilet problem, it's an old toilet, no other plumber told us. We had a different home warranty when we bought this home and immediately cancelled them and went back to AHS. We weren't given this choice at the time. We made the decision to pay out of our pockets for far better coverage!
