I have been very happy with the timely response from Home shield. I got a bad diagnosis with the first evaluation. Home shield helped me get a second opinion just as quickly. Second opinion was more knowledgeable and professional.

AC went down and they sent a contractor out to fix a capacitor and then he tried to up charge me for services I did not need for $1000\'s of dollars. A handle broke on my refrigerator and their repair company asked for a picture of it. He said the problem was due to the manufacturer so AHS would not pay for it. They still want to charge me a service fee of a $100 for no service at all. They should not call the company "American" because all my calls to them go to the Philippines.

The appliance guys (Bay to bay) are great! No complaints. The electrician was in & out within 30 minutes- problem fixed. The plumber, on the other hand, I feel was lazy! He didn’t even attempt to figure out the shower problems. Just said they would have to order parts but knew they couldn’t find them & would have to replace the faucets. My daughter ended up fixing the one. All it needed was a new washer. I don’t want that plumber here again. The company itself may be ok, but they guy they sent us not welcomed here again.

Our Air Conditioner went out 2 weeks ago. It took 3 days to get the initial tech to come out and tell us that the air was clogged. Within an hour the air quit working again. Called to report the issue and it took another 2 days to get another tech out. That tech came out and said it was the compressor. American Home Shield would not authorize the charge for the parts. They would not pay for us to have a hotel room until our air was fixed and said someone would contact us. It has been another 3 days and we have received no call about a hotel room and no-one has called to try to replace/repair the unit. They said there was no rush to get the air fixed and would get taken care of eventually. After seeking a second opinion, the entire unit needed to be replaced because you could no longer buy parts for our current system.

Have been customer at this house for 17 years, with prior over 20 years as customer. Repairs and claims have been pretty good. We sold our home on 12-28-18. I called on 12-24 to cancel and told to call back on 12-18 after closing. I did and thought everything was okay. On 12-31-18 AHS again charged me. I called and was told my contract was valid until 1-27-19, after speaking to 2 different Customer agents, requesting to speak to a supervisor and told there was not one available, still have not had any resolution of refund - why did you charge me after the contract cancelled and why do you still show the contract active -- HORRIBLE Customer service

My buyer had to call only for service when he plumbing backed up into his newly purchased home. First we had to wait over 45 minutes to schedule a service call because the system did not recognize his contract number. The he was told no one could service him for 5 days!!! how can you go 5 days with no use of your toilet, sinks or showers??? He finally paid out of pocket for someone else to come out and fix it. I have been on hold now for over 90 minutes trying to cancel the service call and get back the $75 service fee. The call has been disconnected several times and you just sit on hold for hours. Biggest waste of $500. Save your money or go with a different company. This is ridiculous

This was the worse experience we ever had trying to get our central air conditioning fixed. After 6 visits in 11 days it still was not working properly. We cancelled insurance and called another company and it was repaired in 15 minutes. The bizarre thing is when we called to cancel insurance we were connected to the retention department and never once did anyone ask why we were cancelling.

My contractor was thorough and though my problem was an intermittent problem with my furnace the contractor did not hesitate to take positive steps to resolve it. It took a couple of visits to isolate the issue but the contractor was persistent.

I give them a zero on customer service. Promises, promises. I have 4 young boys and am going into back surgery tomorrow. 2 A/C units out in August/Florida....gets hot. Still waiting to hear something back from somebody after 2 phone calls yesterday. It looks like I will be recovering from back surgery in 87 degree indoor temperature. I can't put too much blame on the contractors other than they OBVIOUSLY work for AHS. Really nothing good to say about the whole deal. Had them for several years after buying an older home. Will NOT continue my contract, in fact, I have already sent renewal for the year and am going to call and cancel. Just no good and a waste of hard earned money. I would rather pay more and actually get service for what I pay for. AHS, you should be ashamed of yourself. You are a VERY POORLY RUN company. Signed, sweating indoors

I have had a contract with AHS for over 10 years. Sometimes the repairs have been simple and easy. I had an issue with my garage door opener earlier this year and the problem was resolved within 3 days of my call. HOWEVER, I have been dealing with them for a WEEK on an Air Conditioning repair. The service reps for both companies (AHS and U.S.A.H.C) have been polite, but NONE of them have resolved my problem. AHS states they have approved the part and repair and the company needs to order it. The repair company states that they are waiting for approval from AHS. This went on for 2 days, and NOW today I am told that AHS needs more information from the tech that came to look at my AC and once they talk to him it will be approved. In the meantime, I am living in 80 degree weather with VERY limited AC and miserable. NO ONE cares and NO ONE is giving me answers. I am not happy with the results and Air Conditioning is NOT an option. ONE WEEK is too long to wait for the part to even be ORDERED!!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE if you choose AHS for your home warranty.
