Very happy with the service I received from American Home Shield and the contractor that worked on my dryer. The contractor was prompt and friendly. And it was fixed that day.

Have had American Home Shield for over 10 years and the convenience of having this service is well worth the money! The most recent service for our garage refrigerator we very good, the only issue was getting the replacement part. This was no fault of AHS, but rather the supplier but fortunately it came in a few days and nothing was lost in the refrigerator.

we have had/kept AHS for 23 yrs. We have made very few calls for service in that period of time. When we have had to have service it almost always has cost us alot of out of pocket expense. The most recent of which was $800.That was not doable for a 76 yr. old woman on a low fixed income! Thank goodness my son came up with the money as it meant breathing for me.I have alot of breathing issuses.

My pool pump went out! I thought for sure that since we are experiencing this horrible pandemic, it would be nearly impossible to get it repaired before algae started settling in. Well, what a surprise to know that once I called AHS and told them my issue, not only was I able to talk to a REAL person and I received service order number BUT THEY SENT A POOL PUMP TECHNICIAN RIGHT OVER!!! The technician called and after hearing a brief description of my issue, he came over and REPLACED THE ENTIRE BOOSTER PUMP! All I had to do was pay my "deductible". I have never been more excited to write a review! I kept checking my email like "when are they going to ask for my feedback?" LOL! American Home Shield CANNOT BE BEAT!!!

This is our tenth year with American Home Shield. Customer service has always been outstanding. We just had our spring a/c tune up offered by a special from AHS. For the money spent, you couldn\'t find a better and reliable deal anywhere else. The service performed by the a/c technician was outstanding.

I required a service call on our heating and cooling unit. Family Heating and Air was sent out and I was so impressed with their professionalism and honesty that I decided to have a new unit installed. American Home Shield contracts with good honest companies and I am very pleased.

American Home Shield (AHS)

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

We have used American Home Shield for five years now and would recommend them. We do not have prior experience with any other home warranty company. In the past, they have replaced our oven after an electrical fire in the oven. They replaced the same, basic model, for free, without question. That was excellent. They also have sent very good contractors and companies out for other problems we had with our AC, a water leak from our washer machine pipe, a leaky faucet repair, and garbage disposal issue. So, they have been of great use to us over the past 5 years and have covered the costs when we have been responsible for the service fee. We recently had a complete replacement of our plumbing and pipes after contractors found 17 leaks under our house from old, outdated pipes. AHS wanted two opinions which we went through with, both contractors ended up with the same opinion. Communication was a little foggy after this, between AHS and the contractor. When AHS received the response from the second opinion contractor with the estimate of the work, AHS initially told us that they would cover so much of the repair cost, $1700, which we agreed to. However, they could not put this in writing or confirm it in any way, except for our conversation over the phone, which made me feel a little uncomfortable, as I was putting my good faith and trust into what they were telling us. I was not told how to otherwise go forward, so I scheduled the service directly with the contractor, whom did tell us that we would be responsible for the cost up front and AHS would reimburse us what they told us they would. Feeling like we had no other option, we completed the job. The contractor said they would submit the completion of work to AHS. A week and a half later, no response or check from AHS. I called and they were unaware that the work had been completed, so probably that was a mistake on behalf of the contractor. Then, they reported that they were unaware of a cash out option, so they had to submit a request for that, after the work had been completed and after they had initially told me over the phone of what they were willing to cover from the estimate prior to completion of work. They told me someone from claims would contact me in 24 hrs, but no one did, so I called and asked what the process was to receive the reimbursement, which was as simple as sending in my invoice to a fax number that the person kindly gave to me. A couple of days after that, some one from claims calls me telling me that I am inquiring about a cash out option, and that they can now reimburse me 1625.00. Even though I was originally told 1700.00, I wasn't going to argue the 75.00 after exasperated over this whole back and forth ordeal. I told them that the contractor had already completed the work and the invoice had already been faxed in, which the person over the phone appeared to have no idea of. When I asked if the invoice had been received over the fax, she only could ask me what fax number I had sent it to, which I could not remember off the top of my head. I thought the company would only have one fax, but I suppose not. The next day I called and was able to confirm that the invoice had been received and my check would arrive in 10-14 business days, which it did, Thank God, because I had no real record or confirmation of what I was being told over the phone. This is the only issue I have with this company. On your account webpage, it only shows whether the service fee has been paid, and whether the contract company has been notified and whether service requests have been completed or not. It would have been a lot less of a headache if what I was being told over the phone was in writing somehow, or if there was a confirmation number. It also would be helpful if there was a follow up process on their webpage explaining what happens in a cash out option, what to do after completion of work, like that you have to send in an invoice and how to proceed with that. In hindsight, it might just be easier to deal with contractors and getting repair work done directly, instead of dealing with a third party, if one can afford to. I am thankful that AHS gave me at least the money they did for this costly repair job. At least, I will know in the future how this cash out option works, and I hope that this helps the next person who might end up needing to do the same thing.

I purchased a washer and dryer for a friend and due to the sales pitch "if we can\'t repair your equipment within 3 days we will replace it with a new one at no charge" This is the third service call, and this one is even more unacceptable than the other two. The plastic handle broke on the dryer door. Service guy came out and said it was due to abuse and if it was repaired it would have to be paid. I googled the problem and there are tons of people with the same problem. As I already knew, the cause of the breaking part was not abusive use. This is the third time S & S Appliance in Birmingham has scheduled a time for the part to be repaired. So for the past three weeks - its take your clothes out to dry them. My friend made arrangement to be home between 8 - 12, but when he called to get a more specific time was told the part came in , but that he wasn't scheduled. This extended warranty is a JOKE, and a total waste of money. I will never purchase another Lowes's warranty. It is passed off to suppliers that do not have the same customer service standards as Lowes.

3rd attempt to have service provided for a GEOSprings GE Hot water heater... I held the first time for over 45 minutes and got a rep who was rude and told me that since the parts were covered under the manufactures products I should call back once received only after she placed me on hold for 25 minutes. Once the parts came in I called back after being on hold for 30 minutes, I hung up. Tried back late in the evening was on hold 20 minutes before talking to someone. They scheduled an appointment for me but told me I should call the contractor to see if they handled my type of hot water heater. And told me the parts received free of charge directly from the manufacture could not be used. When I contacted the contractor, I would told they didn't handle my type of hot water heater, so I called back again, and was on hold this time for 1 hour 22 minutes before getting a rep to state my issue. Once explained that an HVAC person was needed to completed the repairs, the rep verified my info and with little conversation, the rep the sat the phone down and was frantically typing. About 5 minutes later she came back to tell me she was trying to figure out how to dispatch it and sat the phone down again. 1 hour and 56 minutes later a supervisor is doing research and will call me back. Ridiculous service!

I have been using American home Shield now for a year. For the past year the service has been pretty decent but I now have a major water concern in my house, in my agreement plan I can\'t find the details that says that they will only cover a small portion of what it cost to fix the water issue. I\'ve been calling for two days to speak to a representative to resolve this matter and get some clarification and I've been on hold for approximately 47 minutes what is the problem I need some help please!

Old Republic Home Protection

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

My AC went out on Thursday, on Friday a coworker referred me to a contractor they use frequently who would come out to see what the problem was, he came out and determined the compressor had burnt out and lost all charge. I contacted ORHP who put in for another contractor to come out...they finally came out Monday. All night Friday, Saturday, Sunday and most of Monday it rained. The contactor finally came out and said everything the previous contractor said and then stated because I do not have gutters on the side of the house that it was water damage that caused the unit to die. We moved into this house 10 MONTHS AGO. It had not been raining at all when the AC went out. The water that had accumulated on the unit was from everything after that because we had turned the unit off. The unit is also not in any direct drain bath and does not get hit was "loads of rain" as they make it out to be. ORHP stated it was not a requirement to have gutters but they denied the claim anyways??????? They stated they will look into it further and will be calling me back but I will be contacting the BBB and fully plan to appeal if they deny. The customer service was far from helpful and just kept repeating "we are sticking with what the contractor stated". This is terrible customer service. I will not be renewing and will look elsewhere. The first time we used them was within 3 months of moving in and the dishwasher broke.. it took them a week to get someone out and a month for the part to come in! That should have been a red flag from the start right there.

Old Republic Home Protection

Rating starRating starRating starRating starRating star

One Star is to much. I have reviewed a number of other complaints herein and my experience with Old Republic Home Warranty is as bad if not worse. I purchased a home warranty from them when I purchased my home last May 2016. I had a problem with our dishwasher unit which is over 17 years old. The dishwasher leaks water and it does not wash dishes properly. Further, it is making me and my wife sick. When I contacted ORHW last week (3/2/2017) they sent out an incompetent repairman who was only in my home for 15 minutes, did nothing and took my $75.00. Because he did nothing I removed the unit myself. The service repairman has reported he can't repair the unit because I removed from my home. He suppose to be a repairman for heaven's sakes... The bottom line is the UNIT is SHOT and needs to be replaced !!! Because of this fiasco/RIPOFF I have had to purchase a new unit myself. I have documented the incident and will file a lawsuit and seek damages both personal and punitive against this worthless company. Stay away from these scamers !!! BTW MY Warranty Plan number is 24137242 in case you can not fine it !!!

American Home Shield (AHS) was my original warranty company for several years. Within those years, I ventured away and signed on with 2 other warranty companies; bad mistake! In 2015, I resigned with AHS and realized that I should have never left, AHS offer premium service and I am once again happy in knowing that all my warranty needs are being met.

I recently had a toilet leak into the ceiling of my living room and my bathroom sink was leaking. I was not sure where the leak was coming from or what was causing this. I went online to place a service order with AHS. Although the contractor did not contact me within the 24 hour period, when I called they assured me they had received the information and were just short staffed that week, but a tech could come out the next day. The tech arrived the next day and took care of the problem within 30 minutes!

Even do the contractor has to come to the house 3 to 4 times, at the end it looks like that know the problem has been fixed. The contractor always shows concern with the problem. The employee that visit the house was always very courteous and respectful. The Customer Service department from AHS always showed concern and work very efficient with the situation.
