Lowe’s Protection Plans

I bought a Whirpool fridge from Lowes in October 2019. Since that time the icemaker has broken down four times. When I called about the 3rd breakdown I was told that if the icemaker broke a 4th time, Lowes would by the refridgerator back at full price. When I called the 4th time I was told a repairman would have to come out again. The repairman ordered a new electronic panel. When he replaced that panel, icemaker still did not work. The repairman called his supervisior to say that the unit could not be repaired. The supervisor was totally rude (I tride to explain the situation) and said that the repairman would have to find the source of the problem. Turns out a wire that goes from the interior freezer into the door is not working. That will require ordering a new door for $1,550. The electric panel was $500 so with the four service calls and multiple parts we have far exceeded the original cost of the unit. Repairman told me I could be waiting 2 months for a new door. I've tried calling the Lowes protection plan people several times and just keep being told everything is dependant on the repair company. It's clear to me that management at the repair comapny (in this instance Sears) will never tell Lowes that something can't be repaired.

Sometimes this works pretty well - the service company calls withing 24 hours, they set up a convenient appt, and they solve the problem; often it is disappointing - it takes multiple calls and several times 24 hours to reach the service company and the soonest appt is another week in the future. It can also go completely haywire. In the last category, AHS is effectively accusing me of fraud (under the cover of 'not normal wear and tear') and declining coverage on my central air unit which has been out of service for about six weeks so far. Basically it comes down to a paranoid service tech who thinks his competitors are fraudsters and inadequate internal procedures/training such that his criminal detection judgment was accepted without any evidence. There is a simple common-sense non-paraniod explanation that he and the AMS in house staff ignored. The actual circumstances are not the most important thing here: instead, think 'what is the value of a warranty company that will blithely accuse its customer of fraud (a criminal felony) rather than focus on good and fair customer service. I am now incurring additional costs and looking forward to the long and inconvenient arbitration process.

Sounds great unless you actually need to use it. I had a problem with my A/C with it being 95 outside and having a 2 year old in the home I called first thing in the morning to have a service call.The customer service originally hung up on me when i went to give them model # on my A/C then I received a text msg telling me the name of the air company that would be handleing my service call when i called to set a time for them to come out they told me that they would not be out to my home until the next day and when i tried to explain that i had a 2 year old and needed them to come out sooner they spoke very loudly over my voice sorry about that but we have people to catch up on from the weekend and quickly hung up on me. When calling American home shield back the next person I spoke to was very mouthy and rude when I was trying to explain that I had a 2 year old in the home and needed someone to come out today she had very rudly told me that she wouldn't be able to schedule another company to come out to my service call because the current company that i was set up with was with in their guide lines. I ended having to call another company myself and take care of the air conditioning issue. When i called AHS later this evening to cancel my service request i was told that computers where down and it would be a 30 min hold time to ensure the request was cancelled. I had a overall bad experience.

I had an air conditioner failure 4 months after purchase. It was a very specialized size and configuration. There were several visits by their local partner Burgess Heat and Air. Ultimately the unit was replaced and service and installation was promptly handled after the scope of the job was determined. I will never buy anything from Lowe\'s again. I\'ve had to call the service people three times for my freezer and now it doesn\'t work and they change the times on me after I remove my work schedule. My refrigerator that I bought the door wasn\'t the right door for him and it took 3 months to get the door to my refrigerator do not buy from Lowe\'s their Warranty company stinks and there's nothing you can do about it

rating on a 1 to 10 scale 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest I would the rating a 10 because it was so easy for me to get in touch with some one to help me. they was very polite and professional. They told me what company would be taking care of my problem and when I could expect to hear from them and also gave me there phone number. The contractor was excellent, very professional polite and knowledgeable.

My water heater went out on a weekend, of course. We called AHS on Sunday night and the contractor called us back right away and said they would be here the next day to look at it. And they did indeed come the next day and said it could not be repaired and they would bring onother one to install the next day. Next day they did bring another and installed it which was quite a chore since our water heater is in the attic with only a small entrance to the attic. We appreciated AHS for expediting this matter as we could not get along without hot water. The contractor was very timely and effecient. The cleaned up any mess they made. Overall, this time the experience superb!
