Lowe’s Protection Plans
We bought an extended warranty plus plan for our Frigidaire refrigerator at Lowes. The ice maker stopped working about a year and a half ago. After 6-8 warranty visits, the ice maker still does not work. I was told by a Lowes warranty service rep that if on the last service visit, they could not fix the ice maker, Lowes would honor the lemon section of the warranty and replace the fridge. After the last service visit, the ice maker worked for two days and quit. I called the warranty service dept. and told them that I wanted to claim the lemon rule in the contract and they told me that ice makers were not covered by the warranty! On Lowes website there are two different contracts for my fridge; One of the contracts does NOT exclude the ice maker and one does. Every service rep told me that the ice maker was a huge problem with my type of fridge so I am thinking that Lowes added the contract that excludes ice makers at a later date? In short, do not buy an extended warranty at Lowes. They do not HONOR them.

American Home Shield (AHS)
While getting ready for summer I did some testing with my A/C -unit and noticed the cooling unit did not start up. After some pretty simple self-made troubleshooting steps I submitted a service request on AHS website. This was quick and convenient, it was around 11 PM, so I did not feel like start making any phone calls as the hot weather was still weeks away. Following morning I got a phone call from an A/C service company and was able to schedule a service call for the same morning. The problem with my A/C -unit got fixed and my house is now ready for summer heat! I can't imagine the fix being any smoother. Great service and very convenient!

I am highly disappointed in the service and resolution that I have received. I first called to file a claim upon buying my home mid May to have the refrigerator serviced. The technician has been out 4 times and each time he leaves there is something else wrong with the refrigerator. He came out on Tuesday and by Wed, my freezer defrosted and leaked, by Thursday morning, the fridge part was not working. I called customer service both for HSA and for the contracted company and there is no urgency and all they can say is that they can't replace the appliance until the technician recommends it, the technician says he has to keep coming out until HSA tells him to continue fixing or replace. Meanwhile, I have had to throw out an entire refrigerator of food TWICE now due to their incompetency. I would never buy this warranty again!!!

Do not use this company. Their customer service is horrible. You can't ever get anyone to call you back. Plus they low ball you so much on replacement claims. My neighbor has HSofA and they are great. But this company is not even mediocre much less good. They take forever to pay you. They give you the run around.
