American Home Shield (AHS)
We have American Home Shield and when we had trouble with our A/C AHS sent out a technician who without first checking the coil for leaks put Freon in our system. It was all gone in less than 48 hours. We were then told they needed to replace the coil and the air handler. And they were going to replace it with r-22 equipment since that was what we had. Anyone who knows anything about HVAC would know this is a company who has NO concerns for the environement. It's no longer made. I don't believe the HVAC company hired by AHS is licensed by our state to do HVAC, nor certified by the EPA. We also had another unit go bad and stain our ceiling thanks to the company not checking the equipment when they came out the first time. They told us the system was fine so when we saw stains on our ceiling we called a roofer thinking we had a roof leak. He checked the equipment and new immediately the condesor was freezing up. So rather than go around and around with American Home Shields nice phone associates whose first language is NOT English and have more damage done to our home due to the company that they insisted we use we hired a reputable LICENSED company to do it right the first time. We have expressed our concerns to American Home Shield, but are still waiting to get the issue resolved.

Old Republic Home Protection
Avoid this company at all cost. They will not honor the contract and you will be forced to waste valuable time on every single service request. The legal contract you enter into is worthless unless you have hours and hours to spend enforcing it. The representatives are rude and are likely trained to decline claims as a first line response. It\'s nothing more than an insurance company holding policy holders hostage. After reading the reviews on Consumer Affairs, I'm tempted to file a class action suit. I have moved my business to another company.
