I purchase my home in February of this year at the advise of our agent we got a home warranty not thinking I would ever need to use it. Well last Wednesday I got home from work to find my water heater had exploded and was flooding my basement. I reached out to make a claim. I was advised a company would reach out to me “shortly.” I was notified 24 hours later that a plumbing company would be out the next morning sometime between eight am and one pm. The Plummer showed up right at eight am on Friday morning he was at my home for about seven minutes to tell I needed a new water heater which I aleady knew. I called the warranty company after the Plummer was out. I was told they were still waiting for the report from the plumber before a decision would be made so at this point it’s been three days without water and was told I should hear something by Monday. I get an email Monday morning letting me know a replacement has been approved and to call in. So I did. I was then told I would need to pay for a new gas line and the permit to replace the heater fine no biggie let’s get this going. I was then told I needed to contact the plumber to go to the next step I call the plumber and was advised the warranty company needed to order the water heater so the plumber could proceed so I call the warranty company back to find out if the water heater was ordered and how long it will take to get as it’s now been five days and I don’t have water. I was told another rep from the warranty company would be reaching out to me but couldn’t tell me when but to keep my phone on as it will be “shortly.” And asked me to stay on the line to fill out a survey which at this point I’ve already done twice. Be I’m mad I’m done doing surveys I’m still waiting to hear from the rep and it’s now the end of they day I hear nothing but get a request to do another survey. It’s now been six days I have no water no water heater and no answer on how much longer I’m going to have to wait to not only get this fixed but to get some kind of timeline on how long I’m going to go without running water in my house this a joke. I could have gone to homedepot last Wednesday night got a new water heater and replaced this already but since I have this what seems like a useless warranty I waiting. I’ve now had to buy a gym membership just so I have a place to shower and buy a water tank to make sure my dogs have water. I before I purchased this warranty I had someone reaching out to me daily to purchase this warranty I feel there is more staff selling the warranty than there is servicing the claims. I hope this is an eye opener into how your company treats people after the warranty is purchased as there doesn’t seem to be any sense of urgency in fixing something so vital for a home owner.

I put a work order in for my fridge and dryer on 8/28 they did not send anyone out until 9/16. They contractor came in and stayed for 10mins. Then said they have to order parts. 2 wks later they returned with one part for the Fridge not dryer, but when they called they said they had both. I called LM (contractor) they said that the dryer part was back ordered. If i didn't call I guess I would not have known.a week later they called and scheduled to come fix my dryer. They finally get here they claim they fixed the dryer 10 minutes later after leaving the dryer stopped running again. I called LM and advised them that the dryer stopped working and at the fridge was still not cooling off as it was prior to breaking down. They said they couldn't get no one out for five to six more days now I'm still waiting. I call AHS today to complain about their services and the contractor services I am still waiting to see how they're going to rectify this issue. I use AHS two times prior to this and really didn't have an issue but now I'm guessing that I'm probably going to seek another place to warranty my home this is outrageous insane it's not only a issue that I had to wait almost a month and a half but I the lack of communication is the most horrible thing that I've dealt with. AHS need to contract with better contractors and they need to get into a corporate meeting and discuss how they're going to better handle their customers in the future I recommend you do your research even more before taking a plan out with AHS.

The contractor replied to my service request within a few hours of my filing the request. The contractor was at my home at 8:00 am the next day as scheduled. He determined the problem, ordered the parts and returned two days to complete the job. The contractor was proper in every way. His uniform was proper and he was careful to not leave the work area dirty. He is a good representative for AHS.

My most recent experience with customer care from American Home Shield was very successful. I had 2 appliances that needed a bit of work and both were taken care of on the first call. My refrigerater needed a new program board and the contractor had brought one on his truck and promptly installed it. The contractor was very clean, cleaned up after his work and left the place in perfect order.

Recently, we had a pluming leak in our shower and we called American Home Shield to have it fixed. Customer service was amazing; very knowledgeable and friendly. Within 24 hours we were contacted by a professional and local pluming service (Carter Pluming) to set up an appointment. When the plumber arrived, he was very professional and after identifying the problem, fixed it within 30 minutes. The timeline was only a few days to fix the leak. We were very impressed and satisfied with the overall experience. After the plumber left and prior to the next shower taken, we noticed that although the leak was fixed, the shower handle would not completely rotate to obtain maximum hot water temperatures. We contacted Carter Pluming directly and explained. Within 2 days, Carter Pluming returned, apologized, and corrected to issue in a very professional manner. We have had American Home Shield for many years while owning our own home and we really recommend it to every home owner. It has brought us continuous repair savings over the years. Our thanks......
