Could not be worst! I filed a claim with them on Tuesday, for a broken pipe. A company was assigned to do the job but, because the leak is under the sauna, they said they wouldn\'t touch it. Now the leak happens to be under the sauna, but the sauna itself has no water as it\'s a dry sauna. It\'s like saying "we don\'t fix leaks that happen to be under a kitchen floor"... So the claim was supposed to be reassigned to another company. When I checked online, the claim had disappeared. And I filed a new one. Guess what? The same company was assigned to do the job... So I called AHS. First time I was on hold for 1 hour and 12 minutes. When the lady answered, I shared politely my displeasing with the long wait. She went on lecturing me about how she had just hang up with another customer and, when I tried to put a word in, she hung up on me. HUNG UP after 72 minutes of wait! So I called again. This time I only waited 50 minutes. The lady that answered had a rather poor English accent, she was very hard to understand. I am not discriminating, I am Italian so I know a poor accent when I hear one... I explained the problem, she mumbled something like she understood, she apologized for the inconvenience and put me on hold. I have now been on hold for an hour and 37 minutes (make it an hour and fifty now...), plus an hour and 12 to start with plus 50 before talking with someone on the second call. All that to correct a problem they created. And this is not the end of it, as I am still on hold. I will let you know how this story ends... AHS is terrible, save your money, they will do anything not to pay your claim, which includes canceling claims online and not talking with you. And if they cancel the claims and you can't talk to anybody, the only thing left to do is continue paying the $1100 I pay for the year or they will send the contract to a collection agency. Man, I thought the Italian Mafia had the extorsion thing down to a science, but boy AHS has a leg up on them!

First contractor wouldn’t return my call and then when I complained, said it would be three weeks. Wouldn’t recommend them to anyone ever. Have shared my experience with multiple people and will continue to do so. Always easy to say your customer focused and then hope they don’t complain when it’s so much less than satisfactory. Another company, out of southern Oklahoma actually come up on a Sunday, early evening, and had my air conditioner back to perfect working order. The other company, no name I’ve ever heard of, out of Broken Arrow, couldn’t be bothered.

I could not be more dissatisfied with American Home Shield’s lack of customer service or honesty. My family, including my husband and my elderly parents who live with us have been without A/C for 3 weeks now. AHS sent the first A/C service company who would not even look at our system because it is supposedly not up to code, which was not mentioned in our home inspection when we bought the house a 18months ago. That service company proceeded to tell us we needed 12lbs of coolant added! We contested their diagnosis so AHS sent another company out for a second opinion. The second company said we did NOT need any coolant! Yet our A/C is still not working! I have called many times and been on hold for at least an hour. I have spoken to many associates at AHS and only one of them seemed willing to render the situation. So far, I don’t know who to trust. One of the service companies is lying or does not know what they are doing. And AHS has NOT done anything they said they would do. A shield is meant for protection so at the very least I should get honesty, but protection would be really great considering we are paying for it. I don’t know what to do now that I have called in yet again to speak to someone I can understand and was hung up on. I have been very considerate with my words while speaking to associates which they would be able to verify since they record each call. I hope reading this review as given insight to anyone looking for a home warranty company they can trust. We will not be continuing with them next year.

When I first started my insurance with American Home Shield, they were fabulous. Now, they are worse than pathetic! I cannot even get them to get my call to a supervisor because they are "experiencing such a high call volume!" I would recommend searching every other available provider before I ever contracted with them again!

I certainly don’t mind paying my $49 a month for coverage . However I really do think that $75 co-pay is entirely too high . I seldom have to use the service maybe once or twice a year and I think that my $600 or so that I pay ought to cover more of the deductible.

AHS was great until it came time to spend money to fix problems. I’ve spent over 40 hours on hold with them and less than 3 hours on the phone with someone trying to get multiple systems repaired. Their most recient tale is that they will only replace plumbing if it is leaking. However my plumbing if failing due to corision which is covered but they will no longer respond to my inquiries. I could not in good conscience recommend AHS to anyone including horrible people like Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin and Mao Ze Dung. Although if one of those people had to deal with AHS, the issues would have been fixed a long time ago. I’ve stopped paying my premium and an outstanding service call fee because legally they have to go to arbitration to collect that and it costs them $2500.00 just to file, and the person who files for arbitration is responsible for that fee win or lose. When I sell my home I will not include an AHS warranty for the purchaser, and if it is included in the next home I purchase I will never activate it. AHS makes Congress look good, and Comcast will eventually learn of how horrible AHS treats their customers and I’ll pay AHS to teach Comcast CSRs how to be as rude and condescending as the people AHS employees.

STAY AWAY! AHS is not worth the time and money you have to spend. It is easy to request service online, but after that you spend over 1 hour every time you have to call them - which is a minimum of 2-3 times per claim. They will also try and charge you multiple times for the same service request. I would not recommend AHS to anyone

I will not be renewing AHS. There were pumping issues that is below eye level, they would not cover to repair. The only repairs they are covering is things they can see which are parts that you can buy for a few bucks and install it yourself. The deductible is not worth it. The things they cannot see they would not cover even though its part of "plumbing". Some of their vendors are great and some are terrible. No call and no schedule. No follow up or response on some. I had ductwork order and the vendor call to ask about issue and I specifically said cleaning. Turns out when they came out, they don't do cleaning. So they took the service call and did nothing. I had another company that I paid to come out and also found holes in the ductwork that the AHS vendor says everything is fine. So repair service is not always great. And if you are unhappy they would send out the same vendor. Which makes no sense because of the job you just complain about, they are going to send the same bad company to service it again.

Our air conditioner went out in the middle of August in Oklahoma. Needless to say, our house was extremely HOT. We filed a claim on a Thursday and were told that the earliest someone could be out would be the coming Monday. I called AHS and was on hold for at least 40 minutes each time I called (due to a high call volume) and when I got in touch with them, I was told there was nothing they could do to speed up the process. My husband and I could not live in our home because it was 92 degrees INSIDE the house. We were forced to rent a hotel room for the first 4 nights using our own funds. When the A/C company finally came out to our house, he told us it was our compressor and they would be ordering a new one. This ordering process took another week and a half. At this point, we had been without A/C for 5 days. I called AHS to try and expedite the process but was unsuccessful. I called around our city and found that several different A/C companies had the compressor we needed in stock, so I called AHS again and asked just to have a check mailed to me so we could purchase the compressor and get the process moving along. I was told that this would start my claim process over and that they would not tell me how much money they would give me for the compress until after I filled out paperwork--I could have lost out on money OR come out even, however, I had no way of knowing because AHS would not tell me. By the time our compressor unit was finally installed, we had been out of our house for 14 days. That's 14 nights in a hotel because we do not have family in the area. That is almost $3000 for hotels, on top of our deductible that we owed AHS, plus the extra $850 we owed because there were several parts not covered. In short, we would have saved money if we had just paid for the compressor and labor ourselves.

Repair service was rated 3 just because of Aircon person. They did a good job. For Plumbing this is a huge disappointment. It is very difficult to reach AHS. Even if we reach AHS some of their customer service was very rude. Poor flexibility. I feel they are taking advantage just because we paid the subscription. For Aircon different company have various rates sometimes in the ratio of 1:3 especially for refrigerant top up (same refrigerant), and they allow that. I had a long quarrel with them. I am seeking alternative. One came to my house month ago and still did not solve the problem. No follow up. I am tired of this.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY! Do NOT expect good customer service from American Home Shield. To get them to stick to the agreement and either fix or replace your appliances, you have to make multiple phone calls and wait no less than two weeks to get a replacement. NOT CONVENIENT!!!!! Some of the repair companies they use are not professional. One of the repairmen that came to my house told us that he would order the parts to fix our washer and we would have a working washer within a week. He then communicated to American Home Shield that our washer was broken due to pet damage. The problem is that my dogs could not have gotten underneath and up inside the washer to cause the damage as my washer sits on the floor. American Home Shield denied our claim but failed to communicate this to us. We waited a week and when the repairman would not answer the phone or return our calls, we called American Home Shield. After speaking to a couple of different people there, we were told that our claim was denied solely based on this repairman's word with no pictures. So, we insisted they send another repairman to our house at no additional cost to us. After some arguing, they agreed. The next repairman told us that there was no way the machine was broken due to pet damage. He said the repair we needed was a difficult and would take a lot of time to do. So much so that he would have to take our machine to his shop. He sent the repair cost estimate to American Home Shield who decided just to replace the machine. That was another ordeal in that although they tell you they will get you something comparable, they choose the cheapest appliance available. After more arguing, we FINALLY got a somewhat satisfactory replacement. We did, however, have to wash our clothes elsewhere for at least 2 weeks before we received our replacement. I'm pretty sure this is how most of the Home Warranty companies work. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! But they're happy to take your money every month.

I love having a home warranty from American Home Shield! Recently, my AC quite working, and I filed a warranty claim. This was early in the morning on a Wednesday. The contractor got back to me within a few hours, but they were not able to make the repair until after 1 o\'clock on Friday. I understand that everything happened within the timelines set forth in my contract, but I expected faster service. I have animals that were in 93-100 degree heat for three days, and when I called to see if the service could be expedited, I was told that my animals did not constitute an emergency. The repairman was great, and he fixed the problem quickly when he arrived, but I was hoping for faster service and more compassion/understanding from AHS.

I am always pleased with the quality of service I receive from AHS contractors. When they come to a service call, they are polite and professional. My one critique of AHS would be when there is an issue that is not completely resolved on the first call. I live in an older home and many issues might not be completely fixed on the first call. When I call AHS again, there is not easy way to request an additional call to finalize the first service call. I once had to wait on hold for an hour just to talk to a person to request a follow-up visit. I believe that there should be an option to request a follow-up, even for a call that is marked "complete", as long as it is in an acceptable time frame (such as two hours). For that, I am forced to dock the "Customer Service" and "Service Timeliness" ratings. Overall, I give AHS four out of five stars.

Old Republic Home Protection
We have a plumbing issue with our toilets that has caused sewage to leak into the garage when the toilet is flushed. Called Old Republic in the morning, and they said that a service provider would call us to come to our home and that they had marked the request as a priority. The service provider called several times throughout the day stating that they were behind and would be at the house later. Eventually, they stated that they would not be able to come until the next day. At noon the next day, we still had no call from the service provider. When we called, they stated that they would be at hour home sometime later in the day, no range of times provided. We requested the Old Republic reassign the order as a priority, they stated that if they reassigned they couldn't guarantee that they would be able to send someone out the same day or even the next day. They put the order in a queue for hours. When we called, they said that no one had picked the order up. Only upon a slightly irritable request on our behalf did they actually pick up the phone and start calling plumbers in our area. Because of the delay, Old Republic stated that we could hire our own plumber and that they would reimburse us 100% minus the service fee. We scheduled someone to come out right away, when I called to have the service approved, Old Republic stated that we were misinformed and that we would not be reimbursed and that we would have to obtain approval of the quote from our plumber or wait until Monday (today is Saturday) for their plumber to arrive. We have have been without the ability to use our bathrooms since Thursday morning with a family of 6. Bottom line, Old Republic is going to find every way possible to not pay for this service. This is the first time that we have used their company for home warranty. We will not be renewing and would not recommend their services to anyone else.

Unbelievably deceitful business practices. The presentation to get you to sign is intentionally limited, and when asked for the detailed explanation of services, shocking difference between the bright brochure and the reality. When we realized that it is not what we need, they tried to charge a cancellation fee , even knowing it had not been in effect yet and no services provided. Unprofessional customer service.

It took a couple of visits to solve my leaky toilet but it was worth it. The contractor arrived when he was supposed to, checked out the problem and put in a fix. However, being a very slow leak, it took an additional hour after he left to discover that his fix didn't solve the problem. I called AHS, they rescheduled the contractor who was then able to replace my toilet with a similar make/model. My toilet is now fixed and it didn't take a lot of effort on my part (very important as I've had other plans/insurance that I had to do all the work). I'm happy with the work by AHS and by the contractor.
