Dear Home Warranty shopper: If the rest of the reviews on this site aren\'t enough to make you run away from this company, here\'s another one to add to the mix. As others have said, their sales staff are polished and personable and will sell you on all sorts of pre-paid policy "deals." Once you buy, it\'s a whole other ballgame. They fulfilled one claim I had to make on a garage door opener, but when a big ticket item went bad (air conditioner), they told me it had rust and was therefore not coverable. Rust was nowhere listed in the "sample policy" they provided to sell me the plan. After you pay, they email you a different policy document that is about 4x as long and has tons of additional exclusions. Also, they tell you you can get a prorated refund at any time, when you buy the policy. If you ever request that refund, they will 1)ignore your email, 2)make excuses on the phone as to why they can't access your account, 3)just be rude and hang up on you. It's time for class action.

If you tell a Consumer that you will repair an item by mistake, you should honor. In my situation, you did and the work done by Perfect Climate Heating and Air, was top of the line service. You should work to hire A+ companies like them. You all sent out American Door Master and they were also top notch. Your customer service is average. Please pay the employees to stay with the company, tenure is a must to learn a company's product and services. Otherwise, i believe AHS is the best and to stay the best, continue to rate and remove companies that have poor service, because their services reflects the business.

The customer service is great while submitting a claim and then letting me know that parts were ordered and when they should arrive. The experience that I had this time was much better than the last time that I had a claim, which tells me that the comments/complaints that I made last time did help. The repair company/technicians were the best that I ever had and explained everything as they replaced parts and repaired the problem. To improve even further and fix the problem faster, it would be nice to get a part locally and a tracking number if it is not at a local supplier for the repair company and the homeowner.

The first year AHS handled several claims nicely. The repair people they used were iffy at best, but they did show up after several days. The electrician never repaired everything properly. The second year, they increased the contract amount, reduced the service, not including appliances and raised the deductible price. I only called twice and the repair people were worse. The electrician never showed up, and the HVAC guy was inept. I decided to change companies this year and got a much better price. Hopefully, the service will be better.

All of my experiences with AHS and the contractors that were a part of their system was great. My last experience was super and not only did the contractor fix my existing problem , but they did such a remarkable job that I hired them later to do more things for me. AHS has high quality customer service and from my experiences high quality contractors as well. If this type of service continues, I will stay with AHS for my home protection. Please do not lower your standards as some companies do over time. Thanks, Jim

American Home Shield is anything, but a proper home warranty company. We have had multiple issue with our HVAC units and our water heater for over 6 years now. They continually send out the most unprofessional service personnel and do just the minimum to keep the units working. We have had to have more refridgerant placed in both units each year. This is indicative of a serious leak, but they would not replace either condensor or evaporator coil. We have had continual problems and have had multiple "second" opinions that have recommended that we replace the units. We are not renewing our contract and will not join another home warranty company. We can no longer keep paying a premium and not getting the service that we have paid for.
