American Home Shield (AHS)
I have had nothing but good results with AHS. As a matter of fact I have recommended them to a few people. Introduced to them in 2013 and I am more than comfortable that they will always honor their commitment with me.

American Home Shield (AHS)
We have had to use AHS for 3 claims since moving into our home in Feb 2018. It\'s important to note that we have used AHS on 3 previous homes without a single claim being filed. Thirst claim was a washing machine repair for a leak. The contractor fixed the leak, but caused additional damage to the drums shock absorbers. So the third claim (I\'ll get to the second in a moment) was conducted by a legit contractor who repaired the machine to full operating condition. Since it was a repeat visit on the same piece of equipment, we did not have to pay the $75 service charge which was nice. The second claim was a nightmare. We lost the upstairs zone of our AC on 3 July. The outdoor system quit. AHS took the claim and by 5 July, we had a contractor call us to say it would be a week before they could get out to estimate the repair. The system was not repaired until the 5th of August, over 1 month later. I was asked 3 separate times if I would agree to a cash settlement and could go find my own contractor. The cash settlement was well below just the equipment cost so it was declined. In the meantime, we wound up buying 3 separate AC units from Lowes at $327 each. The AHS supplied contractor was at a loss to understand why the experience was so bad and the ordering and paying of the parts was so slow as they had worked with AHS for over 11 years. Unique experience for the contractor. The guy was completely in my court by the end of the ordeal. So, I am out $978 dollars for 3 AC units which I no longer need; $375 for 3 rental AC units for the 4th of July weekend; and $700 for the install (new concrete slab, electrical and tubing). I was not prepared to be as engaged as I had to be to reconcile the problem. Felt like we were always in a tedious spot waiting for them to effect the repair. Had I used a 5 star yelp contractor, we would have had the AC fixed within about a week, as they knew where the replacement part was locally. I was the one who had to initiate phone calls to get information. Never did AHS call me to provide an update until the very end after the part had been ordered. This was not a good experience. AHS offers me $125 to compensate for the purchase of a single window AC unit...not sure you could find one at that price.

Lowe’s Protection Plans
I am going to make a very long story short: We purchased the 5 year Extended protection plan from Lowe\'s for our LG refrigerator a couple of years ago. About 5 weeks ago our refrigerator stopped working. We called the warranty company. They called a technician. Platinum National or National Platinum, I think was the name of the company. The technician ordered a part and came to fix it, they had the wrong part - they ordered the "correct" parts and came and put them in (this process took approx. 2 weeks) the refrigerator still did not work. The warranty company tried calling this company to talk to them but the company would not answer their calls. So then the warranty company called another repair company - A-reliable appliance service. They came and looked at it and said they would get the parts to fix it - after waiting approx. 10 days we called, they said they couldn't fix it. The warranty company called a third company; A&E factory service. After waiting 2 weeks for the appointment, on the day of the appointment they called and cancelled and said it would be another 8 days. This company was very unhelpful and uncaring and they were caught actually lying to me. I asked this company to talk to someone at their home base which they claim is in Nashville TN but they said they were not allowed to give that number out to consumers. Really? Hmmmm. I am currently on the phone with Lowe's warranty service as I am writing this. Lowe's has just told me that they have decided to buy out the warranty and give us back the cost of the refrigerator so that we can get another one. Yeah, for Lowe's. However, this process started on April 9, 2017. It is now May 22, 2017. That is way too long to go without a working refrigerator. So for that reason, even though Lowe's has resolved the issue, I still cannot give this 5 stars. We have spent more money eating out in the last 6 weeks because you need a refrigerator to store food. So in the end, we still have lost money. Lowe's really needs to hire competent technicians and repair companies because the companies they are currently using are in the Cleveland TN area making Lowe's look bad.

American Home Shield (AHS)
Our AC kept running, and although cooling, it really wasn't cool. The technician diagnosed the problem as a bad coil, ordered the replacement part and got us back up and cooling as quickly as possible. The owner of the company even came out and helped his employee do the install as the unit was in the ceiling of the garage. That is not seen very often. A water drain issue arose and they quickly came back out and affixed the missing drain pan deflector. We recommended that AHS refer customers to this company first.

This was my best experience yet. I put in a claim and one hour later it was assigned and the repair service called to set up appointment. The appointment was the following day at which time the repairman checked my water heater and determined it needed to be replaced, he left to pick a new one up, returned quickly and replaced the water heater.
