Lowe’s Protection Plans
My Whirlpool upright freezer broke just after a little over a year. I filed a claim and they sent out a repair man in just a couple of days. The repair man said it would need to be replaced. After two week I called and the Lowes service agent (a third part overseas call center) to get a status update. They said said it had been fixed. I called to service repair folks and they said they filed the report to have it replaced. After going back and forth, Lowes said I should hear something within 2 days. A week later I called again and received the same run around. This happened 3 weeks in a row. I finally had to call the Lowes corporate office to get anything done. They then sent me a gift card for what I paid for the freezer back when it was on sale and had gotten a military discount. Since inflation has increased and Lowes no longer offers military discounts on appliances, I will have to pay about $300 out of pocket to replace the same freezer. This plan did not replace my freezer!!!! Very displeased with the service.

Our A/C went out shortly after moving in. They came out with in 24 business hours and fixed the compressor in our unit. They were friendly and explained exactly what they are doing. The only issue is the had to add freon and the fine print says it only pays $10 per pound, which is not even close to the price. Besides that it was a great experience.

I took out this home warranty on a whim really. I had received mailings from American Home Shield and a couple of other home warranty companies. I checked all the reviews and decided to give them a try, I have always done all my own repairs as I am pretty handy but as I have gotten older and after numerous back surgeries it was getting harder and harder for me to do much of anything. AND WOW little did I know only a couple of months after taking out this warranty my heat pump went out. I had absolutely no hassle from AHS and since have recommended them to most of my friends. The deductible is per visit but MUCH cheaper than me having to do it myself. If you are considering AHS I would HIGHLY recommend them.

Lowe’s Protection Plans
Upon return from a Christmas vacation we found that our lg capacity fridge/freezer had quit working a couple of days before and we had lost all food in both freezer and fridge. We called Lowe’s and were told to first try unplugging and plugging the appliance. We did as told and it did not work. The repairman found the fridge in demo mode as a result of being unplugged and then plugged. Anyway, I was told I could file a claim for the food loss. The claim was denied Jan 24 because it had been in demo mode. Once I explained the reason it was, I was told it was our (Lowe’s) fault for having me to unplug/plug so they resubmitted the claim assuring me that now that they were aware of the whole story it should be approved. A week later I called to check and was told they failed to submit the second claim and would put a rush on it. I called again in a week and was told the previous person must have failed to resubmit the claim. I called again, same story so asked for supervisor. He informed me they could not approve my claim because they found nothing wrong with the fridge. I have an extended warranty through March of 2019 but am seriously wondering why I bothered with that. I am certainly no expert but I know when food is ruined because an appliance was not working. I could never decide between Lowe’s and Home Depot until now, but now I’ve got it. After all my years of loyalty thanks to Lowe’s for absolutely nothing! Rant over

My water heater startedc leaking and I called AHS for repair. The contractor arrived and determined that according to code, they would have to pull a permit, and either drop a new vent exhaust through the chimney with a standard water heater or replace the unit with a high efficiency power vent water heater with a PVC vent pipe through the side of the house. AHS made the smarter choice to replace the unit with the high efficiency water heater. We could not be more pleased.
